I still believe in Africa

Bikes and broken bakkies
Abandoned by a stream
Renaissance and rebirth
In the blood of a bad dream
I still believe in Africa
How she will rise again

Living with the virus
And determined to endure
She learns to use the remedy
While science finds the cure
City life spills endlessly
Upon the open plain
I will believe in Africa
And she will rise again

Bandits shoot the tyres
Desk jockeys steal the grain
The cream is scooped up from the top
The well holds tears of rain
Still Africa has never lost
Her morning sunshine face
And all the sins of history
Prepare to be erased

I stood so still on Otse Hill
As the birds passed by
And watched the distant lightning
Paint the Transvaal sky
The rain stops at the border
One night it will cross over
To meet the morning sun

And from the ash of cruelties
Her new rainbow will come.

Africa Call (Black People)

You are black still your feet
know not Africa soil, you
are black still your eyes have
never witness how the sun
rise and fall in Africa, you are
black yet you have never nod
or move your hips to any Africa
music. How free is your blood?
How thick is it? How long will
you remain slave and erased from
your Africa root? Come home peace
dwell here, come and taste the runing
water of Africa, come let Africa free you.

My Africa

The land of my forefathers
Victim of imperialism, colonialism
Wars and all social ills alike
Perpetuated by western forces
Pregnant with deceit and diseases
To cripple my Africa

Rise Africa, rise
Rise from victimhood
Rise from the Dark Continent
Rise above civil wars
Rise and open economic doors
Rise my Africa, rise

Ooh my Africa
Food parcels and UN aids
Are demeaning and degrading
In the glory of your oil and minerals
Whilst the aiders loot your riches
And encourage you to fight each other

Unite Africa, unite
Invoke the unity sought by Nkruma
Africans refuse to be pawns
Refuse to be traitors of your fellows
In the global circles, know thy self
And build my Africa

Don’t Cry For Me Africa

Don’t cry for me Africa
Because I will never let you out of my mind
I hear your voices people of Africa
I hear your cries people of Africa
I see pain in your eyes people of Africa
It is hard to describe what you people of Africa are going through
Poverty strikes you all people of Africa
Don’t cry for me Africa
Because I will keep you in my prayers people of Africa
Power to the people of Africa
People of Africa lift your spirit higher
Lord is the light and truth people of Africa
The Lord sends you a message from his heart to you people of Africa
He said because I love you
I will answer your prayers
I hear your prayers
Don’t cry for me Africa
Because you have a friend that is the Lord
People of Africa continue doing the Lords work
Make a wish people of Africa
The people of Africa are looking at the Lord face to face
Lord here is no paradise
We dream a little dream said the people of Africa to the Lord
The People of Africa Pray that the Lord will give each other strength every day
Don’t cry for me Africa
Save the people of Africa
Strengthened the people of Africa each day
Because I’ll be there in your dreams people of Africa
The people of Africa tells The Lord how much they love him
Don’t cry for me Africa
Lord comes when you are ready people of Africa
Feelings you have for your Lord People of Africa
And I know you will never let it die
Nothing but flowers the people of Africa will plant in the sea shore for the Lord
Don’t cry for me Africa
The people of Africa needs hope to heal there land
The Lord rose up on you people of Africa
Don’t cry for me Africa
My heart will go on
Once I close this door of the ship I will sail across the Atlantic Sea

Hello Africa

Hello africa are you still sleeping
Don’t you know that your God has brought another morning
Your brothers had cross the river already
And yet you are still not ready
You are the one that help them cross
Because you are the one that God give strength and force
Hello africa can tou hear me
To cross the river with speed light you can flee
Your brothers are waiting for you
But it is as if you did not want to go through
Hello africa are you dreaming
You need to wake up time is flying
Your sons are the vivid enemy
They embesseled your wealth making it their money
Hello africa you need to wake yp
Your brothers are anxious they did not want to stop
They are tired of helping you
They want to see you do
Hello africa I am inside you
Can you hear me your sons are looting you
Wake up africa wake up
You need to rise and stand up

Oh It Is Africa

Oh it is Africa
Oh Africa it is my mother land
land of milk and honey
land of natural beauty
Oh Africa land is where i live
Oh Africa is
A land blessed by God himself
On the day of creation
God threw diamond like stone
gold like rain
He dropped crude oil like rain
Oh Africa
land of milk and honey

