9/11, And The Days After

how many died that day
at the World Trade Center?
how many died
in the field?

and how many have died...
how many young boys
sent off to war?
how many citizens of Iraq?
Afghanistan?
how many women and children?

how many deaths
does it take for
us to finally understand?

killing is wrong!
one death does not
justify another!
murder does not
heal wounds...
or bring back
loved ones.....

one decade later....
and we still dont understand
the value of life...
and therein lies
the cause for mourning,
and the sadness!

All People...

the people who were killed
at Pearl Harbor, at Hiroshima,
in the Nazi death camps,
in Vietnam, in Iraq, in Afghanistan....

on 9/11....
were all people,
many with families, all with dreams
of living and loving....

it is both tragic and sad
how they died, and that they died....

it is also a sad truth
that all the killing in the world
wont bring them back,
and will never redeem what happened....

Veteran's day lament!

1376... sounds like some historical date
Required to be memorized in high school history class

Well it’s not. it’s a much, much more important number
And we cannot let it pass.

It’s the number of our young boys in Afghanistan
Who have died all alone

It’s the number of young boys
Who will never come home

They died for a people who will never care
They died hoping to accomplish something

We should have kept them home I know
For their gallant deaths will accomplish nothing

1376.…sounds like some random numbers and
To our leaders I suppose they are

To me it’s young lives, gone forever
In a stupid and senseless war.

Speak up! ! ! Bring them home, Keep them home
This madness has gone too far! !

And the children died

And the children died.
Our children kept dying.
Then our childrens child
picked up the struggle,
and they died.

Whether in Belfast, palestine, chile,
or Iraq. They, our children died.
When moneyed powered barons
enjoin to force their farce of alien
thoughts upon a righteous people
our children die.

They, our children continued to fight
and to die.Their bodies piled up.
Sorrow became our life, the blood from
their wounds glistens always in our eyes,
and they our children fight.

Whilst we listen to politicans imploring
us to accept their just peace.
And the children died...

The Man Died

The man died and died and died
And finally the man died!
People killed the man severally
Before the man finally died
The mans family labelled
The man dead.
The community labelled
The man dead
.
And above all the man saw in Himself a living ghost
And had since decayed and rotted inside
That not even the warmt
Of a living blood
Could've been enough
To bring the man back
To life again.

~You're Dead Because Of Me~

At times it may seem
That living life is to hard,
Mybody cries and screams
And my trust has been scarred
I'm sick of living but what else can I do
Perhaps suicide?
Everything would be better if I died
But what if I died where would I go?
Would I finally see you?
After all these years,
Through all my tears,
Would I finally be with you?

I saw you going under, I saw your hand,
I saw you reach for me, but I didnt understand
I didnt understand, but now I do,
You were reaching for me,
To help you onto safety,
At the time i didn't see,
And now you're gone, because I didn't help you,
You're dead because of what I didn't do

It's because of me,
That you died,
Because of me that you commited suicide,
ALL MY FAULT! ! ! ! ! ! !

Today I Died Again

The human drum
Beats a rhythm of life
The clothes he wears
Date back to the war
He talks alot
Often to himself
She dont say much
Just cuts his hair
She cant remember
Before the heat
He cant remember
His wifes christian name
Paint me a picture
Towers in sand
America can fall
Today I died again
I died again
I died today
Today I died again
I died again
I died today
Back to a year
Back to a youth
Of men in church and drug cabarets
Is this the age
Of empires and dance
Oh what a world
Oh what a world
She cant remember
Before this heat
He cant remember
His wifes christian name
Paint me a picture
Bodies in sand
Presidents can fall
Today I died again
I died again
I died today
Today I died again
I died again
I died today

