Blame

who to blame?
we spend all of our time
pointing fingers, looking
for who to blame for

wars, poverty, injustices,
disease, overpopulation,
racism, enslavements,
hunger, homelessness.

who to blame?
men, women, white people,
Muslims, conservative Christians,
right-wingers, gay people, straight people,
the elite, illegal immigrants.

wake the hell up!
all of us bear equal
responsibility in this blame.

we are all a part of the cause.
we are all a part of the cure.

if we spent half as much time
working to fix our problems
as we do pointing fingers.
we'd fix them!

each of us has the right
to our own individuality
but each of us have the
responsibility of our collective
unity

Battling Ignorance

i know that it feels like
that we are surrounded by,
almost engulfed by, ignorance...
it never fails to amaze me
that people spend so much time,
and energy, looking for someone
to blame.
is it easier to blame, than to take
responsibility?
is it easier to hate, than to love
the unlovable in ourselves and others?
is it easier to close our eyes, and
look the other way, than to see:
1. the faces of the faceless
2. the needs of those in need
3. the facts that your face is
...one of these, and your needs
...the same!

than to feel:
1. the hunger of the hungry
2. the lonliness of the lonely
3. their hearts beating inside
...of yours, and yours in theirs.

than to understand:
1. each human being is part of
...every human being!
2. what we perceive as difference
...is an illusion created by fear.
3. that we in fact cannot make it
...without each other!

Sonnet: Such Blaming is Futile

Why blame poor Death when it does its duty?
Why blame the land for becoming desert?
Why blame Nature for unleashing fury?
Why blame dame Luck for being so inert?

Why blame the Sun for scorching summer’s heat?
Why blame the winter for its freezing cold?
Why blame the Wind for turning land less neat?
Why blame women for asking diamonds, gold?

Why blame the Sky for not bringing the Rain?
Why blame the Air for becoming so foul?
Why blame the nerves for sensation of pain?
Why blame the devils for your sinful soul?

Why blame the Stars for good or bad life brings?
Why blame your God for bad turn of some things?

Sonnet: Why Blame?

Why blame the eagle for its swoop on mice?
Why blame the tiger for hunting its prey?
Why blame the drug-peddler for playing dice?
Why blame the donkey when it can but bray?

Why blame the wind that makes the branches sway?
Why blame the snake for its poison-fangs?
Why blame the sun for a hot summer’s day?
Why blame the police for the thieving gangs?

Why blame the night for being dark and cold?
Why blame the devils when they will tempt man?
Why blame our fate when we are getting old?
Why blame the Maker for how Man began?

Why blame the circumstances for our sins?
Why blame the tongue, whenever our words mince?

I Blame You

Ten miles from nowhere
Theres a story thats true
About a fine girl
And a boy just like you
They fell so deeply
But then fell apart
Now they say the same words
Of what used to be
What used to be
I blame you (I blame you)
I blame you (I blame you)
I blame you (I blame you)
He drops his car keys
And crawls on the ground
Finds her old haircomb
Shed wear into town
Cant bear to keep it
Or throw it away
Gets back down on his kness
Put it back where it lay
Back where it lay
I blame you (I blame you)
I blame you (I blame you)
I blame you (I blame you)
Notes
There is a different song on dial-a-song with the same tune as this. it is titled free birds rebirth, and goes:
Listen dear people
To a story so sad
About a poor boy
Who never went bad
He got some chain mail
But he broke the chain
Now he must sing free bird
Again and again
Again and again
Again and again
Free bird
Free bird

Trouble within

Greed and selfishness,
Trademark of a nation
Misery and hopelessness,
burden of its people

Yesterday oppressed,
Today’s oppressors

Who shall we blame,
If no our own self?
Who shall we blame,
If not our own people?

Paradigm of failure,
Archetype of frustration
Cited as example
Of everything gone wrong

No value,
No respect

Who shall we blame,
If not our own self?
Who shall we blame,
If not our own people?

Simple Words, And Quietness!

i used to write
with exploding images,
and intricate rhymes.
mapping the grand design
of passion unfolding.
but now i've reached a place
of quietness, and simple words,
raw honesty, and tiny flames...
and i'm at peace with myself.

i know that all war is wrong,
that hunger and homelessness
are a scourge, the result
of our own actions.
and i feel deeply the responsibility
to share in the suffering
of one and all.

i dont blame anything on God,
we havent even touched
what God is with our concepts.
dont blame anything on politicians,
we put them there
out of our own apathetic greed.
i dont blame lonliness on lovers,
you cant know love
without having been lonely.

age brings with it a deep sense
of mortality, and of the value
of each fleeting moment.
it's all too easy to spend
your life fighting and working
for things that have no lasting value...
i know, i've been there.

i learned to look in the mirror,
and really see myself.
learned to look at myself,
and see all others.
i've taken responsibility for
my thoughts and desires,
as well as my actions...
so i have no right to judge.

compassion, and giving...
celebrate the moment.
what i dont know
i dont have to know...
i have enough faith
to keep walking.

simple words, and quietness!

