Your Vision Nigh
Fiddling swallows never cease to fly
Eagles indomitably seize the sky
winds embroider our sins to pray;
Nymphical deities subdue in brines,
foggy knot distances, my form enshrine,
Nautilus scopes there parallel lay;
Flying next to Eagles, your vision nigh,
in ample Oceans Nymphs dove to die
lonely encomium the winds will play.

Eagles
The eagles can never know
The secret of the volcanoes
When they seemingly fly carried
By the sliding winds
Over cupped peaks of mountains
With the fire of their anger inside
Smoldering in the carcass of history
The eagles doesn't understand why
The green still suckles the spring's teats
And why the scream can be an echo
And the echo can be a scream.
But the eagles can hear
The cubic rocks which roll for rolling out
Their song
And the brooklet ripples which fall
With murmuring sound
And the eagles can see
The winding forest path
Which is apparently suspended
Like hanging wall thoughts
On the slope fringe
In a rock bizarre climbing story.

When The Indians Cry
Verse 1:
Babe tell me where
Will you sleep tonight
For there's such a pain in my heart
And I've got a flame
That's dying inside
And I feel that we'll soon have to part
Chorus:
When the indians cry
And the eagles die
Cos the winds of change blow again
Then I'll know that you
Turned the world into blue
And my tears will fall like the rain
Verse 2:
Love can be so cruel
When the light of hope is gone
I know cos I felt it before
In the desert of fear
I can hear this old song
Of a love that won't live anymore
Chorus:
When the indians cry
And the eagles die
Cos the winds of change blow again
Then I'll know that you
Turned the world into blue
And my tears will fall like the rain
Instrumental Solo
Chorus:
When the indians cry
And the eagles die
Cos the winds of change blow again
Then I'll know that you
Turned the world into blue
And my tears will fall like the rain
Then I'll know that you
Turned the world into blue
Then I'll know that you
Turned the world into blue
And my tears will fall like the rain

Eagles And Horses
This song appears on five albums, and was first released on the flower that shattered the stone album. it has also appeared on the stonehaven sunrise, a portrait and the john denver collection -
Me home, country roads albums. a live version also appears on the wildlife concert album.
Horses are creatures who worship the earth
As they gallop on feet of ivory
Constrained by the wonder of dying and birth
The horses still run, they are free
My body is merely the shell of my soul
But the flesh must be given its due
Like a pony that carries its rider back home
Like an old friend that's tried and been true
I had a vision of eagles and horses
High on a ridge in a race with the wind
Going higher and higher and faster and faster
On eagles and horses i'm flying again
Eagles inhabit the heavenly heights
They know neither limit nor bound
They're the guardian angels of darkness and light
They see all and hear every sound
My spirit will never be broken or caught
For the soul is a free-flowing thing
Like an eagle that needs neither comfort nor thought
To rise up on glorious wings
I had a vision of eagles and horses
High on a ridge in a race with the wind
Going higher and higher and faster and faster
On eagles and horses i'm flying again
My body is merely the shell of my soul
But the flesh must be given its due
Like a pony that carries its master back home
Like an old that's tried and been true
My spirit will never be broken or caught
For the soul is a free-flowing thing
Like an eagle that needs neither comfort nor thought

Well Favored
On route I am to her fair eternity
expecting to see an isle to emerge,
Nymphs will bestow benign affinity,
and enamored Sirens will submerge.
In skies will fly fiddling swallows,
melodious laughter will fascinate
immaculate souls there to follow,
playful winds to dance and ornate.
Shimmering clouds white and such,
fast will travel to sway above me,
there I 'll recall one that so much
under same clouds cared to love me;
Well-favored, blissful and so kind,
aesthetic scenes, around invite me,
to fly in winds, with soul and mind,
dedicated nice to worlds inside me.
Two resplendent streams will flow,
from her innocent, expectant eyes,
oh, so wondering her glance will glow,
to enter a space in my soul that dies.

The last two years with the Eagles were pretty intense times. There was a lot of drinking and we were all getting high a lot. My parents were relieved when I got off the Eagles treadmill.

