Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Songs Of A Country Home

I

Who has not felt his heart leap up, and glow
What time the tulips first begin to blow,
Has one sweet joy, still left for him to know.

It is like early loves' imagining;
That fragile pleasure, which the Tulips bring,
When suddenly we see them, in the Spring.

Not all the gardens later royal train,
Not great triumphant Roses, when they reign,
Can bring that delicate delight again.

II

One of the sweetest hours is this;
(Of all I think we like it best
A little restful oasis,
Between the breakfast, and the post.
Just south of coffee, and of toast,
Just north of daily task and duty;
Just west of dreams, this Island gleams,
A fertile spot of peace and beauty.

We wander out across the lawn;
We idle by a bush in bloom;
The Household pets come following on;
Or if the day is one of gloom,
We loiter in a pleasant room
Or from a casement, lean and chatter.
Then comes the mail, like sudden hail,
And off we scatter.

III

When roses die, in languid August days,
We leave the Garden, to its fallen ways;
And seek the shelter of wide porticos,
Where Honeysuckle, in defiance blows
Undaunted by the Sun's too ardent rays.

The matron Summer, turns a wistful gaze
Across green valleys, back to tender Mays;
And something of her large contentment goes,
When roses die.

Yet all her subtle fascination stays
To lure us into idle sweet delays.
The lowered awning, by the hammock shows
Inviting nooks for dreaming and repose;
Oh, restful are the pleasures of those days
When roses die.

IV

The summer folk, fled back to town;
The green woods changed to red and brown;
A sound upon the frosty air
Of windows closing everywhere.

And then the log, lapped by a blaze.
Oh, what is better than these days;
With books and friends and love a-near;
Go on, gay world, but leave me here.

Spring Flowers ~ Tulips

Tulips shyly smiling, greet the spring
Tightly closed when at
First we meet
Tulips slowly opening, begin to sing
Gaining volume
Ever sweet

No longer shy, as days grow longer,
Raising their heads
They begin to flirt
Tulips dressed in many a color
Breezes swirling
Each floral skirt

Tulips, brazen painted hussies,
Part their bright lips trying to seduce
The busy buzzing bees
Far too bold for dainty tussies
Vibrant Tulip flowers produce
Visions certain to please

Loves About To Change My Heart

I never needed someone
cos I always led a life of my own
Never waited for the ring of the phone
Never had anyone here
When I got home
But loves about to change my heart
Im waiting for the doorbell to chime
When I always lived one day at a time
I thought that I was getting on fine
Never felt I was alone
til you change your mind
Loves about to change my heart
Could a day be so long
When I always felt secure and so strong
And all the time as I went along
Never thought I would desire
So much to belong
Loves about to change my heart
Loves about to change my heart, ooh
Never ever thought the sky was so blue
Never ever thought Id feel so new
Always thought Id know what to do
But I guess I wasnt counting on you
What did I know
I always felt so much on control
I thought Id make it all on my own
Never thought I would forget
All I have known
Loves about to change my heart
Loves about to change my heart
Loves about to change, change, change
My heart...

This Heart

This heart belongs to you
Please take care of it
For it is fragile

This heart needs a little care
So be kind and fair

Love this heart for this heart loves you

This heart loves you always
So please love it always in return

It loves you with out fear
It loves you from here to here

It loves from begining to end
It loves you with no means to offend.

This fragile heart does nothing but love you.
i ask this of you simply love it to.

Blow Your Mind

Written by jay kay and toby smith
Love ya
I need ya
I think I wanna squeeze ya
Nightly so tightly, girl you know you really blow my mind
Say it again,
Just one more time,
Ive got to know,
How you came to blow my mind
Closer,
Pleasure, passion
Tonites the night Im looking for your action
I want to hold you,
Dont you know this time you blow my mind
Say it again,
Just one more time,
Ive got to know,
How you came to blow my mind
Closer,
Fever, hot now,
Help me wipe the sweet away from my brow,
Sexy oh lady,
Dont you know this time you blow my mind
Say it again,
Just one more time,
Ive got to know,
How you came to blow my mind
Closer,
Oh dont you know yeah,
Dont you know by now that now you blow my mind
Oh yes you do. oh yes you do,
Oh yes you blow my mind...

Every Angle

I'm imagining your frame
every angle
and every plane
I'm imagining your smell
the one that mingled with mine
once upon a time
thoughts of you
are picketing my brain
they refuse
to work such long hours without rest
in unstable conditions at best
they're out there every day
holding up there signs
and thoughts of no other man but you
could possibly get through
the picket lines
to enter into my mind

I'm imagining your laugh again
the one you save for your family
and your very
close
friends
I'm imagining the way you say my name
I don't know when
I'm going to hear it again
my friends can't tell
my laughter from my cries
someone tell this photograph of you
to let go of my eyes

I'm imagining your frame
I'm imagining your smell
I'm imagining your laugh again
and the way you say my name

Too Young For Love

Too young for love?
Ah, say not so!
Tell reddening rose-buds not to blow
Wait not for spring to pass away,--
Love's summer months begin with May!
Too young for love?
Ah, say not so!
Too young? Too young?
Ah, no! no! no!

