Time sneaks past so quickly

Time sneaks past so quickly
when you lie next to me
and I would like to have it different.

The dark night throws long shadows
that draws fingers over your cheeks
and the intimate smell
of you and me
is like the scent of rain
that brings new life.

You big breasts are pointed and soft
and I feel every time
that you take a breath
and soft hot air
blows against my cheek
like a confession,
that still catches
the earlier passion.

Somewhere in the late night
your whole body
lies hot against mine
and your auburn hair
tickles my face,
while your soft and warm lips
find mine
and it’s blissful
to have you against me once more.

The tokkelossie

At night when the sun sets
and the dark night folds around the earth
a short man appears,
who is darker than the night
and he waits for the moon to disappear
before he slyly sneaks into places.

His hands are claws
like those of a baboon
and with his long nails
he draws sparks
out of quarts rocks
and as far as he walks,
it sounds like buck hooves trotting
and in his heart
he’s a demon.

At times the dogs see him
and bark and growl,
but far too fast he passes by,
that anybody
can really see him.

Where he strikes
there’s never another tomorrow
and his works is black like the night
and before Orion appears,
he is long gone
and the life of a woman
with him.

Night

I love to hear the silence of the night.
That time, when distance draws so near,
and memories come, and far sounds,
undisturbed, so close.
For night is dark and only self is true.
A self whose rest and past, are
only breaths away.
Yet for some,
the night may haunt and fear,
its conscience time, when curtains
closed are drawn.
So too, ones inner self and past,
to joy or fright, the
inner spirits will.

It is a blessed thing this night.
Was it not night when Christ came home,
and balanced Judas evil deed.
And blessed night,
when monks now rise and pray,
and Nicodemus,
for lack of sleep,
came home.
The lady of the night came too,
her stumbling led her home.

In the darkness of the well
the Magi saw the stars in day,
and in the psyche dwells our heart.

O Blessed night,
for rolling back the stone,
the angels let in light,
and finished night.
Night no more.

The silence of the night is deeply rich,
and homeward bound, we rest,
and sound our hope
and lasting joy,
dwells here,
in shadows of the night.

Born To Lose

Ill play your game
But if you lose youre gonna have to pay the price
Broken chains, like a prisoner free at last
The fear inside just up and died
Time will tell if I am wrong
It wont be too long
You thing Im chasing shadows
In the dark
Well Im not born to lose
Im not born to lose
You curse my name, as you turn and walk away, from view
It wont be too long
You dont scare me cos youre
Hard to see and its time
That you were gone
It wont be too long
You think Im chasing shadows
In the dark
Well Im not born to lose
You think Im chasing shadows
In the dark
What you gonna do about it now
What you gonna do about it now
It wont be too long
It wont be too long
It wont be too long
You think Im chasing shadows
In the dark
What you gonna do about it now
What you gonna do about it now
Aint nothing I can do about it now

The hunter

With a bow in his hand
the hunter sneaks
above the wind,
following the tracts
of the wild antelope.

His brown skin
melts into the field
and the bushes,
and like a wild cat
he sneaks
from cover to cover.

The sun is hot
where it hangs in the half-Kalahari sky
and he drinks a tiny bit of water
out of the ostrich egg flask,
before a brown hand
with caked sand
wipes sweat out of his dark brown eyes.

Again he takes the trail
and follows it at a jog
until the oryxes are closer
and again he sneaks nearer
and stalks still closer.

When he is in striking distance
an arrow is taken from the quiver
and the small bow’s string
made out of roped intestines draws
and for a moment,
it sounds like the buzz of a bee
while the arrow
rushes away from the bow.

The arrow hits the antelope
and when the startled oryx
rushes away
the hunter follows
faithful on the spoor,
till he finds it
where in time
it lies stretched out
on the red brown Africa sand.

Time Long Past

Like the ghost of a dear friend dead
Is Time long past.
A tone which is now forever fled,
A hope which is now forever past,
A love so sweet it could not last,
Was Time long past.

There were sweet dreams in the night
Of Time long past:
And, was it sadness or delight,
Each day a shadow onward cast
Which made us wish it yet might last--
That Time long past.

There is regret, almost remorse,
For Time long past.
'Tis like a child's belovèd corse
A father watches, till at last
Beauty is like remembrance, cast
From Time long past.

Dark night...

So dark is the night by choice
Silenced of humorous voice,
So lonely is the night of charms
Devoid of a lover's warm arms.

