Mother
They left you where you had fallen
against your pane
like a sparrow deceived in flight
with your delicate frail wings
folded limply to your side
your eyes closed to the world
I felt anger rise
at the feckless efforts
to protect you
from the inmates
the simple monsters
shuffling the halls in drugged trances
into each others rooms
to pilfer cigarettes or money, or
a grope of your gaunt flesh
I stood at the foot of your bed
staring down at you for the last time
crying through my shame
through my lucid realization
of abandonment
I vindicate myself now
with these failing words
imagining your soft quivering voice
at the foot of my bed
forgiving me for living
with less pain.

Left Foot, Right Foot
left foot, right foot,
left foot, right foot,
eyes fixed straight ahead....
drawn by the spectre
of our own greed;
use it up, throw it out,
use it up, throw it out....
hardened and lifeless,
eaten from within
by the maggots of ego...
deaf to the cries
of our own children,
blinded by the 'God'
of cyber technology...
strip the fields,
cut down the forests...
mine the mountains,
we pee in our own
drinking water, and
walk away....
leaving nuclear tracks
in the womb of time.
left foot, right foot,
left foot, right foot...
marching blindly to hell
with drool on our chins!

Straw Foot
I guess you didnt hear me
When I told you for the first time
Well dont you worry
It wont be the last
All I need a floorboard
An a wooden shoe
Step aside an let my lady through
Hey foot, straw foot
Low we lay em down
Hey foot, straw foot
Up an back around
See the high priest
He took my place
When the judge looks to me
He saw his sons face
Not gonna join you in
Your tower of babble, boy
Tired o that talkin
Im sick o that noise
Hey foot, straw foot
Low we lay em down
Hey foot, straw foot
Coverin ground
Im not alone
An looks can be deceivin
When we get down to it
Youre talkin when you
Should be leavin
Ive been to nebraska
It reminded me of spain
All the questions loaded
All my answers same
Hey foot, straw foot
Low we lay em down
Hay foot, straw foot
Coverin ground
Let us not mince our words
Lets say it true this time
I need your forgiveness
Just like you need mine
Tell me how it is that
You dont want what hes given
It aint no sin son
To be forgiven
Hey foot, straw foot
Low we lay em down
Hey foot, straw foot
All over town

The Ghost's Story
All my life long I heard the step
Of some one I would know,
Break softly in upon my days
And lightly come and go.
A foot so brisk I said must bear
A heart that's clean and clear;
If that companion blithe would come,
I should be happy here.
But though I waited long and well,
He never came at all,
I grew aweary of the void,
Even of the light foot-fall.
From loneliness to loneliness
I felt my spirit grope--
At last I knew the uttermost,
The loneliness of hope.
And just upon the border land,
Where flesh and spirit part,
I knew the secret foot-fall was
The beating of my heart.

A foot soldier
When I was hurt & lost someone dear
I did go on because I am a foot soldier
When the going got tough with nothing to gear
I did go on because I am a foot soldier
when the faith felt small & doubts really bigger
I did go on because I am a foot soldier
When the sky was dark & nothing seemed near
I did go on because I am a foot soldier
when the wounds were hurting with no immediate cure
I did go on because I am a foot soldier
when the hopes were grim & nothing was clear
I did go on because I am a foot soldier
When storms came hard striking some fear
I did go on because I am a foot soldier
I fought & fought & I fought till the victory was sure
Yes, I could do it because I am a foot soldier

Five Foot One
Yeah, I like it
Ugh! Ugh! Ugh!
I'm only five foot one
I got a pain in my neck
I'm looking up in the city
What the hell what the heck
I stare at the concrete
The girders eye high
The steel's above me
There's love in my eyes
And I'm doing the things
A five foot one man can do
I'm only five foot one
I got a pain in my heart
All the night I'm working
In the amusement park
With a bottle of aspirin
A sack full of jokes
I wish I could go home
With all the big folks
And I wish life could be
Swedish magazines
I wish life could be
Swedish magazines
I wish life could be
Anything
Ugh! Aie! Aie! Aie!
Ugh!
I'm only five foot one
Unless the time has come
I won't grow anymore
Anymore, anymore, anymore
'Till I'm losing my head
I'm checkin' it twice
I'm gonna find out who's naughty and nice
And I'm doing the things a five foot one man can do
I wish life could be Swedish magazines(x3)
I wish life could be
Yeah, I wish life could be
Oooooooooohhh
I wish life could be
I wish life could be Swedish magazines
I wish life could be Swedish magazines
I wish life could be
I won't grow anymore(x3)
Anymore, anymore, anymore, anymore, anymore
I'm only five foot one(x3)
I'm five foot one

