Whose Faces, Whose Souls?

stripping layers of burnt skin
from lifeless bodies...
digging shallow ditches with tractors.
smoke filled silent skies.

the screams of the dying
swallowed up unheard...
the gods turn their heads,
and the trees that wept
are now on fire....

the stench of emptiness...
glass broken on the sands.
who sent the planes?
who pulled the triggers?
whose faces, whose souls?

My Only Memory Of You

Now you are gone
And I remember nothing from you-
Except for our nights filled with lust-
Filled with passion...
Perhaps all other memory has been swallowed into the emptiness-
From when our romance became a void-
Swallowing all sentiment...

I remember as I kissed you all over-
My breath ignited the fire,
Which lay dormant,
Inside your heart turned cold...

The silk of your naked skin,
Has burnt its mark-
As I gently caressed you all over
And I felt the fire's of your lust,
Drive me in my passion-
As your lust sought to overcome you-
With every electric charge I'd send through your body...

We would make love
And our flesh-
Our very beings would melt together,
In our flames-
Together we would dance
And sing-
In the silent depths of the night-
From dusk's twilight-
Till the light of sunrise...

For I while I could say that you were mine-
I once had you in my grasp-
My once beloved-
You were the most difficult to conquer-
I know that I loved you once-
Even when your love became lust-
But all that remains now,
Is the memory of when we were as one once-
My body on yours-
Together,
We merged in our flames once-
But fate tore us apart...

Now you are gone-
But those memories haunt me in my dreams-
Burnt into my subconscious-
Only in those moments I thought I felt your love-
Albeit it was only your lust-
You succumbed to your lust-
Steamy,
Violent silhouettes-
Breathless screams
And the sting of your nails on my skin-
The sheer bliss as we were consumed in the flames,
Of our desires-
Haunting me in my dreams...
I remember how once-
Only you could set me free-
Yet I remember nothing else-
Albeit I can say that I loved once
And I can say that I made love once...

A Pirate's Prayer

Marekd to be alone.
And my eyes are closed.
Drown and separate.
For sakes of discernment.
Walk with the broken pieces.
They do not say a word.
They speak not a word to the broken sea.
Not burnt by fire.
Or pulled by the flood.
They come to rest in crimson pools of blood.
Guided by the wind.
Not burnt by the fire.
Not pulled by the flood.
They come to rest (alone

Dragula

Dragula
Dead I am the one, exterminating son
Slipping through the trees, strangling the breeze
Dead I am the sky, watching angels cry
While they slowly turn, conquering the worm
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
Dead I am the pool, spreading from the fool
Weak and want you need, nowhere as you bleed
Dead I am the rat, feast upon the cat
Tender is the fur, dying as you purr
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
Do it baby, do it baby
Do it baby, do it baby
Burn like an animal
Dead I am the life, dig into the skin
Knuckle crack the bone, 21 to win
Dead I am the dog, hound of hell you cry
Devil on your back, I can never die
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
Do it baby, do it baby
Do it baby, do it baby
Burn like an animal
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches
I slam in the back of my
Dragula
Dig through the ditches,
Burn through the witches

Torture

I'm in the room without a light
The room without a view
I'm here for one more treacherous night
Another night with you
It tortures me to move my hands
To try to move at all
And pulled
My skin so tight it screams
And screams and screams
And pulls some more
Hanging like this
Like a vampire bat
Hanging like this
Hanging on your back
I'm helpless again
My body is cut and broken
It's shattered and sore
My body is cut wide open
I can't stand anymore
It tortures me to move my hands
To try to move at all
And pulled
My skin so tight screams
And screams and screams
And screams some more
Hanging like this
Like a vampire bat
Hanging like this hanging on your back
Oh it's torture
And i'm almost there
It's torture
But i'm almost there
It's torture
But i'm almost there
It's torture
But i'm almost there

