Faded into bliss

Last night you were with me
and the big old dog
could not lie still
and she turned
every now and then.

Her nails rubbed
against the wood floor,
but while you were lying against me
my senses was filled by you
and my flu
was somewhere in the background.

For a long time I laid against you
and saw you sleep
and everything about me,
faded into bliss.

Turning Off The Lights

you say, you love light, its brightness
that reveals what had long been denied to you
by darkness,
you take it, and raise it and put it at the higher place
for that should be how it must be
everything is now obvious and you begin to see
the truth, and you say, at first, that this is beautiful,
and good, and you preach about light, its brightness,
you want all those that love you to have them too

time changes, seasons come and go, tastes not just sweetness
but bitterness, this is also truth, but this is not good,
this is ugly, and all the scenes pass before your eyes,
your parents, and brothers, they are carried by this rage
of the river of time, there was thunder and lightning at the background,
there is too much lighting, and you begin to dislike
what light has given you, brightness has become too harsh
for such a short life,
there is panic and fear now, you want to run but all the doors are closed,
and the windows refuse to open,
the clouds make the rain, and rain does not stop,
the sun still shines, no promises are broken, all for your love of light,
its brightness, now getting too sharp and too jagged, they hurt

you sit alone, you let the rain flood over you, you dislike water
there is too much of it, just like light, flooding over your senses,
they are no longer good, they are so ugly,
but what can you do? you wished for it and now it is given for free.

forgetting has taken your beloved away. Such a cruel goddess.
Now you are alone. You remember the night of sound sleep.
You remember when you said, once when we were small,
You want all the lights turned off, light hurts, and you cannot sleep.

and so, i turned off all the lights now. I shall not tell you anything.
You need sleep and dreams shall be there to comfort you.

Tell Me Why

That tuesday night, turned 26 and I caught your smile
laid down my life, one kiss would take me through the night
I close my eyes, I feel your touch, I see you smile
it's on my mind, it's just a dream I know, but why?
why I just can't stop wondering you're on my mind
noone tells me why, tell me why
tell me why you filled that emptiness in me
tell me why, tell me why,
tell me why you filled that emptiness in me
just to tell you goodbye
a day down the line, reality's back on my mind
yesterday's behind, the charm of love has died but why
unsatisfied with what we get used to in this life
I laid it aside, looks so pale with open eyes
so I just keep on wondering about what's on my mind
noone tells me why, tell me why
why again you filled that emptiness in me
tell me why, tell me why,
why again you filled that emptiness in me
so I tell you goodbye
tell me why, tell me why,
tell me why you filled that emptiness in me
tell me why, tell me why,
tell me why you filled that emptiness in me
tell me why, tell me why,
why again you filled that emptiness in me
so I tell you goodbye

The Song Of Wandering Aengus

I WENT out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread;
And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout.
When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire aflame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And some one called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.
Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands.
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.

Rock Myself To Sleep

Yeah!
Chorus:
Every night I rock myself to sleep, every night I rock myself to sleep
Every night I rock myself to sleep, thinkin about you, thinkin about you
Every night I rock myself to sleep, every night I rock myself to sleep
Every night I rock myself to sleep, thinkin about you, thinkin about you
And I wanna say, its not the same since you went away
And its not right, youre not here with me tonight
And its a crime, just lying here, wasting my precious time
Im so lonely and Im so blue, thinkin bout the things I could do to you
Every night I rock myself to sleep, every night I rock myself to sleep
Every night I rock myself to sleep, thinkin about you, thinkin about you
And I wanna know, dont you see how you hurt me so
Going out of my head, yeah Im here in this empty bed
And its a crime, whoa, just lying here, wasting my precious time
Im so lonely, baby, Im so blue
Thinkin bout all the things I could do to you
Every night I rock myself to sleep, every night I rock myself to sleep
Every night I rock myself to sleep, thinkin about you, thinkin about you
(guitar solo) (rock, myself to sleep)
(chorus repeats out)

Childhood Faded Away

Childhood Faded away,
to a far away land,
simple, so simple were we,
Days of Play,
Going our Way,
Having fun, no care,
for another day,
time for us stood still,
playing king of the hill
Childhood Faded away
thinking of another day,
summer time was fine,
when friends were kind,
swiming holes were filled,
our hearts were thrilled
Childhood Faded Away
to a time that makes me sway
many years have passed away,
since childhood faded to another day,
Childhood Faded to places,
UNKNOWN TO US
floating somewhere in time.

