In that bewitching summer (in answer to Wium van Zyl)

In that bewitching summer
when we were together, darling,
I remember the beaches stretching out pure white
as if they were drawing roads next to the ocean

and the sun hanging cheerful and golden,
not setting yet at eight o’clock,
the wind sometimes throwing grating sand
against us both

but especially how magical our love had been,
how the fingers of your hands were reaching for me,
the taste of your soft lips under mine,
how perfectly we fitted into each other

and where my life now draws lines in open spaces
I wish that I could draw you deep into my arms.

In The Darkness I Got Up

(after Breyten Breytenbach)

In the darkness I got up
saw you in the rays of the moon
while the gulls was screeching endlessly outside
with some flying to the endless ocean

and the yesterdays disappeared with every morning,
night fled away before each day's sunshine
with our being together
that came as a kind of healing for any previous pain

and on the far road that we have been travelling on
things were now wide and open,
while I read true love in your eyes,
healing for every fear and endless hope,

we went pass every horizon
with days going on and on
and your dreams also became mine
while nothing could hinder us

with the milk white beaches that stretched out around us
you told me your deepest secrets,
your tongue braided intimately around mine,
continuously we courted each other

while my verses went through to your depths,
each new morning brought hope and more love
that captured us again with each other,
with joy that we found in the smallest thing

while the sea threw out shells endlessly on the beaches,
the wind and sea everywhere scattered sand
it felt if every day was summer,
you were suntanned, far past being only lovely.

I know that you really love me

You press my hand
against you chest
and I feel life,
pulsing through you
and your hand
is soft on mine.

The smell of your hair
goes through to my soul
and your breath
is hot in my neck,
while I draw you
deeper into my arms.

It’s nice to have you
right against me
while we are lying wedged up
and I feel a nipple,
coming alive
and become hard under my fingers.

There’s intenseness in our kisses
and my tongue
braids around yours
and your skin is soft
under my fingers
and I see sparks
in your golden green eyes.

The picture on the TV
takes its own route
and we are unaware of it,
while love and lust and passion
are steaming between us.

When you lie soft against me
and I disappear in the depths
of your golden eyes,
I know that you really love me.

Keep Drawing

You are on the other side of a flower
I walk a wilderness
I see an ocean in you darling
You draw with a smile
Your art brings me hope
Hope I seem to have lost

Let me hear the sea
I awake in this dry sand
A picture on a prison cell
A tear mixed with a smile
A myth like a butterfly
I see you sitting by the shoreline

Some love acrylics
Some paint with watercolors
She likes to draw
Black and white filled with contrast
I have to write and play music
Can you hear my acoustic guitar?
Can you feel me?
I am so glad we met
Maybe someday we will touch

Keep drawing my darling

Pictures In The Sand

And Im gonna spend my time,
Drawing pictures in the sand for you.
And Im gonna ride the tide[? ],
And Im gonna make a rendezvous.
Sitting by the sea,
Sipping at my tea,
Drawing pictures in the sand,
And writing message to you.
Pictures in the sand (drawing pictures in the sand)
There is nothing I would rather do (there is nothing I would rather do)
Than just sit here in the sand (drawing pictures in the sand)
And think of thinks Id like to say to you (I love you true)
Every single day (every single day)
I waste my time away,
Drawing pictures in the sand,
And writing messages to you.
(all together)
Pictures in the sand. (drawing pictures in the sand)
Pictures in the sand.
If I didnt have a dime,
Would you still be loving me?
While I spend my whole life through,
Drawing pictures just for you.
But I could never draw my love,
Its so very hard to do.
Every single day,
I waste my time away,
Drawing pictures in the sand,
And writing messages to you.
Pictures in the sand. (drawing pictures in the sand)
Pictures in the sand. (do-bum, do-bum...)
Pictures in the sand. (drawing pictures in the sand)

Somewhere Beyond A Old Gold Mine

Somewhere beyond a old gold mine,
probably planted there by a bird,
I saw you reaching high against the blue sky,
with blossoms folding open in purity,
bursting open snow white,
at a rusted wheel that gnashed as it turned;
as a almond tree on top of a yellow-brown mine dump
while I was walking around curious.
Your branches were like angelic wings, white and pure,
was circled by the bright sunshine,
that splashed down your wide open branches,
where like fingers they were reaching for heaven,
your glory went to the depths of my soul
where very high you stood above everything.

