My God witnesses every thing
My God witnesses every thing,
the woman crying at night
about the child that she doesn’t get,
the robbers sneaking around in the day
driving away with stolen cars,
the poor living in shacks
who have to live on a paupers wage,
the farmer working in his fields
who goes home at dusk,
the barbarians that assault him later
and kill him with panga blades
and there’s nothing that passes by my Lord
and on His time His justice follows,
His salvation and wondrous deeds unfold
and every day He sets the way
that every one of us go on.

Not with a machinegun, but with a pen (in answer to Breyten Breytenbach)
Not with a machinegun, but with a pen
I write this prayer
since Your might is greater than any weapon:
What am I able to tell You, Jesus Christ,
almighty Creator, God and upper Lord,
I who are only an Afrikaner in my forties,
since You know every thing, even before it happens
and there’s nothing that I can teach You.
How my country was taken away
by people who pray to ancestral spirits
(who probably are demons) ,
that a man with more than one wife
sit in the highest chair,
that I still pay taxes
when and where I have a job
and that it is difficult times
and work is very scarce
for a white man.
Would I have to tell about a government
that sings give me my machinegun
and a bullet for a Boer
and kill the farmer,
kill the white
as You know every thing.
That my people were disarmed
by the government
and by barbarians
are hacked into pieces
with panga-blades and axes
like you were sacrificed
and even in death
they are humiliated
by pulling their pants down
like You had to hang naked on the cross,
that women are raped
as if every white woman
is a sex slave
belonging to the hordes
that they still throw knucklebones
and think that it brings them invincibility
and freedom from blame.
l’Envoi
All that I am really asking
is that all of these deeds
and the things that they do, say and sing
go into the cup of Your wrath
and please help
my people and me
to serve You better
that the wide world
(like with our ancestors)
can see Your might and salvation.

Home invasion
A bullet for a Boer
and kill farmer,
kill a white
still rages on from
the ruling party
where members are singing it
from the age of eight
and in a rural district
a home invasion takes place
in the middle of the night
a male family member
is shot through the shoulder
tied up with wire
bashed with a baseball bat,
chopped with a panga-blade
and before getting to hospital
he is dead.
The woman in the house
is led to a room
where they are tied up
and are raped
and everything valuable
is carried away
And the incapable police
can find nobody
and the killers go free
and are still missing
like my two stolen cars.

After Ventersdorp,4 April 2010
In storm language the wind talks
blind full of thunder
that draws blue lines
over the tar road
and the Jacarandas wriggle,
washing on balconies are jerked
and now angry
the wind howls and cries
and I see lightning bolts
slamming down near the Union Buildings.
Rows of maize fields greet me
where the knobs stand green
and there’s no peace
coming from the greeting
and in vain is waited on the murdered farmer
and somewhere there are cattle bellowing
but not for long anymore
as the slaughterers
are sharpening their Panga-blades
and have already violated the farmer
his wife and daughter,
have stolen what they can
and nobody can stop the plunder and pillage
of the country
as a swarm of locust are descending.

They came in the middle of the night (in reply to Daniel P. Kunene)
They came in the middle of the night
in a huge crowd, almost like a lynching gang
the type who previously had torched,
burned their own alive
and in their hands were panga-blades,
spades, crowbars, pistols
and AK-47 sub-machineguns
and then there were the younger ones
who carried assegai spears and knives
and they were there to destroy home and hearth
to wipe the white farmer from the earth
singing: “a bullet for a white”
and had formed up like a ancient impi
in full might
and they assaulting the farmer, his children and wife
while shouting:
“Amandla! Amandla! Ngawethu! ”
and took law into their own hands,
robbed, tried to rape, to kill
while receiving an inhuman thrill from it.

