Would You... (Open The Door)
if i set fire to my heart,
would you see the flames...
and stop, a stranger in the night,
to warm your soul?
if i broke the glass of my dreams,
would you pick up the pieces...
would the light shining on them,
become the prism of your thoughts?
and if i shed my leaves,
would you say farewell to the swallows...
and rake in the stillness, waiting on snow?
if my silence shouted...
would you hear... would you hear?
if i took off my mask,
would you open the door?

Single Candle Light
The warm glow of a single candle flame
beckons a weary stranger there
to the bosom of a warm fire in
from the nighttime's cold.
A warm caring heart keeps the candle lit
to welcome back their love
from their long and lonely trek.
Each night they light the candle,
and sit waiting all alone,
hoping one night their love,
will glance on it
and return to their loving home.
The warm stretching finger
prods the darkness every night,
as it can be seen from miles away
across the empty prairie,
as they sit alone each night
by the warm fair light.
Hoping that their love will see its warm glow
and return to it and come home tonight
from their long and weary trek.
For years, the candle was lit,
but sadly, it shines no more.
Love broke the lonely heart
when they never came home.
Now all you can hear is a lonesome whistle
when the wind blows cold at night.
It has replaced that warm glow
of that single candle light.

Wild Honey
Open your arms in the early mornin
When the light comes shinin through
Cant you hear my heart beat just for you?
Its beating so wild, honey.
And light comes shinin
Singin my song
And the band is playin
And the music is tried and true
Cant you hear my heart beat just for you?
Its beating so wild, honey.
And light comes shinin
Ill be waiting for you
Ill be waiting here for me
Way up on the mountain
Where the hillside rolls down to the sea
Tell me whats real?
What I feel inside
Any time of day or night will do
Its alright
Cant you hear my heart beat just for you?
Its beating so wild, honey.
And your light comes shining through.
Tell me whats real
What I feel inside
Any time of day or night will do
Its alright.
Cant you hear my heart beat just for you?
Its beating so wild, honey.
And the light comes shining through
And the light comes shining through . . .
Its beating so wild . . .
And the light comes shining through
And the light comes shining through.

Pick It Up Or Be Gone
Pick it up or be gone.
What's given.
Pick it up or be gone.
What's there.
Pick it up or be gone.
The steak.
Or the rake.
Or the keys,
To open the gate!
Now...
Pick it up or be gone.
What's given.
Pick it up or be gone.
What's there.
Pick it up or be gone.
The steak.
Or the rake.
Or the keys,
To open the gate!
Now...
Don't try to imitate,
Homemade cake.
Oh no.
And don't ever try to duplicate,
A delicious taste.
Or...
Butter up faked mashed potatos.
Pick it up or be gone.
What's given.
Pick it up or be gone.
What's there.
Pick it up or be gone.
The steak.
Or the rake.
Or the keys,
To open the gate!
Now...
Pick it up or be gone.
Oooow.
Pick it up or be gone.
Yeah.
Pick it up or be gone.
Now...
Pick it up or be gone!

Above The Shed On The Winter Porch
Above the shed, the winter porch
a young wild dove
continually calls its mate
and when the door slides open
I see dots on its breast
and at the pond it quenches its thirst
and I see dots
and I see dots
that shines; when it is frightened it becomes sullen.
Above the shed, the winter porch
the oak tree rustles
and then my mother coughs badly from croup
where sometimes she sits and dream
as the sunshine flames up hot
and I watch her caringly
as the sunshine flames up
as the sunshine flames up
as if a field fire runs past.
Above the shed, the winter porch
a swarm of swallows peck,
sometimes doves land in a group,
and at times I hear my mother sneezing
while I am caught with a kind of hope,
but I know that time is running out
while I am caught,
while I am caught
and my life at times feels sold out.

