Shadows (Forgotten Day)

the scrape of the razor
against his shadow dreams;
voices on the tip
of the tongue of his thoughts....

the smell of ashes and sulpher...
the imprint of a rose petal
in his palm.... bare limbed trees,
and it's not even winter.

in the shadow of the mountain
that he couldnt quite climb....
great black birds swoop the skies
that almost touch forever.

scriptures written with sticks
in the soft clay of the creek bank....
spider's webs, dead frogs, and
the whimper water makes

when no one hears....
just a shadow in the shadows,
a dead branch tinged with moss....
a mistake God made on

a forgotten day!

Shadow Of The West

Written by lindsey buckingham.
Dancing ever changing desert sand
I was burned by the touch of her hand
The setting of the sun scares me to death
Im a shadow
Shadow
Shadow of the west
Once upon a time I was strong and proud
Everything that the law would allow
But more and more
I feel less and less
Im a shadow
Shadow
Shadow of the west
Memories like shadows scorched in the sand
Im alone, a lonely man
The setting of the sun scares me to death
Im a shadow

Hello Shadows

Shadows imitate every thing in life
But it does not argue, fuss, or fight
And can be changed by the reflection of light
Your shadow will imitate everything that you do
For that shadow belongs to you.

The shadow of an object can
hide you from the sun
Not just you but every one.

Shadows have but one color (black)
And it is not belittled or put down
But accepted by all you see
Which makes it one of gods mysteries.

It can be seen in the sunlight
But not in the dark
It can even be seen with artificial light
And the kids have fun with it
Man! What a sight.

It has no face to show emotions
And it will always be by your side
Although at times it must hide.
The sun can not touch it, as it stares up at you
This is something the sun can not do.

The shadow will walk in front of you
Or in back, or walk on your sides
But will always be there wherever you go
For it is something that we all know
And to my shadow I say “hello”.

My Shadow

Hey there shadow
What's it feel like to be the shadow of me?

Following me around
Head facing down

Got no way of saying
Exactly how you're feeling

In the dark, all the time
What's on your mind?

The shadow
Shadow of me

You're the only one
Who does exactly as i do

Capture every movement
Memorise my fear

You're forever here
By my side

The shadow
Shadow of me

His Shadow

When I was young
the shadow he cast was long.
When I was afraid.
In his shadow I could be brave.

Walking together
watching his shadow by mine.
I yearned for the time
like his my shadow would be long.

As the fledgling finally
flies alone from the nest.
To step away from his shadow
my time came.

One day long after
my child at my side.
Two shadows I saw.
One long joined one small.

In my thoughts
I reflected to when
the longer shadow.
My father cast.

I realized
the time had come.
The father's shadow
now my shadow.

Man Watches And Sees

Man watches you hide behind
your shadow.
Why do you think you need to
to hide?

No man should want to hide
along side or behind his
shadow.

Stand up and show your
face to man.

Your life will still travel on.
And your shadow, will
follow behind.

No shadow can stay still
even at your will.

You are, your shadow of you..
You'll always travel together
It'll be forever.

No man can travel without
his shadow.
As long as there is light
from earth or man made.

Then you will always travel along
with your shadow

As I Grew Older

It was a long time ago.
I have almost forgotten my dream.
But it was there then,
In front of me,
Bright like a sun--
My dream.
And then the wall rose,
Rose slowly,
Slowly,
Between me and my dream.
Rose until it touched the sky--
The wall.
Shadow.
I am black.
I lie down in the shadow.
No longer the light of my dream before me,
Above me.
Only the thick wall.
Only the shadow.
My hands!
My dark hands!
Break through the wall!
Find my dream!
Help me to shatter this darkness,
To smash this night,
To break this shadow
Into a thousand lights of sun,
Into a thousand whirling dreams
Of sun!

Shadow Me

Shadow me oh my
Dark emotion.
Shadow me all the way!

Shadow me to rock
In cradle heart,
To sway and just to sway!

Shadow me as a
Shady love tree,
In my hot, scorching day!

Shadow me must in,
Middle of night,
Like a gleaming pure ray!

Shadow me, shadow,
My foggy love,
Shadow wild me to tame.

Shadow to follow
My every step,
Shadow me in each poem!

The Banyan Tree

O you shaggy-headed banyan tree standing on the bank of the pond,
have you forgotten the little chile, like the birds that have
nested in your branches and left you?
Do you not remember how he sat at the window and wondered at
the tangle of your roots and plunged underground?
The women would come to fill their jars in the pond, and your
huge black shadow would wriggle on the water like sleep struggling
to wake up.
Sunlight danced on the ripples like restless tiny shuttles
weaving golden tapestry.
Two ducks swam by the weedy margin above their shadows, and
the child would sit still and think.
He longed to be the wind and blow through your resting
branches, to be your shadow and lengthen with the day on the water,
to be a bird and perch on your topmost twig, and to float like
those ducks among the weeds and shadows.