Home invasion in Springs
Masked like the black criminals
that robs you of your car
and just there and there promises you death,
they arrived
with a mini bus taxi on the farm,
drove right through the farm gate
and at the front door
jumped out of the kombi
with five steps intruded into the house
to bring death to the farmer,
to rape the wife
and daughter.
The farmer heard the crash
at the gate,
he realized that it was big trouble
heard them in their own language command
to kill, while shot upon shot
was ringing from the front porch
and he though about the obliteration
of his whole family.
His wife was too far away
in the lounge busy with sewing
and he heard his daughter rushing screaming
to her mother
turned about hurried to the gun safe
and got hold of a pump action shotgun
with LG cartridges
and rushed down the hallway.
In the lounge four black criminals
aimed pistols at his daughter and wife
told them to strip themselves bare
and when they did not want to
one said to the others in his language
to kill them
while the farmer was sneaking
closer at the back of the lounge suite.
Just one glance from the farmer
made his wife and daughter fall to the ground
two shots came from the shotgun
lifting two of the gangsters right from their feet
and the other two started shooting
into the ceiling
and the wall of the lounge
and when the farmer fired again
they fled in fear to the outside
turning around to fire at the farmer
and another one dropped in his tracks,
the other ran wounded into the cornfield.
At the start the police, wanted to arrest
the farmer for the murder of the robbers,
but there was more than enough evidence
that it was self-defence,
even the farm workers
were witnesses
about the shooting, threat
of the robbers
and by his actions
the farmer saved himself, his wife and daughter
and the labourers praised him
as a kind and a just man
but at the church
some members regarded the farmer
as a mass killer
who had determined the fate of others with a shotgun.

Robbers
Robbers are everywhere,
titled with honors.
They live like kings,
Action of them stings.
When they rob in millions,
as commissions,
actually they let others
to rob in billions.
Those who talk about justice,
corrupt free nations at their home,
bribe our politicians,
to rob from our poor nations.
What you preach can be practiced,
in double standard?
To let your own country to prosper,
why do you let us, the poor, to suffer?
The honorable robbers,
are our politicians,
who rob our peace,
our future and the sleep.

I will tell everyone
Pull a machinegun, a pistol,
a panga-blade, a knife
and say: “white man give me a reason
to kill you today.”
Rob my cars,
take whatever belongs to me
and even if the police
cannot catch the criminals
and the government looks the other way
as if the robberies, the killings
are not happening
and while I am still living
I will tell everyone, the whole world
about the gangster’s paradise that I live in.

Coo coo, thats you, wonder why I love you, you do voodoo, thunder clouds above you
Crazy, kooky, lazy spooky, oh what a clown, always around
And I have found youre a woman. child woman. woman child
Long legged woman when I see you walking you look good
Hey little woman when I hear you talking you sound good
Child woman, woman child youre driving me wild child woman woman child
Youre into my mind then youre out of my mind child woman
You wind and unwind my mind, time after time child woman ooh child woman, yeah child woman
Flying uptight, dont know where youre going, trying your kite when the wind is blowing
Funny lady, sunny, shady off to the fair, sun in your hair

Strong minded woman when you start groovin you look fine

We are witnesses to view these deeds
we are here
the living witnesses
to view God's
creations,
the compact grain of sand
containing the whole
of this universe
the drops of rain
his blessings to the earth
the wings of birds
the flights of flocks
we are pilgrims
we come naked
we go home naked
we take nothing
we bring nothing
here we are as witnesses
in awe
in wonder
to God's wondrous deeds
Praise Him
forever
the 'hands of my heart are clapping'
my lips are singing
my heart is jumping with joy
Praise Him
Our God forever....

A Living Wage!
a living wage....
seems like not so much
to ask... after 40 years
of
...working
.....daylight
.........to
...........dusk....
feeding someone elses dream...
America the great,
...America the fallen,
can
...you
.....not hear?
can
...you
.....not
.......feel?
the men and women
that built your highways,
your cities and towns...
worked your mills,
your factories, your farms,
are crying out!
we have to eat too!
we need shelter!
we need hope!
honest hard working people...
is this
...how you
......pay us back?
do you remember our names?

A Working Man
I am a working man
up from dawn to dusk.
I till the fields to keep my family fed.
The soil is not my right,
but a gift to me.
If I handle it with care,
crops every year it rewards me.
I am a working man
and when my day is done,
the warmth of my family
fills the place I call home.
Every morning I see
the wonders of the rising sun
and as night approaches,
I watch the moon come up.
My life is sometimes hard,
but I know satisfaction of a job well done.
It is our daily bread,
where our money comes from.
God blessed me with this land
and I look after it for him.
For I am a working man
up from dawn to dusk.

