Anger Lay By Me
Anger lay by me all night long,
His breath was hot upon my brow,
He told me of my burning wrong,
All night he talked and would not go.
He stood by me all through the day,
Struck from my hand the book, the pen;
He said: ‘Hear first what I’ve to say,
And sing, if you’ve the heart to, then.’
And can I cast him from my couch?
And can I lock him from my room?
Ah no, his honest words are such
That he’s my true-lord, and my doom.

Listening To Agujetas
Sing, old man, those true songs of fire,
Songs that were too old for this air
Before you yourself were ever born.
Hammer those words against the night
As, once, you struck at the forge,
Feeling the sting of sparks
Cry out in triumph from its fierce iron.
Let the feet of the dancers play them too,
Your anguished words, your dark-throated songs:
Hammers against the fire within,
Fire against night, night against despair.

Charcoal Night
On a charcoal night the owl calls.
On a charcoal night wolves sharpen their claws.
On a charcoal night children shake with fear.
The charcoal night is growing near.
On a charcoal night the demon dogs sing.
On a charcoal night the little stars gleam.
On a charcoal night the air goes cold.
The nightmares and stories are always told.
On a charcoal night wolves wet their fangs.
On a charcoal night the owls call rang.
On a charcoal night the beasts are out.
On a charcoal night this is their town.
On a charcoal night lock up the doors.
On a charcoal night don't sleep on the floors.
On a charcaol night say good bye to those dear.
Because the charcaol night is finally hear.

Under Your Breath
Hangin' in the underground
Before a train back out of town
Away from you
All the lights that disappear
In the tunnels way down here
It's quite a view
Sometimes I wish I were deaf
Then I wouldn't hear the words you say
Under your breath
Under your breath
Locked away in your room
On the phone with someone who
She thinks out loud
Thought she found the right to leave
Think of the things you used to need
And I'd run out
Sometimes I wish I were deaf
But I hear the words you say
Under your breath
Under your breath
Anything that you put on me
All the things your head needs, You believe
Read my mind 'Cause I can't say anything
The sick heart potion
Two parts pain
One part true again
Sometimes I wish I were deaf
But I hear the words you say
Under your breath
Under your breath

The Book Of Life Was Opened
The Book of Life was opened
And a name was written down
All of heaven stood and gazed
Not a movement, not a sound
The angels watched in silence
As the story did unfold
And from the pages of the book
The story it was told
And life sprung up from off the page
These words became a man
The angels gasped to see such work
To see God's mighty plan
A soul was fashioned in His hand
And how, no one could tell
It was marvelous and wonderful
And this my soul knows well
Where could I go from you Spirit Lord?
Could I hide in the depths of the sea?
No matter where I run to Lord
You still come after me
I could take the wings of the morning
And fly into the darkest night
And there be blinded by the darkness
And you would come and give me sight
I could ascend to the highest heaven
And I would find you there
I could fall to the lowest pits of hell
And discover that you are everywhere
And so you came and sought me out
Even in this hell dark place
For the day and night are both alike
As they gaze upon your face
For in the glorious light of heaven
There is no darkness that can stand
For through the very gates of hell
You came and took me by the hand
And you laid your hand upon me
That hand that gave me birth
That hand that knew me through and through
Before I came to earth
For before the earth was fashioned
That Book was in your hand
Before the sun shone in the sky
All of this was planned
Oh search me God and know my heart
That sin may have no place in me
For I was covered by your Blood
That precious Blood of Calvary
This sin it would assault my soul
And rob and steal and take from me
The testimony of my King
And what He did on Calvary
But praise the Lord there is no power
Neither hell nor death nor misery
Can come against the precious work
The precious work of Calvary
How precious are your thoughts to me
They're more in number than the sand
I'll praise you Lord eternally
My name was written by your hand.

All Night Long
We get up early and we work all day
We put our time in cause we like to stay up
All night long
We keep on grinnin till the weekend comes
Just a pinch between your cheek and gum
All night long, all night long
Start in the morning and get the job done
Take care of busness and we have some fun
All night long, all night long
We like a long neck and a good old song
Turn it up and then we sing along
Sing along
Were all stayin up all night long
All night long
All night long
All night long
All night long

Drinkin'
she told me
that I was lame
with her middle finger in my face
wont waste her time with such a loser
so now I wallow in regret
wanna do something right but I haven't yet
why do my endeavors end up in failure
I think I'll go out drinkin'
drinkin' all night long
cuz if I go out drinkin'
then I can stop thinkin'
bout how the world done me wrong
I guess I shouldn't feel so bad
ain't got much reason to feel so sad
'cept that I'm poor untalented and ugly
I know its like they always say
good times and bad will come our way
but theres only one thing that'll make this easier
I think I'll go out drinkin'
drinkin' all night long
cuz if I go out drinkin'
then I can stop thinkin'
bout how the world done me wrong
so wrong
I sing this song and nobody sings along
I've got a friend
he's in my hand
he understands
he said to me everything wont be so bad!
I think I'll go out drinkin'
drinkin' all night long
cuz if I go out drinkin'
then I can stop thinkin'
bout how the world done me wrong
I think I'll go out drinkin' (think I'll go out drinkin')
drinkin' all night long (drinkin' all night long)
cuz if I go out drinkin'
then I can stop thinkin'
about how the worlds done me
how the worlds done me wrong (so wrong)

