which is more threatening? the cost of war? or the cost of feeding
the hungry, healing the sick, and housing the homeless?

Modern Christian Thought...

it is both the absurdity and the convenience
of modern Christian thought that bewilders me...
the idea that one can place all his/her mistakes
and wrong doings on the shoulders of one man
crucified 2000 years ago, and be totally absolved
of any responsibility...
that with a few prayers and an offering, we are
absolved from the responsibility for feeding the hungry,
housing the homeless, healing t...he sick...
have we not missed the point of the teaching?
does 'Follow Me' not denote just that?
follow, do as he did, live as he lived.
feed the hungry, house the homeless, heal the sick!
get down in the ditches with the common and poor.
do we not each have our own cross to carry?
our own Golgotha... our own crucifixion?
for our sins, and for humanity's sins... the greatest of
which is indifference!
not condemnation, but compassion!
not being set apart, but part of!
is forgiveness not an action? ....
the action of being human!

The Battle.... (We Have Fought)

the battle we have fought for so long,
as a 'free' society...
in the name of justice, equality, diversity,
responsibility, and freedom...
has reached the point of decision.
we either move forward no matter
what the cost...
believing the dream is worth the price...
or we crawl back into the cave
of self-fulfillment at the cost of all others.
prejudice and discrimination have gone from color
to religion to sex and sexual orientation,
and now to those enslaved by poverty.
we cannot turn our backs on each other...
we cannot allow the few to destroy the world.
we are responsible, we are a part of each other.
when one is hungry, we are all hungry.
when one family is homeless, we are all homeless.
when one person is a victim
of prejudice, hatred, and injustice...
we all are!
when one eats, all should eat.
when one has a chance to work,
all should have that chance...
when one child gets an education,
all should have that right.
this is the time, and this is the place...
it is now that we must choose!

THE COST...by Talile Ali

V1
ALWAYS AVOIDED FAME
AFRAID TO PAY THE COST
LOSS OF FAMILY
FRIEND'S WHO ALL ARE LOST

THERE IS NO DENYING
THE NEED TO SERVE IS STRONG
THE COST OF SERVICE EXPENSIVE
THAT'S NOT TO SAY IT'S WRONG

CHORUS
BUT IT'S THE COST
IT'S THE COST
GOTTA PAY THE PIPER
OR ELSE YOU'LL BE TOSSED
IT'S THE COST

V2
LOVE IS PLAIN AND SIMPLE
HEART IS STRONG AND TRUE
EPIPHANIES ARE FLOWING
WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU

SO I WRITE AND PERFORM
AND YOU SEE MY NEED
TO DO THIS HERE SERVICE
FOR EVERYONE'S THAT'S PLEASED

JAM FOR 24 BARS

CHORUS
BUT IT'S THE COST
IT'S THE COST
GOTTA PAY THE PIPER
OR ELSE YOU'LL BE TOSSED
IT'S THE COST

FADE OUT

Cost-benefit analysis

Any government economic project
Should involve cost-benefit analysis
Before implementation.

Calculation of cost must involve
Market survey cost, establishment cost, labor cost
Production cost, marketing cost and so forth.

Calculation of benefit must include
Financial benefit, social benefit
Political benefit and so on.

The governments should take into account
Whether there is skilled manpower
In the country to run the project or not?

They should also consider
The possibility of change
Of technology to be used
In near future in other countries.

Thus the viability of the project
Can be justified before implementation
In order to avoid wastage of money and time.

More Affordable

which is more affordable,
more cost efficient?
to grow corn and potatoes,
or manufacture guns and ammo?
to make the medicine that heals,
or to invade other countries?
to build housing for the homeless,
or to prop up banks that fail?
to help addicts get clean,
or build more prisons?
to change the system,
or to watch it fall?

How Much Would It Cost?

nearly 1.3 trillion
in war costs so far....

how much would it cost
to feed the hungry,
and house the homeless
around the world?

which makes more sense?
which builds a better future?

bombs or bowls?
..... bullets or shelter?
......... death, or life?

For too long, our country's version of an energy policy has consisted of Americans waking up every day and wondering how much it will cost to drive to work, how much it will cost to keep their business running, how much it will cost to heat or cool their homes.

Intuitive vs cognitive thinking

A bat and a ball cost a dollar ten
The bat cost one dollar more than the ball.
Pray tell, how much does the ball cost?
How quickly the answer seems to fall!

If, like most, you said ten cents
You’re lazy and prone not to think (as am I)
For the correct answer, be not
ten cents my friend (no lie!)
For you I most certainly would not jive

If you think, more than a few blinks
You’ll see your answer stinks
For the cost of the ball is not ten cents at all
But at the cost of some thinking…
Is five!

Warmth Into Frost

When you ignore your Heart
all that you do will never be enough
When we don't pay attention
to the wordless thoughts
it ain't so tough
to get caught up
and latch onto irrelevent stuff
...and what's the cost - what's the cost?

When you're playin' high stakes
Gambling with Fakes
and the world takes
your Warmth that burns
and turns it cold
like a Frost...What's the cost?

What's the cost
when
it couldn't be clearer
that the one in the mirror
is lost...?

IS ALL THE WORLD'S WARMTH
SLOWLY TURNING TO FROST? ?