Making Connections

Tendrils grappling in air
Making connections be
It the wind or something else
Out there

Just to hold on to what when

Thin green sword-like palm
Hawaiian leaves stretching to the
Blue skies and sun
Making connections to whatever
Is who knows what slices thin some
Spaces in between light and dark

Some shadows playing like small
Children in the night park playground

Anything to touch life
Yawning to what-is if-this-could-happen
Then what?

Powered Rockets bulleting to space stabbing
& Lots of jet nozzles buzzing to
Vast dark silence clean cutting lines
Colored smoke curving with light

Making connections to planetary skies
Moon, Venus, Jupiter

On to Pluto to Zeus what if
One baby-finger touching fine fish
Fins swimming in ocean-space out-there

Making connections in between haze & fog
What if it is there that which lies next to this
Next to us from far and they can be then near

We are all tendrils rockets baby fingers space ocean fish fins
Making connections this empty hands loosened fingers
Dripping sands and spilling fine touches to wind chimes

Pointing stretching making fingers in between
A short distance making always always

Connections to what if what if I am there too.
Chances are, you chase and find them, footprints

They were once, and they all left, just seconds away.

Dream Brother

(j. buckley/m. grondahl/m. johnson)
There is a child sleeping near his twin
The pictures go wild in a rush of wind
That dark angel he is shuffling in
Watching over them with his black feather wings unfurled
The love you lost with her skin so fair
Is free with the wind in her butterscotch hair
Her green eyes blew goodbyes
With her head in her hands
And your kiss on the lips of another
Dream brother with your tears scattered round the world.
Don't be like the one who made me so old
Don't be like the one who left behind his name
'cause they're waiting for you like i waited for mine
And nobody ever came...
Don't be like the one who made me so old
Don't be like the one who left behind his name
'cause they're waiting for you like i waited for mine
And nobody ever came...
Don't be like the one who made me so old
Don't be like the one who left behind his name
'cause they're waiting for you like i waited for mine
Nobody ever came
Nobody ever...
I feel afraid and i call your name
I love your voice and your dance insane
I hear your words and i know your pain
With your head in your hands and her kiss on the lips of another
Your eyes to the ground and the world spinning round forever
Asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over
Asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over
Asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over
Ah do you meet the one i love
And smell the one who loves you
Dream brother, dream brother, dream, dream
Dream asleep in the sand with the ocean washing over

Open Arms

Guess Ive got a lot of learning to do
About the way that you love.
If it had been left up to me,
Id given up a long time ago.
But youve got a way of wooing me,
Tender and true,
And though I dont deserve it,
Im falling into your
Open arms.
Your love has taken hold,
And I cant fight it;
Im giving in to your
Open arms.
They pull me to you;
They wrap your love around me;
Ill rest in your open arms.
Only yesterday the thought came the to me,
Is your love as deep as they say?
Wonder where those questions come from.
Soon as I learn, Ill chase them away.
cause Ive had a taste of tenderness,
Simple and true,
It drives away the doubting
And draws me into your
Open arms.
Your love has taken hold,
And I cant fight it.
Im giving in to your
Open arms.
They pull me to you;
They wrap your love around me;
Ill rest in your open arms.
Open arms.
Your love has taken hold,
And I cant fight it.
Im giving in to your
Open arms.
They pull me to;
They wrap your love around me;
Ill rest in your open,
Open arms.
Your love has taken hold,
And I cant fight it.
Im giving in to your
Open arms.
They pull me to you;
They wrap your love around me;
Ill rest in your open...(open arms).
I know, I know, I know,
And I cant fight it.
Im giving in to your
Open arms.
They pull me to;
They wrap love around me;
Ill rest in your open arms (open arms).

Avenue of My Body.

you pick up your brush
since gave up his words
and draws a line
and says that I am

I'm a bit more than that
2 dashes already enough

I take your hands
and gently paint some words
you no longer understands
then I paint my picture

I'm a bit more than that
2 dashes not enough

then, by drawing on me
which carbon paper
to see if you remember
Who I Am

I'm a bit more than that
a silhouette is not enough

A ghost you say
want something more solid?
open your hands
black ink seeping through his fingers

I'm a bit more than that
invisible ink and so thin

Black and white
really try scribble my Body
So I am
The pale line again

A whiskey Love

Through a glass of Whiskey I found her.
Her eyes, Flaming Blue, hiding a glance of Heaven
Her hair golden like the reflection of an English buttercup,
Open to the flirtations of the sun.

