That it’s dangerous
That it’s dangerous
to travel alone
lots of people have told me
and I have also
read it in poems
and ask you to accompany me
to places where the night falls dark
and days that are sometimes without end
and oceans that are bluer
than anything that we know
to beaches that are soft, inviolate and white
which go past the horizon,
but more than this
I need you
as my comrade, companion
and life partner
to as pilgrims together
go into the wide world
so that minutes become hours,
days, months and years
and if at a time
we become refugees
from staying young
and life bit by bit
slowly pass away with time
I’ll love you
and you’ll adore me.

Days And Nights Go By (by R.b.)
days and nights go by
like friends and lovers
merely passing by us
not stopping not staying
know by now, life is
like that, too, merely
passing by, not staying,
pilgrims, yes, days
and nights are pilgrims,
always passing by,
not staying,
night not blacking out
day, not exploding
yes, just passing by
like poems that you
read, that you pass
by, and then we
begin again, we pass
again, not stopping
not staying, sometimes
not even glancing.....

As the hours drag on
the doctors rush to save her life
as the hours drag on
the day ends with no hope left
as the hours drag on
a nurse in forms a young girls family full of distress
as the minutes pass by
a young girl slowly dies
as the minutes pass by
a dieing girl whispers her last good byes
as the seconds tick past
she breaths her last breath
as seconds tick past
a family is struck with the truth that life does not last forever
months past in a blur
years will only dull the pain for the family
eternity till they will meet again

Days in Red
Days days days in red
In days days days ahead
The sun is in autumn light
And moon of glowing dark
Sky deep and high
Days days days in red
Flowing on hours in night
Where love lost its flight
Once those were alright
Now they no more spark
Days days days in red
In days days days ahead
The sun is in autumn light
Is there a horizon of ignite
Where hours go on by
Days days days in red
Flowing memories at sight
No feeling seems now right
But love's still inside
Come come babe now close abide
Days days days in red
In days days days ahead
The sun is in autumn light
Is there a horizon of ignite
Where hours go on by
Days days days in red

Love Time (Love Poem)
Time passes in a mystery of minutes and months,
Days and nights a survival of solitude and sleep,
Life and living becomes an unending wait for Now.
Now is just a Technicolor rush of with you again,
But our time together always is impossibly short,
So that leaving you again gets harder every time.
Why is time a new variable with the one I love?
Why are the colours of love so warm for us now?
Why do Cupid’s arrows still draw blood so red?
Why are grey days bright and rainy days soft?
Why after all these years do I feel like this?
Why is time with you in too-short seconds?
If only our love stopped the earth turning,
We could love in a frozen second of time,
Forever.

She Is Mother Nature Keeper of Our Lives!
She stands upon the shores of time
Contemplating the rhythm of time
She bends slowly like a graceful swan
To dip her hands into the cool essence of life
She watches the ripples as they flicker through the water
Cascading into seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, years
Generating the life of a child she watches
As it grows from baby to toddler to young child
Then onto turbulent years of teenager and young adult
The ripples cascading through the years
As the child becomes a man/woman
She gasps at how the flow of life shifts into the ripples of time
She watches as the ripples decide what fate beholds them next
She smiles at souls as it changes their hues of colours to blend with life
She is the essence that all there is
She is a beauty within
She is Mother Nature the keeper of our Lives

Time Re Written
Time goes fast
Time goes slow
Time sees love ones pass
Time sees the living grow
Time finds it hard to forget
Time can store up treasures and sorrows, and very hard to let go...
Time rushes fast
Time stops and starts
Time is shown by nights turn into days
Time makes all the seasons change
Time is going slowly at times but
Time can race you across the line
Time awaits for you to have peace but
Time can also hide sadness deep
Time is sometimes patient
Time can be kind
Time often cruel and
Time can be so so unkind
Time is a second
Time is minute, hour, even days and months
Time is not possible for us to keep
But right now...I wish time will not pass me by
Nor it slip back into yesterday day...
For i have much to look forward
In Time...and much more afar
I am certain now that
Time is a precious thing and will bring along amazing things...
Time...more time...and much much time
And somehow i feel a bit lost at this...
Time
Perhaps only when the dark night comes at long last
I will stop thinking about
Time
For time will no longer matter then
And only then... until then
Each second, Every minute...Even hour and all these Endless days
Bientôt mon chéri, venez à moi