Why Blame...

Why blame the state of things around
For what they are, and how they are?
Each one must take the blame sans sound
For freedom’s misuse, use unfair!

Why blame a group that’s money-mad
For being so, when most are bad?
All hearts have loved money from birth,
And dreamt that it does give all mirth!

Why blame the air and water, soil,
For our ill-health, and lazy toil?
If each one did his duties well,
Our land need not be lust like hell!

Why blame others for faults our own,
And misdemeanour that’s self-grown?
Each rotten fruit can spoil the rest
However good, even the best!

Why blame the leaders for mis-rule,
When voter stays an instant fool?
The empowered must know limits,
And do just things the land befits!

Why blame the creeds and people’s mix
For landing us in queer a fix?
Nothing on earth can stay all pure,
Like diseases defying cure!

Why blame fair God for what we are
And seething problems, we can’t bear?
The power given to a few
Has rained on all as poison-dew!

Why blame and play a ‘blaming-game’,
When all must bow their heads in shame?
The freedom got through blood and sweat
Eludes the common masses, yet!

Why people have not become wise,
And blame others for each one’s vice?
Let patriotism and thought
Remain for land, brethren in heart!

When hearts and minds have gone corrupt,
Selfishness stays, progress disrupts;
When love for fellow-men stays high,
Then, freedom’s sense and truth can’t die!

Live, By God, Live!

perhaps i've said what i wanted to say poorly...
the crux of the matter is this:
we are where we are because
we've put ourselves here,
we've allowed this to happen to us!
we blame the government,
we blame people who are 'different',
we blame the economy,
we blame god,
we blame each other.
bottom line, we are to blame.
we cannot evolve as human beings
without evolving as a society.
we cannot evolve as people,
without evolving as a nation.
we cannot evolve as citizens,
without evolving as citizens of the world.
we've stood by, and done nothing.
we have run from the truth,
we have betrayed ourselves!
we've existed in tiny cells,
denying our responsibilities.
this has to stop!
we are out of time.
we are surrounded by suffering,
and our indifference is the cause.
stand up! shout! demand dignity!
and Live, by god, Live!

A Toast to the Men

Here's to the men! Since Adam's time
They've always been the same;
Whenever anything goes wrong,
The woman is to blame.
From early morn to late at night,
The men fault-finders are;
They blame us if they oversleep,
Or if they miss a car.
They blame us if, beneath the bed,
Their collar buttons roll;
They blame us if the fire is out
Or if there is no coal.
They blame us if they cut themselves
While shaving, and they swear
That we're to blame if they decide
To go upon a tear.

Here's to the men, the perfect men!
Who never are at fault;
They blame us if they chance to get
The pepper for the salt.
They blame us if their business fails,
Or back a losing horse;
And when it rains on holidays
The fault is ours, of course.
They blame us when they fall in love,
And when they married get;
Likewise they blame us when they're sick,
And when they fall in debt.
For everything that crisscross goes
They say we are to blame;
But, after all, here's to the men,
We love them just the same!

Blame It On The Love Of Rock & Roll

First time i heard the music
I thought it was my own
I could feel it in my heartbeat
I could feel it in my bones
My momma thinks i'm crazy
My dad says i'm insane
I got this boogie woogie fever
That's burning in my veins
They tried to take me to a doctor
But it's too late for me
Then they took me to a preacher
That they saw on their tv
Who said that for a small donation
My lost soul would be saved
I said i don't think so preacher
I'll come back another day
All i want, is to be a rolling stone
They don't understand what we all know
It feels so good that it ought to be illegal
I got my vaccination from a pornograf needle
I'll never grow up and i'll never grow old
Blame it on the love of rock & roll
My teachers didn't like me they always
Tried to put me down
'cause i wore my hair too long
I played my music way too loud
Every little boy wants to learn to play guitar
So he can pick up all the chicks
And be a rock-n-roll star
They said it won't last, but they misunderstood
If people think it's bad then i'll be bad for good
It feels so good that it ought to be illegal
I got my vaccination from a pornograf needle
I'll never grow up and i'll never grow old
Blame it on the love of rock & roll
Blame it on the love, blame it on the love
Dad don't understand what the little girls know
Blame it on the love of rock-n-roll
All i wanted, all i ever needed
My guitar gave to me
Every song i've sung blame it on love
Every war i've won blame it on love
Everything i've done blame it on love
Blame it on the love of rock-n-roll
It feels so good that it ought to be illegal
I got my vaccination from a pornograf needle
I'll never grow up and i'll never grow old
Blame it on the love of rock & roll

If There Is a God

if there is a God,
then He/She has
to be pissed!

bearing all the blame
for decades/centuries
of wars, countless
genocides...
famines, earthquakes,
starvation, and disease...

all the atrocious acts
committed by mankind
in the name of God!

and now we live in a nuclear
world, with the threat of
total annihilation...
God?

there are no chosen people!
all people are just people.
all of life is sacred...

what we blame on God
is either the manifestations
of our self oriented egos...

or the results of our actions...

if there is a God,
and i believe there is...
you'll find Him/Her expressed
in the forms of all the living...

in the song of life hidden
in the person you like least...
in the hunger for compassion...
in your own heart!