Dark shadows rising upward bound
Above me from the silent ground
Destroying my inner secret dreams
Waking to the sounds of inner screams

Dark shadows rising here to stay
Even after they're casted away
They come back with violence
At the depth of dead silence

Dark shadows rising unkind
causing chaos across my mind
I cant stand, my painful cries
As the dark night arrives

Dark shadows rising knocking me flat
Paralysing me purposefully so that
I can't move and nobody cares
The dark night blindly stares

Dark shadows dying away to fly
Over the dark coloured sky
No more shadows flying around
Remembering my dreams abound

Shadows

The rising of the moon wakes up the shadows
and commands them to emerge from the dark.
The daylight shadows are disappearing fast
with the sparrows the dove and the lark.

As always the light makes way for darkness
as it’s chased from night’s time and space.
The dark shapes seek out those of the light,
at this hour there’s no hiding place.

The shadows of the darkness will not submit,
away from the light they’re there.
Instinctively they wait until it’s eerie
then venture where nothing else dare.

After a night of changing shape and haunting
the shadows themselves feel fear.
The daylight is coming up on the horizon
and the night shadows flee and disappear.

Like a lightning bolt

Like a lightning bolt
life thunders over me
I am bashed down
just when I think
that I am again on my feet again.

Time flies past much too fast
and the grey
sneaks into my dark brown hair
and between yesterday and now
I am slowly loosing courage

and like taking a track
I try to find the meaning
of my existence
and of life

but somewhere
I have lost the way
and over and over
I am lost in the backwoods

and sometimes when I see the stars
I am looking for a beacon
in the night above me,
but nowhere
I can find anything

as between now and remembering
the darkness
like a black blanket
wants to fold over me the whole time

but I keep on hoping
as if success and happiness
is just over the next hill,
but the journey is long
and my feet are sore
and it’s as if
I am walking alone through life.

Sun and Night

And sun, and sun, and sun, and sun,
And night, and night, and night, and night.
We get up and revolve, eat, make love:
Some of us go down to the park and swing,
Some of us cry her name in sleep-
The beauty we do all of this for,
The opposite body we do not know,
But wish to handle with devilish alacrities-
I’ve climbed a tall mountain in Colorado when
It was past my bedtime, and the little boy coming down
With his parents told me it was too late;
But I climbed it anyway, the rolling back of false summits,
To see the hidden threshold the sun runs through after her.
The plaque placed near the end by a weeping mother
For the dead skier,
The marble aspens at her shivering throat,
All the dark things which come into this world,
And are twisted up and confused, and utterly beautiful.
And she is confused, when she takes his hand and draws him to bed.
Made-up but hesitant, her legs open another time
As dusk transcends and flint sparks her moans in the dimmed room:
All of this I’ve never seen, as I’ve never touched the inner course of
Her thigh, never seen the things she shows him time and again,
The nocturnal budding of mammalian rosaries,
The clanging together of fleshed bones, the rights to lips
And bights of teeth, and tongues everywhere in the throws:
Somehow becomes mundane, the chalice sipped every evening,
And thus unappreciated, but not for me:
The unfamiliar lake where the women swim unabashedly nude,
Each of their fingers playing in their sorority’s gay ring:
If she welcomed me with a coy nod, seeing where I
Have summited, seeing only me against the dozing clouds
Atop the drowsing world, the thin air I cut myself into for her,
And she called me down into the confusion of trees,
Where the light dwindles like a dying stream,
I would make a bed with her in the nettles and birds,
And coil into her unwinding through the apertures of surrender.
And sun, and sun, and sun, and sun,
And night, and night, and night, and night.

Shadow Games

(first verse)
Long ago in the ancient past
I remember a life when we first met
In a dark shadow realm under a big full moon
There and then I could tell
You try to break my will
But now watch as I rise to a whole new height
And my mad battle cry will be heard all night
(chorus)
You keep on playing
Those dark shadow games and
No I wont be beat again
You keep on playing
Those dark shadow games and
All this time Ive prayed my friend
(second verse)
So now you know after time has passed
You can never be sure youre always the best
Cause Im back from the shadows coming after you
On the brightest day
Of your darkest hour
So now watch as I rise to a whole new height
And my mad battle cry will be heard all night
(chorus)
You keep on playing
Those dark shadow games and
No I wont be beat again
You keep on playing (You keep on playing)
Those dark shadow games and
All this time Ive prayed my friend
(third verse)
(Oh, oh, oh, oh)
You destroyed the future with your past
Forgot the lesson of the test
You never understood the blessed
Too bad today will be your last
So now watch as I rise to a whole new height
And my mad battle cry will be heard all night
(chorus)
You keep on playing (You keep on playing)
Those dark shadow games and
No I wont be beat again
You keep on playing
Those dark shadow games and
All this time Ive prayed my friend
You keep on playing
Those dark shadow games and
No I wont be beat again
You keep on playing

