We Speak Of Liberation
we speak of liberation and shudder...
yet birds leave the nest for the last time
without so much as a tear.
trees shed their leaves
without falling to their knees.
rivers run for the sake of running.
the wind comes from nowhere,
bound for nowhere...
never murmurs or complains.
the snail crawls into infinity,
leaving only a trail for the sake of memory.
our grandparents long dead,
still speak to us in our dreams.
and the ocean that twas our mother,
is at peace that we have gone.
as god crawls out of the box,
that we put our name on...
much as clouds wink without a face.
what is there to be afraid of?
we are so much more than what we've lost!

Young Poets
You speak for the lakes, the trees and the birds
You say what they'd say if they had the words.
Make PEACE and be proud, choose well every choice
Speak HOPE and speak loud, you are Nature's voice.
Speak with respect now, for jungles and streams,
Speak for all wildlife and dream giant dreams.
Speak with great courage, speak up and speak out,
Write with a whisper or write with a SHOUT!
Stand up young poets for clean air and rivers,
Free verse or lyric; your message delivers...
Truth to the future citizens of earth,
Speak of your freedom your friends and self worth.
Speak for tomorrow and though you're still young,
Speak for the Forest, your pen is her tongue.
The world waits to hear your songs still unsung
Words posses power, you can write the wrongs
Teach us and lead us with Poems and with songs.
Speak now for nature, for trees and for birds,
Defenders of Earth choose carefullly your words!

Broken rain clouds,
pink like her lips
full wet, and
blue sky with
tunes out the back of her pickup
in the wind and the rain clouds
are moving cross reasons to leave.
Turning ‘round, lookin' back
as the wind scares the birds
through the air like shed tears,
her foot on the throttle
leaves a long muddy trail.

For My Peers Who Made It Good In The Big City
it was with a sad heart that i left all of you
from that big city that promised to give me all the glitter
of the neon lights
an island of fame where my body
and my face shall take
the center of the stage
where i may wallow in the deafening
sound of clapping hands
and a shower of flowers
as i sing and dance
and be the star of all your
dreams and wishes
i am twisted
you all write me a letter
i am hardheaded
you condemn me for i broke the promise
of what i could have been
i choose the little town by the sea
where the waves all speak of sorrow
where the trees grow unprecedented and without pruning
the ugliness of their branches speak of ill-will and
pronounced unfashionably
nature's untrammeled simplicity
the newspapers speak of your breakthroughs
all your names in bold letters and colored
your cars and mansions your latest creations
your glory and victories
my day begins in silence and it ends in silence
i sleep with nightmares i talk my walks at midnights
how can i be so stupid? all the leaves ask me, and all the trees
when i begin to speak, run barefoot away from me
the eggs of little birds on the nest on branches falling and broken and wasted

One summer when the wind was strong
This is the place, now we are here again
I remember that summer when the wind was strong
And everything around us was dry,
The acacia trees towered and showered us with
Round leaves falling and falling and falling
Some birds were there and they flew away
Some cars were there and they speeded away
It was getting dark and it was a dry summer
We stayed there for a while when the leaves fell
Then we went under the trees not seeking shelter
But to catch those leaves falling and falling and falling
We are trying to feel again what falling was
We are here on this summer, we see the leaves
Falling and falling again to the dry wind,
We try to recall about us, but there is simply
Nothing about us anymore, but just the same
The leaves fall and fall and fall, we see them reenacting
There is that meaning; there it is in the falling
But we have outgrown it, we look for more, we hope
We can find some more, something beyond us.

But Your Name....
who are we then to linger?
the pine needle bed turned brown.
the sky filled with emptiness,
where wings once sang in glory.
the mountain path deserted now,
footprints borne away by the wind.
as time exacts its heavy due,
leaving nothing as if a gift.
we who dared to speak of love,
who drank deeply with abandon.
who lit the candle as if it would last,
who dared the darkness to answer.
who kissed neath moonlit trees,
and danced till we were drunk.
who made love as if we owned the clock,
as if the leaves would never turn.
do you remember? lest we forget,
what was done, what was the cost!
when rivers flowed on summer's eve,
and the mockingbird naked prayed.
when wars were fought and lives were given,
and old women wept for they knew.
while the child slept in a dresser drawer,
and the dog bayed at the wind.
now passion curled in the stump of the tree,
the axe takes with head bowed low.
the trail of lovers sap gone dry,
on the bare belly of infinity.
the owl struck mute leaves the night,
with only the sound the wind betrays.
tis not god nor judgement but your name,
that pens damnation on salvation's breast!

