Families Falling Apart, Together
families falling apart,
together...
jobs lost, houses lost...
pooling what little
they have left...
just holding on.
no insurance,
mailbox money,
food stamps, and
whatever they can scuff.
travelling in beat up old cars,
or walking... nowhere to go.
same clothes they wore yesterday,
and the day before...
the youngest daughter's pregnant,
again... but hell,
they're passing out cheese
and potatoes at the church....
Jesus died for their sins,
but no one else knows their names!

On Crime and Punishment
the angry young man,
who grew up in poverty,
whose mother worked two minimum wage jobs,
just to give him food and shelter...
who lost her jobs
when the economy fell,
and became sick with no insurance...
the angry young man,
who robbed the convenience store,
and while trying to avoid capture,
killed a young police officer...
who left behind a young pregnant wife,
and a three year old little boy,
left without a daddy....
the angry young man,
in jail awaiting trial...
awaiting justice....
where do we begin?

His People
the old man sat out here on the porch,
shaking, smoking a cigarette... waiting
on his ride.
i sat down to talk to him, mostly to listen...
'you know, my daughter and her husband
lost their jobs, and their house. so we
moved them and their kids in with us...
they're strung out on them pills, we cant
get them off... hell, she's took everything
in the house she could sell....'
and i just listened.... him, and his wife,
both on disability... barely able to get
from point a to point b...
every day i hear these stories... all different,
but all the same in the end.... no jobs,
nowhere to stay, no health insurance...
and dependence... usually pills...
these are the forgotten people, the people
without a voice... if Jesus were alive today,
these would be His people!

The Struggle
and so, the struggle continues... we beat our heads up against
imaginary walls constructed by our fears and desperation.
pay something on the light bill, something on the car... damn,
the rent's due again, ... what do you do?
work 50 hours a week for the same money you made in 1980...
but it wont foot the bill in 2011.
everybody's tense, angry, lashing out... desperate people do
stupid things... families disintegrate, or are lost altogether to
the storm... people living in beat up old cars, people hungry,
lost without direction... and nobody seems to care, or to be
able to do anything about it...
our young people fighting in mindless wars overseas come home
to... no jobs!
we have become expendable commodities... numbers, excess
numbers without names...
sometimes i feel like i'm alone in a savage wilderness, with a
pocket knife and a map i cant read. i think we all do
we have got to find a way, to find our way... and i think the
only way we can do it is together!
thought for the day... love hard... fight harder!

Easter 2007
Christ was born;
Christ had died;
Christ had risen;
Christ will come again!
Joy came down to earth
By baby Jesus’ birth;
Hope lost when He died
Was regained forever
When He arose alive
On the third day.
Jesus is our Savior;
Jesus is Redeemer;
Jesus is our Heavenly Lord;
Son of the living God.
Jesus is the love of God
Transformed into man
And dwelt amongst us;
Suffered and died
For all mankind’s sins
On the holy cross,
And resurrected;
So that, all who repent,
Can gain forgiveness of sins
And reach heaven!

Heroin
Well I wish, I was born
A thousand years ago
And I wish that I sailed
The darkened sea
On a great big clipper ship
Goin from this land into that
In a sailors suit and cap
Away from the big city -
Away from the big city
Where a man cannot be free
Of all the evils in this town
And of himself and those around
And Im closin in on death
And I guess that I just dont know
And I guess that I just dont know
Ah - jesus died for somebodys sins
But not mine
Jesus died for somebodys sins
But not mine
I dont know just where Im goin - ahh
But Im gonna try for the kingdom
If I can - yeah
cause it makes me feel like Im a man
When I put a spike into my vein
And I tell you things arent quite
The same
Its a mainline to my pain
Jesus died for somebodys sins
But not mine - heroin
Jesus died for somebodys sins
(I can feel it)
But not mine - heroin
I said, jesus died for somebodys sins
But not mine - heroin
I have made a very big decision
I gonna try to nullify my life -
You know
I get so low and then the smack flows
I dont care Im gonna make it my wife
Because when the blood begins to flow
And shoots up the droppers neck
And Im closin in on death
You can all go take a walk
And I guess that I just dont know
And I guess that I just dont know
Jesus died for somebodys sins
But not mine - heroin
Jesus died for somebodys sins
(I can feel it)
But not mine - heroin
I said, jesus died for somebodys sins
But not mine - heroin
I said, jesus died for somebodys sins
But not mine - heroin not mine,
Heroin, smack attack
Jesus died for somebodys sins
But not mine - heroin
Jesus died for somebodys sins
But not mine - heroin
Jesus died for somebodys sins
But not mine - heroin
Jesus died for somebodys sins
But not mine - heroin
Smack attack
Dont touch that needle
V.r. h e r o I n
V.r. h e r o I n
V.r. hell h e r o I n (forever)
And Im closin in on death

