Nature
I wandered and I came upon
a beautiful clear stream.
It rippled as it moved along,
its rivulets agleam.
I knew not where its path would wind
but followed anyway.
The sun was warm, the breeze so soft,
a most exquisite day.
I sat down on a rock'fore long
and marveled at the scene.
It's then I caught a scent arise,
a scent that was unclean.
And as I traveled on I found
a sight so hard to bear,
pollution from some industry
from some who do not care.
The little stream had met its fate,
denying what it was.
A touch of greed and indifference
and this is what it does.
It changed the scene dramatically.
It made me want to cry.
For I knew this thing of beauty
was surely going to die.

Famous Final Scene
Words and music by bob seger
Think in terms of bridges burned
Think of seasons that must end
See the rivers rise and fall
They will rise and fall again
Everything must have an end
Like an ocean to a shore
Like a river to a stream
Like a river to a stream
Its the famous final scene
And how you tried to make it work
Did you really think it could
How you tried to make it last
Did you really think it would
Like a guest who stayed too long
Now its finally time to leave
Yes, its finally time to leave
Take it calmly and serene
Its the famous final scene
Its been coming on so long
You were just the last to know
Its been a long time since youve smiled
Seems like oh so long ago
Now the stage has all been set
And the nights are growing cold
Soon the winter will be here
And theres no one warm to hold
Now the lines have all been read
And you knew them all by heart
Now you move toward the door
Here it comes the hardest part
Try the handle of the road
Feeling different feeling strange
This can never be arranged
As the light fades from the screen
From the famous final scene

I Have A Woman Inside My Soul
I have a woman inside my soul,
Her eyes sombre and sad.
She waves her hand to try to reach me,
But I cant hear what she says.
I wish I knew what she says,
I wish I knew what she wants,
I wish I knew what she says to me,
I wish I knew what she means to me.
I see an asphalt road inside my soul,
Its pale even in a warm summers day.
It stretches into the mist and calls me,
But I dont know what it takes.
I wish I knew what it takes, (I wish I knew)
I wish I knew what it gives, (I wish I knew)
I wish I knew what it says to me, (I wish I knew)
I wish I knew what it means to me. (I wish I knew)
I see a tombstone inside my soul,
Its old and mossy, covered in dead leaves.
It stands with an engraving on it surface,
But I dont know what it reads.
I wish I knew what it reads, (I wish I knew)
I wish I knew what it says, (I wish I knew)
I wish I knew what it says to me, (I wish I knew)
I wish I knew what it means to me. (I wish I knew)
(yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, hey)
I feel snow covering inside my soul,
Its hard and shining in shades of grey.
No footsteps ever made their marks,
And I dont know when it melts.
I wish I knew when it melts, (I wish I knew)
I wish I knew when it happens, (I wish I knew)
I wish I knew if it happens at all, (I wish I knew)
I wish I knew what it means to me. (I wish I knew)
I hear a stream running inside my soul,
Its cold and clear and carries a tune.
But I dont know what it sings and tells,
I dont know where it goes.
I wish I knew what it sings,
I wish I knew where it goes,
I wish I knew what it sings, (I wish I knew)
I wish I knew where it goes, (I wish I knew)
I wish I knew what it sings. (I wish I knew)
(I wish I knew)
(I wish I knew) (yeah!)

A Flower's Decision
Does a flower breathe
Like you and me?
Breathing in its scent
Exhaling it for free?
Does it smell pollution
And cry inside?
Maybe it wants to close up
And let its beauty hide.
But it blossoms instead
Into the polluted air
And gives off its scent
Just for those who care.

