What I Have Seen #3

I saw two youths: both were fair in the face,
They had set out foot to foot in life's race;
But one said to the other, 'I say now, my brother,
You are going a little too slow;
The world will look on, and say, 'See Josy John,'
We must put on more style, now, you know.'

So he tipped a plug hat on one side of his pate,
And strutted along with a Jockey Club gait;
And he carried a cane, and said, 'It is plain,
I am too fine a fellow to toil.
I can gamble and bet, and a good living get;
But my hands are too pretty to soil.

'My friend in the rear, you are slow, I am fast;
I am up with the times-I am first, you are last.
So I guess I will leave you-aw, if it won't grieve you;
I'll wait for you when I get through;
Or, when up on the hill, I'll remem-bah you still,
And-aw, mayhap I'll come and help you.'

I saw him pass on with a strut through the street;
Saw him stopped by a score of 'good boys' for a treat.
While the calm 'Josy John' went quietly on,
And kept his lips free from the bowl;
Worked at whatever came, turned from sin and from shame,
And wrote 'Purity,' 'Truth,' in his soul.

I saw two men: one was fair to behold;
The other, a drunken sot, bloated and bold.
One stood on the mountain and drank of God's fountain,
The other drank beer in the street.
Yet both started alike; but one made a 'strike,'
Which ended, you see, in defeat.

Roseville

Since All Of My Remembering
Of Times So Innocent And So Clean
These Images Rush In With A Roar
Of Times And Acts That Were A Horror

My Folks Moved To Roseville When We Were So Young
To Protect Us From The Hazards Of A World Gone Wrong
Little Did They Know What A Mess They've Made
By Moving Us Out Here A Price Would Be Paid

A Childhood Spent Having Innocent Fun
Between 5 And Eight With My Friends We'd Run
Playing In The Fields Across The Street
Little Did We Know Just What We'd Meet

Older Boys Came Along Just To Play With Us
Spinning Us Around, Beneath Our Skirts With Thrusts
Diddling All Around In Between Our Legs
Little Did We Know We Were Being Pegged

They Would Fumble Here And Grumble There
Unzipping Their Old Trousers Just To Have A Share
Being Little Girls, What All Did We Know
We'd Just Play Along Until They Would Go

This Type Of Thing Went On Every Spring Til Fall
We'd Be Wondering What They Were Doing At All
We Were Happy That They Would Take Time With Us
We Were Just So Young What Was All The Fuss

Then One Day A Big Brother Of My Friend Appeared
Said To The Other Older Boy's "Hands Off My Sisters, Hear? "
In My Mind It All Then Became Oh So Clear
That These Older Boys Were Just Being Queer

The Next Time That They All Came Running Around
I Said I Don't Like The Way You Want To Play Around
But They Didn't Listen All And Penetrated My Best Friend
I Ran As Fast As I Could Hoping It Would End

But I Was Chased And That Raji Did Say
Don't Tell Anyone As I Ran Away
But I Cut My Foot To The Bone So Cruel
Being So Innocent, Didn't Know What To Do

Didn't Tell My Mom, Didn't Tell My Dad
I Was So Ashamed That I'd Been So Had
How Could Playing Around Turn To Something So Foul
So I Wrapped My Foot And Began To Howl

Did This Kind Of Thing Happen Everywhere
With Everyone Around, Not Even Saying Whats Fair
We Believed In The Justice Of Living Out A Good Life
How Could So Much Go Wrong And Cause So Much Strife

Living In Roseville Did Mess Up My Head
With So Many Queer Folk Boys And Men So Dead
To The Rights And The Thoughts Of What's All Good And Fair
With Their Pedophilic Actions To Do Such Wrong Down There

These Are My Images Of Growing Up So Serene
And Protected From The Filth Of Detroit And That Scene
What A Joke Now Do I So Realize
That Living In Roseville Was Just A Cradle Of Lies

I'm sorry for my suicidal note...