Little Sparrow
Little sparrow
Dolly parton = little sparrow
(chorus)
Little sparrow, little sparrow,
Precious fragile little thing
Little sparrow, little sparrow
Flies so high and feels no pain.
All ye maidens heed my warning
Never trust the hearts of men
They will crush you like a sparrow
Leaving you to never mend.
They will vow to always love you
Swear no love but yours will do
Then theyll leave you for another
Break your little heart in two
Repeat chorus
If I were a little sparrow, over these mountains I would fly
I would find him, I would find him, look into his lying eyes
I would flutter all around him, on my little sparrow wings
I would ask him, I would ask him, why he left me loving him
Repeat chorus
I am not a little sparrow, I am just the broken dream
Of a cold false-hearted lover and his evil cunning scheme
Repeat chorus
All ye maidens fair and tender
Never trust the hearts of men
They will crush you, like a sparrow
Leaving you to never mend.
Little sparrow, little sparrow,
Oh my sorrow never ends.

The Mother Sparrow Grieves Upon The Untimely Death Of Her Beloved Fledgling
today, there is no grand funeral
like that of the death of
a statesman
or that simple funeral fit for
a laborer in the world of
mankind,
the mother sparrow grieves over
the death of her fledgling
there is no burial
they do not know what are white flowers
their meaning
the torn wings are carried by the worker-ants
some useless feathers are left above a sand mound
soon there are skeletons of frail bones
baked throughout the year by the sun
soon only dusts
the mother sparrow as we knew it from science
does not keep a memory
they keep on their far journey
nest from nest to nest on those seasons

I first saw President Reagan as a foot, highly polished brown cordovan wagging merrily on a hassock. I spied it through the door. It was a beautiful foot, sleek. Such casual elegance and clean lines! But not a big foot, not formidable, maybe a little... frail. I imagined cradling it in my arms, protecting it from unsmooth roads.

The Straight Jacket
i am trying to shape
a world
with my own private thoughts
away from the mob
i am situating myself in a room
on closed doors and closed windows
except the light that i allow to enter
on glassy blocks
the walls will always be there
air comes through the ceiling
on tiny holes
i tried to forget viewing the stars
i must survive even without the light of the moon
it is less romantic
and i am no lunatic
but then she hints on what am i
saying: the fish is meant for the sea
the dog is always meant for a walk
the sparrow cannot live without flying on its wings
and she asks me: will you just be a poet?
or will you be the man for the seasons?
before she left, she left a note stuck on the fridge
magnetically: you are more than the fish, the sparrow, the dog
must i be? i sleep tightly like a straitjacket.

Surprisingly Alive
Happiness is gone, it disappeared
It played me for years making me feel I deserved it
It was positive, and left me an optimist
I saw life through different eyes with happiness
It made me see what cannot be seen
It made me feel feelings I had not bothered to explore
I felt free beneath it's control
I felt invincible in it's arms
Happiness was my everything, it was my soul
It was what kept me moving forward
It was what made me want to live, to breath, to be
Then one day it left, it walked out on me
It left nothing behind but memories I could not have again
It walked out and never looked back
It walked out on me when I needed it the most
It pretended like nothing ever happened between us
Happiness kicked me towards sadness, it shoved me towards it
Then it left after it saw what happened
It got weak and left me alone
It left me crying behind the door
It left me bleeding on the bathroom floor
It left me wishing I had never lived
It left me screaming into my pillow in pain with sadness
It left me walking aimlessly at night with tears crawling down my face
It left me with the words 'I give up' floating above my head
It left me imagining what death would taste like
It left me cold, scared, hopeless, alone
It left...