The Scent
As I lay alone late tonight I hold your pillow tight and inhale your scent.
The scent that sends my mind back to the last time we made love.
Now, as I inhale more of the scent of you I start to feel your presences.
I begin to feel soft tenderness of your kisses.
I then feel your touch stroking every inch of my body.
I also feel the motion of your hips just like I did the last night we made love.
As I take one last deep breath and inhale the scent that is the essence of you.
I feel you doing the same thing as you also lay alone without me.
Magic Circle
We all need a place where we can go, to escape from stress, trouble or sorrow. I have found such a place to call my own. Peaceful but exciting and for me alone. This Magic Circle has so many things I need Comfort in my sorrow from unkind word or deed. Peace at the end of a long and trying day. Encouragement when I falter on life's pathway. Inside this Magic Circle I've shed so many tears; also shared my laughter my dreams and my fears. I've shared so much excitement, love and fun. I Wish a Magic Circle for each and every one. Within this Magic Circle I find just what I need, and I never have to ask for it, never beg or plead. Inside this Magic Circle I'm protected from all harm. Yes, I have found MAGIC, in the CIRCLE of your arms. What God Designed Help me dear Lord to appreciate today. Not take for granted the wonders you display. Blue skies embracing a soft white cloud. Birds are singing so sweet and proud. A soft playful breeze from over the ocean, ripples long grass in a dancing motion. The joyful sounds of a mountain stream. adds tranquillity to this peaceful scene. Insects hum their songs of pure delight; as my senses absorb this beautiful sight. If man has made life better today, why do I need to escape this way? I remain quiet: not moving or blinking My mind at rest, not even thinking. A butterfly alights upon my hand, More exquisite than anything made by man. Amid all this beauty I lay dozing My spirit at peace, Or am I supposing. I will close my eyes at a quiet time and experience again what God designed.

In the spirit of Rumi-19
When the desert breeze blew
in the direction of Majnun’s tribal camp
Layla stood there hoping that
the wind rippling through her silken robe
would carry the scent of her love to Majnun
while Majnun stood there hoping
that the breeze would carry
from her forbidden encampment
the scent of Layla’s love
to meet his own and merge
When the north wind blows cold
with snow to blanket the shivering earth,
when the biting eastern wind
comes with the rising sun
that sparkles on the morning frost,
when the warm, scented southern breeze
comes with the sunlight bringing the earth to life,
when the gentle breeze from the west
blows briefly as the evening sun departs,
may I know you, My Beloved,
to be that fierce wind, that gentle breeze,
standing where they arise,
blessing me with silent air,
blowing my spirit towards that place
where there is no ‘to’; no ‘from’; and no ‘away’.

A Poor Attempt
The water mill beside the stream, highlighted by a stray moonbeam.
Which adds an abstract quality, a touch of surreality.
To the scene which I can see and makes it extraordinary
The stream is deep and strong but slow and turns the paddles from below.
The droplets falling from the wheel to any poets eyes appeal
Reflecting light prismatically in rainbow colours flying free.
They join the moon light in a dance of ever changing radiance
Sadly dark clouds obscure the moon; the show is ended all too soon.
My soul is soothed and satisfied, although the dark clouds came to hide
the beauty which I saw displayed. The memories will never fade.
I can recall them vividly and in my minds eye I still see
the wondrous scene I saw tonight. An interplay of dark and light.
I try my best to share with you the beauty that I had in view.
Though I’m afraid I lack the skill despite the fact I have the will.
I am quite sure you’ll understand, I’m just a man I can’t command
the words I write to show to you, the fleeting beauty that I knew..

The Oriental Nosegay. By Pickersgill
THROUGH the light curtains came the perfumed air,
And flung them back and show'd a garden, where
The eye could just catch glimpses of those trees
Which send sweet messages upon the breeze
To lull a maiden's sleep, and fan her cheek,
When inward thoughts in outward blushes speak.
Bequeath's a silken couch, just fit to be
A snowy shrine for some fair deity;
And there a beauty rests, lovely as those
Enchanted visions haunting the repose
Of the young poet, when his eyelids shut
To dream that love they have but dream'd as yet;--
But dream'd! Alas, that love should ever be
A happiness but made for phantasie!
And flowers are by her side, and her dark eye
Seems as it read in them her destiny.
She knew whose hand had gather'd them, she knew
Whose sigh and touch were on their scent and hue.
Beautiful language! Love's peculiar, own,
But only to the spring and summer known.
Ah! little marvel in such clime and age
As that of our too earth-bound pilgrimage,
That we should daily hear that love is fled,
And hope grown pale, and lighted feelings dead.
Not for the cold, the careless to impart,
By such sweet signs, the silence of the heart:
But surely in the countries where the sun
Lights loveliness in all he shines upon,--
Where love is as a mystery and a dream,
One single flower upon life's troubled stream;
There, there, perchance, may the young bosom thrill,
Feeling and fancy linger with love still.
She look'd upon the blossoms, and a smile,
A twilight one, lit up her lip the while.
Surely her love is blest, no leaves are there
That aught of lover's misery declare.
True, 'mid them is that pale and pining flower,
Whose dim blue colour speaks an absent hour;
Yet it is nothing but that tender sorrow
Of those who part to-day to meet to-morrow:
For there are hope and constancy beside,
And are not these to happiness allied;
And yet upon that maiden's cheek is caught
A summer evening's shade of pensive thought,
As if these large soft eyes knew all their fate,
How the heart would its destiny create,--
At once too tender, and too passionate;--
Too made for happiness to be happy here,
An angel fetter'd to an earthly sphere.--
And those dark eyes, so large, so soft, so bright,
So clear as if their very tears were light;
They tell that destiny, art thou not one
To whom love will be like the summer sun
That feeds the diamond in the secret mine,
Then calls it from its solitude to shine,
And piece by piece be broken. Watch the bloom,
And mark its fading to an early tomb,
And read in the decay upon it stealing
Of thy own wasted hope and wither'd feeling,--
Ay, fitting messengers for love! as fair,
As quickly past as his own visions are;--
Fling, fling the flowers away!