Good bye, Good luck, and I'm sorry
The bloods rushing to fast
I can't plug it
So now I will chug it
And my pills are blocking my door

Don't wait, Say goodbye, and I'm sorry
It's filling my empty stomach
I saw my life
Gave into my strife
And the bottle is my only resolve

Don't stop me, Don't cry, and I'm sorry
Wait,
now I'm going triple fold
The knife is now in my hold
As I rake this across my skin

It's okay, Don't look back, and I'm sorry
It tastes just as nasty as you said
I wrote this note
Thinking you needed a coat
But I guess I'm still leaving you cold

I'm fine, Stop listening, and I'm sorry
I guess it was as bad as you thought
As I closed my door
And scattered my instruments on the floor
I know I will never sing anymore

Don't worry, I can't tell you, and I'm sorry
All my secrets you will never know
As I scream silently
And give up finally
And the blood coats the carpet

Don't give up, It's not worth it, and I'm sorry
I guess all my advice was useless
I ended up losing
And ended up choosing
The death of a lost and stupid soul

Don't try, I'm not listening, and I'm sorry
I wanted to give to the world
But now I'll be dead
Already in my head
And I'm almost done with suicide note

I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry
My visions starting to blur
I must hurry and write
And with with all my might
End this suicidal note

I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry
I don't see that vision of light
I guess God's left me, that's fair
And I must despair
Now the torture, I guess, must begin

I'm truly sorry, truly sorry, truly sorry
My hands feel so numb and dead
I must leave soon
I'm headed toward my doom
I think life still wasn't worth this

Forgive me, I'm sorry, forgive me....
I must say I'm sorry you've found me
But the sky is stil as starry
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry
So please, tell everyone I'm so sorry

This was written by me, but I'm close, but I havent totally given up, this is just what I'm thinking....

I sung sometimes

I sung sometimes my thoughts’ and fancy's pleasure,
Where then I list, or time serv’d best and leisure,
While Daphne did invite me
To supper once, and drank to me to spite me.
I smil’d, yet still did doubt her,
And drank where she had drank before, to flout her.
But oh while I did eye her,
My eyes drank love, my lips drank burning fire.

At 13 years of age
Answer the 2 of life and death
When it slaps him in the face?

And all hes got is the sense 2 know
That a life of crimell help him beat u in the race
Help him beat u in the race (help him beat u in the race)

A whirlwind designed 2 slow u down
It cuts like a knife and tries 2 get in u
This spooky electric sound
Give up if u want 2 and all is lost
Spooky electric will be your boss
Call people magazine, rolling stone
Call your next of kin, cuz your ass is gone
Hes got a 57 mag with the price tag still on the side
Cuzzin when spooky say dead, u better say died
Or u can fly high right by spooky and all that he crawls 4

Alcohol

When I was nearly round the bend
I turned to you,
I had a drink or two,
I thought that you would help, False Friend!
And so I drank and drank and drank,
And hoped that you would fill the void!
But look at me now, defeated and destroyed,
My misery will never end,
What can I do?
Where is my hope?
Where are the things that I enjoyed?
How can I cope?

By finishing with you, False Friend!
This is the End! !

Extraordinary Machine

I certainly haven't been shopping for any new shoes
And I certainly haven't been spreading myself around
I still only travel by foot and by foot it's a slow climb
But I'm good at being uncomfortable so I can't stop changing all the time
I noticed that my opponent is always on the go
And won't go slow so as not to focus and I notice
He'll hitch a ride with any guide as long as they go fast from whence he came
But he's no good at being uncomfortable so he can't stop staying exactly the same
If there was a better way to go then it would find me
I can't help it the road just rolls out behind me
Be kind to me or treat me mean
I make the most of it I'm an extraordinary machine
I seem to you to seek a new disaster every day
You deem me due to clean my view and be at peace and lay
I mean to prove I mean to move in my own way
And say I've been getting along for long before you came into the play
I am the baby of the family
It happens so everybody cares
And wears the sheeps clothes while they chaperone
Furious you're looking down your nose at me while you appease
Courteous to try and help but let me set your mind at ease
If there was a better way to go then it would find me
I can't help it the road just rolls out behind me
Be kind to me or treat me mean
I make the most of it I'm an extraordinary machine
Do I so worry you?
You need to hurry to my side? Its very kind
But it's to no avail
I don't want the veil or flowers
No everything will be just fine
If there was a better way to go then it would find me
I can't help it the road just rolls out behind me
Be kind to me or treat me mean
I make the most of it I'm an extraordinary machine