It's Just Me!
do you hear...
the stranger's voice,
singing softly,
as he sweeps the floor
of your room?
do you hear
the whirr of
the butterfly's wings,
flying just outside your window?
do you hear
the silence of the rain,
falling just outside your door?
do you hear
the beating of the heart,
rhyming yours,
filling the void with light?
it's just me...
let me in!

Heart In Pieces
Only you can touch me with your dark eyes
With a look that burns like fire through the lonely night.
Sometimes I run, but I can never hide
From the pieces of my heart that fall like rain from the sky.
When you hear the thunder,
When you hear the sound of a mountain crashing down,
Its just my heart in pieces.
When I feel the hunger,
When Im reaching out with a hundred thousand hands,
Its my heart in pieces.
No one cuts through my soul like you can.
Im naked to the bone beside your empty hand.
I see your face and I remember.
Im a prisoner of your fate,
Im a loser in the race.
When you hear the thunder,
When you hear the sounds of a mountain crashing down,
Its just my heart in pieces.
When I feel the hunger,
When Im reaching out with a hundred thousand hands,
Its my heart in pieces.
I walk the fine line
Between fire and the ice.
The memory lives on.
Theres always something to remind me.
Every teardrop falling
When your voice keeps calling.
[chorus repeats until fade.]

Open Door
I see your smiling face, by the open door
Theres the morning light
Shining in your hair, and in your eyes
And just a little way behind that smile of yours
I see another one, oh so far away
If only for one second, I could hold you close to me
When the master calls for me again
Theres nothing I can say, or I can do
Goodbye, my love
Time has come to say farewell
I hear the call again
Goodbye to the world
Ive shouted for so long
Oh theres so much my love, that I can never say
And in a little while, in a little while
Theres nothing left to see
As the years go by and I have not returned
And the night has come, falling all around
Ooh if you count the stars youll know
How many have gone out
And when the master calls for me again
Theres nothing that I can say
Or I can do
Stand in the sun
Shut your eyes and feel the world
Its changing every day
Goodbye my love
Each day will seem so long
Ooh theres so much I feel, that I can never say
I cant see you
I cant feel you anymore
Ive just a memory of that open door

Stillness Of The Night
Midnight on the hill I heard the thunder fill
The stillness of the night
It hit me like a slap, youre never comin back
From the stillness of the night
It was never black or white, neither wrong or right
Like the shadow of a full moons light
I knew wed lost the track, when I heard the lightning crack
The stillness of the night
Chorus
In the stillness of the night
Thats when well make it right
We can stop the thunder till the light
In the stillness of the night
I know you think you hear, those voices in your ear
In the stillness of the night
But Ive tried to make it clear theres nothing left to fear
Just the stillness of the night
And if you listen hard you might find the reason for your fright
Just the wind is high tonight
And the danger we must face is the anger of this race
In the stillness of the night
Chorus

One More Night
One more night ...
City lights are
Burning in the distance
Seems they're tellin' me
To hurry home
But i can't push these
Wheels of mine no harder
So hold on baby for
One more night alone
There's time for me to take just
One look over my shoulder
One last glance at
What's been going on
'cause i'll be there at
First light in the morning
We'll pick up the pieces
And baby, then we'll be long gone
Pick up the pieces and run with me
As fast as you can
You know you always said
I was the man
Pick up the pieces, let's do it now
Let's say our last farewell
Tomorrow may be too late
As far as i can tell

A Muted Tune
You be a couplet
And I'll be the prose-
All they hear is your heart that's beating,
All they hear is the door that close.
You be the portal
And I'll be the way-
All they hear is the words, that falling;
All they hear, what they want to say.
You be the starlight
And I'll be the moon-
All they hear is a far light shining:
All they hear is a muted tune.

