SHADOWS OF AUTUMN {A Poet's Dream}
Shadows that haunt me in autumn
Memories of colours lost to winter
The Douglas Fir......forever green
Keeps the forests from the barren
and desolate winter...
Shadows tail the whispered winds
November's fickle breeze....snaps
Fresh images, for the Poet's mind
Reclusive me, i write my stories in
silent attitude...
Shadows that vision harvests death
Tips of golden leaves, turn to brown
Morning dew is masked in first-frost
I watch it all, by a window, in a room
of Donne and Poe...
All i need is my paper...and isolation
To feed by yen, for the abstract buffet
I bother no one..... harbour no secrets
I'm about words 'n tales from the dark
side of fiction...
For a Poet i am not- and will never be
Poet's paint a canvass, of open doors
Into the passions 'n perils of their lives
And they do it oh so well...'tis God-Gift
Still i write.....
And, the shadows of Autumn, haunt me
They scream and bleed poetic promise
Like the gold that Robert Frost inspired
While captured, in the autumn shadows
of a Poets dream...

I Have Seen Autumn
I have never felt the chill of winter
Nor the birth of spring
Only the two faces of Nature
The golden sun shining
Or the heavens openly weeping.
But I have seen autumn
As I looked at her
No cold winter in her smile
A promise of summer in her eyes
Her hair of autumn leaves.
I have never felt autumn
But I have seen it
It’s the canvass of Rembrandt
Dark, red, crimson, gold
But I have never felt it.
Is the autumn breeze damp and soft like her lips?
Is the autumn sky naked and warm like her skin?
But I have never kissed her lips nor touched her skin
I have only seen autumn
But I have never felt it.

Forests of autumn
I see her, by the lamplight; waiting,
I watch her from the shadows, so dark,
Her hair; ruffled by the soft autumn breeze,
Shining; as gold in the forests of autumn,
Eyes sparkling, so dark, so brown,
As the brown, in the forests of autumn.
Her hand traces slowly; a pattern,
through the mist, falling gently, softly,
onto the mirror she holds, reflecting starlight,
Into her eyes.
She is waiting; like a girl for her first love,
Waiting nervously; .... waiting for me,
So pretty, so wonderful, so shy, so..! ,
The lamplight still shines; but she has gone,
Into the shadows of time.
No pattern traced her mirror, no mirror did I see,
No; .... No one.
The wind blows colder, from the forests of autumn,
I walk; alone, in the silence,
Thinking, ..Remembering,
She died two years ago.
Moonlight steals slowly,
across the sands where I sit,
The sea, speaks with murmurs on the rocks,
On the shore; ..deserted,
The wind of autumn whispers, across the sailors graves,
Free of lifes worries, ... free of lifes joys,
I listen to the murmurings; Alone,
In this eerie solitude.
I turn and feel, sea spray upon the wind,
in my hair; ..against my cheek,
My eyes taste the salt; .. though closed;
Of my tears
Quietness descends; .. like an angels cloak,
Can that angel; ..be her of my pain, my tears,
For she has died,
My tears are touched......and dried,
By the wind; from the forests of autumn.

Comes Autumn...
Comes autumn...
with its addendum of moods and colours.
And as nature unfurls its myriad of jewels
there be majique
of ineffable bounty,
widening eyes, and broadening smiles -
reminding us all of the credence that lies
in that ole cliche,
''change is good''!
Comes autumn...
with its eventides of whistlesong breeze.
And in every blanket of its angeled mist rainfall
there be genisis
of inveterating offerage,
quenching the yearning thirst of the harvests,
nourishing the mercurial mind of the Poet
to take pen in hand and heart,
fleck an autumn-scape grandeur...indelible.
Comes autumn...
with her latened warnings of winters nascence.
And every lost, crisped, brown leave
speaks of Death to this season of colour
that beckoned us to appreciate our God-Given senses
of earthtones and hickory and the scent of Douglas Fir
that we breathe with Christmas thought, Winter majique.
And aft' December we shall wait until -
comes autumn.....once again.

Within The Shadows Of My Mind
There are lots of memories locked away
within the shadows of my mind.
Memories of childhood years gone by
and they are located in the dark recesses
awaiting one day to escape from
within the shadows of my mind.
We tend to hide away
the sad things in our lives,
locking them away
never to see again the light of day.
We wish not to resurrect
all their sadness and pain.
Therefore, we store them away
within the shadows of our mind.
In the shadows, hold many tragedies
of which we do not want to relive.
The pain grows constantly
just thinking of them again.
So as I close each chapter
of my life as it unfolds
the memories that bring
the most pain are locked away
within the shadows of my mind.