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

A man looked down at his dog on the floor
and he wondered why
the dog was content to sleep on the floor
or wherever he would lie?
So the man got down on the floor to sleep
and found he was wide awake.
His back was sore and the rest of him
turned into one big ache.
The dog awoke and looked at the man,
then slept in the man's chair.
The man looked up at the dog and knew
that dog could sleep anywhere.

Red Ambulance

so that ambulance just went by
and if you were high
the flashing lights would be a show
red as the blood she spilled
red enough to let her go
she filled in the outlines with her nails
just as red as she
then there was a red circus, for sale
as she red as she would be
and the fire was just so
that the red blazes burned her eyes
i think it was the red that let her go
like the red from her eyes after a person cries
so red, so real, from wrist to lights
so red, everytime, even in the night
shes like the savior
or the sacrafice
her nails, or the nails of the cross?
was it it the cross on the red ambulance
with the red lights?
or was it the cross of the savior, the sacrifice
was it all red every night?
is this a remake or the living
from the wrists
on the nails
where the lights
on the ambulance
with the cross
of the savior
with the nails
on the wrists
in the ambulance
with the cross
of the savior
red from the nails
on the wrists
that lay in the ambulance
the flashing red lights
near the cross
of the savior?
the sacrifice?
in the wrists
red with nails
on the cross
of savior or the saved?
ambulance
or cross
the wrists
the nails
the lights
the ambulance
the cross
the savior
with all the red

Lily's Silent Tears

Each night Lily lay down her weary head
She pulled her pillow closer
Turned her face buried it deep as it soaked up all the silent tears
She cried, she begged,
She wished she hoped but most of all she closed her eyes and prayed
From the corners of her closed eyes a tear escaped….two… three….till she set them all free
Lily cried herself to sleep night after night
Crying over life and love lost
Time slipped by

High above in the heavens one night
There way up above you and I
Upon the brightest star
Sat he
Writing away his heart
He felt a tremor run through his heart
He heard a distant cry
He closed his eyes and there deep within the beauty of his loving heart He saw that tear
One silent solitary sad burning tear that bore so much pain
He closed his eyes and wished and willed
To see the owner of the tear
The silent tear that caused the tremor in his heart

He found Lily lying on her pillow crying herself to sleep
He reached out and touched her
Soothed her healed her loved her
Her days filled with warmth
Her nights filled with moonlight and love

Then one cold night he left a tremor in her heart
With unspoken word
He told her
He loved her
They were friends
But
He could never love her in the same way that she loved him
For his heart was already taken

Night after night once again Lily lays her head upon her faithful pillow
Night after night once gain she cries herself to sleep
Night after night once again she feels the tremor inside her heart
But
Night after night he feels the tremor of another

Since I've Come To My Senses

Giving up on my life,
To not sleep peacefully at night.
With a pacing of the floor...
Back and forth and uptight.
Not anymore.
Since I've come to my senses,
Open are those doors I've closed before.

Giving up on my dreams,
To witness them flow downstream...
Panicked.
Not anymore.
Since I've come to my senses,
Down came those fences...
And defenses raised.

Doing things for others to see them pleased,
With approval unshown...
They appreciated me.
Not anymore.
Since I've come to my senses.

I will not be accused,
For something done I did do.
To then feel used and psychologically abused...
With an inflicting of my own torment?
No!
Not anymore...
Since I've come to my senses.

