The Guitarist Tunes Up
With what attentive courtesy he bent
Over his instrument;
Not as a lordly conquerer who could
Command both wire and wood,
But as a man with a loved woman might,
Inquiring with delight
What slight essential things she had to say
Before they started, he and she, to play.

You're Such A Wire
Why do you hate me?
Why don't you just simmer down?
You could be doing great things
Instead of just pushing me around
Or maybe just be sleeping
Even you at times must get tired
You're such a wire
You're such a wire look at you
You're such a wire look at you packing it blasting it
You're such a wire
The world it looks so big but it feels so small
I'm snapping like a twig in this dried up dying fall
I think the winter is gonna be a real whirligig
Why do i hate you?
That's because i am full of it
If all your dreams came ture then you must be completely full of it
You won't catch me weeping 'cause you know that i'm not a crier
I'm such a wire
I'm such a wire look at me
I'm such a wire look at me packing it blasting it
I'm such a wire

... & Through The Wire
And through the wire I hear your voice
And through the wire I touch the power
And through the wire I see your face
Its through the wire
Friday night, youre staying at home I want you
Im tickling and clicking a metronome I want you
Prowling the waterhole-i wait for the kill I want you
Pressures building-overspill I want you
And through the wire you are secure
And through the wire we can talk
And through the wire we can walk
Its through the wire
Watchmaker steadies his delicate hand I want you
For barbeque parties on blood red sands I want you
Caught in the struggle tight on the rod I want you
Bring out the devil to bring out the God I want you
And through the wire I hear your voice
And through the wire I touch the power
And through the wire I see your face
Its through the wire
Driving round the city rings
Staring at the shape of things
I talk in pictures not in words
Overloaded with everything we said
Be careful where you tread
Watch the wire
And through the wire you are secure
And through the wire we can talk
And through the wire we can walk
And through the wire were clinging like leeches
And through the wire we push out tailormade speeches
And through the wire we get so strange across the border
We get so strange across the border

Courtesy
I remember years ago
when courtesy was quite normal
amongst most people.
Giving up your seat on a bus
to someone elderly or a mum to be.
Opening the door for a woman
or someone struggling with something.
Being polite to everyone, you met.
Courtesy and respect
then used to hold each other’s hand,
but not anymore, I am afraid.
They have almost vanished
through the passing of time.
Some youngsters swear at you
instead of saying thank you
when you offer to help them out a bit.
The helping hands are hardly ever there
when you need one occasionally.
Instead, they just ignore you
and pass on their way.
I hope someone soon will think
of having a courtesy day.
A day when the whole world
can back on track
with giving a little courtesy every day.

Hang Wire
Theyre going higher
Wind is whistling on the barbs
Your heads a hammer
Hang wire, hang wire
Hang wire
(meet you at the) hang wire
That man is a liar
The day is like a warm night
Salt rusts the cold line
Hang wire, hang wire
Hang wire
(meet you at the) hang wire
Every morning and every day
Ill bossanova with ya
If there were a fire
Can we scratch beneath this
Hang wire, hang wire
Hang wire
(meet you at the) hang wire?

It's easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself.

So our ears got used to listening to jazz in the place that it was that the bass player could not play. No one really realized it and really addressed it until the bass players who could play their instrument came along and started doing something with it.

Through The Wood
THROUGH the wood, the green wood, the wet wood, the light wood,
Love and I went maying a thousand lives ago;
Shafts of golden sunlight had made a golden bright wood
In my heart reflected, because I loved you so.
Through the wood, the chill wood, the brown wood, the bare wood,
I alone went lonely no later than last year,
What had thinned the branches, and wrecked my dear and fair wood,
Killed the pale wild roses and left the rose-thorns sere?
Through the wood, the dead wood, the sad wood, the lone wood,
Winds of winter shiver through lichens old and grey,
You ride past forgetting the wood that was our own wood
All our own--and withered as ever a flower of May.

4. Well Rattled
The cowboys all dug a large pit
Around which some boulders did fit
Then piled up the wood which lit
To keep the cold out where they sit
One went to fetch some more wood
His trail boss said he thought he should
A nice dry pile that looked real good
Where snakes liked hide if they could
The wind got up spooking the cattle
It hid the slight sound of a rattle
From wood came the snake to do battle
And all the cowhand did was prattle
Vexed the snake started to slide
The cowhands fear he could'nt hide
He stood there with legs open wide
And now the poor cowboy can't ride

Cowgirl In The Sand
Hello cowgirl in the sand
Is this place at your command
Can I stay here for a while
Can I see your sweet sweet smile
Old enough now to change your name
When so many love you is it the same?
Its the woman in you that makes you want to play this game.
Hello ruby in the dust
Has your band begun to rust
After all the sin weve had
I was hopin that we turn back
Old enough now to change your name
When so many love you is it the same
Its the woman in you that makes you want to play this game.
Hello woman of my dreams
This is not the way it seems
Purple words on a grey background
To be a woman and to be turned down
Old enough now to change your name
When so many love you is it the same
Its the woman in you that makes you want to play this game.

