Beat A Drum

The sun reflected in
The back of my eye.
I knocked my head against the sky.

The dragonflies are busy buzzing me.
A seahorse as if we were in the sea.

Half way from coal
Half way from diamond.
My fall knocked a mean chip out of me.
Gathering as far as I can reach.
Perched up on a precipice
And this is what I've seen.

This is all I want

This is all I want,
Its all I need.
This is all I am.
This is all I want,
Its all I need.
A bluejay hectors from the felled catalpa tree.
Doctorate in science and the theologians dream.
The dragonflies are trying to lecture me.
A seahorse as if we were in the sea.
But this is all I want,
Its all I need.
This is all I am,
Its everything.
This is all I want,
Its all I need.
Beat a drum for me
Like a butterfly wing.
Tropical storm across the ocean.
But dont explain Im sure Ill want to know
But dont forget were just halfway from home.
This is all I want,
Its all I need.
This is all I am,
Its everything.
This is all I want,
Its all I need.

You Have Not Knocked

You've never not...
Come to knock.
Come to knock,
At my door...
With words 'I told you so! '

You've never not...
Come to knock.
Come to knock,
At my door...
With words 'I told you so! '

When I had been in double struggles,
You have not knocked.
Or when I had been on my knees,
You have not knocked.
And when I felt grumpy and crunchy,
You have not knocked.
Or when I've asked you to leave me,
You have not knocked.

You know I can get really moody,
But, you have not knocked.
And carry drama to extremes,
No, you have not knocked.
You've stuck with me when I've been stinky,
And, you have not knocked.
To me you are my 'everything',
And I love you a lot.

You've never not...
Come to knock.
Come to knock,
At my door...
With words 'I told you so! '

You've never not...
Come to knock.
Come to knock,
At my door...
With words 'I told you so! '

Whenever I've been down and dumpy,
You have not knocked.
Or when I've picked my wounds to bleed so,
You have not knocked.
And when I pout with rudeness rooted,
You have not knocked.
Or when I whined consistently,
No, you have not knocked.

You know I can get really moody,
But, you have not knocked.
And carry drama to extremes,
But, you have not knocked.
You've stuck with me when I've been stinky,
And, you have not knocked.
To me you are my 'everything',
Because of patience you've got.

You've never not...
Come to knock.
Come to knock,
At my door...
With words 'I told you so! '

You've never not...
Come to knock.
Come to knock,
At my door...
With words 'I told you so! '

And...
In my heart you are adored.
That's what I need to show you more.

Half The World

Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson
Half the world hates
What half the world does every day
Half the world waits
While half gets on with it anyway
Half the world lives
Half the world makes
Half the world gives
While the other half takes
Half the world is
Half the world was
Half the world thinks
While the other half does
Half the world talks
With half a mind on what they say
Half the world walks
With half a mind to run away
Half the world lies
Half the world learns
Half the world flies
As half the world turns
Half the world cries
Half the world laughs
Half the world tries
To be the other half
Half of us divided like a torn-up photograph half of us are
Trying to reach the other half
Half the world cares
While half the world is wasting the day
Half the world shares
While half the world is stealing away

Dragonflies

Dragonflies
why so busy,
why so many?
Is there anyone of you
who can tell your stories?

Dragonflies
why so busy,
why so many?
are you working,
or just playing?

Dragonflies
why so busy,
why so many?
why don't you come
and rest beside me.

Dragonflies
why so busy,
why so many?
Is there anyone of you
who wants to hear my story?

A Diamond Or A Coal?

A diamond or a coal?
A diamond, if you please:
Who cares about a clumsy coal
Beneath the summer trees?
A diamond or a coal?
A coal, sir, if you please:
One comes to care about the coal
What time the waters freeze.

Half The World

Half the world lives,
Half the world makes,
Half the world gives
While the other half takes.

Half the world hates,
Half the world runs away,
Half the world's late,
Half the world praises the day.

Half the world is,
Half the world was,
Half the world thinks,
Half the world does.

Half the world lies,
Half the world burns,
Half the world cries
While the other half turns.