Giving up on my life to feel accepted,
As a focused objective to have others reject...
No.
Not anymore.
I've closed those doors.
There are so many others I had to learn to open,
With a coming to my senses.
Before I prevented so much I now can see.

Last Night

Last night
You know you really really
Made me appreciate my life
When you took me to the seventh floor
And closed the door
I didnt stand a chance
Oh oh that night
When my conscience was losing
In that age old fight
Now Ive always been a non-believer
A true deceiver
A hit and run romance
Dont you know that when we turned out the light
We were riding on the crest of a tidal wave
Like we were ships in the night
Going nowhere
Last night
When the feeling was missing
But the mood was right
From the moment we took the floor
I knew for sure
Wed play the parts were expected to
Ive done it so many times
Man were all inmates of the human zoo
Our bodies in control of our minds
I played the jester and you played the fool
You kept forgetting your lines
I had to prompt you with a bourbon or two
Huh, you planned to come all the time
But when we turned out the light
We were riding on the crest of a tidal wave
Like we were ships in the night
Going nowhere (nowhere)
Oh last night
You know you really really
Gave me something to write about
In the morning it was just the same
Id lost again
But it wont take me long to forget
Oh oh last night

Distorted Beauty

She was a small girl, the proof being the tiny soccer cleats
lying on the floor, and the low down marks on the wall
marking her height; and the pictures on her wall show
she is the only brunette in a family of blondes; the belts
lying on her floor had extra holes poked in them
to accommodate for her unnatural skinniness;
her clothes consisted of dark colors meant to keep
her constantly hidden in the background.

Her room was always messy, she was never
organized enough to keep it clean; and pictures
had been painted onto the walls as proof of
her artistic talent; she did not have any clothes
with horizontal stripes, she was too afraid
they might make her look fat; Her school
books are scattered on her desk, all with many
dog-eared and well-worn pages.

In the morning she sleeps in just long enough
to rush out the door without breakfast; at lunch
she claims she isn’t feeling well enough to eat;
when time for dinner comes she hides herself in
her room; everyday she wastes away a little more,
and yet she is still not happy with her weight;
however, she refuses to admit her problem and
that she needs help.

Lyin' To Yourself

You tell me lies that you believe
You say its the real thing
I can see how you've deceived
I know what's happening
And seeing is believing 'til you find out that you're blind
You're Lying To Yourself (Lying To Yourself)
You're Lying To Yourself (Lying To Yourself)
Wake up, shake up, turn around
I'll give it to you straight
It's been too long, it's past a joke
Something I can't take
The cost is due, now tell me money ain't the means [to me it sounds like
"meaning"]
You're Lying To Yourself
(Lying To Yourself)
You're Lying To Yourself
(Lying To Yourself)
Lying To Yourself again, you're Lying to Yourself again
Lying To Yourself again, you're Lying To Yourself again
Lying in the morning
I'll kiss you goodbye
You won't regret a part of this
And neither will I
Revealing hearts with a common need play their hands
You're Lying To Yourself
(Lying To Yourself)
You're Lying To Yourself
(Lying To Yourself)

Sleep Comes Down

it's raining in my head
but no tears come down
and i'm dreaming of you
until sleep comes around
sleep comes down sleep comes down
sleep comes down sleep comes down
the orchestra's playing
it's so very loud
and i'm biting my nails
until sleep comes around
sleep comes down sleep comes down
sleep comes down sleep comes down
the clouds are all running
but no tears come down
and i'm thinking of you
until sleep comes around
sleep comes down sleep comes down
sleep comes down sleep comes down

Variations on a Theme by Joyce

The war is in words and the wood is the world
That turns beneath our rootless feet;
the vines that reach, alive and snarled,
Across the path where the sand is swirled,
Twist in the night. The light lies flat.
The war is in words and the wood is the world.

The rain is ruin and our ruin rides
The swiftest winds; the wood is whorled
And turned and smoothed by the turning tides.
--There is rain in the woods, slow rain that breeds
The war in the words. The wood is the world.
This rain is ruin and our ruin rides.