Oh Africa
Guns and bombs, tears and mud
Luxury limos race through blood
But bound by debt to hopelessness

Africa's Praying

Let justice shield us
Yes indeed, be our defense
In this land
In Africa

Let there be a rain of blessing
Yes indeed, abundance in our store house
In this nation
In Africa

Heal our land, give us a cure
Unveil our vision
In this land
In Africa

Forgive us our debts
We are born debtors
In this land
In Africa

We will always remember your praise
When we walk in liberty
Oh Thou our God
In Africa

Let us lead again, with treasures
As in the days of old
This land
In Africa

We pray thee of highest heavens
We ascribe you all the greatness
We in this land
In Africa

Africa We Stand Up For You

When they ask you tell them you are from Africa.
Africa and nowhere else.
Africa has made you
Africa has made me;
It is time to make Africa.
So Mother Africa
Do not be in haste.
Your sons and daughters
Still live.
They live you rather than leave you.
Once perched we will fly.
Fly to you and not from you.
Your songs of praise
Will always be sung unrestrained.
You are Beautiful, Africa.
Africa you will never go on your knees.
We were imprisoned,
We were exported,
We were whipped in those days,
We went on our knees,
But it was not for a lack of hope
Or a plea of submission on our part.
Rather, our kneeling was to take
Courage from the brown earth,
Your Symbol-In-Common.
Like the Saviour among thieves on the cross,
Africa will be the Lighthouse to the world.
Diop may have died at thirty-three,
Left behind only twenty-two poems,
But Africa we say this to you:
More Diops will rise.
And even live to a Senghor.
Yes, Africa, do not be in haste.
Your children are still Alive.
And no death can ever kill Us.

African Skies

You say youre surprised
I thought Id write today
Pieces of my life
That time cant fade away
Land lies dry - africa
And the clouds roll by - africa
I held you every night
I believed in all youd say
Now the dust blows in my eyes
But those dreams wont fade away
The sky burns red - africa
Dont you cry - africa
Africa
When you cry it rains - africa
Still the children smile - africa
When you cry it rains - africa
When the wild dogs howl - africa
Still the clouds roll by - africa

Sunshine Africa

Hatred is the main cause of death and,
Love is the true act of peace;
But i am living in Africa where the sun shines and,
I want to reachout to the whole world with my muse.

Not only in my hometown but,
Beyond the peoples of the world;
Not only with my own people,
But also to expose the true love of Sunshine Africa;
For in this life, many are called but few are chosen.

I am from Africa where the sun shines,
But my mind is like the narrow path in your homes;
Because everybody want the gold than the bronze.
So is life, when we all compete to win;
But hatred is the main cause of death and,
Love is the true act of peace.

The pillars of hatred is around me but,
I will overcome it with the chambers of my past experiences;
And as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh.

Sunshine Africa,
Try to visit the realms of love with me;
Home is home but,
When the home doesn't give you respect you leave it.

Sunshine Africa,
Try to take it along with you;
And let the birds sing with you in any land that you find yourself.

Sunshine Africa,
Let the animals meet you in peace;
For they are part of Africa with love and care.

Song of Mother Africa

The old man sits beside the Council Chamber, stretches out his hand
The officers pass by, their minds on paper
The small shields of security drawn around him by the month
Don’t protect him from the night and dusts of winter

The land used up and over, cattle die up to their necks in mud
Choppers cross the border to machine-gun ivory
The villages have lost their trees and cannot nurse back any
So many children science left, to mothers of this Africa

They wait within prefabricated words and walls
For the big black pots to fill with food of conscience
And when the meal is over, the bells of cities ring
For shifts of building bricks in export industry

The shopping mall is crowded when the pay is out
The queues of supplication jumped by family or favour
The dust of town is somehow of a much more bitter flavour
Than the early morning milk of Mother Africa

And I’m singing of the beauty of her eyes -
I’m thankful for the way she changed my life -
Of stars that fade as people rise and build their fires
In the early morning mists of Mother Africa.

America of Our Dreams

I am not in Africa
But Africa is in me,
Africa lies in my blood,
Where I was brought
up, amidst this rot;
This rot that had eaten deep
Into the heart of my Africa.
If we could right this wrong
Then we could make of Africa,
The America of our dreams.