Her lips soft, pink,
Like the dawn over a distant tulip field,
With a promise to reveal, even more,
Moist, sweet, the taste of a woman

Her neck, slim, elegant, with a hint of summer,
Jeweled with faint dew drops from the evenings heat
Her shoulders, graceful, a ballerinas calling
Perfectly formed, a place for heroes,
To rest their head

Her arms slender, delicate, with a promise of an angels embrace
An embrace that could wash away, all your sins
Her dress clinging to her body, like the lilies in a pond,
Hiding the secrets below

Her wrist adorned with a single pearl,
But it is she who is more precious
No mortal offering could eclipse her.
Her hands soft, with a touch,
That I would gladly die for.

No ring, dare I wish?
Her legs, long, perfectly formed,
Made to move, like a gentle summer wind,
Caressing the flowers of some meadow,
In a faraway dream. Breathtaking.

When she walked the whole world stood still
She glanced, our eyes met
My soul was stolen,
Engulfed in flames of desire
My heart penetrated, laid bear with a love so rare,
My mind lost in sweet expectation.
A feeling beyond, any poets gaze

She smiled, my body quivered
For this moment, I would gladly lead the forlorn hope.
These seconds, I remember them so well.
I was overwhelmed by the closeness of her spirit,
Her presence commanding an invisible audience,
Of stolen glances, a vision of woman,
Of such form, such desire, such love.

Then like a gentle whisper, her body, brushed against mine
Leaving the air perfumed
Like orchids being carried by a holy dove.
Then my heart shattered, strewn across the floor,
Like yesterday’s confetti.
For the smile, was for someone else.

I've Come Down to the Ocean

I've come down to the ocean;
The ocean great and wide,
Of pure blue span
And soft white sand
And the beach's crashing tide.

I've come down to the ocean;
The sea so black and queer
Of lightless dark
And fiercest shark,
Where even fearless fear.

I've come down to the ocean;
The waters I can't grasp,
Of strangest deep,
And sunless sleep,
Where the breathing may not gasp.

I've come down to the ocean;
To sing its sea-spray song,
Of salty brine
And waves that shine
Before I've been too long.

Had Ocean Been My Confidant

Had ocean been my confidant
I'd have given it
All of my truths for safekeeping

Tales i would have written
Of seashells picking girls on beaches
Whose golden bodies were
Like isles of dreamland
But whose fates were
Like lines drawn in sand.

Had ocean been my confidant
I'd have given it
All my loneliness
I'd have walked with the wind
Clasping its finger in my fist
On distant paths
From whence no one comes back!

Had ocean been my confidant
I'd have given it all my depths
Stepping into its limitless
Blue bosom
I'd have made earth into my bark
Sky into my sails
I'd have made the woeful moment
Of separation
A connecting link between you and me.

Had ocean been my confidant!

Dance of Love

I ride on your thighs and I embrace you with my both hands
The wind scraps our deep love dance off with the sudden gusts
Our swift flicks it several times, its tip just touching the wet sand.
The sky is blue and leaves of our tree are covered with orange rust.

My hands moved down your body before reaching your hips
The predation tremor in the early life dance of thrills flounder
Cradling my body in your arms my warm lips are against your lips
Your thoughts made me shiver as my eyes wandered endlessly over

You take small steps and make the turn into and become a part of my dance.
In the next instant an explosion of dawn light and the stirrings of happiness herald
You gonna take me to a place where I can shine, take me high feel so high trance
I keep the new world in the grain of green, I see love in your eyes of emerald.

You keep real close, lover whispers to my ear, I fly to the heavens’ high
You run your fingers through my hair, then dance your lips in orbital circle
Yet another rip in the space time continuum, and a return of perfect fry,
Our love makes slain the sentinel, a deity who is surrounding our crepuscle

With the smell of turpentine

With the smell of turpentine
and paint in front of the fireplace
you paint magical lines
with blue, green and gold
and I look at you
while brush strokes
like magic make abstract images appear.

The Creator must have looked like this
while He looked at the world
while building it
and I see your golden eyes
looking carefully at the painting
and at times you frown
while you try to draw perfect lines
and light and colour
create magical feelings
and flow into each other
and you build shade and depth.

Gasping for breath lovely are you
while your fingers play with the brush
and there are more than curves and lines
from which your beauty comes.

Putting in the seed

Your body is soft and hot
where you lie,
stretched out on the bed.