Summer Afternoon
I watched as swans went gliding by,
Gazing at gracefulness so sleek,
Then spied a dancing dragonfly,
Displaying its beauty, so unique.
And as I sat down by the stream,
The swans majestic, drifted on,
A sight of enchantment so supreme,
As on this scene, the sunbeams shone.
With rippling sounds that filled the air,
So restful that such a gentle tune,
Made this a place extraordinaire,
There, this mild summer afternoon.
The wind moved softly down the creek,
And whispered to the swaying grass,
As if to say, with tongue-in-cheek,
Bow down. Let me unhindered pass.
And so the swans sailed out of view,
Around the bend and out of sight,
The dragonfly with thoughts anew,
Flew off into the warm sunlight.
Thus I was left to contemplate,
How calm and still, this quiet place,
How such a spot can encapsulate,
And my weary heart to so embrace.

Living the Dream for MY lady Irene
I wandered slowly in my dream beside a placid flowing stream.
I pondered as I walked along. Was something missing something wrong?
I realised I was alone. I had no love to call my own.
The sun no longer shone for me I was enwrapped in misery.
The stream still sang upon its way. Above me now the skies were grey.
It seemed I was condemned to be alone, unloved, solitary.
But then you came into my dream a perfect dream within a dream.
I knew I had not yet met you but something told me I would do.
I slipped into a deeper sleep but made a promise I would keep.
I swore I’d search the world for you. I knew that you were searching too.
Sometimes in sleep your mind is free to see your future fate clearly.
I knew that you would be my wife and we would share a happy life.
That we would meet a certainty, a self fulfilling prophecy.
It happened soon as I recall. We didn’t have to wait at all.
You knew you had been recognised. I gazed in wonder hypnotised.
You whispered softly dreams come true and I replied of course they do.
I was your dream as you were mine.Made possible by some divine intervention which let us see our future indisputably.
I was quite sure that I loved you. You had no doubt you loved me too.
Dreams can precede reality so we got wed. Predictably.

Binsey Poplars
(Felled 1879)
My aspens dear, whose airy cages quelled,
Quelled or quenched in leaves the leaping sun,
All felled, felled, are all felled;
Of a fresh and following folded rank
Not spared, not one
That swam or sank
On meadow and river and wind-wandering
weed-winding bank.
O if we but knew what we do
When we delve or hew-
Hack and rack the growing green!
Since country is so tender
To touch, her being so slender,
That, like this sleek and seeing ball
But a prick will made no eye at all,
Where we, even where we mean
To mend her we end her,
When we hew or delve:
After-comers cannot guess the beauty been.
Ten or twelve, only ten or twelve
Strokes of havoc unselve
The sweet especial scene,
Rural scene, a rural scene,
Sweet especial rural scene.

The Scene
The scene is so serene.
It gives me hope and sanity.
To these things I try to hold.
The beauty so elegant and bold.
When I come here it is strange.
I see the light.
The world is truly bright.
I feel no fear.
I have no doubt.
Nothing here could hold such clout.
The breeze is soft.
Above allelse my spirit is not lost.
When I come here it's a splendor.
I know that love is truly tender.
So I sit here in this scene.
Caught inside a wonderful dream.