Everything Is Broken

Broken lines, broken strings, broken threads, broken springs
Broken idols, broken heads, people sleeping in broken beds
Aint no use jivin, aint no use jokin
Everything is broken
Broken bottles, broken plates, broken switches, broken gates
Broken dishes, broken parts, streets are filled with broken hearts
Broken words never meant to be spoken
Everything is broken
Seems like every time you stop and turn around
Someone else has just hit the ground
Broken cutters, broken saws, broken buckles, broken laws
Broken bodies, broken bones, broken voices on broken phones
Take a deep breath, feel like youre chokin
Everything is broken
Every time you leave and go off some place
Things fall to pieces in my face
Broken hands on broken plows, broken treaties, broken vows
Broken pipes, broken tools, people bending broken rules
Hound dog howlin, bullfrog croakin
Everything is broken

On Crumpled Things

the brittle piece of chalk
crumples on the floor from the
hands of an angry teacher
her feet stamping upon
us, fragile and no longer
eager to learn
our first view on the violent
nature of those
monsters behaving
like gods

on crumpled things turning
into powder
in the same manner that
bodies turn
to ash
to dust

but must these gods know
inside those crumpled things and bodies
is the air that they have
not seen
the faces of our souls
passing through the storms and rain
rising to find for once
their homes in the sky

Glass Skin

Another epidermis, a glass skin,
Layers over your body and we are
Separated. You're sheltered deep within
Glass skin.

Your paneled eyes have been drifting thus far
From what I see. When did distance begin
To draw you from me and into that jar,

That crystalline casing? Where have you been?
Why can't I understand your avatar,
Your transparent screen as it holds you in
Glass skin?

Oblivion

thunder and lightning, gunfire,
the stench of death...
we race towards oblivion,
cant feel, cant get our breath!
drum beat and shadows,
lost in the blinding heat.
dead poets and childrens' bodies,
rubble beneath our feet.

smoke fills the air-
trees fall, rivers run dry.
fighting over a loaf of bread,
and the last bowl of rice.

ghoulish gasoline prophets
ring the bell, count the cost...
old people put out on the streets,
now all is over, all is lost.
forgotten faces lost in the roar,
demons dance on unmarked graves.
the bell of freedom rains down fire,
while we hide like fugitives in caves.

and the sound of the wheels,
louder and louder till we're deaf!
we take and burn and use
till nothing good is left

and the face of our hell
is just the face of our desires.
we turn away from those around us,
while our hunger feeds the fire.
thunder and lightning, gunfire,
the stench of death.
we race towards oblivion,
cant feel, cant even get our breath!

smoke fills the air,
trees fall, rivers run dry.
fighting over a loaf of bread,
and the last bowl of rice.

and the sound of the wheels,
louder and louder till we're deaf.

Where Is The Fire?

Where is the fire
That burnt in freedom fighters
Making them selfless
Dying for our independence

Where is the fire
That burnt in J.M and Ouko
And others who were felled
Making them love truth
For it, paying the ultimate price

Where is the fire
That burnt in the then leaders
Making them fearless
Suffering for multiparty politics

Where is the fire
That burnt in civil rights activists
The poor peoples defenders
And others who attended kamukunjis

Where is the fire
That burnt individualism
In dire times of crises

Where is the fire?

The Stain

they bury the bodies
in shallow graves....
never forgetting the faces

of hunger and need.
great planes flying overhead,
covered trucks on dusty roads.

soldiers with guns, blank stares,
cold as the oil in their veins....
the reporter speaks, eyes half lowered...

you turn off the tv,
and go to wash your hands...
but you cant wash away the stain!

Mater

There, within the dusty air.
Up there, millions of lights away,
Is where I heard an inconceivable pain that had
Never been uttered before.
Down there, between the shoulders of Jupiter and
Saturn is where the scream found me.
And when it did, it tore my heart to pieces and
Drained me of the empathy that I ever bestowed;
It surrounded me, ambushed me
And coiled around my soul and drained me…
Called upon me for my ever enduring sympathy.

There, where the fearless star shines rays of warmth and life,
Down there, I found a site that I had never set eyes upon.
A woman, naked, sat on a warm rock that burned blisters onto her tender flesh,
But she sat on it all the while; as if utterly oblivious.
Her hair was on fire and sent a cloud of smoke breathing through the sky.
Her screams turned into madness and
When I came closer, I found that it was Mater.
Her arms were chained by heavy hot cold chains that melted her flesh,
Causing every inch of her body to be flooded in blisters, blood, burning skin and puffs.