Alter Nigh
Guiding mizzen, curved, waves,
my route beyond gray horizon,
spells dim, sails unfold to dawn
my soul is dull and misbehaves..
Weedy paths spiral in distance
spirits broken expend to waste,
eschew encomium for instance
lost lives-souls in caves, etiolate.
Sea streams, envy my cause,
a twinge starts on mistral whiffs,
poems will describe fall leaves,
lonely is the reason to applause..
Delphian paths do know so well,
a lissome figure in winds to cry,
the mist will sink in a sip of rye,
beyond horizons I shall dwell..
A man must know if he is chosen,
to quill darkness in nocturnal fog,
villages are distant in this bog,
and his remote death is frozen.
Solitude feelings up proudly fly,
a bitter freedom, to winds offer,
my poetry books, in an old coffer,
your away stars shine alter nigh..

Greedy Eagles
Even the eagles' greed have killed them!
Can you believe?
Bald eagles wet and can not fly?
Gorging themselves over wasted fish to die!
And when the temperatures dipped,
Into freezing 'teens'...
At least nineteen of fifty greedy eagles,
Were frozen wet and had met their deaths.
And 'they' are the symbols of this land!
Representing...
Just how far,
A land where greed and mankind,
Have gotten out of hand!
To feast and die,
Feeding greed...
That does not guarantee or provide survival!
Not their own,
It seems.

Rise Up
rise up and fly like eagles
rise up through the sky
we've got to rise up
over higher mountains
rise up, rise up, rise up
Everybody's come a long long way
such a long way ,to be here today
we're going hard ,giving it all
we've been knocking on wood with our backs to the walls
we've been working every day and night
waiting for the chance for the day to arrive
and now we've all got something to prove
win or lose, there's only one thing to do
We've got to rise up
and fly like eagles
rise up through the sky
you've got to rise up
over higher mountains
rise up, rise up, rise up
Inside the sweat, inside the heat
in each and every heart there's a pounding beat
to do it wrong, to do it right
each of us has put up, one hell of a fight
and as we face the final test
all that we can do is to do our best
and as we're making time stand still
to get to the top you've got to give all you've got
You've got to rise up
and fly like eagles
rise up through the sky
you've got to rise up
over higher mountains
rise up, rise up
Shine a light and let them see
everything you want to be
Shine a light and let them know
you are never letting go
Rise up... win or lose there's only one thing to do
We've got to rise up
and fly like eagles
rise up through the sky
you've got to rise up
over higher mountains
rise up, rise up, rise up
Rise, and fly like eagles
rise up through the sky
you've got to rise up
over higher mountains
rise up, rise up, rise up, rise up,
over higher mountains, rise,
We've got to rise up.

Sonnet: The Desert-war
Two Eagles want a mouse as Baghdad’s King!
The Desert -Snake is too wily to swoop:
Once he is gone, they can have anything,
From oil and gasoline to camel-soup!
They encircled the Snake in the desert!
The Snake is swift and appears like mirage!
His oil-wells burn the two intruders' heart;
They cannot turn so fast to be his phage!
The Eagles know the Desert-Sun is hot!
They know they cannot bear the heat for long:
They take a risk but don't want to be caught;
They cannot take the country for a song!
The Eagles may be Kings of their own skies!
The Desert-Snake rules, though on belly lies!

