Forever in and out the waves roll on,
poplars quiver
as the breeze time and again rushes through them,
the small river
is slowly flowing twisting to the sea
birds deliver
worms, seed and fruit chirping to new hatchlings,
cheerful they sing and fly and slap their wings.

It feels as if all the time in the world
we still have got
when you give me a small token as a
forget-me-not;
time suddenly gets wings and I love you
more than a lot;
the sun rises and again it does descend
while all of life feels as it has no end.

Holy Mountain

From this small mountain
folded valleys glide
to shining waters.

Flowing like quicksilver,
dark rivers run free
to the sun-drenched sea.

This is my holy mountain.

I seek your gentle voice
where the small birds rest
on thin branches.

See how their breath
arouses the storm?

Fluttering wings
can make shudder the world,
to passion stir vast

Swallows (Brisbane Sonnet)

There is a happy bird, a little one
when all the other birds do move abroad
that is flying chirping everywhere
until the time comes that the sun is gone
small swallows fill the air over the road
twisting, hurtling up and down through the air

flying to and fro, flying very fast,
like fighters they dive over the bridge,
over the water as if visiting fish
skimming along as long as the day lasts,
catching small insects, every midge
they make me feel young and somewhat impish,

flying on long pointed wings and turning,
dropping from where the hot sun is burning.

It's a river

When the time keeps passing and the world goes round
and the sea is crashing at the cliffs and the sounds
erupting as the seabirds cry, you can watch the river
as the time goes by

And it's like it's holy and it can be hell
and you feel so lonely and you fear the smell
of the guns that fire then you see the light
of a rainbow dawning and you realise
that the river's flowing as the time goes by

And you met the people and you knew them well
and you said you loved them and you rang the bell
in the tree of life you watched them grow
and the world is turning as the river flows

The earth smells good and the sky turns gold
when the birds are singing and you bless the old
you can kiss your woman and it feels so right
as you touch the river as the time goes by

As you stand barefoot upon the morning shore
and you feel the centuries of death and war
and the wind is biting and it tears your skin
and the river's flowing where its always been

And the river washes and the river's clean
and the soul remembers where the river's been
as you watch it tumble and you watch it flow
your life's a river now you know, now you know

The Fickle Breeze

Sighing softly to the river
Comes the loving breeze,
Setting nature all a-quiver,
Rustling through the trees!
And the brook in rippling measure
Laughs for very love,
While the poplars, in their pleasure,
Wave their arms above!
River, river, little river,
May thy loving prosper ever.
Heaven speed thee, poplar tree,
May thy wooing happy be!

Yet, the breeze is but a rover,
When he wings away,
Brook and poplar mourn a lover!

Chirping Monsters

He was chirping like an escaped bird,
Wings were aloft in the stations
Suppressing time and its quality
From the start to the finish,
He was chirping like a poetic disorder
As the birds sing and the monsters linger.

Senseless, the redundant beasts have furnished
The earth with its crust,
And the bird's flight shall shine, shovelling the air
With both beaks after both wings.

The flight fades away in fighting fairness,
Eating entrances for the terrors
Inside tense beasts and limbs.

The monsters shake after attacks,
Inside the life we have run accordingly.

From Severe Sorrow He Almost Went Mad

(after Robert Ranke Graves)

From severe sorrow he almost went mad
when he suddenly saw some strange things
in nature and the universe
and maybe it came from to much sorrow;

he noticed small things like falling leaves,
the smallest white flower slowly opening,
the first tiny whistle of a small bird,
thunder hitting far in the distance

even rocks glistening with black metal,
he even saw wings of birds fluttering,
the movement of every small snake,
but between life and death he could not reach

and he could not look at his buried wife
or living go to that other kingdom.