Wheres The Party

Working monday through friday
Takes up all of my time
If I can get to the weekend
Everything will work out just fine
Thats when I can go crazy
Thats when I can have fun
Time to be with my baby
Time to come undone
Chorus:
Wheres the party, I want to free my soul
Wheres the party, I want to lose control
Wheres the party, I want to free my soul
Wheres the party, I want to lose control
Couldnt wait to get older
Thought Id have so much fun
Guess Im one of the grown-ups
Now I have to get the job done
People give me the business
Im not living in fear
Im just living in chaos
Gotta get away from here
(chorus)
Intermediate:
Dont want to grow old too fast
Dont want to let the system get me down
Ive got to find a way to make the good times last
And if youll show me how, Im ready now
Slow down you move too fast
Gonna make the good times last
Gonna let my hair hang down
Im ready now
(repeat)
Wheres the party
Wheres the party, someone tell me
Wheres the party, come on, come on, come on
Wheres the party
(intermediate)
(chorus)
Slow down you move too fast
Gonna make the good times last
Gonna let my hair hang down
Im ready now
(repeat)
Wheres the party
Wheres the party, someone tell me
Wheres the party, come on, come on, come on
Wheres the party
We can make it all right
We can make you dance, we can make a party last all night
(repeat until end)

Street Of Dreams

I heard the sound of voices in the night
Spellbound there was someone calling
I looked around no one was in sight
Pulled down I just kept on falling
Ive seen this place before
You were standing by my side
Ive seen your face before tonight
Maybe I just see what I want it to be
I know its a mystery
Do you remember me on a street of dreams
Running through my memory
On the street of dreams
There you stood a distant memory
So good like we never parted
Said to myself I knew youd set me free
And here we are right back where we started
Soemthings come over me
And I dont know what to feel
Maybe this fantasy is real
Now I know I see what I want it to be
But its still a mystery
Do you remember me on the street of dreams
Running through my memory
On the street of dreams
You are on every face I see
On the street of dreams
Solo
Tell me have you always been
On the street of dreams
Will we ever meet again my friend
Do you know just what it meand to be
On the street of dreams
Never know just who youll see do ya
On the street of dreams
You can be who you want to be oh yeah
I can hear you calling me
I can feel you haunting me
Haunting me

English Sons

One, two, three, four
Girl, on the edge flippin off the lamp
Therell be an end darling to your endless night
On the other side of the street.
Yea, the light on your portrait and the light in your face
And youll be looking for another pretty place
Baby, this side of the street.
Well, keep dreaming baby that your desire brings and girl
I know the sadness that you find in things, its true
Well, baby if you cant take the heat, what can I do?
Well, you and your poetry and your boku (? !) world
Behind the face you hide the face of a modern girl
On the other side of the street.
Yea, youve got the look as if you owe the world
Therefore, you go out there and say what you can earn
On the wrong side of the street.
Well, you tire of every day bringing the same and so you
Go out looking for some strange new games
Well, pretty soon you dont know the score anymore.
All right now........... (guitar break)
I know the danger that your desire brings
And I know the strangeness that youll find
Wait and it will seem straighter for you and for me.
Well, turn on the end and baby turn off the lamps
Therell be an end darling to this endless night
On the other side of the street.
Yea, and everyday - well- it just brings the same
You started looking for some very strange new games
On the wrong side of the street.
Well, you and your desires lead to confusion
Well, walk away as I dont follow your illusions
And see, open your eyes and see, girl.
All right..........

Stories Of Hope Series #12 Forsaken

My heart was forsaken by the one I loved
She said my love wasn’t good enough.
If I truly loved her I would give her the material things
Necklaces, pearls, and diamond rings.
She said that love is in the giving
Without these things life is not worth living.

That’s when I decided to change my tune
I couldn’t get away too soon.
I took my heart and hid it deep in my chest
And to protect it I would do my best.
I became like a zombie- mindless and blank
And my heart I did forsake.