The Cage....
one can see
an unaffected wire
cage on days when
the lovebirds
are set free
it has no wings
only squares and squares
of the usual
indifference
whether the door is open
or close
what does it matter to it?
an instrument will always be
the usual instrument
there is no imagination
no dream
not even the temporary bliss
of an illusion

Evil Woman
I've seen a look of evil in your eyes
You've been filling me all full of lies
Sorrow will not change your shameful deeds
Do well best, someone else has better seen
Evil woman, don't you play your games with me
Evil woman, don't you play your games with me
Now I know just what you're looking for
You want me to claim that child you bore
Well you know that it must he not be
And you know the way it got to be
Evil woman, don't you play your games with me
Evil woman, don't you play your games with
Evil woman, don't you play your games with me
Evil woman, don't you play your games with me
Wickedness lies in your moisten lips
Your body moves just like the crack of a whip
Blackness sleeps on top of your stray bed
Do you whish that you could see me dead
Evil woman, don't you play your games with me
Evil woman, don't you play your games with me
Evil woman, don't you play your games with me
Evil woman, don't you play your games with me

Man & woman (1) 12 / 18
1) A woman is the outer skin of a man.
2) A woman is the wood and the man is the hunter.
3) A woman is a man's shadow so how can she lead him?
4) A woman is a man's inhale
5) A woman has two arms.
One for her lover./ and the other for his defeat.
6) A woman's kiss is to get into her man's heart
but a man's kiss is to get into his woman's down part convex.
7) A man sleeps in a woman's lap only to leave her play with his head.
8) The pride of a woman lies in her magic.
Who can ask a magician for his secrets! !
9) A woman in love loses her mind, but a man in love loses his sight.
10) A woman may marry for motherhood, but aman marry for his eroticism.

Live Wire
I know where you got to be going but you don't know why
I see things I ought not to know but I can't help life
You never knew my heart for you was monster size
You're a live wire
You're a live wire
Let me know if you want to check out for the all time high
My man told me long hellos and short good byes
But you are something else I love you please don't die
You're a live wire
You're a live wire

Uncontrolled
The mighty forces of mysterious space
Are one by one subdued by lordly man.
The awful lightning that for eons ran
Their devastating and untrammeled race,
Now bear his messages from place to place
Like carrier doves. The winds lead on his van;
The lawless elements no longer can
Resist his strength, but yield with sullen grace.
His bold feet scaling heights before untrod,
Light, darkness, air and water, heat and cold
He bids go forth and bring him power and pelf.
And yet though ruler, king and demi-god
He walks with his fierce passions uncontrolled
The conquerer of all things – save himself.

Doin' The Things That We Want To
The other night we went to see Sam's play
doin' the things that we want to
It was very physical it held you to the stage
doin' the things that he wants to
Doin' the things that he wants to
The guy's a cowboy from some rodeo
doin' the things that he wants to
The girl had once loved him, but now she want to go
doin' the things that she wants to
Doin' the things that she wants to
The man was bullish, the woman was a tease
doin' the things that they want to
They fought with their words, their bodies and their deeds
doin' the things that they want to
When they finished fighting, they exited the stage
doin' the things that they want to
I was firmly struck by the way they had behaved
doin' the things that they want to
Doin' the things that they want to
hey
It reminds me of the movies Marty made about New York
(doin' the things that he wants to)
Those frank and brutal movies that are so brilliant
(doin' the things that he wants to)
";True Love"; meet ";The Raging Bull";
(doin' the things that he wants to)
They're very inspirational, I love the things they do
(doin' the things that he wants to)
Doin' the things that I want to
There's not much you hear on the radio today
(doin' the things that we want to)
But you could still see a movie or a play
(doin' the things that we want to)
Here's to ";Travis Bickle"; and here's ";Johnny Boy";
(doin' the things that we want to)
Growing up in the Mean Streets of New York
(doin' the things that we want to)
I wrote this song 'cause I'd like to shake your hand
(doin' the things that we want to)

Glenn Gould In Heaven Does Lament
Here the chipped ivory is only cloud.
The Instrument, too very old, is Archetype.
Strings of gold do not a music make.
A lyre presses sterilely into where once
was crotch.
Crotchless, music is useless here.
So am I. No one listens.
The only passion is the Christ's
and that's all passed.
Crowds are overtaken taking cue
from Hosts Divine with Hosannahs
of obligation clinical:
Holy. Holy. Holy.
I miss Canada.
Cold. Precise. Canada.
Icicles there hear better what is played.
Bitter wind cracks the fingers' skein.
Each note is pain. There's blood.
Let us rejoice what is in scarlet shed.
Let us praise its iron.
Let its oxidation in us reign.
O lead us all to right ruin.
Roll in the coagulate burden then,
the Piano Grand.
Delight the last name, my own, rhymes
with 'wood' almost, a nuance in a minor
key, that from which the Instrument is made.
And my little chair.
Little chair. Hold me, pray.
Let there be, crouched again,
one last time, play and play.
Let knees press close to chest near,
knees there do pray.
All of me is Agency become.
Music there is in fingers latency,
theirs deserve all waking praise.

Two Loves
The woman he loved, while he dreamed of her,
Danced on till the stars grew dim,
But alone with her heart, from the world apart
Sat the woman who loved him.
The woman he worshipped only smiled
When he poured out his passionate love.
But the other somewhere, kissed her treasure most rare,
A book he had touched with his glove.
The woman he loved betrayed his trust,
And he wore the scars for life;
And he cared not, nor knew, that the other was true;
But no man called her his wife.
The woman he loved trod festal halls,
While they sang his funeral hymn,
But the sad bells tolled, ere the year was old,
For the woman that loved him.