Stand In The Shadows
Hearts which beat to a precise beat
Fading shadows on the wall
We'll cut our cards
Drive out bars
All for one, one for all.
Like teenage heat
And carnival cheats
With your heart on your sleeve
Well you know you wanna run
You won't hide
And you jump like a son of a gun
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Oh alone and lonely
Watching people on my wall
Well mama and dadda thought they had me fooled
I was thinking not at all
Well i got out
Not gonna stand
In the dark without a light
Forgetting love if you believe that chance
Sit and wait
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
In the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
And now the judge is down feeling
All around yeah
Lifting to a blast this sound
No preachers, teachers
Pick our minds
To the sounds of false alarm
They're here today
And they hear you say
You're alive and you're living with me
So don't try to hide
And don't try to die
In the dark of the night
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows
In the shadows, in the shadows
Do not stand in the shadows

Shadows
We should love the shadows
How deep they are, how mysterious
But instead we dread the shadows
Fearing that one day, our lives will be captured
By the shadows with their dark embrace
We should love the shadows
How they lure us into the night
But instead we fear the shadows
Fearing that they will be our end
A Thread scrawled in Timely Autumn
I watch thousands of leaves drift underneath trees,
while in a tree I sat observing
timely autumn air fetching birds –
to gather above the vegetation high up in the blue
birds rise and utter messages
as timely autumn descends on our…?
On our befallen part globe.
To hear the beauty of innocence across
the damp fall ground;
vibrating, that autumn is
going to flee away and…?
And in comes the disturbing winter breeze –
bring out a smile gloating out
on the stricken faces.
Nations fall dead from autumn exhaustion.
Oh timely autumn has come to soon –
to bear a reason of befallen:
sleeping illnesses
on our old earth.
Red, brown, orange, yell a glow
Buried in leaves is our part globe.
And stricken faces
of shadows
flee away into the nest of warmth
as worrying winter breeze crawls
in, regretfully not,
but gleefully.
Swirling around, sneaking in?
In ajar windows.
Oh season is it time
for timely autumn colour to leave
our autumn colour world into
winter darkness?
Not welcomingly the
winter nips at my thin nose
as I watch above
high in this forlorn tree
with no leaves! But what?
Empty branches of crystal snow.

Dark night...
So dark is the night by choice
Silenced of humorous voice,
So lonely is the night of charms
Devoid of a lover's warm arms.
Dark shadows rising upward bound
Above me from the silent ground
Destroying my inner secret dreams
Waking to the sounds of inner screams
Dark shadows rising here to stay
Even after they're casted away
They come back with violence
At the depth of dead silence
Dark shadows rising unkind
causing chaos across my mind
I cant stand, my painful cries
As the dark night arrives
Dark shadows rising knocking me flat
Paralysing me purposefully so that
I can't move and nobody cares
The dark night blindly stares
Dark shadows dying away to fly
Over the dark coloured sky
No more shadows flying around
Remembering my dreams abound
As the heavenly glowing stars swoon
Circling around the glittering moon
Radiating above in the sky like mothers
Amongst the ashen white, I saw serenity's colours

When I See Autumn
I see autumn in dancing leaves.
I see autumn in words of poets.
I listen the breeze of autumn in your heart beat.
Which touches my heart when I hug you softly.
I fly in autumn higher and higher.
With a zig zag flow the more I get lighter.
I taste the fruits gifted by trees.
Celebrating and sharing the blessings of autumn.
If you search me please do it soon.
I may get lost in the bushes of autumn.
I get green and green with orange purple flowers.
When the leaves all around me give me the showers.
I dance with the chanting sparrows.
I forget all of my sorrows.
I get lost, lost and lost in the arms of God.
I become numb and dumb when I see autumn.
This poem I write in response of Seema Choudhary's poem 'Beauty of Autumn' and I give her the credit.

Autumn Longing
Let me die away with autumn
Let me be like fire
Ever ignite
Let me fall
I don't want the winter
To come after me
Let the autumn arms
Bright and gold
Let it come for me
In a dream
Like a swallow
Descending for Africa
I want to come with autumn
Let me come away with thee
I want to be wine red
I want tobe amber gold
I want to sleep
With the leaves
I want to burst with juices
Like the berries
I need to sleep
I need to burn
Like the sunset
I need the rest
Like the creatures
Who hibernate
To escape harsh winter
I want tobe with you
Autumn
Let me be asleep with thee
I want to hear you secrets
That hides forever deep
Oh autumn
Let one be in love with me
As I ‘am in love with you
Oh autumn
Let one die away with thee

Autumns Golden Wreath...
On dusty fields of umber
Ther' be no trail nor trace of Summer
Octobers breath unfolds
A wreath of Autumn, solid gold
Smoked shadow, naked branch
Leaves like ticker-tape in dance
Trees stripped of their potpouri
Of majesty, an artists dream
Of a many hues and tones
The artists inspiration hones
Pictorial skills of imagescape
Depicting Autumn's scent and taste
Of hickory, acorns and rain
Harvests fertile spread of grain
Hallowed be these precious gifts
For soon the winds will shift
Winter bites with lions teeth
As surely Robert Frost would speak
Engaged by Autumn's golden wreath
'Til Autumns Death thus be complete

Poet Versus Painter
Kaleidoscopic leaf cover
shimmers in the September sun
casting shadowy and sunlit
shifting pools of darkness and light
on a multicolored graveyard.
Sweet decaying scents permeate
the early autumn environs
while yellow oxeye sunflowers
sway to an autumnal zephyr
that whispers enchanting verses
softly throughout the trees.
********
Never could a master artist
paint like a poet paints with words.
What subtle hues could he employ
to capture a whispering wind,
the sweetness of decaying leaves,
inconsistencies of shadows?
These intangibles are captured
with colors of imagery
that are discriminately mixed
and depicted where the painter
ruefully and completely fails,
affixed to inanimateness
whereas, the poet pens movement
and complexion into his work.