Few Minutes in the Dark
A few minutes in the dark.
What kind of dark?
No light shining?
Depression?
A reality check?
A few minutes in the dark can change you.
Change you how?
Change your outlook of life?
Change your personality?
Cause you to sin?
A few minutes in the dark is dangerous.
How is it dangerous?
Swallow you up in fear.
Never feel happiness.
No more friends.
No more family.
No more love.
No more life.
No more light.
A few minutes in the dark is scary.
You see the evil in the world with no light.
You lose your light for a few minutes and soul dies.
You lose a person, a loved one, every single second.
You lose sight of them and they're gone forever.
A few minutes in the dark and you cant see anything.
No more things that coused you joy or filled with love.
A few minutes in the dark.
It takes only 30 seconds for a child to be kidnapped.
Then after that, they fall to the darkness.
Soul burned out, and love gone.
Another life fallen to the darkness.
A few minutes in the dark.
When you left the light, there is no turning back.
A few minutes in the dark, and you lose sight.
Lose sight of the light.
See what happens in the dark?
A few minutes in the dark.
Causes death.
A breakup between lovers and one points a gun to their head.
A few minutes in the dark and you die.
The light will be sealed from you along memories.
Memories of light and love.
The two things the dark can never have.
Light and love.
A few minutes in the dark.
And you cant remember your friends.
Did you even have friends?
A few minutes in the dark can change your way of thinking.
Reminding you of death at every corner.
You wander forever not ever finding the light.
A few minutes in the dark will change you forever.
Happiness always has its sadness.
Sadness always has its happiness.
Where there is life, there is death waiting around the corner.
Where there is death, there is life some where waiting.
Death is darkness.
You cant find your light if you cant handle a few minutes in the dark.
And maybe people are still stuck in the dark and we dont notice.
Reach your hand out and show them the light.
Everyone around us may look happy but they dont see the light.
A few minutes in the dark is a very sad place to be in.
Your blinded and confused.
you dont feel love and people all around us will always be in the dark,
waiting for a friend to pull them out.
There will be better days

Around & Around
This song was first released on the poems, prayers and promises album. it is the only album it has been released on.
Time as Ive known it
Doesnt take much time to pass by me
Minutes into days turn into months turn into years
They hurry by me
Still I love to see the sun go down
And the world go around
Dreams full of promises
Hopes for the future
Ive had many
Dreams I cant remember now
Hopes that Ive forgotten
Faded memories
Still I love to see the sun go down
And the world go around
And I love to see the morning
As it steals across the sky
I love to remember
And I love to wonder why
And I hope that Im around
So I can be there when I die
When Im gone
I hope that you will think of me
In moments when youre happy
And youre smiling
That a thought will comfort you
On cold and cloudy days
If you are crying
Still I love to see the sun go down
And the world go around
And around and around

Help Myself
A hungry boy
In a town of one hundred more
The food is out the door
Makes me want to help myself, help my-
A river red
Pouring from the side of his head
A bullet through the brain
Make him feel different today
Oh, colder grow the days
Oh, must faster pass the years by
til we die
A treasure not my own
I take it, tuck it, nobody will notice
Well that suits me well
Big house, big yard, help myself, help myself
You know, every once in a while
To help the helpless comes into style
Mercy, mercy mile
1-800-help-myself, help myself
Oh, colder grow the days
Oh, much fast pass the years by
Oh, colder grow the days
Oh, much faster pass the years by
til we die
Summers here were dancing in the daisies
Summers rain burns holes in the flowers
Dangerous hours
Dangerous hours
Dangerous hours
Every now and then
Tv preachers tell of heaven
Redemption for a penny a soul
1-800- help-yourself, help yourself
Help yourself, oh
Summers here, were swimming in the river
Summer rain, come down, come down, come down, come down yeah
Summers here, were dancing in the daisies
Summer rain burns holes in the flowers
Dangerous hours
Dangerous hours
Dangerous hours

In The Darkness I Got Up
(after Breyten Breytenbach)
In the darkness I got up
saw you in the rays of the moon
while the gulls was screeching endlessly outside
with some flying to the endless ocean
and the yesterdays disappeared with every morning,
night fled away before each day's sunshine
with our being together
that came as a kind of healing for any previous pain
and on the far road that we have been travelling on
things were now wide and open,
while I read true love in your eyes,
healing for every fear and endless hope,
we went pass every horizon
with days going on and on
and your dreams also became mine
while nothing could hinder us
with the milk white beaches that stretched out around us
you told me your deepest secrets,
your tongue braided intimately around mine,
continuously we courted each other
while my verses went through to your depths,
each new morning brought hope and more love
that captured us again with each other,
with joy that we found in the smallest thing
while the sea threw out shells endlessly on the beaches,
the wind and sea everywhere scattered sand
it felt if every day was summer,
you were suntanned, far past being only lovely.

Days Without Poems
DAYS WITHOUT POEMS
Days without poems-
Nights without poems-
A time of life without poems-
No poems anywhere.
Empty inside
Running outside
Tired.
No inner energy
No great urgency in feeling
Nothing.
In the emptiness inside of no- poems
I pass this time without song.

Our Tomorrows
Minutes fold into hours,
hours fold into days
and days fold into years
that quickly disappear away.
One day we are young
and then we are old
as time carries on
until we are no more.
In our universe,
we are alive no more
than a giant's
blink of an eye.
We strive to be remembered
in whatever field
we inspire to do
and never to be forgotten.
We try to live
a life to full measure
as if our tomorrows
depend on our today's.