A Red Rose

a red rose
casts a shadow
on a white
canvass

light strikes
on the body of
its redness
and the greenness of
its leaves

this red rose is
for you
give it the light
so i may cast
a shadow of myself
to you

when you touch
it
the rose begins
to live
another span of
love

it becomes an
inspiration of dreams
which are about
to die
of love that is
about to be
forgotten.

Whithin Another Man's Shadow

Is not the same
To be in the Shadow,
Than to be the Shadow itself…
For you can move away from the Shadow
Towards the light
But, the shadows could not do
The same,
For it no longer will be the shadow…

Now it is painful and hard for me
To convince myself
That it is NOT what I thought
It could be…
Worse than anything else,
Is to share another man's shadow..
Why should I pay for another man's sins?
It wouldn't be right
And I don't deserve it..

Now I realize,
That everything was just a game
With the shadow and the light
And I caught in between…

Now, obviously, one path remains
For me to take:
The light anytime,
Then,
Definitely I will be
A free Man…
However, wondering
who my shadow
One day may be?
Since you are
Already somebody's else...

Debussy

My shadow glides in silence
over the watercourse.

On account of my shadow
the frogs are deprived of stars.

The shadow sends my body
reflections of quiet things.

My shadow moves like a huge
violet-colored mosquito.

A hundred crickets are trying
to gild the glow of the reeds.

A glow arises in my breast,
the one mirrored in the water.

Shadow Of The Sun

Once upon a time
I was on a mind to lay your burden down
And leave you where you stood
You believed I could
Youd seen it done before
I could read your thoughts
And tell you what you saw
And never say a word
But now that is gone
Over with and done
And never to return
I can tell you why
People die alone
I can tell you why
The shadow on the sun
Staring at the loss
Looking for the cause
And never really sure
Nothing but a hole
To live without a soul
And nothing to be learned
I can tell you why
People go insane
I can show you how
You could do the same
I can tell you why
The end will never come
I can tell you on
The shadow on the sun
Shapes of every size
Move behind my eyes
Doors inside my head
Bolted from within
Every drop of flame
Lights a candle in
Memory of the one
Who lived inside my skin
I can tell you why
People go insane
I can show you how
You could do the same
I can tell you why
The end will never come
I can tell you on
The shadow on the sun
Shadow on the sun
Shadow on the sun
Shadow on the sun
Shadow on the sun
Shadow on the sun
Shadow on the sun

Night Poem

There is nothing to be afraid of,
it is only the wind
changing to the east, it is only
your father the thunder
your mother the rain

In this country of water
with its beige moon damp as a mushroom,
its drowned stumps and long birds
that swim, where the moss grows
on all sides of the trees
and your shadow is not your shadow
but your reflection,

your true parents disappear
when the curtain covers your door.
We are the others,
the ones from under the lake
who stand silently beside your bed
with our heads of darkness.
We have come to cover you
with red wool,
with our tears and distant whipers.

You rock in the rain's arms
the chilly ark of your sleep,
while we wait, your night
father and mother
with our cold hands and dead flashlight,
knowing we are only
the wavering shadows thrown
by one candle, in this echo
you will hear twenty years later.

Shadow

I am a shadow;
I dance in rhythm with the changing of the seasons.
As the rain falls, I weep.
I become sky lightening as a storm approaches.
I fight with thunder in an approaching squall.
I rage war with the fury of the wind-
With the locusts, I scream.
The creek’s water rushes over its banks, and
As torrential rains inundate its surface,
I am the shadow that is reflected in the pond, into where the
Creek empties, then sighs- as the
Storm subsides.
I am that shadow, motionless, but angry.
I am a shadow lost in the wild-
I follow the deer-
They do not fear me-
I am silent and cautious but wrathful.
No one can envision the flame that sears my soul- as
My rage smolders.
My shadow is the inner child living within me that
Plays a game with the brushfire that blazes in the forest,
That shadow that blends with the darkness as the
Sun sets, and with the rising of the moon,
I am its shadow that reappears, coming into its power.
I chant with the rustling of the trees and the singing of the nightingale, as the
Late summer’s breeze carries me.
I glance with grace and dignity at the treetops,
Lost and confused, I am searching for life’s meaning,
A home for myself, and an escape from reality-
I am the shadow of my dreams,
I have no future in this world;
I am only a shadow,
Lost in the woodlands,
Blending with the trees, and fading into the night-
As shy as the deer, but invisible-
I scream with the locusts,
I dance,
I chant.
Invisible to this world, here I am powerless and fearful, though as
I disappear into the horizon,
Hidden inside a mountain of clouds, I return to my power.
I have found here another place in time where
No one can harm me.
I am my own person, strong, brave and angry-
Lost somewhere in these clouds,
I have found a safe haven.
I dissolve into nothingness, and follow my dreams.
Whether it be in a dream or in reality,
I shall be found and never lost.
There will always be shadows dancing with the rhythm of the
Changing of time…