Half the world cares,
Half the world weeps,
Half the world shares,
Half the world keeps.

Half the world sings,
Half the world laughs,
Half the world brings,
Half the world tries to be the other half.

End.

If I Had Not Knocked

You did not know when I came to knock.
I came to give and not to take.
I came to share...
And to stay!
If you and I wanted it to happen that way.
And you would not have known that,
if I had not knocked.

If I had not knocked.
But I did.
And I am here.

I came because of you and your love.
And If I could not give it...
You and I would not be here with this need!
I came to give and not to take.
And I recognize your desires are mine as well.

If I had not knocked.
But I did.
And I am here.

Heads

Looking at all of your friends
Wishing you could be like them
Running on glass floors again
Just so you can be knocked down
Swimming in oceans of pain
Trying as it pulls you in
Wrapping your heart up in chains
Cause someone always lets you down
Get inside my head
Get inside my head
Get inside my head
And light it up again
I wonder do you feel the same
Waiting for the days to end
Lying with thoughts that invade
They smother you and everyone
Flying on feelings again
Biting on a poison tounge
Climbing up mountains of pain
Just so you can be knocked down
Get inside my head
Get inside my head
Get inside my head
And light it up again
Get inside my head
Get inside my head
Get inside my head

Baby Britain

Baby britain feels the best floating over a sea of vodka
Separated from the rest
Fights problems with bigger problems
Sees the ocean fall and rise
Counts the waves that somehow didnt hit her
Water pouring from her eyes
Alcoholic and very bitter
For someone half as smart youd be a work of art
You put yourself apart
And I cant help until you start
We knocked another couple back
The dead soldiers lined up on the table
Still prepared for an attack
They didnt know theyd been disabled
Felt a wave a rush of blood
You wont be happy til the bottles broken
And youre out swimming in the flood
You kept back you kept unspoken
For someone half as smart youd be a work of art
You put yourself apart
And I cant help until you start
You got a look in your eye
When youre saying goodbye
Like you wanna say hi
The light was on but it was dim
Revolvers been turned over
And now its ready once again
The radio was playing crimson and clover
London bridge is safe and sound
No matter what you keep repeating
Nothings gonna drag me down
To a death thats not worth cheating
For someone half as smart youd be a work of art
You put yourself apart
And I cant help until you start
For someone half as smart youd be a work of art
You put yourself apart

Got to Knock Those Fences Down

We've got to knock,
Those fences down!
And every opposition,
Creating tensions mentioned.

Those defenses we keep hanging around...
Gotta be knocked knocked knocked to the ground.
Minimizing mistakes once made.
And lay purpose to correct our ways.

They will stand up in dismay,
To say they dislike what is said.
Those feeble beavers.
Munching on foundations.
Degrading with fixations...
To increase their greed,
Feeding sickened mentalities.

While some choose to sniff for floral scents...
Refusing to acknowledge,
The presence of decadence.
Hoping to get as high as possible...
On pretense and attempts,
For meaningless attention.

Those defenses we keep hanging around...
Gotta be knocked knocked knocked to the ground.
Minimizing mistakes once made.
And lay purpose to correct our ways.

We've got to knock,
Those fences down!
And every opposition,
Creating tensions mentioned.

A Barefoot Boy

A barefoot boy! I mark him at his play --
For May is here once more, and so is he, --
His dusty trousers, rolled half to the knee,
And his bare ankles grimy, too, as they:
Cross-hatchings of the nettle, in array
Of feverish stripes, hint vividly to me
Of woody pathways winding endlessly
Along the creek, where even yesterday
He plunged his shrinking body -- gasped and shook --
Yet called the water 'warm,' with never lack
Of joy. And so, half enviously I look
Upon this graceless barefoot and his track, --
His toe stubbed -- ay, his big toe-nail knocked back
Like unto the clasp of an old pocketbook.