Dixie Fire
Im not a stranger to passion,
Ive seen a lot of love in my time
Felt that physical attraction,
From the touch in the heat of the night
Been all over the country,
Started my share of new flames
But after all is said and done,
Theres only one that remains
Dixie fire burnin down in my soul
Dixie fire it never leaves me whole
It took a hometown girl to show me
How cruel these hot summer nights can be
Now theres a Dixie fire burning in the heart of me
Burning in the heart of me
Searching for some kind of direction,
Looking for a guiding light
Needed to see a lighthouse,
Like a ship on a stormy night
Somehow you heard my music,
You felt the sadness in me
You took the words that were so cold,
And added a warm melody
Dixie fire burnin down in my soul
Dixie fire it never leaves me whole
It took a hometown girl to show me
How cruel these hot summer nights can be
Now theres a Dixie fire burning in the heart of me
Burning in the heart of me
(Burn it down now)
Burn, burn, burnin
Burn, burn, burnin (Cant you see that Im)
Burn, burn, burnin (Theres a Dixie fire)
Burn, burn, burnin (Dont you know that Im)
Burn, burn, burnin
Burn, burn, burnin

Break
Tonight I am flying about
On some sort of
Roller coaster
Lost in a myriad of
Pieces of my dreams, as
Pieces of glass
In a kaleidoscope,
Spinning madly,
Or some
Fast moving
Merry-go-round,
Traveling at the speed of light
My thoughts are
Inter meshing, though disconnected-
It seems as if I have been
Sleeping too long in my plight, I cannot sing because
My heart is throbbing, and this pain I feel
Won’t stop even though the merry-go-round
Is still revolving around the sun,
I am nearly fifty-three light years old and my thoughts, my thoughts can’t
Connect with anything real, and
I hardly can discern veracity?
I hardly can discern… I can hardly discern.
I have slept for so many years, it seems
And that pain is a pounding heartache,
My soul is lost in a brush fire, sizzling out of control,
Out of control…? …
My spirit is is sinking in that
Whirlpool of life, that magenta sky, those beautiful shades of shocking blue,
Cerulean, cobalt –blue nights-
Against purplish mountains
Standing, I am, proudly and boldly before the sun,
My inner space,
My own small world and the voices that I hear
Are real to me but deafened to the world outside,
I live in a make-believe land beyond this planet of which
The door is padlocked and keyed,
I ride alone- except for the Programmed?
I sing and dance alone- I cry alone
I cry and cry and nobody hears my silent tears
Splashing against the tide, the pain, the agony of it all,
But thank god for my solitude in
This sea of life that
I have chosen to live my days
My born days…
The world has stopped dead in its revolution,
Inside of me something is growing
Is it my pride, my anger is coming into
Power and I just want to scream
Because that is where the pain is emanating from
All of the wrath rage and anger
Sizzling out of control
Tearing at my gut and I just
Can’t get a grip on all of the
Antipathy as the fire keeps burning,
Smoldering and fuming inside of my brain
That is far removed, dissimilar and diseased,
Meninges, cotton filled?
Whirling, I am in a
Constantly revolving standstill-
Thunder and lightening
A deluge of hail, sleet, snow and
Please stop the rain from falling-
I am drowning in my own whirlpool of disaster-stop the rain,
Stop the merry-go-round,
I must get off of my horse before it goes around once more
I can’t even catch a ring off the stick that the magic man is holding?
I am a frail little child inside,
I just lost my pretty new shiny penny, and
I can’t stop these tears,
And the pain?
Stop the rain-
Kaleidoscopic shards of colorful glass are
Scattered before my poor tired eyes as I am picking up the pieces of my scattered dreams
One by one, but
I just cannot count the stars anymore.