Speak The Word
Unsettled hearts
Promise what they cant deliver
Bring me the wine
And the cold night air to clear my head
Gray matter memory house
Master of this trembling flesh
Steady still my doubts
Let me speak the word that precedes bliss
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
Love love love love love love love love
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
Love love love love love love love love
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
These weakened knees
Have not touched ground or pew in ages
I havent bowed my head
I offer thanks to any God or to ask for favors
But watch me now
Im falling down
Praying
To speak the word that precedes bliss
To speak the word
To speak the word
Love love love love love love love love
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
Love love love love love love love love
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word

Afraid To Sleep
We slept in this room together but now youre gone
And its so quiet I turn the tv on
We lived in this room together we painted the walls
Now time doesnt stand still
It crawls
And Im afraid to sleep
Cuz if I do I dream of you
And dreams are always deep
On the pillow where I weep
I never realized how much I was in love with you
Until you started sleeping with someone new
Last night I dreamed again and you were there
You kissed my face you touched my hair
And Im afraid to sleep
Cuz if I do I dream of you
And dreams are always deep
On the pillow where I weep
Lying alone in the darkness with a memory in my head
Theres a big hole where my heart is
And a lonely feeling rollin round my bed
And Im afraid to sleep
Cuz if I do I dream of you
Im afraid to sleep
Cuz if I do I dream of you
And dreams are always deep
On the pillow where I weep
On the pillow where I weep
Im afraid to sleep.

Moses The Prophet
Moses
The Prophet
Of Jews
And mine
As well
See
What is going on
In the Holy land
People are fighting
Blood of Man
Is shed
Here and there
Children
Birds
& trees
Are killed
Are killed
And every blood
Is shed
Is shed
Please
Speak to them
This is your land as well
Speak to them
All of them
To stop
Blood shed
To stop
killing children
Say sorry to God
& live in peace
Live In Peace.

Can I Have A Kiss (For Old Times' Sake)?
Oh oh, mmm-mmm
do do doo oh oh
Start off with a hug
Lead into embrace
Oh, girl, I'm glad to see you
Oh, face-to-face
Not a day of age
Oh, and by the way
I forgot to say
How much I missed you, baby
And just like deja vu, I say
Running into you this way
I want to keep you here
I got to have you near
Can I have a kiss from you (Can i have a kiss from you)
For old times' sake (oh baby)
Can I have a kiss from you (Can i have a kiss from you)
Can I have a kiss from you (Can i have a kiss from you)
For old times' sake(oh,oh)
It's been a long time
Since I've called you mine
Sure would like to see us
Back together like we used to be
So let me take you out
So much to talk about
Like things we used to share
And how to get it back my dear
Just like deja vu, I say
Running into you this way
I want to keep you here
I got to have you near
Can I have a kiss from you (Can i have a kiss from you)
For old times' sake (oh baby)
Can I have a kiss from you (Can i have a kiss from you)
Can I have a kiss from you (Can i have a kiss from you)
For old times' sake(oh,oh)
Oh yeah well yeah well well
Well well well can I can I can I can I
No no no no no
Can I have a kiss baby
I need it oh want it
And just like deja vu, I say
Running into you this way
I want to keep you here
I got to have you near

I'm Lost Without You
I swear that I can go on forever again
Please let me know that my one bad day will end
I will go down as your lover, your friend
Give me your lips and with one kiss we begin
Are you afraid of being alone
Cause I am, I'm lost without you
Are you afraid of leaving tonight
Cause I am, I'm lost without you
I'll leave my room open till sunrise for you
I'll keep my eyes patiently focused on you
Where are you now I can hear footsteps I'm dreaming
And if you will, keep me from waking to believe this
Are you afraid of being alone
Cause I am, I'm lost without you
Are you afraid of leaving tonight
Cause I am, I'm lost without you
Are you afraid of being alone
Cause I am, I'm lost without you
Are you afraid of leaving tonight
Cause I am, I'm lost without you
Are you afraid of being alone
Cause I am, I'm lost without you
Are you afraid of leaving tonight
Cause I am, I'm lost without you
I'm lost without you
I'm lost without you

crawls
like a lizard;
frightens.
Sometimes after,
in a shock
falls back.
Runs away
leaving behind
a trembling trail.