The Union
i wait around for the still small center
from saint to sinner
well which one is it
just who do you think you are
(who do you think you are)
well who did you come to meet here?
is it who i think it is?
i swear to god im gonna kill him
well is it who i think it is?
i always knew it was on purpose
well whats the point if it dont serve its purpose
split up to focus your eyes couldnt swell
your made from distractions so brilliantly dull
well i had a better friend in my worst aqquaintces
than i ever had in either one of you
i never made a scene
well they came to me
i never made a scene (didnt have to)
well they came to me
i didnt have to i didnt have to
well i never made a scene
i didnt have to i didnt have to
i never made a scene...
i always knew to avoid the issue
got me alone so i could adress you
home is where you make it, love
dont get yourself confused
besides whats it to you?
trade in my conscience for your
for your confidence
attack my lungs with laughs to pass the time
make space for a brand new routine

Dreaming
I've seen you in a vision,
Or maybe it was a dream,
Your hair was silky and glowing,
And oh how your eyes did gleam.
Your smile was so perfect,
Your skin was so soft and fair,
Your kiss was like heaven,
And your touch nothing could compare.
As I laid In your warm embrace,
With the scent of passion in the air,
It was like a scene out of a movie,
Of this great love affair.
As we ravished each others bodies,
Well in to the dark of night,
And still holding on,
Throughout the morning light.

In The Air
Like fresh blossoming flowers on a spring day.
Her scent is in the air.
Like the smell of rain right before it pours down.
Her scent is in the air.
Like the aroma of a hot apple pie cooling on the window seal.
Her scent is in air.
I try to cover my nose with my shirt
but her scent seeps right through it.
It is in the air.
I try fanning it away
but the more I fan the stronger her scent lofts in the air.
I decide not to fight it anymore and I inhale her scent.
It first suffocates me but then it sustains me.
To me her scent is love and it is
In the air.
My Flower
A scent lingering in the
room
has led me to this very bloom.
A scent so fragrant,
A scent so grand,
A scent so strong it could
spread across the land.
A shade of golden-brown
is something that will not make me frown.
A flower so beautiful,
a flower that's for me
makes me bend on this very
knee.
The allure, scent, and attraction
is enough to control my very
action.
Don't worry, she's not only your flower,
she's my flower.

The Witness
I look. I hear. I see
and run away from the sight.
I try not to think. I shrink
away into the night.
The scene stays with me.
I cannot sleep.
I hear the scream.
I remember the weep
and what did I do?
I ran.
I ran as fast as I possibly could,
afraid to do what I knew I should.
But I must bear witness
and tell what I saw.
For I cannot live
with this character flaw.
I'd looked. I'd heard, I'd seen
and when I ran from the scene,
it followed me and said
'It will never leave your head.'
I cried my tears.
I conquered my fears
and spoke.

Long Live Rock n Roll
At the end of a dream
If you know where I mean
When the mist just starts to clear
In a similar way
At the end of today
I could feel the sound of writing on the wall
It cries for you
Its the least that you can do
Like a spiral on the wind
I can hear it screamin in my mind
Long live rock and roll
Long live rock n roll
Long live rock and roll
In a different time
When the words didnt rhyme
You could never quite be sure
Then on with the change
It was simple but strange
And you knew the feeling seemed to say it all
It cries for you
Its the least that you can do
Like a spiral on the wind
I can hear it screamin in my mind
Long live rock and roll
Long live rock n roll
Long live rock and roll
If you suddenly see
What has happened to me
You should spread the word around
And tell everyone here
That its perfectly clear
They can sail above it all on what theyve found
It cries for you
Its the best that you can do
Like a sound thats everywhere
I can hear it screaming through the air
Long live rock and roll
Long live rock n roll
Long live rock and roll

Springtime Breeze
An errant breeze
Carried the sweet scent
Of Honey locust blossoms
My attention caught
I raised my head
To inhale deeply
And I thought
“how many people
Walk in beauty? ”
And never even
Raise their head
To seize
The Spring…
the blossoms…
The scent,
Of honey locusts blossoms
Carried on
An errant Springtime breeze

Amity Gardens
Angel broke her wing
Oh, you poor thing
The hum of the motor gave way to
The tick tick ticking of the clock
And the rattle of springs
The buicks in the drive
Its good to be alive
And if you knew now what you knew then
You wouldnt want to go home
Wouldnt want to go
If you knew now what you knew then
You wouldnt want to go to amity gardens again
It isnt very much, but
For now its home
A room in the shadow of a funny-looking man
On the phone to the bank about a default loan
I thank you very much
Ta ta well be in touch
And if you knew now what you knew then
You wouldnt want to go home
Wouldnt want to go
If you knew now what you knew then
You wouldnt want to go to amity gardens again
Where you came from
And act like you tried
Cause somethings are better kept
Deep down inside
But yours not driving
Youre along for the ride
Just checking out the scene
And taking in the green