That's Jesus
THAT'S JESUS
WHEN I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING
PUT MY FEET ON THE FLOOR
I THANK HIM FOR THE DAY
THAT HE GAVE ME ONE MORE
I GIVE HIM ALL THE PRAISE
THE ONE THAT I ADORE
THAT'S JESUS, OH THAT'S JESUS
I WAS LOST AND ALL ALONE
MY HEART IN NEED OF HELP
I FOUND ETERNAL LIFE
AND LOST MY FEAR OF DEATH
BECAUSE I KNOW THE AUTHOR OF
MY EVERY BREATH,
OH THAT'S JESUS, THAT'S JESUS
GOD OF GLORY, MAJESTY
THE HOLY ONE WHO DIED FOR ME
WHO'S THE ONE I LONG TO SEE
THAT'S JESUS, OH THAT'S JESUS
IF YOU'RE A SOUL THAT'S LOST
AND IN NEED OF DIRECTION
YOU WONDER WHEN YOU DIE
IF YOU'LL GO TO HEAVEN
WELL FRIEND I'VE FOUND THE ANSWER
TO THAT VERY QUESTION
THAT'S JESUS, THAT'S JESUS
GOD OF GLORY, MAJESTY
THE HOLY ONE WHO DIED FOR ME
WHO'S THE ONE I LONG TO SEE
THAT'S JESUS, OH THAT'S JESUS

A pious man
A pious man had gone to Burma
From where he came as a destitute,
Ran a petty shop on borrowed money,
Made to marry in late thirties to go
bankrupt,
Bore two sons and a daughter
From his equally poor but virulent
wife,
Became invalid in money and mind,
Lost his wife to his brother in celibacy,
Added one more daughter from him,
Lost the second son in electric shock,
Wandered and laboured for food,
Reaped every kind of humiliation,
And then died, later to be followed
By his wife, leaving the children
To be grown by the remaining father,
Who too died with children spreading
Under different shelters to live
And get married.
I shed my tears thinking that pious man,
Who gave me sweets when I was
Twelve, who begged of me with his Eyes
For money when I started earning.

Used Car Sales People
With the gift of the gab they would talk their way out of hell
These used car sales people they know how to sell
On their selling ability their jobs are at stake
The more cars they do sell the more commission they do make
On any deals they clinch they have never lost
And your trust on such people can come at a cost
The more cars they sell the more money they get paid
A hard job to succeed in the used car trade,
Shy and sensitive used car sales people one might say are rare
To sell one a car no effort they do spare
They have to sell cars or their boss them will fire
And other used car yard owners as car sales people them will not hire
The more cars they sell the greater is their pay
So to sell you a car they try every which way.

Bedlam
It was bedlam, sheer chaos and collapse,
Of the city, the inner lot of buildings
Found in the country.
It composed of musical houses, golden shrines
And stationary and moving vehicles.
The bombs scolded me as well, lifted the lot,
Scalded me nearly, and wore my gait.
The running men were innocent, walking men
Were criminal.
Your city burned up till midnight,
Until fires were extinguished by the men of fire.
The city burnt again as the people recovered afterwards,
For they needed bandages and badges, fire was grotesque,
Fire made no sense, just not one sense, for it died
And everything died, when all was well, and afterwards,
All was well yet dead were some, and their families were somewhat dead.
The anarchy of this unique city fed as something else -
Hell on this world, hell to worsen the tracts of time.

Memento
At a time when my world was falling apart,
as if the seams were loosened,
when I had lost my job, lost my wife
and her children to another man,
when society was unravelling
with the new government
whose departments do not function properly
when both my cars were stolen
and the insurance and the police
wiggled themselves out of the equation
as if it wasn’t their concern,
you entered my life, entered into me
like a thunder falling from a blue sky
unexpectedly, but with great power and magic
there was tranquillity in your smile
and the believe that I had been sent,
been sent by the gods
and in memories
your voice, the look in your eyes
and your smile
still is part of me.