All this time Ive prayed my friends
You keep on playing
Those dark shadow games and
No I wont be beat again

(Do Not) Stand In The Shadows

Hearts which beat to a precise beat
Fading shadows on the wall
We'll cut our cards
Drive out bars
All for one, one for all.
Like teenage heat
And carnival cheats
With your heart on your sleeve
Well you know you wanna run
You won't hide
And you jump like a son of a gun
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Oh alone and lonely
Watching people on my wall
Well Mama and Dadda thought they had me fooled
I was thinking not at all
Well I got out
Not gonna stand
In the dark without a light
Forgetting love if you believe that chance
Sit and wait
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
And now the judge is down feeling
all around yeah
Lifting to a blast this sound
No preachers, teachers
Pick our minds
To the sounds of false alarm
They're here today
And they hear you say
You're alive and you're living with me
So don't try to hide
And don't try to die
In the dark of the night
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows

The abstract star

At one time everything slips into the past

Let me take it for granted
that I am flying in the sky
over my head below my feet
beginning from the fingers of
my outspread hands the endless sky

The sky of the night of the dark moon
the enchanting endless sky
of the night of the dark moon

“Do not start your journey on the night of the dark moon”

The known warning of my mother’s simple faith
yet I was born in such a dark night
she hides thing truth from me

The star gazing at which I am flying
in enchanting sky of this night
is dead is it’s sky in the same present
yet it is living for me
it is the living abstract star of the projected truth

At one time everything slips into the past

Am I going or flying
gazing at the star
just assume by
my own reasoning

What a pleasure in making assumption
many a journey begins with such assuming
what is the end of all these journeys
the abstract star of my assumed sky

A Never Ending Kind Of Intimate Thing

Your white body lies like a continent
with breasts as hillocks, slender thighs
and the valleys somewhere in between
while tiny shadows fall in the afternoon.

I bury myself with great pleasure in you,
feel the warmth of your blazing volcano,
reach up to the centre core of my existence
and each and every glance in your bright eyes

draws me deeper, draws us still closer together
and the lost of self, where nature flees from me
there is a tender kind of peace at twilight
while we love each other past all feelings.

There is peace in the separation that comes later,
the separation of skin, of thighs of genitalia
but still your gaze were burning into my very soul
and I love you; love every part of your body,

with the smell of love like fresh rain around us
rising from the rose of your tender hot pubis,
with nipples still somewhat hardened aroused
on your soft firm breast that are fragile to touch.

Boundless desire flames again and again,
while your beauty bringing sheer joy,
bringing a kind of very deep tranquillity,
as if the thirst, the yearning for each other

is a never ending kind of intimate thing,
that always exists, with a kind of grace,
that has an infinite kind of ache for fulfilment
a kind of indescribable joy that comes with bliss.

I wonder how I fit into my new country

Respect for other people
and self are missing
and while I go up the steps
of the bus
teenage girls are shouting
loudly to each other
and a ghetto blaster,
is playing very loud music
and it’s much worst
than in a mad bazaar.

a Toddler pushes her fingers
one after the other
into her nose
and draws lines
on seats and windows
and her mother
wipes her nose against her jersey.

An overweight lady
sits down next to me
and there’s a sharp smell
that hits my nose
and no other seat
to go to
and I wonder if she
bathed this week,
or this month
and are scared that head lice
are going to jump on to me.

The bus draws away
and misses a car narrowly
and jerks
while the driver changes gears,
as if he’s struggling
to get the right one.

When I get off at the bus stop
there’s a man relieving himself
and the urine smell,
hangs heavy in the air
and I wonder how
I fit into my new country.

Long Way Home

The other night I took the long way home
Out past the old schoolyard
Its funny how you keep it all inside
Dreams they do die hard
I closed my eyes and I could see your face
Somewhere back in time
One summer night a million miles ago
Back when you were mine
Say yes, say no, say that Im grabbing at shadows
But dont carve the words in stone
I know its late
But cant you see I was only
Taking the long way home
Sometimes its easy to get all wrapped up
In trying to be free
And all those dreams I sailed away to find
Were right in front of me
Say yes, say no, say that Im grabbing at shadows
But dont carve the words in stone
One of these days
Youre gonna see I was only
Taking the long way home
Although the letters stopped many years ago
Ill show you even time could not keep this heart
From letting go
The other night I took the long way home
Out past the old schoolyard
Its funny how you keep it all inside
Dreams they do die hard
Say yes, say no, say that Im grabbing at shadows
But dont leave me here all alone
One of these days
Youre gonna see I was only
Taking the long way home
Say yes, say no
But dont leave me here all alone
One of these days
Youre gonna see I was only
Taking the long way home
[repeat]

Consonation.

