As If Never!

your mouth tembles,
cannot form the word love;
your body storms,
breaking windows and doors.
your hands sweat,
your eyes close, and open.
the embers deep,
sputter, and flame...
beyond your control,
your winds laps it's tongue,
just for a taste,
for one stolen moment.
the earth stops turning,
poles begin to shift...
and mountains, cities, and
rivers swallowed in an instant...
as if never!

Literary Tongue

at first i like the hands
those huge hands to cover the whole of my cold body
and then i begin to like the fingers
those that crawl and make my body warm
those that fill the orifice of my emptiness
those that caress my hair
and travel from my nose to my mouth
to my neck to the last tip of my toes
and then i like the mouth too
with its tongue that speak about gentleness
and make me a little bit heated
and brave
and then i am finally stuck with the tongue
the surrogate part of of them all
it speaks
it licks
it travels from the tip of my hair to the tip of my toe
and then it stops
hides inside the walls of my teeth and gums
and stay in the house of my mouth
it also knows
when to stop and just be alone and silent

The House Jack Built

Open doors so I walk inside
Close my eyes find my place to hide
And I shake as I take it in
Let the show begin
Open my eyes
Just to have them close again
Well on my way
On my way to where I graze
It swallows me
As it takes me in his home
I twist away
As I kill this world
Open doors so I walk inside
Close my eyes find my place to hide
And I shake as I take it in
Let the show begin
Open my eyes
Just to have them close once again
Don't want control
As It takes me down and down again
Is that the moon
Or just a light that lights this deadend street?
Is that you there
Or just another demon that I meet?
The higher you are
The farther you fall
The longer the walk
The farther you crawl
My body my temple
This temple it tells
Step into the house that Jack built
The higher you are
The farther you fall
The longer the walk
The farther you crawl
My body my temple
This temple it tells
Yes this is the house that Jack built
Open doors as I walk inside
Swallow me so the pain subsides
And I shake as I take this in
Let the show begin
The higher you are
The farther you fall
The longer the walk
The farther you crawl
My body my temple
This temple it tells
Yes this is the house that Jack built
The higher you are

I twist away
Away

You Took The Words Right Out My Mouth

It was a hot summer night and the beach was burning
There was a fog crawling over the sand
When I listen to your heart I hear the whole world turning
I see the shooting stars
Falling through your trembling hands
You were licking your lips and your lipstick shining
I was dying just to ask for a taste
We were lying together in a silver lining
By the light of the moon
You know there's not another moment to waste
Not another moment
Not another moment to waste
You hold me so close that my knees grow weak
But my soul is flying high above the ground
I'm trying to speak but no matter what I do
I just can't seem to make any sound
And then you took the words right out of my mouth
Oh-it must have been while you were kissing me
You took the words right out of my mouth
And I swear it's true
I was just about to say I love you
And then you took the words right out of my mouth
Oh-it must have been while you were kissing me
You took the words right out of my mouth
And I swear it's true
I was just about to say I love you
Now my body is shaking like a wave on the water
And I guess that I'm beginning to grin
Oooh, we're finally alone and we can do what we want to
The night is young
And ain't no one gonna know where
No one gonna know where
No one's gonna know where you've been
You were licking your lips and your lipstick shining
I was dying just to ask for a taste
We were lying together in a silver lining
By the light of the moon
You know there's not another moment to waste
Not another moment
Not another moment to waste
And then you took the words right out of my mouth
Oh-it must have been while you were kissing me
You took the words right out of my mouth
And I swear it's true
I was just about to say I love you
And then you took the words right out of my mouth
Oh-it must have been while you were kissing me

And I swear it's true
I was just about to say I love you

The Tongue

Inadvertently I passed the border of her teeth and swallowed
her agile tongue. It lives inside me now, like a Japanese fish. It
brushes against my heart and my diaphragm as if against the walls
of an aquarium. It stirs silt from the bottom.
She whom I deprived of a voice stares at me with big eyes
and waits for a word.
Yet I do not know which tongue to use when speaking to
her – the stolen one or the one which melts in my mouth from an
excess of heavy goodness.