Another Insomniac Night
last night thoughts came
rambling and we had a guessing game
of what each image mean
for instance the closed door of the dorm
at 1: 30 a.m. when all of us were drank
when the fat one climbs and breaks
open a glass door
i can still hear the shattered pieces
of glass
but no one minds as everyone were
afraid and pretended to be asleep
for instance the bald prefect was surprised
making love with someone we knew inside
his room
no one likes to tell about these anymore
those secrets that must be kept
and buried in the chambers
of our ruined subconscious subways
in the morning i look at my eyes
buried in my sockets
but i always think of some advantages
about those insomniac nights
these bed for hidden thoughts
uncovered by its curious hands
those that want to be
part of who we are now
no one
not even our morbidity
erases them

Do You See My Truths? .....
naked shall you see me
dressed in twilight
do you see the truth in me now?
you are wrong
for my thoughts are still covered thickly
and each letter
still tries to conceal what my words
shall try to speak
everyday i write the words
the poems that you read
do you claim to see the truths in me now?
you are wrong again
for what i am still belongs to those
unspoken
and in my silence i shower you
with its emptiness
do you see my truths now?
you are wrong again
my silence does not speak everything
there is still the hush of the wind
the chimes of wood and metal
this silence runs and does not stop
and you flag it
and talk to it
do you hear my truths? do you see them now?
you are wrong again
for i have buried all of them in their niches
when you open each
you will find no door
when you go over the windows
you will see what truths might still be there
those dried petals of a rose
those letters with words faded like sunsets
those broken pieces of porcelain and glass
those jigsaw puzzles still
unfilled
those chains with missing links
those buttons that do not fit
do you see my truths now?
i agree, on those dusts, they have now become yours
visible to the caution of
your heart.

Made By Hand
made by hand....
dreams woven
in a fine cloth....
steps made of stone,
laid one upon the other.
shelter made of oak,
cut and hauled,
nailed together in the sun,
able to stand the night.
this window made of glass,
allowing light and dark
to intertwine....
this old bed made of pine....
the path to the doorway
laid with pine needles....
this old door always open....
the light always on....
this heart made by hand,
waiting for you,
in this stillness...
made by hand!

Into My Life
Carpet stained with my red wine
Ive been staring at the fire
I keep looking at the time
Im waiting on you
I can hear the howling wind
Yes the sound is getting higher
As the night is closing in
Im waiting on you
Those big black eyes wicked smile
That you flash as you walk through my door
Into my life
Into my life
Into my life
Wont you come in and sit right down
Here let me pour a stolichnaya
Why is it when you come around
Im waiting on you
We drink until we get too tired
Even though you try to dance for me
I still cant light up your fire
So Im waiting on you
From time to time I feel so blind
And theres still so much more left to do
Into my life
Into my life
Into my life
You call me on the telephone
You say that I am always busy
So why am I here all alone
Waiting on you
I pick you up in my white car
I could fall ever so easily
Why you keep me hanging on
Im waiting on you
Still, those big black eyes wicked smile
That you flash as you walk through my door
Into my life

Farewell To Annabel
Where did ya go when the snow lay on the ground
What did ya do when the rain began to fall
How did it feel when I looked through your soul
When was the last time you wanted my love
How many nights did you cry your dreams to sleep
Why did you hide what you knew would not stay hidden
How could you put yourself through like you did
Im not the kind that would hold you that way
Drop me a line if ya wake up feelin bad
Im still a friend and Id like to hear from you
Where does it say love should last forever
When was the last time I told that to you
Farewell to annabel, farewell
Farewell to annabel, farewell
Farewell to annabel, fare thee well
Farewell to annabel, farewell