But truly closed…
As to life in the…

Seeing only that which…

Shame on you…
You heard what your…

Your father and other…
Elders…
Yet…you see not…
An unwholesome atmosphere…
For which you run wild…
Looking …
Right at what is going wrong…
In your life…
Not even thinking twice…
It’s boy this…
Or boy that…
Not concerned with getting phat…
Mom is talking…
You are walking…
One foot out of the door…
Your other foot never reaching…
The floor…
Ear plugged to the phone…
It’s on…
Breathing back to back…
Talking on the fast track…
Boy this…
And boy that…
No worry of becoming phat…
Imagine that…
Some would like to lay claim., .
To the getting phat fame…
Mostly hood dames…
You know…
Those who come and go…
Like Satan in the bible…
Going to and fro…
Eyes wide open…
Hoping you have a demarcation line…
Which would surely be fine…
For you at this time…

One Man's Foot Stool Is Another Man's Ladder
Have you ever stopped to take stock,
By inventoring those who remain as adversaries?
Those who took their time to find 'something' wrong you did?
And over the years and in retrospect,
There is a comfort you've obtain they still can not respect.
And yet,
Their neglected lives are in shambles!
And something inside you stops short...
Of doubling over in uncontrollable laughter?
And you know even expressing a broad smile,
Or a giggle is inappropriate.
Suppose the shoe was on the other foot?
Even though it isn't...
Just imagine that it was!
And then...
All of a sudden,
You hear the voice of your mother saying,
'God does not like ugly.
And...
One man's foot stool is another man's ladder! '
Huh?
What?
Ma...?
Nevermind!
And the tears begin to fill your eyes,
Trying to hold inside of yourself...
The pain held from not letting go,
Of a roaring laugh that is felt!
But you know...
Mama knows best!

Sad Foot Sign
Sad foot sign
Why you gotta
Taunt me this way?
The happy side
Is broken now
It's gonna be
An awful day
And if I have
To drive back by
To see from
A different side
Would be enough
To say
The first time was
A lie?
Sad foot sign
The end is coming
That's what they say
Maybe you could
See it in
Your heart for one day
To let me feel
What it's about
To really be the life
To live and breathe
And see and feel
Then I can die
And when I come back
To this room
I'll put on
A uniform
And go into
The foot sign shop
Where you were born

Memories and Marks
Foot prints in the sand
Tell their story
Side by side they stood
Right at sunset
As the sun was shining it's last rays
As the silver moon overtook
They kissed
Everything was perfect
Love was everywhere
Happy as could be
They walked
Leaving behind foot prints
A tangible mark
Eventually washed away
By waves of blue
But the memory remains

How Lovely Can Ignorance Be...
how can you ever see
what i am seeing?
the words are veils
the face remains hidden
do you remember my voice?
it is trembling
cascades of meaning
yet you can hold nothing
what i have seen
rushes my blood in the middle of my being
it is a tryst of myself to myself
that i try to capture in syllables
understanding makes you leave me
so i chose the reverse
i am not there
i am not what you think i am
i live on the other side of the river
and you do not know the vein going there
for years i will be silent
to understand myself more
i leave no trace
when the time comes you may see a footstep
a picture of a foot step
and you shall know what suffering did my foot have
it is over soon
i think, it is better that you shall not know
as you shall love me still
how lovely can ignorance be!