Psalm 6
My soul is greatly troubled
But you oh Lord-how long
I am weary with my groaning
And my night has lost its song
All night long my bed it swims
And my couch is bathed in tears
My grief has overwhelmed me
And I am surrounded by all my fears
The Lord has heard my weeping
As I lay in my bed at night
Oh Lord you know how weak I am
For you have surely beheld my plight
Oh Lord do not rebuke my soul
And in your sorrow chasten me
For you came and died upon the cross
You came to set me free
I will praise you in the morning Lord
I will praise you in the night
For you have heard the cry of your servant, Lord
And I run into your marvelous light

I Hear Her Playing Music
I hear her playing music
In her room alone at night
She just moved in a month ago
She isn't gonna play the game
I though she'd smile
And come on slow
I still don't even know her name
She must like being lonely
Got no time for anyone
But I hear her play that stereo
Right through to the rising sun
I hear her playing music
In her room alone all night
Through the day she's so elusive
Staying safe and out of sight
If you say hello she lets it go
Cool and so polite
And I hear her playing music
In her room alone at night
Baby are you sad and lonely
Or did somebody do you wrong
'Cause I know that you need only
Look my way
And they'll play our song
And I love your nightly music
But you can't keep playing through
'Cause I'm having trouble sleeping
And when I do I dream of you
I thought I'd try and break the freeze
And win her heart with harmony
So I answered back
And played a stack of my favorite CD's
But she just doesn't hear me
Doesn't have a word to say
So I stay awake and turn it up
Hoping she'll look out my way
I hear her playing music
In her room alone at night
Through the day she's so elusive
Staying safe and out of sight
If you say hello she lets it go
Cool and so polite
And I hear her playing Dave Koz
In her room alone at night
In her room alone at night
Baby are you sad and lonely
Baby won't you tell me your name
I'm in my room alone at night
You're in your room alone at night

In Love Alone
I memorize the words I want to say
I practice every move Ill make
I polay the scene like you were here
And I feel every breath you take
But all my plans just seem to melt away
The moment you walk in the room
I try to speak but words wont come
Till Im alone again
Im leaving my heart on the shelf
Sleep is a place I only cry myself
And dream by myself
(*) Im not in love alone
We put our two hearts together
Just like Ive always known
Once we begin were forever
And I will never spend a long night
Without you again
So now you know what Ive been going through
Now all I really need to know
Is why your eyes look so surprised
Oh no! this cant be true
Would you have let me walk away?
Why have you kept your feelings locked away?
Did I hear you say?
Repeat (*)

Tryin To Get To You
(words & music by c. singleton - r.m. mccoy)
Ive been traveling over mountains
Even through the valleys, too
Ive been traveling night and day
Ive been running all the way
Baby, trying to get to you.
Ever since I read your letter
Where you said you loved me true
Ive been traveling night and day
Ive been running all the way
Baby, trying to get to you
When I read your loving letter
Then my heart began to sing
There were many miles between us,
But they didnt mean a thing.
I just had to reach you, baby,
In spite of all that Ive been through.
I kept traveling night and day,
I kept running all the way,
Baby, trying to get to you.
Well if I had to do it over
Thats exactly what Id do,
I would travel night and day,
And Id still run all the way,
Baby, trying to get to you.
Well, theres nothing that could hold me
Or that could keep me away from you
When your loving letter told me
That you really loved me true
Lord above me knows I love you
It was he who brought me through,
When my way was dark as night,
He would shine his brightest light,
When I was trying to get to you.

I Droove All Night
I had to escape , The city was sticky and cruel
Maybe I should have called you first
But I was dying to get to you
I was dreaming while I drove
The long straight road ahead
Uh-huh, yeah
Could taste your sweet kisses, your arms open wide
This fever for you was just burning me up inside
I drove all night to get to you
Is that all right?
I drove all night, crept in your room
Woke you from your sleep to make love to you
Is that all right?
I drove all night
What in this world keeps us from falling apart?
No matter where I go
I hear the beating of our one heart
I think about you when the night is cold and dark
Uh-huh, yeah
No one can move me the way that you do
Nothing erases this feeling between me and you
I drove all night to get to you
Is that all right?
I drove all night, crept in your room
Woke you from your sleep to make love to you
Is that all right?
I drove all night
Could taste your sweet kisses, your arms open wide