Just Make It Stop
Just make it stop.
The stillness in the air.
The shattered mirror just sitting their.
The hate.
The anger.
Just make it all stop.
I can't take it no more.
The constant ringing upon my ears.
The blood curdling screams I continuously hear.
Just make it stop.
The stillness in the air.
The shattered mirror just sitting their.
The hate.
The anger.
Just make it all stop.
I can't take it no more.
The constant ringing upon my ears.
The blood curdling screams I continuously hear.
Fist flying.
Object Throwing.
Door Slamming.
Here's my pause button.
Cranking up the music and start jamming.
For its my only way out.
Just make it stop.
The stillness in the air.
The shattered mirror just sitting their.
The hate.
The anger
Just make it all stop.
I can't take it no more.
The constant ringing upon my ears.
The blood curdling screams I continuously hear.
Just make it stop.
The stillness in the air.
The shattered mirror just sitting their.
The hate.
The anger.
Just make it all stop.
I can't take it no more.
The constant ringing upon my ears.
The blood curdling screams I continuously hear.
It forever sits upon a child's mind.
Was it something he did?
Is that why daddy smacks mommy around?
Is that why mommy brings a different man day after day.
Which is my real father.
A bastard by definition.
With a needle in her arm and she does not wake.
What am I to do now.
Do I call 911 in the attempts to save her.
These questions constantly stir.
A life in a melting pot.
I wonder how I will turn out.
Now shes sitting in the bath tub.
Slashes across her wrist.
Blood soaked water.
Is their any way I could have prevented this?
She is ready to die.
And as a child I'm ready to cry.
Just make it stop.
Just make it stop.
Just make it stop.

Right The Wrong
An indian woman buried her grampa in the black hills
When she was young he used to tell her
That these hills belonged to her still
And even though injustice took them hills away
One day well get them back, he said
And the suns gonna shine that day
When we say, right the wrong
Before she laid him down to rest
She heard his voice in the wilderness
Sayin I got six feet of it back
And now we can right the wrong
Right the wrong
Hear the song
Before long u wont hear nothin but the crackle of flames
Right the wrong
Hear the song
Would u rather die knowing that u did or keep living in shame
Did you hear the one about the boy just 17
Three years hard time for stealing ice cream
First offence and all his dreams are gone
How long before they right the wrong?
Right the wrong
Hear the song
Before long u wont hear nothin but the crackle of flames
Right the wrong
Hear the song
Would u rather die knowing that u did or keep living in shame
Right the wrong
2, 3, uh
1, 2, 1-2, come on
(right the wrong baby)
Far be it from me to say
It seem like we could stop the flow of snow in the sky today
But I guess the weather man he likes the rain
Aint that insane
Now sing
Right the wrong
Hear the song
Before long u wont hear nothin but the crackle of flames
Right the wrong
Hear the song
Would u rather die knowing that u did or keep living in shame?
(come on, come on, come on)
Did you hear me baby?
Right the wrong
Im 6 feet in the grave
Im 6 feet in the grave
(right right, right right)
(right the wrong right the wrong)
(right the wrong right the wrong)
Right the wrong (right the wrong right the wrong)
(right the wrong right the wrong)
(right the wrong right the wrong)
(right the wrong right the wrong)
Right the wrong (right the wrong right the wrong)
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust (right the wrong right the wrong)
This young man with a talented soul (right the wrong right the wrong)
Died when he wanted 2. (right the wrong right the wrong)
The [life/light]that lives (right the wrong right the wrong)
So he shall not be pitied
Nor shall the guity be forgiven
Until they find it in their hearts to
Right the wrong

Breaking The Silence
They told me to run, but just how far?
Can I go wearing the black mask of fear?
The hate in my eyes always gives me away
The tension building slowly
Now I lost everything I had in you
Nothing we shared means a thing
Without you close to me
I cant live without you
Breaking the silence of the night
Cant you hear me screaming?
I look for your face in the neon light
You never answer me
Theres no direction to my stare
No more flame burning in my heart anymore
Quiet, I keep it to myself
Until the sun sets slowly
I hear your voice in the evening rain calling
Nothing will keep us apart
No more lies and fear
Theres no end to our story
Breaking the silence of the night
Cant you hear me screaming?
I look for your face in the neon light
You never answer
I could make all the wrong seem right
If you were by my side
Id gather all the tears you cried
And hide them deep underground
Cant look back, its just a waste of time
Cant erase this hate from my eyes
Breaking the silence of the night
Through the streets Im screaming
Looking for you in the neon light
Why dont you answer me?
Breaking the silence with my cries
Cant you hear me screaming?
We could make all this wrong seem right
But you never answer me