In Autumn's Moonlight
In Autumn's Moonlight
Leaves dance by chance...
In winds of change.
In Autumn's Moonlight
Shadows turn yesterday's garden...
To a rustle of blue and gray.
In Autumn's Moonlight
A breath turns to mist...
and the memory of a past love...
is a cool tear, upon a brisk soul.

Shadows On The Wall
When the fantasy we live in
Lies in pieces on the ground
And there is no false illusion
That can turn your heart around
Nothing can change the way I feel
Nothing can take your love from me
If only I didnt worry
If only I could see
If only I could see
Chasing shadows on the wall
Chasing shadows as they dance on the floor
Chasing dreams that were forever young
Now Im on my own
Chasing shadows on the wall
Shadows on the wall
On the sea of mediocrity
Drifting from a distant shore
No goodbyes no celebration
No-one there to close the door
Only the silence that I feel
Only the lonely road is real
If only I didnt loose you
If only we could be
If only we could be
Chasing shadows on the wall
Chasing shadows as they dance on the floor
Chasing dreams that were forever young
Now Im on my own
Chasing shadows on the wall
Shadows on the wall
Chasing shadows on the wall
Chasing shadows as they start to fall
Chasing dreams that were forever young
Chasing shadows on the wall
Chasing shadows on the wall
Chasing shadows as they dance on the floor
Chasing shadows on the wall

Shadows She Said
there's no more place to go
the other bars are closed
the night the stranger came to town
how do you know
when you're right or wrong?
how do you know
if you hurt or if you don't?
so many people say so many things
but nobody agrees on anything
there's no more place to go
shadows she said
there's no more place to go
shadows she said
this night's an empty shell
shadows she said
and all the shadows followed after her
you burned the book of life
the cradle and the tomb
how could you ever dare
there's no more turning back
your stars lit up in flames
there's gunsmoke in the air
and yesterday you bought a brand-new car
but you don't feel like going very far
there's no more place to go...
there's no more place to go
shadows she said
there's no more place to go
shadows she said
this night's an empty shell
shadows she said
and all the shadows followed after her
here they come...
shadows she said...
and all the shadows followed after her...
shadows she said...

Journeyman
From the red sky of the east
To the sunset in the west
We have cheated deathAnd he has cheated us
But that was just a dream
And this is what it means
We are sleeping and we'll dream for evermore
And the fragment remains of our memories
And the shadows remain with our hands
Deep grey, came to mourn
All the colours of the dawn
Will this Journeymans day be his last?
I do what I want
And I say what I want
And no one can take it away
I do what I want
And I say what I want
And no one can take it away
But the memory still remains
All the past years not so strange
Our winter times are like a silent shroud
And the heartbeat of the day
Drives the mist away
And winter's not the only dream around
In your life you may choose desolation
And the shadows you build with your hands
If you turn to the light
That is burning in the night
Then the Journeyman's day has begun
I do what I want
>And I say what I want
>And no one can take it away
I do what I want
And I say what I want
And no one can take it away
In your life you may choose desolation
And the shadows you build with your hands
If you turn to the light
That is burning in the night
Then the Journeyman's day has begun
I know what I want
And I say what I want
And no one can take it away
I know what I want
And I say what I want
And no one can take it away

Autumn Leaf Fall
Colourful leaves fall through the air,
Red, orange and yellow.
The ones on the ground start to rot,
Black, brown and purple.
Some get caught in the winter bared trees,
Gold, green and silver.
Leaves of the autumn,
The autumn rainbow,
These are the colours of the autumn leaf fall.

Autumn Is Coming
Autumn is coming
With gentle breezes
And howling winds
Autumn is coming
To change the colors
To red, brown, and gold
Upon the forest floor
Will lie the leaves of all the trees
When Autumn is here
When the days cool
And the nights grow long
With a bright silver moon in the sky
When the sleepiness sets in
We will sleep until
Winter breaks
Autumn is coming

Shadows On Your Side
Shackled and raised for a shining crowd,
They want you to speak but the music is louder than -
All of their roar, with the heat of the planets core, but..
The shadows are on your side,
As soon as the lights go down.
In the darkest place you can find,
You belong to the hands of the night..
Promises made with a distant friend
Truth should be known it can only bend -
To a tune of its own, hey youll never hear that voice again.
Scandal in white on a tangled vine
With everybody to say that youre having the time of your life -
When your life is on the slide, but..
(chorus) (chorus)
-
(oh-ohh...oh-oh-oh)
(oh-ohh...oh-oh-oh)
Spinning a compass to choose your way
You can run, you can dive, you can stand and you can soar..
Whichever way you can be sure, that...
(chorus) (chorus)
Shadows on your side
The shadows are on your side
Shadows on your side
The shadows are on your side
Shadows on your side
The shadows are on your side
Shadows on..