Keep Driving
Another new york waltz at four a.m.,
In the canyons lost at night
The citys just a jail for me, full of high rise prison walls
And Im riding through this darkness,
cause I know theres life within
And Im searching through the shadows,
Just to find that light again
Keep driving (keep driving),
Let the meter run
Keep driving (keep driving),
Oh the nights not really done
Keep driving
And Im hanging on a memory, and I feel it in the air
Im a prisoner of these lonely streets,
But I know Ill find you there
And oh lord, you look so pretty,
But you can see it in my eyes
And just before my tear will fall, oh you smile and get inside
It seems so real until the light turns green
Dont wake me up, dont ruin this dream, dont take me from my scene
Keep driving, keep driving,
Keep driving, keep driving,
I cant go home, dont take me home, I cant go home alone
They dont tell you when the music stops,
Or how the movie ends
Is it too late once the feelings gone,
To back it up and start it all again?
Oh lord you look so pretty,
And you can see it in my eyes
And just before that tear will fall, oh you smile and get inside
(keep driving) keep driving, driving
I cant go home, dont take me home, I cant go home alone
(keep driving) let the meter run,
(keep driving) dont take me home
(keep driving) ooh, the nights still young
(keep driving) I gotta find someone,
(keep driving) I gotta find someone,
(keep driving) I gotta find someone,
(keep driving) I gotta find someone,
(keep driving) ooh find someone,
(keep driving) I gotta find someone,
(keep driving) find someone,
(keep driving) find someone,
(keep driving, keep driving, keep driving, keep driving, keep driving)

Women's Intuition
My women's Intuition gives me this sneaking suspicion
that the truth is really different from this story you're presenting
My Women's Intuition says something has changed
Something's very strange and I can't decide who's to blame
My Woman's Intuition keeps me up late at night
makes me wonder if its right if its even worth the fight
My Women's Intuition tells me somethings going down
Notices you're not around Catches every whispered sound
My Woman's Intuition is driving me crazy
Has me wondering 'maybe' What's been going on lately?
My Woman's Intuition puts these bugs in my ear
'Why isn't he here? ' 'Does he still even care? '
My Woman's Intuition senses something's wrong
Has known it all along Seems to be quite strong
My Woman's Intuition continues to bring it up
Wants to know what's up Made me look it up
My Woman's Intution saw every message you sent
Followed every where you went Tracked every minute you spent
My woman's Intuition took note of where you've been
Thinks it's time for this to end Doesn't want to be your friend

Run Crying Into The Night
Addictions in the home, parents fight
A child runs crying into the night
Hand over her mouth, he's there to rape
Woman runs crying into the night
Bullets are flying, kids are dying
Mothers run crying into the night
Bombs are dropping, houses exploding
People run crying into the night
The world turns evil, fear is building
Vicki runs crying into the night

How is possible that dreams here are broken? (in answer to fanie olivier)
How is possible that dreams here are broken,
with life suddenly becoming threatening
with black criminals attacking, sneaking in at doors
and every home is barred like a fortress?
From every alleyway a drug peddler peeps out
or there’s a street whore
that patrols up and down at the corner
and I am just another white Afrikaner
that see my country is falling apart,
I hear shots being fired at the child’s school
where car hijackers suddenly strike
and numerous crimes are being committed
and no crying bird have got to warn me
about the new upside-down existence,
that every strange black man may be a criminal or terrorist
while jobless I worry about bread for my table
and it’s no war zone or the border that I am visiting
but raping robbers strike at the home on the corner
where the police later ineptly
gather with numerous cars.