If One.....

if one word
could change the world,
i'd say it,
and go home.
if one action
would stop the wars,
i'd do it,
whatever the cost.
if one intent
could change the way
we see each other,
i'd follow it
to my grave.
if one desire
could feed the hungry,
it would be,
my only desire!
if one life
would pay the cost,
that brings freedom,
and equality to all...
i'd pay the price today!

The Next Step

will my next step
help feed the hungry?
heal the sick?
give solace to the lonely?
find housing for the homeless?
help save the rain forests?
help save mountains and rivers
for my children's children?
stop the killing of whales?
the killing of women and children?
help eradicate prejudice?
stand for freedom and dignity?
bring hope to the hopeless?

well... will it?

On 'One' Memorial Day

Blessed I am,
To be given the talent to write.
And be able to have public websites,
To voice the plight of those who are veterans.
Those who put their lives on the line,
To find themselves totally disrespected...
By those they defend.

Veterans completing their tours of duty,
Should not find themselves hungry, homeless...
And without jobs.
To support themselves, families...
Or others who are lost dependent upon them.

Blessed I am,
And as a veteran to say...
Being brave and patriotic does not always pay.
And even though celebrations held,
On 'one' Memorial Day...
Our veterans should be praised,
For giving their lives away EVERYDAY...
To the benefit of feeding the greed,
Of those whose selfish ways...
They courageously appease.

Dedicated:
To ALL my brothers and sisters who have 'donated' their lives,
Liberties and the cost of their own freedoms...
So those unappreciative could feed upon their 'entitlements'.

Caught Up In a Mess

What amazes is the feeding of the greed.
And the heat from the people raging,
That a payback is not needed.
Some say...
Accusations cause sensations deceived.
And we are caught up in a mess,
That is not cost effective.

Well, well...
What amazes is the feeding of the greed.
And the heat from the people raging,
That a payback is not needed.
Some say...
Accusations cause sensations deceived.
And we are caught up in a mess,
That is not cost effective.

Well, well...
We've been affected.
Well, well...
And disconnected.
Well, well...
From a secret kept,
Discreet and much deceiving.

Well, well...
We've been affected.
Well, well...
And disconnected.
Well, well...
From secrets kept,
Now destroying democracy.

What amazes is the feeding of the greed.
And the heat from the people raging,
That a payback is not needed.
Some say...
Accusations cause sensations deceived.
And we are caught up in a mess,
That is not cost effective.

Well, well...
No benefit comes to visit and stay.
And we are turned away,
From those questions we want answered.

Well, well...
We've been affected.
Well, well...
And disconnected.
Well, well...
From secrets kept,
Now destroying democracy.

Well, well...
It just amazes.
Well, well...
More are not crazed.
Well, well...
It seems we're closer,
To those final days.

Well, well...
What amazes is the feeding of the greed.
And the heat from the people raging,
That a payback is not needed.
Some say...
Accusations cause sensations deceived.
And we are caught up in a mess,
That is not cost effective.

Freedom Is Never Free

They tell me
'Freedom is never free.'
I know that-
More than most realize.
Freedom cost us more
Than we should have to give.
Freedom cost us blood.
It cost us the lives
Of our fathers,
Our sons,
Our brothers.
But while freedom is never free,
Remember-
It has been bought at great price,
And so is a thing of great value.
We must defend it,
From those who would take it away.
The defense of our freedoms
Will cost us-
More than we wish to pay.
But we must pay, to defend,
For if we try to make freedom free,
We forget-
True freedom is never free.

Food Awareness

when you go to the store
and buy food... do you think
about:
1. where it came from
2. where and how it was grown.
3. what kinds of seeds and fertilizers
...were used...
4. what kinds of pesticides were sprayed.
5. who worked the fields
6. how were they treated, how were they paid
7. who drove the trucks who hauled it
8. how much fuel was used, at what cost
(both in dollars and lives)
9 who stocked the shelves, and rang you up
10. are they paid enough to live on
11. how much electricity and/or gas
....did you use to prepare it, and
....at what cost
12. when you eat it do you think about how
....many of your neighbors are hungry
13. when you throw out the scraps do you think
....about how many children are starving...
....do you see their faces?

On Which Side Of Hypocrisy Do You Reside?

It has been exposed.
Why can't you face it?

Those disenfranchised,
Did not create or cause your current dilemma.
Neither did the homeless, the hungry...
Or those confined to live in inner cities,
Have a wish to live lives like this.

Those illiterate and ignorant,
Did not choose to isolate themselves.
Or chose to be abandoned with needs,
By those who created for themselves jobs...
Feeding delusions as they depleted identities.

No one effectively suppressed,
Invent fear or the aspects of threats.
Or control the media!
Be it TV, movies or the printed press.

No one you have selected to character assassinate,
Defame to shame or intentionally oppress...
Had any influence over your decisions,
You made with a narrow mindedness.

It has been your way of life...
That has produced dire effects.
And yet you protest against the rise of wickedness?
With deeds done that deceive,
Has not made any of this cost effective.
In fact,
Isn't your reality being financed by creditors,
You are deeply indebted to...
Overseas?
And you want to treat me the way you've done?

On which side of hypocrisy do you reside?