The Awful God
Richard Bryce was a mystery,
He lived on a back street lot,
The house was the old half-timbered sort,
Paint peeled on the old wainscot,
The blinds were drawn through the day and night
And the garden a neighbourhood moan,
Full of the bodies of rusting cars
And creepers, all overgrown.
We rarely saw him out in the street
But he'd peep from the side of blinds,
And stories were told in the neighbourhood
That were often more harsh than kind,
There'd been a wife and a daughter once
But they hadn't been seen in years,
Since the echoing raft of arguments,
Doors slammed, and a flood of tears.
Old Grandpa Bryce had lived in the house
Since thirty odd years before,
He'd worked in the woollen fulling mill
‘Til it closed, just after the War,
His son had drowned in the old mill stream,
Was caught in the paddle wheel,
And Grandpa Bryce was left with the child,
To raise, and be brought to heel.
For Grandpa Bryce was a steely man
Who lived his life by the book,
More like a Prophet, this Abraham
Believed, whatever it took,
That ‘spare the rod and spoil the child'
Would be how that his Grandson learned,
As he laid the rod across Richard's back
‘Til the flesh turned red, and burned.
There was never a ministering angel there
To offer the boy relief,
Only the hard-edged wooden pew
In the church, on a Sunday eve,
And Abraham led the final prayer
In a voice that would damn and blight,
‘Beware you sinners, the Awful God
Will come unseen in the night! '
Richard's mother had died in pain
In the blood of the afterbirth,
She never returned to her home again
But was placed, six foot in the earth,
He never knew of a mother's love,
But only a Grandpa's pain,
And Bryce had ruled the daughter and wife
‘Til they fled one night, in the rain.
The house was suddenly silent then
Just two of them, left alone,
Grandpa suddenly old and frail,
He never went out on his own,
And Richard boarded the windows up
So you couldn't see in from the street,
It looked like an old abandoned place
‘Til the police called round, last week.
We all stood out in the street and watched
As Richard came out of the house,
His hands were cuffed and his hair stood up
And he looked quite down in the mouth,
There must have been twenty cops in there,
All milling around the place,
And one threw up in a paper cup
As we strained to look at his face.
It all came out in a day or two
Just what they had found in there,
The place was sparse, but a giant cross
Stood gaunt in the putrid air,
The skeleton of old Grandpa Bryce
Had been crucified, up tight,
And nailed to his skull: ‘The Awful God
Will come unseen in the night! '

Workmen's March
Left foot! Right foot! Lines unbroken!
Keeping time is power's token.
That makes
one
of many, many,
That makes bold, if fear daunts any,
That makes small the load and lighter,
That makes near the goal and brighter,
Till it greets us gained with laughter,
And we seek the next one after.
Left foot! Right foot! Lines unbroken!
Keeping time is power's token.
Marching, marching of few hundreds,
No one heeds it, never one dreads;
Marching, marching of few thousands,
Here and there wakes some to hearing;
Marching, marching hundred thousands,-
All will mark that thunder nearing.
Left foot! Right foot! Lines unbroken!
Keeping time is power's token.
Let us march all, never weaken
Time from Vardö down to Viken,
Vinger up to Bergen's region,-
Let us make
one
marching legion,
Then we'll rout some wrong from Norway,
Open wide to right the doorway.

I Made My Life
I made my life
this lonely place
a place of black and gray
pulled the blinds on my life
put off things bright or gay
I made my life
this slippery mess
a place of no firm foot hold
stumbling, staggering, shuffling
wobbling and failing for a goal
I made my life
this pitful moan
a place of heart screaming pain
crying lips, void in spirit
cringing in a bath of shame
I made my life
this gapping open land fill
a place for no thing that's good
Rubbish my bossom buddy
trash and cast off
my neighborhood
I made my life
this garbage dump
a place of riggorous blight
head over heels I plunge
destroying good on left and right
I made my life
this open grave
a place to wait to die
walking meldew, standing I rot
while watching life go by
I made my life
this miserable wreckage
A structure torn and broken to the base
twisted, rented, tortured skelton
moot of style, splendor or grace
I made my life
this wonder
A place of investgating the why
seeking, searching and inspecting
Yet! Knowledge, understanding and wisdom
these nough do I aspy
I made my life
this godless pathway
soul and spirit crying out; REPENT! !
now thanking God
Now thanking God
this wretched life's not spent

Behold
Take it through the shade of your shadow-
Let blindness be your guide;
Walk from today to tomorrow
Relying on nothing on your side...
Fear is but a product of sensing,
A living abortion that looks so much older,
A monster out of one's own labor feeding
On freedom, enslaving space and caging in shelter.
Keep watching it build up, growing,
Or grope for the sustaining plug-
Favor euthanasia over suicide, weeding
Out what the self itself has dug.
It's an ever-skewed mirror after all-
Deceit is fullest when the eyes are open;
Doubt with them closed as death sees all
In its lucid dream, everything unhidden, swollen.

Window Pain
As I sit here looking at the rain staring through my window pane I feel just sorrow and no glee sometimes I feel there's nothing left inside of me As I sit here staring through the window pane looking out towards the rain hoping the sun will make me change knowing how much I hate this pain. The sun came out but I did not change in once again came back the rain in so I sit here knowing it doesn't matter if its sun or rain the pain I feel will never change and once again I'm alone to stare at the rain sitting here looking through my window pane.