Surrounded by people that I did not see
Feeling hurt and angry as can be.
Friends and family started to pull away.
there was nothing left for them to say.

Then I was walking home from work one night
I glanced down the street, there was this
Woman rubbing her feet.
As I got closer I could see that her ankle
Was as swollen as can be.

Can I help you? Do you need a hand?
She answered: well! “If you could
Help me try to stand.”
Her foot so swollen she screamed in pain
Trying to walk would be in vain.

I asked her: where do you live?
She said: “up the block- the house on the corner
On the second floor.”
I knew that she could not walk no more.

I swooped her up in my arms, and started down the street
The smell of her perfume delicious and sweet.
I had never really looked at her face until then
She had light brown hair, and eyes as well
When I felt my heart begin to swell.
A smile from ear to ear, and of me she had no fear.

I carried her all the way home, and up the steps
To her door. (I felt as if I had been here before)
I asked: do you need a hand to get in?
She looked at me with a grin.
She said: you carried me this far, if you’d like
Some coffee, I’ll open the jar.”

I opened the door and carried her to a chair
The apartment looked small and comfortable
And quite fair.
I said: I’ll make the coffee! You just sit and rest
I’m not good at this, but I’ll do my best.
I made the coffee and we sat and talked
Time passed by quickly and we didn’t know
That the sun was coming up, and it was time to go.
The sun shone thru the blinds creating reflections
On the mirrored wall.
Prisms of light surrounded our faces
And we saw our faces all aglow
It was truly amazing and quite a show.
I asked her if I could see her again
And hopefully become more than a friend.
She said: I would really like that to.
So I told her I will call on you.
My heart had finally become free, and took me
Out of this misery.
For six months we dated and enjoyed each others company
The riches I gave her, she gave back to me.
Love has no price, but yet worth more than gold
And it is something that we can truly hold.
Not in our hands but in our hearts, and it becomes the biggest part.
We had become more than friends, and I guess you know the end.
HOPE IS THE KEY TO SET OURSELVES FREE.

Holiday At Race Course

Went to race course dismissing idea of casino.
It was really something different to go.
I was excited to watch some thing live
instead losing in gamble in smoky light.

Horse race, a joint work of man and animal,
again a combination of sports and gamble.
Accompanied my friend who was bit experienced,
he selected racetrack and horse to win the bet.

The pony looked having better winning chance
judged he was happy, peppy and eager to race.
Jockey was also smart and had good ride style
I did nothing but followed my friend with smile.

I too dared to risk my ten dollars on same pony,
it was unknown, on whom we put the money.
It's past performance matrix and about training,
even about the jockey we were not knowing.

Lucky day was it, for the horse chosen by us
We returned happy, added few dollar to vault

Lines On H---'s Foot

It may be you've seen her eyes,
Dark and deep like midnight skies;
You mayhap have seen them flash
Underneath the drooping lash,
And been dazzled by the light
Of those orbs, so dark and bright;
But-have you seen her foot,
In its little gaiter boot?

You have noticed, maybe, how
The lily spreads from chin to brow.
You have thought her cheek more fair
Than if roses lingered there;
(Roses would seem out of place
On her pale patrician face)
But-again I question you,
Have you seen her tiny shoe?

You have thought her mouth, no doubt,
Like a blush-rose half blown out;
Small and sweet, withal, beside,
Touched with scorn and curved with pride;
(Innate pride-not meant to chill)-
You have seen it there, and still-
Answer one more question, pray-
Have you seen her boot? I say.

Such a tiny, tiny thing,
Is that foot of which I sing;
No. 3 would hide it so
It could not be found, I know.
No. 2 must stand aside
All too long and large and wide,
No. 1
must
be the boot
For this maiden's little foot.

You may envy, sir, the clerk
In the shoe-store, hard at work,
Who tries the gaiter boot
On this cunning little foot.
On his knee, supporting it,
Saying, 'It's a perfect fit,'
Buttoning on the No. 1,
Looking sorry, when it's done.