Someones Knocking

Someone knocked my door round about half past four this morning
Despite what I said, I was out of bed still yawning
Well thats it once again, someone knocking
Going through my head wish theyd stop it
I walked down the stairs just a little bit scared - apprehensive
With a few judged words that shouldnt be heard reprehencin
Well thats it once again, someone knocking
Going through my head wish theyd stop it
So I opened up just to take a look, was I dreamin?
There was no-one there just the cold night air - I was dreamin
Going through my head wish theyd stop it

Toy Soldiers

Soliders
Standing tall and proud
Marching in the rain
Brave and corageous
Facing what I don't know I could
Yet still knocked down
Our toy soliders

Bullets and guns
Death spelled in red
Dying for what?
Hopeless wars that will continue
Even as our toy soliders are knocked down
They get back up again
Trying the end meaning less killings

Our toy soldiers

I Want My Reality On a Gradual Basis

You want this high or low?
'What? '
The blows of reality,
I am prepared to hit you with.

'Will they be painful? '
Let's just say,
When it happened to me...
I was glad to have been knocked out.

'Why? '
When I finally revived...
I was no longer excusing my limitations.
But it took several blows to my head...
To get some sense knocked into it!

'Make my blows low.
I can deal with the pain.
And I want a slower process.

I want my reality on a gradual basis,
To come to me.
I am not quick to adapt to changes.'

Looking For A Prince

A spirited girl
With long blonde hair, long legs to match.
Her clear eyes untroubled
Waiting on the cusp of life
For prince charming to appear,
Appear and whisk her off,
Off to his mansion in the sky.
So fall in love she did,
In love with a tall dark man,
A man of swarthy skin.
With eyes so deep,
Deep blue eyes in which to swim
And see the oceans depths.
But then came the babies one, two, three.
Money grew tight and she grew thin
And love flew out the door.
The prince turned into an ogre
Making her blue eyes black.
Now her spirit is knocked out
And she knocked up
Is knocked about
And the prince?
He's nowhere to be seen.

You're So Foxy

you caught my fall makeing out on alcohol
An innocent mistake
Falling in love on accident,i didn't mean to
constant danger,constant stranger
it started out so sweet
and know we're both feel'in incomplete
i don't know how much i can take
we're on we're off
we're knocked down and getting up
we try to fight it,the agony and ecstacy
and it's painful but it's worth it
'cause you're so foxy and i think you're kinda good for me
you're so foxy
mental earthquakes,conversation mistakes
my army of words
i can't believe you're crawling back for more out of disire
destiny or chemicals,emotions are susceptable
and you can't resist
i can't seem to walk away from this
so show me how much you can take, are you in or out?
you're knocked down and getting up
you kinda like it,all the agony and ecstasy
and it's painful,i'm sorry
but you're so foxy i can't let you get away from me
'cause you're so foxy
so get out of my way i'm feeling so in love today
it can't be understood
and when i'm feeling good it's really good
the kinda good that feels like fate
we're back and forth
we're knocked down and getting up
we try to fight it,the agony and ecstacy
and it's painful but it's you're fault
'cause you're so foxy and you got yourself all over me
you're so foxy
And i can't take it ,it's hard to take it
i can't take it
it's painful but it's worth it
'cause you're so foxy
i think your kinda good for me

The Other Olympians

The Diver leapt off the high board
but missed the water and hit the floor
then his team-mate went and did the same
so the judges gave them a nil score.
The Cyclist set off in his opening heat
but he got a puncture half way round
when he was given a replacement bike
he fell off it hitting his head on the ground.
The Boxer said he'd win the Gold Medal
but in the first round got knocked out the ring
he ended up lying prone amongst the spectators
and a week later he still can't recall a thing.
The Javelin thrower said he felt really good
and he would beat the opponent from Denmark
but his Javelin got caught by a gust of wind
and it ended up outside the arena in the car park.
The Weightlifter raised the bar above his head
but his legs suddenly wobbled and turned to jelly
he ended up collapsed lying on the stage in a heap
with the heavy weight sitting perched on his belly.
These are the other Olympians who never win a medal
but they go out there and just try their best
just like the unlucky Gymnast who's shorts fell down
leaving him standing there in just his vest!