To The Six Furies Of My Mind...
we,
who are being attacked by
the Five Furies
mine now Six
have no other possible defense
to protect
our minds
but to write these lines
so do not ask me
why i am writing th
ese
i am being chased
and so i am running away
i have to run away still
because i am being chased like wind to another wind
like nothing
to another nothing
i am
perhaps still afraid of
the death of my
mind
the death of the wind
the trees will die too
the fireflies turn off their lights
the birds fall down the trees
i, who want
to still think and think to think some more
has no other option
i write
to make the Six Furies know
that i also know how to protect myself
that i am
a survivor
i do not speak here
but the Six Furies must stop a while and hear
they must listen
lest they shall die in their own noise
like fire on their long hair
i make
my plea,
i am guilty, i am guilty
i know i am guilty of all the lies and deceit
but give me more time please
to choose
a happy
death.

For Old Times Sake
Lets make love for old times sake.
Lets set right an old mistake.
Lets invite our hearts to break.
Its right tonight, but just for old times sake.
Remember you as mars, and me as venus.
Strange to see the grey in your hair.
And now to feel a peace so deep between us,
And to realize that we still care.
Lets make love for old times sake.
Lets set right an old mistake.
Lets invite our hearts to break.
Its right tonight, but just for old times sake.
I used to think we would wind up together,
Our destinies always entwined.
Oh, but your heart kept changing like the weather,
And you wound up leaving me behind.
Lets make love for old times sake.
Lets set right an old mistake.
Lets invite our hearts to break.
Its right tonight, but just for old times sake.
Lets make love for old times sake.
Lets set right an old mistake.
Lets invite our hearts to break.
Its right tonight, but just for old times sake.
Its right tonight, yeah,
But just for old times sake...
Its right tonight for old times sake.
For old times sake.
Old times sake...

Art For Art's Sake
it is art for art's sake
nothing more nothing less
shy away from popularity
delve on the magnanimity of
your day to day task
this art for art's sake
like scribbling for nothing
just scribbling and scribbling
like hearing and then writing
brown leaves fall upon
brown leaves on the ground
over the roots of trees
decay comes like everything
destined to be rotten
and then you sleep on some
cool shade
smelling the flavor of your
silent labor
art for art's sake
who needs your rating?
art for art's sake is like breathing
getting in your lungs
what is invisible to the eye
and yet so essential
the inevitable and the inextricable
the ineluctable the inexorable
it is like taking all the entrances
and then accepting
that there are no exits

I Believe
The sky can lie and betray as any person can invade
The space that is my own and a sunny day so they say
Today would be, although
I believe I felt raindrops touching my naked arms-It is the New Year and
I don’t want tears falling from my eyes
As they did the first day of
Last year and every year before me-
I wept because I believed that God had forsaken me,
Brought me into a world which was not safe for me to live in-
I am lost in the woods but not as lost
As I am in the city surrounding-
Upon this sunny and rainy day- the people who
Dwell in this planet earth I do not trust-
These people are walking behind me
Only to steal away my dreams-
I cannot ignore their sinister glances-
Upon the face of a coin it says
“In God we trust” and that is just
One more untruth and I once believed there was a god and
I was a saint- now I am a pauper who is alone
In this world not believing a word that has been spoken-
“I am a believer, ” so are the words to a popular song-
I only believe in my own thoughts and the voices
That speak to me from my mind and
I only feel while my own heart beats-
Nobody hears these voices or my heart beating
Out of control- the rain is falling hard now-
I have been deceived and it is a new year again
God wipe away my tears, I don’t care to always be the enemy-
I hear birds chanting and wind blowing the leaves upon the trees-
Unwelcome footsteps behind me are closing in-
I have a spirit that dances in the wind, therefore
It hardly matters anymore that I was born into this world that
Is a fraudulent place- I can run marathons and other people’s minds
Have become my literature- I have faith in my thoughts and
I can carry on with a tune- “I am a believer”- and as long as
I believe in my own strength and my spirit keeps on dancing,
Knowing someday my dreams shall become alive and the sun?
The sun is hidden in the clouds and the rain just keeps on falling but
It is the rain that gives me water so I will not be thirsty and it is
That rain- that washes my tears away-