Coming close

to the sound made of light
almost soundless steps stair by stair
eavesdropping
the crackling of the staircase
glued to the buzzing in my own ears
is that you

coming close to the window silently breaking
to the opening of the eyelids into the night
with the taste of the word 'never' on the tip of my tongue
a shadow swallowed in each word
is that you

coming close always to the outbreak
sewed within a bird mad enough to fly
coming close always with the hope
painful enough to remember a dream
is that you

is that you
thus whispered the night
is that you
thus cried the streets
is that you
thus thundered the mountain
is that you
thus were silent the galaxies

Hidden Something

something that you promise not to see
again
the tongue hides within the mouth
it will not taste this again
the eyes roll
eyelids close as the scene is
repeated
it is about another form
of tongue-in-cheek
the mouth says something that it does not mean
the brain understands perfectly
like the heart

and so here it is again
viewed for the nth time
this time the conscience is numb

it says
another lie
it comes back again
savoring
what it says it hates
what it believes is too unlikely of its being

but what can you do
here it is again
mutually salivating

Another For Poetry's Sake...

(i am sleepy but my hands
are still crazy about poetry...

it is a living river fed by
a heavy rain from those big
virgin mountains
the roots of trees are no longer
cups and basins
and so the flood begins
the rivers
tributaries twenty in all
run
towards the big mouth
of the bay
where they unload their murkiness
swallowed
by the royalty of
deep blue.

So Close

Tears still lie
So close
So close
Even as the years go

Just underneath the surface

Silent goodbyes
So close
So close
To breaking down

You were here just a moment ago

Tiny little memories
So close
So close
The laughter and love

But still I want you here

Then thin glass is breaking
So close
So close
A silent, glittering tear

Soul's Rebellion (Part Two)

you shake me...
'you ok? ,
you must have been dreaming...'
am i dreaming,
or have i always been,
just a shadow, a form,
walking through heated dreams?

too long bound by guilt,
mine, yours, anybody's,
and everybody's....
what am i afraid of?
the image in the mirror,
unarmed and toothless!
even the thief has a god,
the murderer salvation.
the redemption of a poet...
to die and dissolve.

marching, marching,
into the angry streets.
i hear my voice shouting,
tremble with the power.
call the lie a lie,
demand justice and dignity.
wearing the scars of equality,
and nothing else...

breaking through doors,
and smashing windows...
maddened, the wolf
searches for his mate.
knees on stone floors,
bleeding with hunger...
the stink of your jail,
hangs in my breath.

my tongue trails
the last bead of sweat
down your neck to your breasts,
to your nether below.
i am the stolen promise,
the stranger who waited
under your bed,
for your heart to whisper,
'all clear, we are free! '
then like an army of ants,
i stampede through cracks and crevice,
to taste of your honey,
at the cost of my life!

Woman And Poetry

writing poems together

with that woman is so much fun

i write mine, (i am much better than that woman)

i ask her to read my poems she obliges with her spectacles

as she opens her mouth to syllabicate

i gulp some saliva to my mouth

this woman is terrible

she makes me giggle

i have her word for word i have her metaphor per metaphor

there is no time to discuss

i like her to undress this time

i'll take the magic of her word

this time i will open my mouth

this time i will read all of her

i will not discuss i will not understand

i will just feel these metaphors

this mouth this tongue this body

this most important poetry

this love this lust this moment

after we have written

our poems together.

Derek Walcott

R.t.s.l. (1917-1977)

As for that other thing
which comes when the eyelid is glazed
and the wax gleam
from the unwrinkled forehead
asks no more questions
of the dry mouth,

whether they open the heart like a shirt
to release a rage of swallows,
whether the brain
is a library for worms,
on the instant of that knowledge
of the moment
when everything became so stiff,

so formal with ironical adieux,
organ and choir,
and I must borrow a black tie,
and at what moment in the oration
shall I break down and weep -
there was the startle of wings
breaking from the closing cage
of your body, your fist unclenching
these pigeons circling serenely
over the page,

and,
as the parentheses lock like a gate
1917 to 1977,
the semicircles close to form a face,
a world, a wholeness,
an unbreakable O,
and something that once had a fearful name
walks from the thing that used to wear its name,
transparent, exact representative,
so that we can see through it
churches, cars, sunlight,
and the Boston Common,
not needing any book.