Still Loving Mas'sa
Yes'sa walmart
yes'sa Lowe's
yes'sa kfc
yes'sa Sam's club
yes'sa MC/Donald's
yes'sa burger king
etc...
You have kelp my people...
In the slave ring...
A non-living wage...
A non-comprehensive health care...
Working for you...
While seeking help at the county hospital...
Working for you and still...
Standing in a read line...
Tears are as the days of slavery...
Still loving mas'sa...
We had jobs even then...
No! health benefits...
Nop rise in wage...
There os no turn of the page...
Pimping me and mine...
Without wasting anytime...
Is still a crime...
Over time.
Non-amercians comes to this land...
Yet I am still less...then
That woman of man...
And you america gives me...
A job when you can...
And for that...
I stand.
Still loving Mas'sa...
Some food is better then no food...
Death means no food at all...
We've build many things in this land...
And America can't call me MAN.!
And for that I stand.
Lost my arm or leg...
Eye or ear...
And we still are not fee here.
Still loving mas'sa...
Respect me for who or what I am...
A man or woman with a family...
We need a comprehensive health care...
As well as a workable living wage...
I see 'willie lynch' at work here...
In this land of the free...
America your freedom and your willie lynch...
Works agaist me.
Mas'sa Mas'sa! let us be...
We evaluate our self esteem...
To those who died and the 'Dream'...
You my review if you will...
But our families 'America' you will not kill.
If you want me...
There is a standard,
You must OBEY.
A living wage starts today.
Do us as you do to others...
Respect us and our brothers.
A gun, we will not...
Pick up, and a dance we will not do.
So I guess there is no mo' loving you.
The constitution is remarkable...
And so is 'willie lynch'
God is watching in that sense...
So now we stand...
Not with rifle in hand...
But with paper and pin.
A man now and a man then.
Respect and self-esteem...
Will give us the know how...
Like that 'Apple a Day'
Education will be the way.
Still loving mas'sa,
We will no longer has to say...
My brothers and sisters before me,
Have made us see...
How to live in america and still be free.
Short not ourtselves,
And give life to everything else.

Untitled Poem - I
Once, one of my students read a book we had.
She was doing a history assignment on
the decline and fall of the Roman Empire
and crying. When I asked her why
she said Because. All those people died.
I said that if you start to cry for the dead
You won’t have much time for anything else.
Besides, after all the city people were killed
or died off, because their cultures got too high,
the barbarians kept some peasants alive
for their food value. Some barbarian raped
some peasant woman who produced
a child who ultimately produced you
and me, so there is this family continuity,
so don’t cry, it’s obvious, look around!
This is the reason why we Americans
are a nation of peasants and barbarians,

Im Not Alone
Im always on the run,
Restless searching the sun
Im on my way, its all a
Timeless never ending story
My life is a civil war,
Between all open doors
So little time so many
Goals left to achieve
Its ok, ok, ok,
Insecurity to live this way, I wonder?
Im not alone
Im not alone, Im just to deep in the game
Im not alone, no, Im on my way home
Ive changed the night to day but,
One day Ill have to pay
Mission impossible to build
A place for us two without walls
Im living day by day
I dont have to explain
There is no other solution Im afraid
Its ok, ok, ok,
Insecurity to live this way, I wonder?
Im not alone ( no, no, no )
Im not alone, Im just to deep in the game
Im not alone, no, Im on my way home
Im always here, dont you worry now
Im always here
I just need some time but
Im not alone
Im not alone, Im on my way home
Im here, Im standing on my own
Just a little bit tired
Im on my way home
Im not alone, Im on my way home
Im here, Im standing on my own
Just a little bit tired
Im on my way home
Im not alone
Im not alone now
Im not alone
I just need some time to get it right
Im not alone
Im not alone now
Im on my way home
Oh lord, Im not alone now
Oh lord, I just need some time to get it right
Oh lord, Im not alone now
Im on my way home.

Dusk and Dying
Dusk purple trees reach out high,
Gently brushing the Cotton Candy sky,
The nostalgic horizon passes by
And time races toward the time to die.
And I cannot help but wonder “But Why”?
Time is simply passing by, passing by,
Passing by….
But does it pause for me? Not I.
For me time simply passes by,
Like these leaves that patch this somber sky,
Time simply passes by
Like these leaves that have dried,
Skipping over the concrete, so spry.
“Simply live and let live! ” I try,
But life and living keep passing me by.
So, as my verse so aptly implies,
Whether I live, or whether I die,
I simply bid you fond goodbyes,
Like the sun as it sinks ‘low the cotton candy skies…