The Muse And The Poet
The Muse said, Let us sing a little song
Wherein no hint of wrong,
No echo of the great world need, or pain,
Shall mar the strain.
Lock fast the swinging portal of thy heart;
Keep sympathy apart.
Sing of the sunset, of the dawn, the sea;
Of any thing or nothing, so there be
No purpose to thy art.
Yea, let us make, art for Art's sake.
And sing no more unto the hearts of men,
But for the critic's pen.
With songs that are but words, sweet sounding words,
Like joyous jargon of the birds.
Tune now thy lyre, O Poet, and sing on.
Sing of
THE DAWN
The Virgin Night, all languorous with dreams
Of her belovèd Darkness, rose in fear,
Feeling the presence of another near.
Outside her curtained casement shone the gleams
Of burning orbs; and modestly she hid
Her brow and bosom with her dusky hair.
When lo! the bold intruder lurking there
Leaped through the fragile lattice, all unbid,
And half unveiled her. Then the swooning Night
Fell pale and dead, while yet her soul was white
Before that lawless Ravisher, the Light.
The Muse said, Poet, nay; thou hast not caught
My meaning. For there lurks a thought
Back of thy song.
In art, all thought is wrong.
Re-string thy lyre; and let the echoes bound
To nothing but sweet sound.
Strike now the chords
And sing of
WORDS
One day sweet Ladye Language gave to me
A little golden key.
I sat me down beside her jewel box
And turned its locks.
And oh, the wealth that lay there in my sight.
Great solitaires of words, so bright, so bright;
Words that no use can commonize; like God,
And Truth, and Love; and words of sapphire blue;
And amber words; with sunshine dripping through;
And words of that strange hue
A pearl reveals upon a wanton's hand.
Again the Muse:
Thou dost not understand;
A thought within thy song is lingering yet.
Sing but of words; all else forget, forget.
Nor let thy words convey one thought to men.
Try once again.
Down through the dusk and dew there fell a word;
Down through the dew and dusk.
And all the garments of the air it stirred
Smelled sweet as musk;
And all the little waves of air it kissed
Turned gold and amethyst.
There in the dew and dusk a heart it found;
There in the dusk and dew
The sodden silence changed to fragrant sound;
And all the world seemed new.
Upon the path that little word had trod,
There shone the smile of God.
The Muse said, Drop thy lyre.
I tire, I tire.

Break It To Me Gently
Words and music: paul dean, mike reno
Face to face, I can see that look in your eye
But are you looking at me
Cause you know things arent what they seem to be
Does it matter to you
Or have you played that game before
I can feel you across the room
I wanna know just what it takes
Cause you know that Ive made some mistakes
Ive been down that rood before
Dont want to feel like a wolf when im
Banging on your door
So, break it to me gentiy all night long
Break it to me gently or prove me wrong
Take me to the point of no return, oh yeah
Break it to me gently all night long
All night long
So tell me if Im wrong
But wasnt it you that gave up
Without a fight, last night
So tell me if Im reading you right
Thats when I felt that there was something going on
And now I know what I wanna see
When you walk that way
Do you walk that way for me
Gotta know
Or are you just putting on a show
Cause youre everything I want
And a little bit more
Break it to me gently all night long
Break it to me gently or prove me wrong
Take me to the point of no return, oh yeah
Break it to me gently all night long
So break it baby
Here we go
Oh, oh, oh, oh oh
Oh oh oh, oh oh
Oh, oh oh, oh oh
Oh, oh oh, oh oh
Break it to me gently all night long
Break it to me gently or prove me wrong
Take me to the point of no return, oh yeah
Break it to me gentry all night long
Break it to me gently all night long
Break it to me gently or prove me wrong
Take me to the point of no return, oh yeah
Break it to me gently all night long
All night

Fly Me To The Moon
Poets often use many words
To say a simple thing
It takes thoughts and time and rhyme
To make a poem sing
With music and words I've been playing
For you I have written a song
To be sure that you'll know what I'm saying
I'll translate as I go along
Fly me to the moon
And let me play among the stars
Let me see what Spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, darling kiss me
Fill my heart with song
And let me sing for evermore
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you
Fill my heart with song
And let me sing for evermore
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you

Let Them There Stood
Let them there stood
Even not understood
Let your words untold
Ban them harming other's world
Let them ebbed with the innocence of childhood
May they behold
The grace of my lord
But when they'll cause
Hearts to be destroied
Let them there stood
Embrace your anger within
May it'll stay jailed in
Let your words unsaid
Untold
Silent
There at the peace let them silenced
Those words were worsened when they were melted with anger
They're now like poisoning animal's hunger
Whose reason never will be understood
Even after braking hearts
Those your heart loves the most
So let them inside your heart silently stood.
Untold
Silent......