Who's that girl thats independent and hard working and
Who's that girl that can cook and got some good lovin' and
whos that girl that can take it down on her man and turn it into something
[Chorus]
You's a superstar
thats what you are
money, clothes and fancy cars
So high your on the top
You's a superstar
that's what you are
money, clothes and fancy cars
so high your on the top
Tell me who's that man with them 20 inches under that wide body benz and who's that man

[Chorus]
You's a superstar
thats what you are
money, clothes and fancy cars
So high your on the top
You's a superstar

so high your on the top
Tell me y'all who's that girl that looks so good and dress so sexy
and Who's that girl thats got me wanting her next to me
and who's that girl that with one look can knock me of my feet
and who's that girl that can take me striaght into extasy
[Chorus]
You's a superstar

So high your on the top
You's a superstar

Tell me y'all Who's that man that considers himself to be full grown
and whos that man that claims the world to be his own

The food was interesting. My background is Russian, so cheese and potatoes are my love. There was plenty of that. And fried cheese! It is really, really, really good. And really, really, really bad for you. It's like an artery on a plate.

Empty Pockets
what does it mean to be free
does anybody care
the lost sounds of liberty
the last honest prayer
if Jesus died for my sins
then why do i still hurt
cant justify where i've been
drawing circles in the dirt
does love have a face
or no face at all
yes, and is there any place
for the little man to fall
and if God still cares
why are things so hard
crosses burning in the night
empty pockets in the heart
now what's the price of life
will anybody pay
children lost in the night
children lost in the day
no work, no jobs, and no hope
and nothing left to pawn
at the end of my rope
chasing shadows in the dawn
does love have a face
or no face at all
yes, and is there any place
for the little man to fall
and if God still cares
why are things so hard
crosses burning in the night
empty pockets in the heart...
what does it mean to be free...

I Dont Think Jesus Died For This!
wars, wars, and rumors of wars...
1 in 5 children go to bed hungry.
people still cringe at the color of skin,
and religious people crucify
anyone who thinks different.
unemployment lines not moving,
soup lines getting longer.
shutting down the battered women's shelter,
funding cut off....
food stamps dont pay light bills,
and lovers face discrimination.
the clothes you got at Goodwill,
made in an Asian sweat shop....
dumping oil in the oceans,
the price of gas rising...
and vacant houses arent for vacant people.
everyone talking, nobody listening....
somehow i dont think Jesus died for this!

Growing Up In America!
you turned your children loose,
out in the streets of poverty....
only a few given a chance,
the rest left to fend for theirselves!
no jobs, unless you wanna soldier,
kill or be killed for oil....
then no jobs when you return,
and no house to return to!
food stamps and government aid,
till that eventually runs out....
then back on the streets where you started,
kill or be killed to survive....
dealing dope, dealing flesh, stealing cars,
no hope of anything more!
get caught and go to prison,
not in a gang, better join one!
poor white kids, poor kids of color,
growing up in America!

Chemical Smile
She lost her focus yesterday
She lost her focus in the sun
She sits and stares at it for hours
She says she likes to go outside
She gets hung up on the wind
She gets lost inside the happy noise
Sometimes I dont understand her
Sometimes I dont want to understand her
She says no no no no
She dont want no double life
She says I should know why
She seems happier at night
Her color tv and her chemical smile
I dont wanna know the reason
I dont wanna know the reason why
She says
Jesus owes her money
She says
The angels are her friends
What the hell does that mean?
Shes got the chemical smile

Karmic Revolution!
Reagon babies lying dead
on the Middle East sands....
oil battles there, even to
South America!
American workers stand in line
to buy the goods they lost jobs to...
bailing out the banks
with more borrowed money!
more Chevy's sold in China,
than are sold here!
Japan's Hiroshima cars
flood the market...
their kids stay in school,
their workers have jobs!
yet still whaling, and nuclear disaster!
terrorists steal planes,
or get elected to office....
trading clean water for oil,
and the profit is high!
the houses built by
the Hollywood president...
now stand vacant,
owned by banks that are owned!
and we stand in the street,
with nothing left to lose....
following in the footsteps
of our brothers and sisters...
in Epypt, in China, in Libya....
wherever they fight...
for freedom, equality, and a chance!

Shoeshine Girl
One day as I was walking
Through an airport corridor
I saw a comely goth girl
With tattos on her form
She gezed up with her pretty white fece
And shone her eyes on me
She shined my shoes and then I knew
That I would spellbound be
Her hair was not the shiniest
Her skin was not like silk
But she had a way of looking
That made me wanna milk
As I sat high above her
Her cleavage I could see
I contemplated both of them
Thats how she spellbound me
She wore black on her clothing
And she wore black on her boots
Lt was lollapalooza day
But she didnt iike he groups
I got lost in her pale skin
And wanted to stay down
But I had someone waiting
So I left spellbound
So if youre dark and lovely
And you see me passing by
A smile Id appreciate
And a little bit of crime
I haven got a dollar
And I havent gol a crown
I wander lost across this earlh
Im just spellbound