The empty evenings are the most difficult (in answer to Mandi Engelbrecht)
The empty evenings are the most difficult
when alone I write poems,
when I sometimes listen to Classic Fm
while I have got nothing to do,
the two old people
go to bed when darkness comes
and we say our prayers,
at times they insist
that I watch a religious DVD with them
and they talk about the news
and newspaper reports
but much too soon the evening is past
and the cocker spaniel
looks at me with her dark eyes
while the Persian cat goes outside to hunt,
and I read poems of some English friends
one after the other.
I am still searching for a job
which circles out wider,
almost away from me
while I spent my spare time
on what I can find in the library
on poetry of some great poets,
to teach myself techniques, methods, style,
and to find ideas
and it's as if the wide world
waits upon my new poems
and sometimes I mow the lawn,
and help here and there in the garden,
see the flock of sparrows,
weavers and doves coming near,
and I dare poems to repair my country,
my world, to tell people
who can make a difference
about the things happening here
and my days and nights are empty without you
but our relationship went to hell
by your own choice
and I have got a new mistress
whose name is poetry
and she is a whimsical lover
who serves others much better
before she visits me at night,
to share my pain, my sorrow and memories
and most of the time I try to know her better,
to know the rhythm, the methods of her existence,
to find that which makes her great
and one after the other my days pass,
while I wonder when things are going to change,
while I try day after day to survive
and I know that I cannot hold on to the past
and I know
that I can write almost any kind of poem
and still at times I wonder
what is happening far away in your world?

Months Of Long Duration
All those phantom months
months of long days passing
day after hard working day
during all that time
day after weary day
day after endless day
during all that time
no word from you
no support from you
days you would spend
ten twelve hour days
playing computer games
day after day after day
level after level after level
in each favourite game
this is your chosen world
your world where you compete
your world you do not share
in all that playing time
in all those endless days
no time could you spare
not even thirty minutes
not even once not once
to support a true friend

To Travel Back In Time
If I could have the chance
To jump through the distances of time
If I could have the chance to travel back in time centuries ago
To those days to find the Innocency who is lost from the world
Take my soul to the real love!
Take me to those days where purity and goodhearted people still survived
Take me to the people with no colored hearts
If I could have the chance
To jump through the distances of time
to travel back in time to the black and white to jump through the screen and enter to one of those old movies and there I would love to survive
Take me back in time to
glory days of love
Where the love was boundless and honesty still alive
Take me to those days where the lovers survived through the pain and vain
but love never died
Please save my soul I can't bear all these lies

Once Upon A Time
Meeting you in the park and talking in the pouring rain
(oh what a time we had)
Running home in the dark and pretending it was all a game
(oh what a time)
Those were the days, those were the days
Memories of you have really left a scar
And all that I can do now is to love you from afar
cos everything was fine
That once upon a time
Asking you if youd stay, not believing that you might
(oh what a time we had)
Missing you through the day, dreaming of you through the night
(oh what a time)
Those were the days, those were the days
Though theres no denying that youre nowhere around
I cant help myself from looking for your face amongst the crowd
cos everything was fine, that once upon a time
Have to leave the past behind me and get on the right track
Though theres nothing I can say that will ever bring you back
But everything was fine, that once upon a time
I wish I knew for how much longer this misery will last
Cant control these feelings, Im still living in the past
cos everything was fine, that once upon a time
Ive got to build my life again, try to find somebody new
But I know inside my heart of hearts therell be no replacing you
But everything was fine, that once upon a time

Death Of A Teacher
Thirteen years older
but hardly wiser
I return to my past
to find you
six months dead.
Still alive in this head
is memory of you
and our infamous
three days and nights
sustaining on
sunflowerseeds
and moonshine.
as we pissed the
hours & days
away
till I gave up
and went home
alone
to the biggest
hangovers ever.
You died
an alcoholic at
fourtyfive, and I
wonder at the
caurse of your
excessive
indifferent
recklessness.
Did someone
break your heart,
or did you just
loose faith in life
or yourself?
We toasted to
Night & Day
Black & White
Life & Death
Us & Them
This ones to
You.

Living Off Of Memories
I am living off of memories--
Just wasting my time....
The hours pass into days...
And there is no reason nor rhyme;
Blue skies have gone missing-
Replaced by dark grey--
The Sun has taken its leave---
And the night has replaced day;
Springtime no longer exists-
All the blossoms are withered and dry--
Summer times brillance...
For me has just died;
I am living of of memories--
Just wasting my time...
The hours pass into days
There is no reason nor rhyme;
All that is left is a remnant...
Of days spent with you...
The fabrric of yesterdays love...
Now distant from view;
It is far off and laying atop-
Our love making bed...
Just a remnant-a remnant...
Of loving words once said;
I am living off of memories--
Just wasting my time...
The hours pass into days--
There is no reason nor rhyme;
I'm caught in the between...
Of yesterdays time...
Back in that sweet day---
When you were once mine;

Timely Matters
I count my days
By the breaths I take
For in those breaths
Come a hope of better tomorrow
For secounds turn to minutes
Minutes into hours
Hours into to days
They will go on after
I am gone
So with each breath I am blessed
To see all the Lords provided
This miracle called life
Which time is only a play thing