You have seen her, slight and neat,
As she tripped along the street,
You have
heard
the pit-pat-fall
Of that foot so very small.
That she's fair, and pure, and good,
Bright, and sweet is understood,
But-have you
seen
that foot-
In its dainty gaiter boot?

With all glitters

She knocked the gate
Stood out side and preferred to wait
I was fast asleep and dreamed about her
Where as she was out side with gentle smile there

Another gentle knock and I was troubled
As if someone had really struggled
To enter the life from back door
Here she was out side but waiting to be in door

I rushed at the gate to see the stranger
But found beautiful moon with no anger
She might have waited for long
But I was dreaming unconsciously wrong

"Will you not let me in" she enquired
I replied apologetically and simple offered
Free passage with forced smile on face
As it was feared some thing else

"I am here to be with you" she gently smiled
I knew it can't be anything else with nice style
In dream I was dancing in club with her on floor
Where as she was worried and stood at the door

"I hope you have made up mind and got ready"
I had conveyed it number of times and was steady
There was no question of sending her back at night
She has now taken the decision and she must be simply right

We had seen many ups and down with indecisions
It was now right time to be seen together with relation
We were honest enough to weigh pro and cons from all aspects
Now it was needed to give fair signal with all the acts

It was moon light month with all glitters
Stars and sky were the witness to be looked after
They were our natural alley and stood side by
She was in jovial mood now to give fair try

We have no more reasons to explain it to anybody
As it is our own affair and we needed nobody
We both looked at each other and greeted
I had only pretty eyes to look at and feted

Ambrose Bierce

In Upper San Francisco

I heard that Heaven was bright and fair,
And politicians dwelt not there.

'Twas said by knowing ones that they
Were in the Elsewhere-so to say.

So, waking from my last long sleep,
I took my place among the sheep.

I passed the gate-Saint Peter eyed
Me sharply as I stepped inside.

He thought, as afterward I learned,
That I was Chris, the Unreturned.

The new Jerusalem-ah me,
It was a sorry sight to see!

The mansions of the blest were there,
And mostly they were fine and fair;

But O, such streets!-so deep and wide,
And all unpaved, from side to side!

And in a public square there grew
A blighted tree, most sad to view.

From off its trunk the bark was ripped
Its very branches all were stripped!

An angel perched upon the fence
With all the grace of indolence.

'Celestial bird,' I cried, in pain,
'What vandal wrought this wreck? Explain.'

He raised his eyelids as if tired:
'What is a Vandal?' he inquired.

'This is the Tree of Life. 'Twas stripped
By Durst and Siebe, who have shipped

'The bark across the Jordan-see?
And sold it to a tannery.'

'Alas,' I sighed, 'their old-time tricks!
That pavement, too, of golden bricks

'They've gobbled that?' But with a scowl,
'You greatly wrong them,' said the fowl:

''Twas Gilleran did that, I fear-
Head of the Street Department here.'

'What! what!' cried I-'you let such chaps
Come here? You've Satan, too, perhaps.'

'We had him, yes, but off he went,
Yet showed some purpose to repent;

'But since your priests and parsons filled
The place with those their preaching killed'

(Here Siebe passed along with Durst,
Psalming as if their lungs would burst)

'He swears his foot no more shall press
('Tis cloven, anyhow, I guess)

'Our soil. In short, he's out on strike
But devils are not all alike.'

Lo! Gilleran came down the street,
Pressing the soil with broad, flat feet!

End Of Line

End of the Line

Old man, yes, you who walk near the houses on the pavement
down the street using a cane, is there something wrong with
your hips? Hey! Old man when you see a group of youngsters
standing by the corner you feel fear, and if they make fun of
the way you walk you pretend not to hear only try to walk faster.
It didn’t used to be like this you looked the world in the eye as
you broad shouldered swaggered down the street of life, no one
dared to challenge you then; you didn’t know it was going to end
like this. Hey! Old man your life is behind you and your future is
the grave, and your walk often takes you to the cemetery where
you often go and read the names of people you used to know.
You live in pain- tell me way- most of the time, watch irrelevant
news TV, while drinking a little whisky. Every Saturday you go
the café and drink beer with other old men, only there are so few
of them now. Hey! Old man with a foot in the grave, in your dream
you are still virile and when you wake up you feel young until you
see the cane or your face in the unforgiving mirror. Yet you go on
living your loveless life in the hope of seeing another spring and
see the blossoming of the almond tree.