The war is in words and the wood is the world,
Sourceless and seized and forever filled
With green vine twisting on wood more gnarled
Than dead men's hands. The vines are curled
Around these branches, crushed and killed.
The war is in words and the wood is the world.

While You Were Sleeping

Last Night while you were sleeping,
Did you know that I was wide awake,
On my side, at your side
Waiting for morning to break.
I watched as you slept,
As the dreams enter in your soul
Then through my eyes, I realized
That truly, I love you so.
Last night, while you were sleeping.

Last Night while you were asleep
Did you know too, that I was there
On your bed, also laid my head
Along with my soul and prayer.
Lying quietly at your side
As I have done the nights before
To be with you, my love so true
Could any man ask for any more.
Last Night while you were asleep.

Last night while you slept,
As waiting for morning to come,
While at your side, I laid that night
While dreading the coming of the sun.
As always with you I was there
Even when morning began to arise
But then again it came, as so did the pain
As I said goodbye to another night.
Last night while you slept.

Last night while you did sleep
You never knew that you weren't alone,
As when you awoke not one word did I spoke
As on the couch I slept from which I never roamed.
Upon my side there I solemnly laid
Being so still, and quite as a mouse
Not to make a sound that might give my secret away,
I wandered; did you too feel lonely in this house.
Last night while you had slept.

In An Old Diary

Faded pink petals
tween old yellowed pages
In a time worn ol’ diary
Filled with eras and ages

Leaves, red and golden
Pressed between old yellowed pages
Of old diaries beholden
to lives unfolded stages

Still linger on pages
Faint aromas and memories
Of phases and stages
All now, long lost histories

Tarnished brass clasps
Still holds e’er so tight
As did young hands once grasp
To their breast in the night

Fervent feelings writ in faded black ink
Young hopeful yearnings from the past
Love and longing, an enduring link
Diaries, as do lives, grow old e’er so fast

on withered old hands one laid on the other
Lines of blue veins trace out as a map
In repose on a tattered old cover
Of an old diary, in an old lady’s lap

Look Back In Anger

You know who I am, he said
The speaker was an angel
He coughed and shook his crumpled wings
Closed his eyes and moved his lips
Its time we should be going
(waiting so long, Ive been waiting so, waiting so)
Look back in anger, driven by the night
Till you come
(waiting so long, Ive been waiting so, waiting so)
Look back in anger, see it in my eyes
Till you come
No one seemed to hear him
So he leafed through a magazine
And, yawning, rubbed the sleep away
Very sane he seemed to me
(waiting so long, Ive been waiting so, waiting so)
Look back in anger, driven by the night
Till you come
(waiting so long, Ive been waiting so, waiting so)
Look back in anger, feel it in my voice
Till you come
(waiting so long, ahhh...)
(waiting so long, Ive been waiting so, waiting so) (waiting so long, Ive been waiting so, waiting so)
(waiting so long, ahhh...)

Time Receding

The least of my thoughts are seldom of you-
only occasionally now
do the images flash-
those vague shreds of the past
which often sideswipe my mind
while I am doing something else.

The least of my heartbeats
are barely audible now,
I am smoothing out that rough road
which once was
our love.

But, I know your least
filled my every need
and only twice do I think of you now
but these two
are day and night.

My heart can't afford now other surcease
in this;
My mind cannot suffice it;
My heart continues to beat
least it stop forever
suspended in bliss,
the bliss that was
the least of which
was more than

I have ever known.

I take these soft laments
with me into the You Time
which I allow my self

only twice each day-
all day
and all night-
because my consolation
there,

even in residual,
is almost enough
so sweet it is
being with you
even in this inward way
testifies to the strength
that was
our love.

If there were more than day
and night
you'd find me there,
you on my mind.

I'll not say farewell to this
I don't have the strength.

I draw my breath,
breathe you in
and Time recedes
reuniting us.

Who could resist this?

Time Here Receding
offers Bliss,
And I am its willing prisoner.