Daylight subdues and fades away.
Dark shadows creep across the sky.
Scarlet now tints the west with pink
Sunlight can no longer reign.
Night comes into its own.
Nothing can change nature’s plan
The Sun will rise and quickly chase
The darkness of the night away.
As it was so it will be as long
as this world still spins.

Civet

At night a civet
sneaks around in the chicken pen,
biting Bantam-fowls, big white Leghorns
and every chicken
that it finds dead.

At sunrise it is gone,
with dead chickens lying in a row
while those that it could not find
are cackling frightened
as if a snake is in their nests.

In the mornings mom is way past angry,
buys a spring trap
to catch the chicken thief red handed
and to me the teeth
that springs shut
looks strange and deadly.

The spring trap is set
but the wild cat is far too clever
for that thing and sneaks past
night after night,
until mom gets wolves poison
that she mixes with the guts
of one of the dead chickens.

The next morning
the grey civet
(just a little bigger than the housecat)
with its black stripes covering its body,
lies rigid and stretched out
and around it
the chickens are pecking in peace.

Far Too Little I Know

I

Far too little I know about the things that lie between us,
I see the sea drawing back and rushing in,
I know too little to tell you about my love,
see your tracks disappearing over a sand dune.

I know too little to talk about a secret,
how one day can be so very special,
filled with life changing meaning,
about the things that I read in your eyes

but that that you really love me,
I know before the sea wipes our tracks away
when I kiss you and get you giggling,
while we give new steps into life

when you became the meaning in my small universe;
if you were the light falling through the window on me.

II

If you were the light falling through the window on me,
a star shining at night against the sky,
I would have been able to admire you, in days without end
but now thunder flashes down

whiter than daylight into my life
becoming part of my life,
to again jump to somewhere else
as if single moments are everything

and far too short was the time that you could stay,
with almost endless cheerfulness that you could bring
in this tough world as part of me,
where my heart could sing songs of joy

and far too little time I had invested in you,
how should I have known that I would make an oath with you?

III

How should I have know that I would make a oath with you
before I met you,
have a concept of such intimate feelings,
as with which you are part of my whole world?

How must I have know the meaning
of faith, love and hope
and about professing of true love
before our lives started together

on ways that I could not expect
and could learn to love
past events, years and times reaching to maybe,
that you are part of everything in me?

I want to love you as in days long past,
in the winter of my life.

IV

In the winter of my life
when all the trees around me stand skeleton,
with stripped branches shivering in the wind,
with sometimes a thunder bashing down

I sometimes remember the look in your sea-green eyes
where colours so secretly come together,
even when my body bend like branches, bended by age
as if in my thoughts they are looking forever at me,

it’s as if a new spring just have got to come,
as if your arms surround my neck,
with you flowering anew
as a angel of light

it’s sometimes as is you are with me,
when the morning starts with its first rays.

V

When the morning starts with its first rays,
with the sky changing from twilight grey to blue,
hang with the moon still hanging white
I am caught like a lizard

that prays to the sun,
where it’s rising white hot,
where I sit before your photograph
that shows every bit of your beauty,

but the nights and months past
while every day you look back
from that photograph
and I wonder if you still do love me?

and I think certainly, you are just as pretty,
when the sun throws its last rays over the trees.

VI

When the sun throws its last rays over the trees,
drawing shadows out long
before it reaches out
with long orange red rays

and the streetlights suddenly are awakening
give eyes to poles, becoming orange yellow
then I know
that you are somewhere else and just as pretty,

that you are laughing somewhere else,
caring after your children, doing your duties,
stretching yourself out for the night,
after kissing your children goodnight

and I am really longing while I am waiting,
I miss the way that you laugh in pleasure.

VII

I miss the way that you laugh in pleasure,
how you cry for a beautiful movie,
even expecting something good out of poor things,
how on a dark rainy night you shelter against me,

the way that you look at me,
the feelings that you bring to me,
as if you’re green eyes shines like the sea,
with every word going into my depths

but time takes an own road
and destiny is without mercy,
where at a time we both had to go different directions
and still try to jump over horizons with words

and maybe I have to court you again anew,
far too little I know about the things that lie between us.