Too young for love?
Ah, say not so,
To practise all love learned in May.
June soon will come with lengthened day
While daisies bloom and tulips glow!

Too young for love?
Ah, say not so!
Too young? Too young?
Ah, no! no! no!

The Chill Of An Early Fall

Well her old friend, from her own end of town dropped by today,
And way down deep inside me something died
When he came 'round to see her that way.
Here it comes again, that same old chilly wind
Will blow like a cold winter squall.
And I'll begin to feel the chill of an early fall.
And I'll be drinking again and thinking whenever he calls,
There's a storm coming on, it won't be too long till the snow falls.
Oh I'll be sobersome,
But when October comes and goes and no time at all
I'll begin to feel the chill of an early fall.
Oh how quick they slip away, here today and gone tomorrow.
Love and seasons never stay, bitter winds are sure to follow.
Now there's no doubt, it's gonna be cold out tonight;
I've shivered all day, and when I look in her eyes
Needing to hold her so tight, she just looks away.
Oh she'll swear that it's true, he's just someone she knew
Long ago, and I'll know that's not all,
And I'll begin to feel the chill of an early fall.
Oh I'll begin to feel the chill of an early fall.

The wind will blow where and when it wants to blow

The wind will blow where and when it wants to blow
Sweeping along devastation or prosperity along its path
Todays sorrow, tomorrows horrow or perhaps a loving hero
But you! Have been swept here to occupy my lonely heart

You are that gentle flowing breeze
You are a warm summers tease
There's room in my heart for you to squeeze
And do to me amorously as you please

The wind will blow where and when it wants to blow
Sometimes springing up nice surprises to be exact
Please stop contemplating on what may follow
Let us begin the getting-to-know each other for a start

You are that preserving cherubic smell
Evidently airing my inner senses quite well
It is completely difficult for me to tell
Why your scent stimulates all my bodily cells

Sweet and sour with you, we could shower
By the hour blessed with our loving power,
Together we can flourish as we flower
For the wind has blown to us love that is ours

The wind will blow where and when it wants to blow
Hold tight; split us not apart as we about start
I know your spirits are low, you want to go slow
Assuring yourself before you set upon my fragile heart

If we postpone, I have this inclination
The wind will head towards another direction
Without hesitation and any apparent indication
Leaving behind no room for further investigation

The wind will blow where and when it wants to blow
You need to catch what it is about to throw
No one can predict what may be about to follow
But true love itself in time will grow not go

You are that pacifying touch
A mild soothing winter’s scotch
That warms a throat so much
Change the gears on your clutch
While we sit back and watch
As we sow seeds of affection
In these perfect conditions without friction

Remember, remember!
The wind will blow where and when it wants to blow

She's Breakable

She's breakable
She's fragile
Will you catch her if she falls?
Better watch what you say
She takes things the hard way
She's breakable
She's fragile
Will you keep her all togeather?
The wind will blow her away
If she thinks doesn't you want her to stay
She's breakable
She's fragile
Will you keep her heart from pain?

Joy and Pleasure

Now, joy is born of parents poor,
And pleasure of our richer kind;
Though pleasure's free, she cannot sing
As sweet a song as joy confined.

Pleasure's a Moth, that sleeps by day
And dances by false glare at night;
But Joy's a Butterfly, that loves
To spread its wings in Nature's light.

Joy's like a Bee that gently sucks
Away on blossoms its sweet hour;
But pleasure's like a greedy Wasp,
That plums and cherries would devour.

Joy's like a Lark that lives alone,
Whose ties are very strong, though few;
But Pleasure like a Cuckoo roams,
Makes much acquaintance, no friends true.

Joy from her heart doth sing at home,
With little care if others hear;
But pleasure then is cold and dumb,
And sings and laughs with strangers near.

The castle built

You had left me.
I felt quite sad.
It gave me pleasure yet
That I would live in your thought.

Now if you treat me
Like a left-over
My sorrow will go;
With that does my pain.
Also with it, my pleasure.
And you, too, from my brain.

You will have no pleasure
Of captivating me any more

Castles built
Will be split.

In My Head

Should be enough to love someone
Just be happy theyre alive
Do you have to know what theyre doing
Like a job from nine to five
But the big bad wolf is coming
Singing he la la whats new
Hes going to blow our fragile house in
And run away with you
Oh wont you stay
Here for a day
In my head
And a walk is such a long way
When you have to get to her
An infinily of individual steps
Separates you from that girl
But the big bad wolf is coming
Singing he la la whats new
Hes going to blow our fragile house in
And run away with you
Oh wont you stay
Here for a day
In my head
All the things you tried to do
All those times you could never see it through
Everything you thought that you knew
Melted away
Left you no truth
Should be enough to love someone
Just be happy shes alive
Do you have to know that she hates you
Like a job from nine to five
And every time you talk to her
She seems to like you less
Was it all a misunderstanding
Just a big elaborate test
But the big bad wolf is coming
Singing he la la whats new
Hes going to blow our fragile house in
And run away with you
Oh wont you stay
Here for a day
In my head