Shade and Shadow Dark and Night

Shade and Shadow
Dark and Night
Demons move
Beyond your sight
Moving slow
Cross the ground
Never do they make a sound
Shade and Shadow
Dark and Night
A murder has
Taken to flight
Stirring up the
Cold dead air
Does it matter?
Do you care?
Shade and Shadow
Dark and Night
Thoughts fill your mind
You think you might
These toughts they
Circle in your head
More and more you
Wish your dead
Shade and Shadow
Dark and Night
Capitulate
Give up the fight
It's too much effort
To go on
You're going
Going going gone

Great White Hope

Putting myself back in the game.
for its time for change.
Love in my heart is dead.
and i need to feel it again.
i need to know
i have a friend under the shadow in which i walk.
For I'm walking the walk of broken dreams.
cut and torn up, but know something great is coming.
or maybe that's the great white hope i believe in.
well wishing is here, throw your coin in.
Oh tell me what you wished for?
was it for a cure, was it for the perfect happiness,
was it for the end of all wars? oh just what was it for,
mine was for love. some search their entire lives and never find it.
i already had and lost it in one feel swoop.
Its gone forever part past.
A mistake, that still causes my heart to constantly ache.
I'm a dreamer, I'm a redeemer,
i will reclaim it even if not the same.
No such thing as second chances.
and for this I've never gave it a second.
goodby is forever. i broke her heart now shes gone.
she broke mine and now I'm gone.
two separate roads that weave and
turn but i don't expect well run into each other.

A Shadow

you are not alone
for i am a shadow and i always follow you
wherever you may go,

you shake me off?
no you can't. I am your shadow.

you want to be left alone?
you shove me away, no you can't.
i am a part of you. i reflect you. I am your shadow.

you feel forsaken?
you dislike me? You plan your escape.
You stand at noontime. No you can't take me away.

I am diminished. When the sun comes as your ally,
I am equal to you, under you and still a part of you.
You cannot take me away. I am your shadow.

You shed tears. I have the shadow of tears.
You bleed blood. I have the shadow of blood bleeding.

You cannot take me away from you. I am a part of you. I am your shadow.
You regret life? You want to end all these? You hate me?

Plan your next step. Vanish me. Kill me.
Use your black magic. Take me away from you. No you can't.

I am always a part of you. I am your shadow.
I ask you to ask me if i like this way with us together.

I tell you. I want to shake you off from me. I am your shadow.
And i detest you. My body.

The Girl Who Loved Her Own Shadow

The girl who loved her own shadow
Once had a nightmare for all times.
She saw in it boys and men without shadows at all!
They were men indeed.

Men with muscles and moustaches as ever
But none had a shadow of their own!
Her father and brother were there
They too had no shadows of any size!

Scared and doomed she was
As she saw that her mother and elder sister
Too had either no shadows or they were very short!
But she saw her own shadow close to herself!

As the nightmare ended, she was seen
Lying in the flood of sweat.
But as she opened the window and she saw another sky
And her sun of resolution was there alone.

She walked along the gravel track
And saw and felt somebody following close to her.
It was her own shadow, another self of tall heights.
She was the first girl who loved her own shadow.

Look back never!
A shadow may be or may not be there.
Sleep not ever!
A dream and a nightmare chase us ever.

Light And Shadow

the shadow hides itself
behind the body
away from light that
stabs it to
death

'too much light' says the
shadow
' amidst this heat
i shall perish' the shadow
fears

the body is there
as shield
and protects the shadow
from extinction

'not too dark' warns the shadow
i must be in the middle
somewhere

where light makes love
with absence
the shadow to its fullness
plays

Shadow

It's the second day of February so out the hole he creeps.
We wait to see does he see his shadow to know whether
or not we get six more winter weeks.
How crazy are we?
We're letting our future depend on a Groundhog's shadow.
Maybe the really shadow we are afraid to see
is the shadow that is our own insecurities.
Because how secure can we be in ourselves when we sit in wait in anticipation for to see if a Groundhog sees his shadow.