Africa of My Dream

Africa, my Africa of my dream
Here is where I want to be
And here I have always been,
At my end, here is where I want to sleep.
Africa, I have been away for too long
Please don't cry for me my mother
Twenty years is a long time to be
Away from home,
But I am still here, my one home
My Africa, my Africa of my dream
Many are leaving, leaving for America,
But I am still here and here
Is where I will always be,
My Africa is my America.
We are working towards that,
A better Africa, a great Africa!
This is Africa of my dream,
My Africa is my America.

I Have A Dream Of An Africa

I have a dream of an Africa
A united Africa!
Self sustaining and self reliant
Able to produce
Anything out of nothing
And trade within her-self
And with the world at large
A proud Africa
Of a civilizing people
Like our Egyptian, and
Olmec ancestors…
I dream of an Africa that
Patrice Lumumba died for
Kwame Nkrumah stood up for
Nelson Mandela paid dearly for
An Africa of Haile Selasie I
An Africa of GIANTS
Where men are great, proud and dignified
An Africa of Cleopatra, Maqeda, Nzingha and Nyamazana
An Africa without genocide, starvation, or disease
An Africa, without dictators!
A free Africa
Taking on the driver’s seat
Teaching without enslaving-
To show the world it’s possible!
No refugees because
All the Children belong!
An Africa, a Mother Land
Where an elephant
Feeds from the Elephant Tree
And the gorilla roams free
And the lion goes to hunt
If he wants
Because God loved him to!
An Africa that
Bhambatha (ka Mancinza)
Sobukwe (Robert)
Fanon (Frantz)
Biko (Steve)
X (Malcolm)
Garvey (Marcus)
And Douglas (Frederick)
Would look at and smile about
I have a dream of an Africa
But from this one, I shall not wake
Because I dream standing up
My eyes looking out
My arms open wide
To the ones, mad enough, to dream the same-

Where Africa is

Africa my land,
Africa my heart,
Africa my eternal,
Africa my inspiration;

Where are you?
Somebody has asked me
And let me tell him
Where you are.

You are between Pacific and Indian
Simple oceans made of fishers
More than that you are
In the centre of my spirit.

Africa is in me,
I am where Africa is.

The Dark Continent

'Africa my beginning, Africa my end. I was born here and I will die here'
Africa you bear my hopes and fears
Poverty, famine, crime and AIDS are words which plague Mother Africa's name
These demons bring me shame
While people try to make Africa better, a few let the hardship overpower them
Shame on them
They give up hope and go about their knavish ways
Even though there's hope on the horizon, be that as it may
They continue to destroy what little Mother Africa has
Africa is no longer what she was
'Mother Africa is weeping'
Yet a new dawn may be creeping
Mother Africa and her children are beautiful, they know their place in nature
Even though hardship may corrupt good nature
In the name of ALL that is good, I hope Africa will rise one day
And we'll stop the suffering before she frays
The words upon a famous poet, I hear
'Africa my beginning, Africa my end. I was born here and I will die here'

Africa's Ride

Need not say much
For the eye sees
Why not percieve?
Behold Africa
As it rises
Old guards we honour
But new has come
Purely new

Now see as we erase
The memories of old
Scrap every form of hate
Build on what was our foundation
Love, peace and justice
Forgiveness we consinder
Bitterness only errodes

Behold africa rising
Flying on a winged horse
You have not seen this
Butterflies've gotta give way
We're not gonna crawl like snakes
On eagles wings we rise
To where the sun lights first

This ain't pride
A new generation
Ambatious and strong
Cannot be stopped
What wall stops the winds
You may stop the watters
We move like the wind
You may corrupt us with flames
We'll eject you out of or systems

But Africa will rise
This aint just hope
It evidently is real
Oh, yeah!
I pride in Africa's
Humble start
Great is the finish
Whether in shoes or sandles
Whether on bear foot or in boots
We'll race to win

Africa's rising
Like a morning star

The Black Continent

Africa, Africa, Africa!
The Black Continent full of raw materials and talented people;
For the Blackman is capable of managing his own affairs.

Beautiful South Africa,
Beautiful North Africa,
Beautiful East Africa,
Beautiful West Africa,
And beautiful Central Africa! !
This Black Continent is full of natural resources.

Visit Africa to understand our ways,
For we have more to the world!
And like the muse of the animals in the forest,
But The Black Continent means a lot to all of us on this earth:

Africa, Africa, Africa! !