When she saw me, she began to scream even more wildly;
Turning from side to side and pointing at the beast that had imprisoned her.
The smoke rose even higher with each second and
The flames grew even more.
The Beast was rooting out her hair from every part of her body,
Digging through her flesh and setting her hair on fire.
The woman screamed, kicked
And begged for the mercy of the Beast.
But it kept on digging and cutting until some parts were dry and barren.

Near her heart, blood was exploding and
Running aimlessly in all directions due to the digging
And plowing that it flooded most of her skin.
Blood and water were as hot as the sun and
Melted her skin like butter instead of nourishing her dying body.
Her poor breast were being curved, cut and broken down into fine worthless dust.
Smoke in the air formed dark clouds riding black horses.
Riding to every part of the women's body, trapping and suffocating her.

High she stood, pleading, gasping for air and pleading,
Licking the beast's feet while screaming in pain.
With obliviousness and greed the beast burned
And plowed and sucked every life that was within her
And so her light grew dimmer
And the beast went hungry too.

Layers

You must consider that everything is layered

The earth has layers of air, water, soil, rock, fire to its
Core
Molten fire

A fruit has layers of an external cover
Something hard, then soft and a
Sometimes a hollow core

A cake has layers too of sugar coating
Moist cake
And chocolate
End layer

My body has layers of skin
Tissue, flesh, bone
And nerves and
Marrow
The core can be hollow

And the mind
The soul has layers of understanding
Layers and layers of consciousness
To sub consciousness
Ego superego
To a layer
Beyond our grasp

Tips of the tongues
Slippages
Déjà vu
Memory gaps
Did we meet somewhere?
Do I remember you?
These sorts of some things
That happen which we know we can explain yet we can’t

Something somewhere

Could be
What if
Was I there somewhere sometime?
She somehow touches me and I feel it
I don’t really remember when

That smile that you wear was the same smile I saw somewhere

Foggy places, opaque faces, vague bodies hugging us in dreams
Murky rivers bathing us hazy rains lazily sizing Zen in showers

Some windows in some house
Remaining close

My heart is light and it is flying like a little light bird on its first wing

There is always a sense of awe and wonder to everything that I do here

An onion peeling, layer by layer, tear by tear

Here. I am. Here I am becoming unfolding to another beginning

No entries and no exits
Off limits, nothing yet allowed.

Meanwhile I am breathing, smelling something somewhere.

Silent screams

Can you hear it?
The silent screams.
The screams that come from my hart.
My life was invaded.
And the pain lingers on.
It hurts God it really hurts.

The silent screams in my head.
I hear them but can you?
I hear them cos I'm screaming them.
But they are silenced by my fear.

Silent screams silent screams.
This is all I had when you did what you did.
Silent screams.
Emobolised by fear.
And overpowered by you.
I couldnt do a thing.
Except have silent screams.

Do You Care? Do You Care?

there are people dying everywhere,
do you care? do you care?
there are people hungry everywhere,
do you care? do you care?

gunshots, bomb drops,
thunder splits the sky.
preacher on the tv,
says you're gonna die.
patriots, deviants,
doors ripped off the hinge.
children eating fathers,
freedom on the fringe!

equality, dignity,
slam the prison doors.
bodies in the ditch,
aint nobody keeping score.
nuclear rain, cocaine,
oceans full of oil.
god died, the president lied,
coming to a boil.

there are people dying everywhere,
do you care? do you care?
there are people hungry everywhere,
do you care? do you care?

black skin, white skin,
grated till they bleed.
angry men without hope,
taking what they need.
well paid lies, cut the ties,
glass figures stand in line.
love screams, shattered dreams,
the blind lead the blind!

trees cut, doors shut,
food stamps and day old bread.
schools closed, books burned,
hear the cry of the dead.
injustice rages, guilty pages,
we reap what we have sowed.
this world on fire, with desire,
the truth the final code!

there are people dying everywhere,
do you care? do you care?
there are people hungry everywhere,
do you care? do you care?

we feel that hell in there
big smoke rising to

God smiles

Path Of Mirrors

They walk so close to you, yet so far away
Their eyes are lost, their faces fixed like stone
They walk behind the mirrors and here they shall stay
You walk with other souls liveng, breathing, yet for them they are alone

You walk through the hall way down the path of glass
You watch as they walk on into eternity, into the dark
They walk there behind the glass,
People around you going through leaving their mark.