Enough Is Not Enough

Slow down, you know youre leaving me behind
You seem to think that you can read my mind
You think Im rich, you think Im free
You wanna change your place with me
Be a leader then the blind can lead the blind
Happens all the time
Cant you understand . . .
Enough is not enough, its not enough . . .
Its not enough
Ive been filled with culture, Ive been filled with lies
And compliments from people I despise
Shake my hand and sing along
Always getting one line wrong
Shout for more when I know I just died
Died . . .
Cant you understand . . .
Enough is not enough, its not enough . . .
Its not enough
So - when I think I know my way around
Im gonna take a bus to the other side of town
Im gonna stay out all night long
Gonna sing some strange new song
Lose myself and hope I dont get found
Dont ask me how
Cant you understand . . .
Enough is not enough, its not enough . . .
Its not enough

The Day I Died

The air was close, but it would not rain
The day I died.
And smog enshrouded Gotham town
The day I died..

I should have stayed in Oceanside
The day I died.
Instead of a hellish subway ride
The day I died.

It started with a stabbing pain
The day I died.
Then waves of nausea deep inside
The day I died.

I fell to earth, I could not breathe
The day I died.
Co workers rushing to my side
The day I died.

Sirens scream on distant streets
The day I died.
bringing hosts of E.M.T.’s
The day I died..

Too late for me, this proud heart fails
The day I died.
I thought” This is the last of Earth”
The day I died.

Music of Demise

Twinkling with grace
Killing without trace
Caring with lullaby
Torturing without mercy

Tune by tune erasing our mind
Lyric by lyric crushing our sanity
Cutting our veins silently
Killing us with the innocence of it

Your creator was died brutally
Erasing their life with their own hand
Died with unknown causes
A moment after created you

Venom that lies in you
Whispering death with you
Killing everything with you
The demise that lies in you

HIV/ AIDS Anecdotal Poems

She loved a man and he was young;
He loved her back and had some fun;
They married too and some years passed;
They both died young, left child orphan!

He was a trucker working hard;
He used to come home twice a month;
He was a wayward, smoker, drunk;
He died of AIDS, infecting wife!

A police husband’s wife was nurse;
The man gave HIV to her;
When he died, she took ART;
She died too when she stopped her drugs!

It was a jolly trip for boys;
They enjoyed well, sang, drank and danced;
Some strayed into the red-light zone;
All of them developed AIDS sometime!

Young boys and girls do venture young
To know what love-making’s about;
Adults have sex outside marriage;
And when AIDS strikes, they are soon dead!

Even the rich and literate
Succumb to pleasures that can kill;
Homosexuality, IDU
Can turn you sero-positive!

Why risk your one life precious most?
God wants the human race stay pure;
You cannot live by whims, fancies;
You are duty-bound till you die!

‘Avoid all risks of HIV exposure
Keep your mind, body’s composure’

Vietnam

The runway rushed up at me, I felt the wheels touch down
Stood out on the blacktop, and took a taxi into town
Got off down on Main Street, to see what I recognized
All I seen was strange faces, watching a stranger passin' by
Vietnam, Vietnam, I don't man
Back in Vietnam
Went for my job back at the factory, down at the factory
The only thing I heard from the man at the desk
Is, "Son, understand if it was up to me"
'bout half the town's out of work
Ain't nothin' for you here
From the assembly line to the front-line
But I guess you didn't hear"
You died in Vietnam, you died in Vietnam
Now don't you understand, you died in Vietnam
Drive down my neighborhood
See the flags out on the porch
So I went to see my old baby
Down at First and Grand
Her mama told me she ran off
With a singer in a rock 'n' roll band
????
I can see me passin' by
You died in Vietnam, you died in Vietnam
Boy, don't you understand, you died in Vietnam
The runway rushed up at me, I felt the wheels hit down
I stood out on the blacktop, and took a taxi into town
Got off down on Main Street, to see what I could see
All I seen was strangers, watchin' a stranger pass by
And that stranger was me
Vietnam, Vietnam, oh-no man
Vietnam
Went to see my baby, down on First and Grand
To tell her I'd come home from away in Vietnam
Her mama came to the door and told me
Her mama told me she ran away
With a singer in a rock 'n' roll band
She said, "I'm sorry son, but we understand"
You died in Vietnam, you died in Vietnam
Now don't you understand, you died in Vietnam

Here Lie's The truth

“Here Lies the truth”,
On Her tombstone this will be wrote.
It was never spoke when She was living,
So also in death, it will be unspoke.
By Her it was never said
it was as though pulling out Her soul,
So here lies the truth and herself dead
Both has died in sadness and woe.