Naked Flame

This is a mad house, she goes straight for the palm
Youll be luck to make it till tuesday
I say you must be joking, the ideas absurd
But the pictures hanging on her every word
But she comes right back, her black velvet cat
Has gone smiled all over the carpet
He says I know my rights, Ive got nothing to say
But he cried all night on the night n day
Ive seen the naked flame
And Im turning my eyes away
Yes its a mad house, the minister shouts
But his words drown out in the crowd
He says I open my mouth and some idiot speaks
So he strikes the service for another two weeks
Then the partys over, its a free-for-all
Im under the table, I got my foot in the door
Well shes a natural leader, and shes bound to win
Shes just waiting for the burning to begin
Ive seen the naked flame
Its gonna burn me again
Im dying down in the rain
And Im turning my eyes away

At Night With The Rain

i have closed the doors
and the windows
and let go the curtains
touching the floors

i close my eyes and listen
to the rain
i dream of stars
i miss the moon

the walls close on in me
beyond the glass windows
to the sea
i hear the sad calls of the
night

outside the trees are blown
the black cat stares at me
and then some tears
begin to fall

So, I Held On

Where was here
when I traveled back
in search…
in need of hope…

Time ridiculed me
when, I needed life,
needed you…
just to breathe in,
inhale… just to love…

Moment by moment
as the time passed us by
the windows closed, and
the doors got locked, even
walls rose up from the Earth

I got lost without a key
and you didn't want me,
to follow you… to be,
your shadow, the only one

Sigh.

Where was then
when I saw it all written
deep within your eyes
it shook my soul…
my core… and I fell

Tell me that you don't!
You don't love me
you cannot, and I know
eyes don't lie, and
I know what I saw.

A Brand New Day....

THAT feeling that you are nothing
we must admit, comes in a while
like a drought in April,
you feel like a Sahara though you have never been there
but it is more real
that dryness of the river of the soul
that runs without a water
winding its way into the labyrinths of your heart
you feel like hanging yourself upon a tree and
saying: this is it
i am swallowed by the mouth of emptiness,
on the other hand, in time you come to your senses
imagining the gardens, and lakes and mountains
the youthful days with friends
as though you wake up from a deep stupor with
the sleep inducing drug
you pinch yourself, ' i am still alive
and there is still a use for my hands and
the whole body'
you open your eyes to see the morning light.

it is a brand new day. it is. it really is.
why must emptiness carry you as though you are a powerless piece
of floating paper in air?
damn it.

The fruits on the table

I love the papayas
Spread on the table
Reddish orange papayas
Plump and Smooth to my
Hands

And some purple grapes
Sweet pulp
Luscious to my
Lips

Some rambutans
Hairy fruits in red
Tickling to my
Fingers

Pungent durian
Tasting like
Heaven to
My mind

They are all spread on
The table

And I would caress smooth
Reddish papayas with
My bare hands
Put a grape in my mouth
And my tongue
Does the savoring of
Juicy rambutans
My lips close in
To a juicy roundness
As I breathe on some
Red hairs
Of this magical luscious fruit

The durian is opened
And the taste of heaven
Comes to my mind
With eyes closed as
Though I own all the passions
Of this world

When we were young and
Crazy about ourselves
I laid her on the table
And spread herself there
She was all those kinds of
Fruits to me and I was the
Hands, the mouth, the lips,
The tongue
The stomach that swallowed her all

Every bit that was juicy
Every freshness every plumpness
She was all fruits to me
She was all nature giving in, all over
To the passions of this fruit lover.

a word from you, then you stop
something choppy
i like to listen more from you
another word, cut into half
i am having a hard time
figuring out what is there
with you that wants to hold
me, i stop to listen again,
some scratches from your
tongue, some gnashing from
your teeth, i am listening still,
some more words, more of
pauses, like some commas
are constructed by you on
purpose, i am tired in this,
i am impatient, you stretch
your arms to reach me again,
as i go nearer tapping my ears,
for you, yet there is this
suppression of meaning,
i am listening still, you
close your eyes and then
open them, this time some
tears fall, like ripe drops
of rain from dark clouds,

i see, your heart is broken
and your mind cannot
understand perfectly,
your mouth haggles
with words that your
tongue cannot form

simply because love is always misunderstood.