They walk past your reflection as if you never saw
They walk through time as if time weren’t there
They know you would never aproach them
They know you would never dare.

They walk through the glass and look straight ahead,
They know nothing lies ahead, yet they know they can not turn back,
So they walk into nothing instead,
Passing you so all you see is their back.

You pause infront of the glass looking looking past,
You know that you shall not join them you know it is not your fate
You think about the footsteps you take, wondering which shall be your last,
You walk on again only thinking of their fate

Their faces emotionless the souls so cold,
You think of how you own skin feels, so warm,
You watch as the move like action figures made from a mold,
All the same, all waiting out the storm

The storm of life, the storm of death,
You walk along side them as they walk past everyone,
They watch ahead never turning, never looking above,
They turn to noone.

You walk along beside them as they take no notice to lifes dance,
They only walk past, walk through the mirrors of fate,
Kepping one great stance,
You watch people finding their fate.

Their faces so still, alone in the world, without hope
You watch them walk on, you watch them pass
You see their unmoving faces, as they walk up the endless slope
They walk along, behind the glass.

You turn to watch as their souls move on,
You reach out your hand to touch the glass,
Only to feel the glass is gone,
You watch as your hand passes through the glass.

As you hand melts through one by one the spirits turn,
One takes your hand and pulls your arm through,
More spirits feel your presence and more turn,
They watch as you melt through.

You watch your world leave as you leave it,
You have found you fate and not you are here along with them,
They walk on as you pull your body through, leaving behind the sweater of life you knit,
You have come and joined them.

You look back at the mirror to look at your face,
And you see your eyes becoming lost,
As you enter their race,
The race that shall never end, the race through eternity, for now you are lost

You skin feels so cold you face feels so hard,
You walk with them, as one
As you emotions turn hard,
In true time you are done.

You walk with them, walk alone
They walk so close to you, yet so far away
As everything becomes an endless drone,
For now you are here to stay.

Looking For Tornadoes... (Part Two)

and redemption tastes,
like an old book or our scrotum.
with nothing left behind,
to barter or trade.
standing naked before god,
without a thought of excuse...
bastard trees defiant,
curse the saw and the fire!

and small children whisper
to the trees and the stone.
men with colorless faces,
shovel the dirt.
young girls drunk on cheap wine,
shed a tear and fix their faces.
young soldiers lay down their guns,
and grin with silent understanding...

a moment, a brandy....
and one last smoke!
let babies be born,
let new fathers pace.
let the poor build a fire,
that costs nothing and gives all.
life dances with madness,
and lays down with goats!

I Walk Alone...

i am the last rebellion,
the fire you cannot control.
i am the faces of lost bodies,
names written in blood.
i am the call to battle,
armed by the heart.
i am the silence that knows,
the darkness that takes.
i am poverty's shadow,
and the language of need.
i am the anger of the beaten,
i am the field forsaken.
i am the tint of skin,
and the color of the eyes....
the song of the shovel and whip.
i am the bones of the old ones,
shaking with rage.
the tears of the grandmothers,
the dirty hands of small children.
i am the soldier imprisoned,
on the streets of despair.
i am the conscience of the murderer,
that haunts the night.
i am the bodies of lovers,
glistening with passion.
i am the child born,
neath a sky with no star.
i am the crucifix and prayer beads,
the hymn known only by trees.
i am the dog abandoned,
rain falling without remorse.
i am the monk self-immoliated,
the cry for freedom unheard.
i am human dignity,
and i walk alone!