My Loves Wedding

One said, its a secret
So don't say to anyone
Said, she is marrying
That she is, my love
The one, don't knew it

Heart stopped for second
And started to pain badly
My throat too had felt it
But my lips had smiled
And said, its good news

The one said me date
And told me to come
By then heart was broken
But my lips still smiled
Said, wish i can do so

The one started to say
About my loves only love
So my ears were on job
And lips carried the talk
But rest of me had died

The one told me all
About my loves love
Then my dead heart felt
My loves love is better
Far far better than me

So I wiped my eyes
Said bye to the one
And placed hand on heart
Said, its time to sing
For my only loves wedding

Wedding, which i can't go
My broken heart is weak
It can't break down more
But its each broken piece
Sings a happy marry life

Forever to my loves wedding

The Awakening

As the morning lights gentle touch
In loves embrace it finds me here

In thy perfect love so near
It casts away all care and fear

It nullifies the great illusion
Imbues my soul with loves infusion

In this place there's no confusion
A love so real no passing illusion

And in this peace that I abide
I begin to see the turning tide

Of loves sweet power from inside
My heart and soul at once collide

Love becomes the heart of me
In Loves eternal harmony

Withered

My heart beats the same
but nothings left standing
these fragile bones has giving in
as the weather begin to deter
my end. Life as its been
has crossed and my time in the spot light
has died out. As no one remembers,
as a memory is just that,
a thought to be forgotten
the mightiest have fell victim
and be left as ashes in the wind
a name to recollect as it passes by
a whisper from my ear to yours
and as i slowly rot in this time
forgotten by everyone.
Everything i ever held near
is gone in a blink of an eye
i see the mystery in my error
to believe all puzzles could be built
see all wound heal in time
but time doesn't heal all wound
for a mental scar shall
tarnish even the purest of us
as the spot light's only for a minute
how long that minute last
is how strong at heart you are
so as the insect eat what's left on
these withered bones
one last breath is all i ask
to shine one last time

Enough For Us to Know

You magnify more than just love in my mind.
I can not define it!
And to say it is love alone...
Seems so limiting.

You bring to me a radiance and glow.
Only my heart feels it without description.
In my head my mind has you there all the time.
I envision us in a togetherness.
A completeness felt,
Others say they can not find.

A void of emptiness I had experienced is gone.

You magnify more than just love in my mind.
I can not define it!
And I waste no time...
Trying to understand why it is you that comes,
To occupy my life like this...
With an easiness for me to welcome.

You bring to me a radiance and glow.
Only my heart feels it without description.
In my head my mind has you there all the time.
I envision us in a togetherness.
A completeness felt,
Others say they can not find.

And I am left feeling happiness for us.
In a devoted loyality...
I neither doubt or question.
Or confuse with lust.

To have such a blessing bestowed...
Is enough for us to know and trust.
As it within us,
Seems to nurture and grow.

Glowing and showing it...
As it grows to glow.
With you and I alone knowing,
What it is that is there to love.
And we are in it to give and receive.
That is all I know we have and can believe.

Your Loves Been A Long Time Coming

(words & music by r. bourke)
The first time I saw you I knew I was hooked on somebody other than me
The first time I held you, your soft lips and blue eyes
Were as far as my eyes could see
Yes here in my arms I knew I had found the reason that Im living for
And I felt the feeling, such a wonderful feeling
That Id never felt before
Baby, youre loves been a long time coming
Baby your loves got a hold on me
Baby your loves sure got me humming
Baby your loves been a long time coming
Deep in my heart theres a feeling I never knew
Until I saw a love that was very new
Im gonna tell everyone what good love can do
Baby, youre loves been a long time coming
Baby your loves got a hold on me
Baby your loves sure got me humming
Baby your loves been a long time coming
Baby, youre loves been a long time coming
Baby your loves got a hold on me

Struggle for Time

Time sits still when you want it to pass
Tic-Toc goes the seconds, Re-united at last
But this Time, I felt like the clock was against me
It didnt want this to happen
Yet Time for you, gave you time to be
to be yourself and to above all be free
But time for me, felt like slavery
Locked down in a prison of bitter-sweet savory
Time for you gave you time to let others in
Time for me stopped, I couldnt tell when again It'd begin
While Time worked against me, I fought back in a counter-clockwise direction
Pushing the forces of time in reverse,
But then I realized fighting time, let Time win
Because time ran on its own schedule
And though time is of the essence, time hasnt given me his blessings
And now Time for me, has run out
Time took hope with him too
Just when I thought time took all that it could,
Time rushed back in, and took all that was good
Time left me broke, so I worked hard for that overtime pay
But Time rushed back in, and took that away
I said I'd get it another day
So Time decided to leave me stuck in the past
I decided to sleep. Hoping Time would leave me atlast
And leave my eloped hope with me, and all that is good in peace
Time left in my dreams that night, And i woke up to the
Tic-Toc of the seconds, and I was re-united at last