Country Roads ~ Pretty Sally

The diggers came from Bendigo,
From Albury the drovers,
From where the Goulburn waters flow
Came bearded teamsters travelling slow.
And all the brown bush rovers;
And where the road goes winding still
To dropp to Melbourne valley,
They sought the shanty by the hill,
And called for beer and drank their fill,
And sparked with Pretty Sally.

The teamsters halted by the door
To give their horses water
And stood about the bar room floor
To ogle, while they had one more,
The shanty keeper's daughter.
Diggers with gold from creek to claim
About her used to rally,
Shearers and booted stockmen came
And to the hill they gave her name,
For all loved Pretty Sally.

I see her now; a sparkling lass
Brim-full of fun and laughter.
And where the slow teams used to pass,
And swagmen paused to beg a glass,
Now motor cars speed after.
And when I seek the road anew
That dips down to the valley,
I see again that bearded crew,
And, of the lovers, wonder who
At last wed Pretty Sally.

Where Have All The Good Times Gone

Well, lived my life and never stopped to worry bout a thing
Opened up and shouted out and never tried to sing
Wondering if Id done wrong
Will this depression last for long?
Wont you tell me
Where have all the good times gone?
Where have all the good times gone?
Well, once we had an easy ride and always felt the same
Time was on our side and I had everything to gain
Let it be like yesterday
Please let me have happy days
Wont you tell me
Where have all the good times gone?
Where have all the good times gone?
Ma and pa look back at all the things they used to do
Didnt have no money and they always told the truth
Daddy didnt have no toys
And mummy didnt need no boys
Wont you tell me
Where have all the good times gone?
Where have all the good times gone?
Well, yesterday was such an easy game for you to play
But lets face it things are so much easier today
Guess you need some bringing down
And get your feet back on the ground
Wont you tell me
Where have all the good times gone?
Where have all the good times gone?
Where have all the good times gone?

Where Have All The Good Times Gone!

All my life Ive never stopped to worry 'bout a thing,
Open up and shout it out,an never try to sing,
Wondering if Ive done it wrong,
Will this depression last for long, wont you tell me,
Where have all the good times gone.
Where have all the good times gone.
Where have all the good times gone.
Once we had an easy ride and always felt the same,
Time was on our side and we had everything to gain,
This could be like yesterday,
Is thst me with your happydays,
Where have all the good times gone.
Where have all the good times gone.
Where have all the good times gone.
Ma and pa look back on all the things they used to do,
Never had no money and they always told the truth,
Daddy didnt need no little toys,
Mommy didnt need no little boys, wont you tell me,
Where have all the good times gone.
Where have all the good times gone.
Where have all the good times gone.
Ow!
Yesterday was such an easy game for you to play,
Ah but then lets face it,things are easier today,
Yes you need some bringing down,
Get your feet back on the ground,
Where have all the good times gone.
Where have all the good times gone.
Where have all the good times gone.
Where have all the good times gone.
Where have all the good times gone.

Pure And Untouched

there is the other side of the mountain
made of dessert sand
nothing interesting in there
no gems,
everything diamond-like
is just imagination

when a friend asks about this side
we tell all these lies
that at its foot is a comfortable cottage
that beside it is a river
there is a white horse,
birds often make a stop-over here
trees are fruiting
and flowers bloom all year long

to be fair
there is also something true and beautiful in that
other side

but no one knows it except you
and on that same side of the mountain
you still make lies

afraid that someone shall take it away from you
because you are weak
and cannot protect it
from the invasion of the masses
from the shallowness of their minds
their incapacity to understand that in there
everything is good and can be seen and felt
but not a bit shall be taken

it is the world where the spectator must view
the world with respect
because it is untouched because it remains
to be itself

untaken, untouchable,
pure, and hence can never be us.