Every part of your body
draws my eyes
and somehow there’s more,
than just need and lust
that awakes between us.

Two mounts with tipped peaks
rise up and down
and respond to soft touch
and your neck is slender
and slim under my lips.

You shiver as I touch your ears
and something in your eyes
make my manhood raise
and your soft fingers
lingers magically over me.

A curling patch
with tuffs of black hair
draws my fingers,
down to the hot and soft intensity
of becoming part of you.

a Hallowed moment hangs
between us
and when I enter you
there’s magic,
that envelops me
and we twist and rise
and sway
and your cries and moans
drives me wild
and I feel you shudder
under me
and the seed frizzes out.

Moments drag on and on
and I am putting the seed
into fertile ground
and I hear you breathe
and feel your heart beat
as part of me
and I am yours
and your hair brushes
soft and tickling
over my cheek
and there’s sparks
deep down in your golden eyes
and somehow I can feel God
in the love between us.

I loved all the love away

I loved all the love away
Left with mine prodigal hand
Mine heart through my fingers play
To soft white sensual sand
In a desert of sheer famine
Bereft of love and love's sea
I scavenge the ground and examine
The desert of what's left of me
Nothing but white sand and shore
Where the moon tide's waves
move rippled sand of desert galore
to taunt and with will depraves
The love I need, but shows the love I had
Lost in the desert delusional I'm utterly mad…

Glad I Found Your Love

I sit here and talk to the ocean with a cool northern breeze
my thoughts are for the one i love, the one i'll never leave

The golden sand beneath me the waves around my feet
I think of the problem before us, a problem i know we can beat

The tide begins to rise elevating with my love
please dont fly away from me my snow white turtle dove

The tide has now departed my soul is swept away
please remember darling i love you more and more each day

I say goodbye to the ocean as the nightime creeps around
just like your hand around my heart your love i'm glad i've found

Drunk With The Bliss Of Your Kisses

Drunk with the bliss of your kisses
on a romantic summer evening,
rolling waves touch at our feet
while there is some tranquillity

as we walk along the long white beach,
I can taste the smell of salt on the air
while the sea continually breaks
in white spray over jutting rocks

one of your soft hands is in mine
with electricity in the touching
that is still lingering between us
before you step right into my arms

there is brightness to the moonlight,
far away the city sparkles like a crown
while your body, your humanity
slowly becomes part of mine.

You Came To Me

You are my starlight
an Angel in the night
wings wide open in the sky
shining so bright
you came to me
your love to set me free

Now here I stand
my heart in your hand
reaching out for you
my dream come true
you came to me
you are now all I see

Your lips on mine
as I hold you tight
til the end of time
like days of summer passing by
you came to me
with you is where I want to be

Beautiful as the setting sun
you are now the only one
I ever only think of
when the day is gone
you came to me

The Mother

Here I lean over you, small son, sleeping
Warm in my arms,
And I con to my heart all your dew-fresh charms,
As you lie close, close in my hungry hold . . .
Your hair like a miser's dream of gold,
And the white rose of your face far fairer,
Finer, and rarer
Than all the flowers in the young year's keeping;
Over lips half parted your low breath creeping
Is sweeter than violets in April grasses;
Though your eyes are fast shut I can see their blue,
Splendid and soft as starshine in heaven,
With all the joyance and wisdom given
From the many souls who have stanchly striven
Through the dead years to be strong and true.

Those fine little feet in my worn hands holden . . .
Where will they tread ?
Valleys of shadow or heights dawn-red?
And those silken fingers, O, wee, white son,
What valorous deeds shall by them be done
In the future that yet so distant is seeming
To my fond dreaming?
What words all so musical and golden
With starry truth and poesy olden

Shall those lips speak in the years on-coming?
O, child of mine, with waxen brow,
Surely your words of that dim to-morrow
Rapture and power and grace must borrow
From the poignant love and holy sorrow
Of the heart that shrines and cradles you now!

Some bitter day you will love another,
To her will bear
Love-gifts and woo her . . . then must I share
You and your tenderness! Now you are mine
From your feet to your hair so golden and fine,
And your crumpled finger-tips . . . mine completely,
Wholly and sweetly;
Mine with kisses deep to smother,
No one so near to you now as your mother!
Others may hear your words of beauty,
But your precious silence is mine alone;
Here in my arms I have enrolled you,
Away from the grasping world I fold you,
Flesh of my flesh and bone of my bone!