I Shall Speak
I shall speak of rivers
and I shall speak of streams,
And I shall speak of how they flow
and seep into my dreams.
All the waters pure and clean
purify my thought.
I think how marvelous that I've seen
that which can't be bought.
I shall speak of hillsides
and mountains as they rise.
And I shall speak of how they look
and brighten up my eyes.
All the rises grand or small
expand just how I feel.
I think how wonderful that I've known
what no one can conceal.
I shall speak of beauty
and I shall speak of love.
And I shall speak of how they mix
and take me far above
the ordinary happenings
and events that fill my day.
I think how fortunate I have been
when my breath was taken away.

Paths Of Glory
You squirt out red and turn so yellow
And then you made me kill my own
Im not afraid (coming, coming,...)
But Im afraid (coming, coming,...)
(chorus)
Blood in your eyes again
Bravery, the face of man
Blood on your mind again
Chivalry, the face of man
Blood in your lies again
Enemy, the face of man
Blood in your eyes again
Again, again, again
Is this the only path of glory?
If so, then I wont go along
Follow the trail (running, running,...)
Follow the trail (running, running,...)
(repeat chorus)
Again (x 21)
Im not afraid
But Im afraid
Im not afraid
But Im afraid

One Kiss For Old Time Sake
One kiss for old time sake
before you go away.
One kiss for old time sake
before you leave today.
My heart is beating sadly
knowing our days are through.
Nothing that I say
will stop you going away.
So before you open the door
give me
one kiss for old time sake
before you walk away.
Just one kiss for old time sake
before you say goodbye and go.

Tongue
Call my name, here I come.
90 to nothing, watch me run.
You call.
I am ashamed to say.
Ugly girls know their fate.
Anybody can get laid.
You want a room with a fire escape.
I want to tell you how much I hate this.
Dont leave that stuff all over me. it pains me.
Please just leave it.
I should toss that vanity license plate.
Toss that make-up painted face.
Box those poems, chocolate cake.
Scratch that name on the record player.
Please just leave me be.
Dont lay that stuff all over me.
It crawls all over. all over me.
Call my name, here I come.
Your last ditch lay, will I never learn?
Caramel turn on a dusty apology.
It crawls all over me.
You turn all over.
It pains me.
Please just leave it.

The Exposed Nest
You were forever finding some new play.
So when I saw you down on hands and knees
I the meadow, busy with the new-cut hay,
Trying, I thought, to set it up on end,
I went to show you how to make it stay,
If that was your idea, against the breeze,
And, if you asked me, even help pretend
To make it root again and grow afresh.
But 'twas no make-believe with you today,
Nor was the grass itself your real concern,
Though I found your hand full of wilted fern,
Steel-bright June-grass, and blackening heads of clovers.
'Twas a nest full of young birds on the ground
The cutter-bar had just gone champing over
(Miraculously without tasking flesh)
And left defenseless to the heat and light.
You wanted to restore them to their right
Of something interposed between their sight
And too much world at once--could means be found.
The way the nest-full every time we stirred
Stood up to us as to a mother-bird
Whose coming home has been too long deferred,
Made me ask would the mother-bird return
And care for them in such a change of scene
And might out meddling make her more afraid.
That was a thing we could not wait to learn.
We saw the risk we took in doing good,
But dared not spare to do the best we could
Though harm should come of it; so built the screen
You had begun, and gave them back their shade.
All this to prove we cared. Why is there then
No more to tell? We turned to other things.
I haven't any memory--have you?--
Of ever coming to the place again
To see if the birds lived the first night through,
And so at last to learn to use their wings.