You Are Not Alone....

have spent all morning
talking about taking responsibility...
the problem is we come from the
generation that blames...
we blame every one and everything
else for the mess we've created.
we blame politicians, businessmen,
religions, people of different
colors, different sexual orientations...
our parents, our neighbors,
bigots, the world economy...

but bottom line, people.
we are responsible.
we are the price, and the cost.
we are the reason that there is
hunger, want, need, and poverty.
we are the cause of the fighting,
and the victims of our own choices.

nothing will ever change until we do!
until we face the man/woman
in the mirror, there can be no tomorrow.
until we learn to live,
not just to exist,
there can be no eternal life.
until we own and forgive,
there can be no forgiveness.

i make just as many mistakes,
and probably more,
than you do...
but i can see the bottom line.
and the truth is,
i know i am responsible!

nothing left to say...
you're probably tired of my ranting...
so if you're going to listen,
listen to the voice inside
of your hearts...
and follow your path...
you are not alone!

Court

You tripped out of your car
You rolled across the road
Didn’t know what your eyes could see
Your balance let you free.

You’re waiting for someone to pick you up
While waiting you became a part of the road
You let people drive over you
And poison you with car smoke.

You blame the slippery road
You blame your worn out shoes
The truth remains that you fell
But instead of standing up you sue

Don’t blame the shoes you walk in
Blame the feet walking in them.

The Diversity of People

There are pretty people
There are ugly people,
There are short people
There are fat people,
There are tall people
And there are skinny people

There are people that you blame
And there are people that blame you,
There are people like me
And there are people like you

There are mothers
And there are fathers,
There are sons
And there are daughters

They are all wound up in their family trees,
Walking ordinarily on the streets
To life's different beats

Sonnet: Just Correct Yourself

Don’t blame the door for creakiness when old;
Don’t blame the oven for burnt cakes it bakes;
Don’t blame the seller of the things bought/sold;
Don’t blame the cot for squeaky noise, it makes.

Don’t blame the stars or dates or time of year;
Don’t blame the pen for writing bad verses;
Don’t blame the pedestrian, stone-deaf by ear;
Don’t blame the voters for your reverses.

For, failures could be pre-destined by God,
Or they could happen on account of us;
Our human reasoning can’t explain things odd;
Why blame the cyclist hit by our ‘spare-bus’.

Set-backs will come in all the things we do;
But they should never serve to perturb you.

Blame It On You

Shes got pizzazz
Like a razzmatazz
Id like to slide it in
But where do I begin
Wastes all my money
Spends all my time
I aint got no luck
Cant change her mind
Chorus:
Blame it on you
I cant stand up
Blame it on you
Im keepin my mouth shut
Blame it on you
I cant see straight
Blame it on you
Uh-oh, too late
I want a little reaction
How bout a kiss or two?
She said, jump back honey,
I said, no can do.
Why do you always make a fool out of me?
I cant get no nookie
Just plain to see
Wastes all my money
Spends all my time
I aint got no luck
Cant change her mind
Chorus:
Blame it on you
I cant get no sleep
Blame it on you
Im in six feet deep
Blame it on you
Well I guess its true
Blame it on you
Yes, I do
I blame this whole damn mess, honey
Right on you

Now listen little girl, let me explain
Why you got me in such a terrible way

Blame It On The Sun

Where has my love gone?
How can I go on?
It seems dear love has gone away.
Where is my spirit?
Im nowhere near it,
Oh yes, my love has gone astray.
But Ill blame it on the sun,
The sun that didnt shine,
Ill blame it on the wind and the trees.
Ill blame it on the time that never was enough,
Ill blame it on the tide and the sea,
But, my heart blames it on me.
Who poured the love out?
What made this bitter doubt?
Is peace not here for me to see?
Wish I could tell you,
But, words wont come for me to speak.
But Ill blame it on the sun,
That didnt fill the sky,
Ill blame it on the birds and the trees.
Ill blame it on the day that ended once too soon,
Ill blame it on the nights that could not be,
But, my heart blames it on me.
(background)...yeh, yeh, yeh, ooh,
Your heart blames it on you this time.