Tears For Fears
Here we go again
where do the teardrops end
Who gave me the right
to live in the eagles light
My bird is crying for the love of his country
the teardrops do fall in my face
He circles around me
because we share the same space
Never fear the grim reaper here
the fear does give me a chill
Fly to the moon my friend
My love for you will never end.
Just a lover of crying eagles
living in their life so regal
The teardrops they say
Fly like a bird
fly away
Fly like my brood
Love me as you should
Teardrops from eagles
Make me cry too.
On The Wings Of An Eagle
Oh, my home is in the mountains, I am free, I am free.
I am one with wind and eagles, I am free. Given wings to sail in gracefulness, the sky, the sky.
Given a voice to sing in breathlessness, I find that I can fly, fly away.
I've been a long time on the highway, I've been a long time on the run.
And it gets to be like chaos when I'm so long away from home.
And sometimes it's just to much to bare and I hide behind my eyes.
I can picture friendly faces and I can dream of friendly skies.
And I guess that I'm a lucky one for the truth of what I know.
For my heart had not denied me and I have somewhere to go.
I shall never be a prisoner of steel and glass and stone.
If I leave, I will return again to my Rocky Mountain home.
Oh, my home is in the mountains, I am free, I am free.
I am one with wind and eagles, I am free. Given wings to sail in gracefulness, the sky, the sky.
Given a voice to sing in breathlessness, I find that I can fly, fly away.
In the hands of my father, in the light of the sunshine. On the wings of an eagle, I'm flying again.
I'm flying again, I'm flying again, I'm flying again, I'm flying again.

And This Rain
You were so simple, on your old balcony,
adorned by white roses, yet down looking,
west's flame encircled in lyrics' euphony,
sea Nymphs' surround was a benign setting.
Your words will glow in my distant trip's links
maybe your reason to escape was false,
and an affection was left in the winds
among your crossed ethereal hands and pulse.
Our time was still, with eyes to gleam, conceived,
and was our company, phase to reckon,
maybe atonement was, a cause bereaved,
and our glances in mists remote beckon.
Caress of sun steppe flower on my face,
will alter a dull course to steady 'ffuse,
our bilged steadfast is in brines to encase,
a summer song of longing to bemuse.
My effort to repent, in winds ascribes
besets our trips on sea to faded strings,
a touch of solitude, and ghostly brides,
caress of Sunday want to face all winds.
............
Perchance you're bending soft on my scriptures,
maybe you left on trip in empty train,
while I recall in dark your kind features,
- we missed our dreamy summer and this rain.

You Spread Your Wings
You spread your wings
And I lead the way with my staff.
Together,
We follow the bright star,
Of our love!
Together,
We soar as one-
Flowing with the turbulent flow,
Of our passion's winds!
Together,
We fly to the mountain peak-
Of our ecstasy!
From within,
Eagles are set free-
And they break on through the sky
And together,
We reach heaven!

They are so glad of a young companion,
They are so glad of a young companion,
They hail and bless me, these boys of mine,
And I whose pathway was dark and lonely
Have no more need of the sun to shine.
We'll walk in darkness, obscure, despised,
We'll mourn each other at prison gates.
These boys are splendid as mountain eagles,
But mountain eagles have eagle mates.
The girls who prattle of work and pleasure,
Of last week's picnic and this week's joys,
Of past and present, nor heed the future,
Are lagging comrades for dawnstruck boys.

Blow Ye Winds
Blow ye winds o'er the seas below.
See what you can conjure up as you blow
White foamy sprays,
wetness of haze
while all below is silent.
All of the fish and mollusks alive
don't seem aware of the winds that drive
their currents and drifts down below.
They do not care nor do they know
while all above is fierce.
And so the oceans that teem with life
say to the winds, 'Go tell the wife
that all is well out on the sea.
Your fisherman will come home to thee
while you wait with bated breath.'

Because of Fear
Cold arctic air descends nevously on frozen lakes today
Wild flowers fall to their knees to pray
Snowflakes beg, grass shivers, and rivers thirst
Eagles watch apprehensively from miles above
Because of fear
White glaciers melt in mud and flames
Sunlight chokes, leaves weep, and the forrest falls
Morning wrings her worried hands
Because of fear, love sins
And days sleep with the night
Because of fear
Apples are poisoned, babies are burned
And ancient paths near temples are destroyed
The air beneath the white dove's wing is dead
Bombs explode, earth bleeds
And forever is lost in seconds
Because of fear, love sins
And days sleep with the night

The Opening in the Sky to Heaven
in the eyes of the swallows
the sky winds its way into
a mysterious golden
- cool luminous opening
to where heaven is
on and on the excited swallows
would sing wishing one day
it would be able to explore
what is inside
on and on the swallows would sing
as they cruise the sky
delighting all earth's inhabitants