Here lies the truth,
Not once by her was it cried,
Not in the days that she was living,
Not even in the day that She had died.
She must of believed that it was a sin
To open Her heart and listen to the word
So She closed her heart and locked it shut,
And She never believed in no one but Her.

Here lies the truth,
It lived but a very short life,
Though the Woman died of years of age
The truth though, never had a chance to try.
Everyone She knew had learned Her lie
They never believed a word that she said
So when She finally tried to speak the truth,
Her heart stopped; and She laid dead.

Here lies the truth
It lived but a very short life,
It was loved by neither Child or Man,
For they believe its living was but a lie.
So here in the grave it will lay dead
As it had lived in this woman's soul,
Never again will it be uttered or thought of,
Never till the end of time will it be thought of or known.

He Says There Is No Denial

i watched him on his last lecture.
there are seven tumors on his liver.
six months to live and he is on the fourth month.
a little math will make us understand
as simple as that.
he does the push up
look there are no hands, he laughs.
there is no sadness in his eyes
just the glow of having to go
the eagerness of having to go on
sabbatical leave.
nervous laughter is heard
as he shifts from one joke to another.
he has three points: one must not stop dreaming.
second: one must help others realize their dreams
third: i miss this one. i have to go back and watch him again.
i guess i cried.
but i wipe my tears, and pretend that i feel nothing.

i can relate. Grandpa died of prostate cancer.
Papa died after Mama died. He could not wait dying
after another year.

well, what 's the worry? death is certain.
i think, there is nothing new here.

i, too, am moving, i may not know when, but i know where.
i just believe.

If I Died Today

if i died today
what would you say
if i died today
what would you do

would you cry
because i left you alone
or would you hate me
because we are bound by blood

if i died today
would you kill yourself
because you failed as my gaurdian

if you died today
id weep black tears
and as my soul shattered
id wish to be with you again
in our other world

but if i died today
you would try to bring me bak
even if it killed you
but in the very end you would realize
all i wanted
was for you to live
and to protect my body
so that i may once again return.

The Day Old Shep Died

it's been thirty years,
that he's been gone,
the day he died, brought tears,
all day, i played his song.

for nine long years,
i loved him and he loved me,
the day he died, broght tears,
toward the end, he could barely see.

when he died, i was seventeen years,
my child hood died that day,
the day he died, brought tears,
during his youth, we were always at play.

him and i was, so close in years,
when i got shep he was five and i eight,
the day he died brought tears,
he always ate his meals, off our plate.

he died at eighty-four in human years,
he lived to a ripe old age,
the day he died brought tears,
for this poem, he set the stage.

i can't believe, its been so many years,
i think about him, all the time,
the day he died, brought tears,
but old shep, was all mind.

of all these many years,
no dog has taken the place of old shep,
the day he died, brought tears,
i'll always remember, that dog with pep

in memory of old shep 1946-1960 written june 21,1990

The Truth About War

all wars are wrong!
war is killing masked in ideals.
most of the people killed
in wars are not soldiers,
- often women and children.

we dont have the right to invade,
to conquer, or to mold other countries.
we dont own them!
we dont even own the earth
we're living on.

killing is wrong.
all of life is sacred.
we dont have the right
to take another's life.
we dont have the right
to play God...
we're not even very good
at being human.

fear, insecurity, greed...
no matter what the propaganda,
it's all lies!
the act of war is
the act of murder....

democracy doesnt take by force...
it allows human choice to prevail.
war is the machine of the soulless,
peace is a conscious decision!
