Writing Poems and Chatting (Free Verse)

I am sorry
If I don't stay up
All night
Writing poems
And chatting
Now
I do spend
a lot of time
Watching t.v.
I have heard
Somewhere
That watching to much
T.v.
Is not recommended
Maybe
One day
I will go back
To writing poems
All night long
I wonder
How many
Of you readers
Watch t.v.
All night long
Or listen
To songs
On the radio

Writing On The Wall

Words and music by rick nielsen
All right, I saw the writing on the wall.
All night, I saw the writing on the wall,
I saw the writing on the wall.
Lo and behold, heard it on the radio.
It was a long time comin, but it sounds so sweet, come on, man, get off my back.
All right, I saw the writing on the wall.
All night, I saw the writing on the wall,
I saw the writing on the wall.
In the midwest and in the east.
Canada, southwest, around the world,
L.a., tokyo, sounds so sweet,
Come on honey, get on your feet.
All right, I saw the writing on the wall.
All night, I saw the writing on the wall,
I saw the writing on the wall.
The words were oh, so...
The words were oh, so clear.
All right, I saw the writing on the wall.
All night, I saw the writing on the wall,
I saw the writing on the wall.
Lo and behold, heard it on the radio.
It was a long time comin, but it sounds so sweet, come on, man, get off my back.
Saw it at the airport, it was on t.v.
Read it in a magazine, runnin down the street.
Makes no sense, but I hope its gonna last,
The next big thing, I really gotta laugh.
Worked and slaved and played like hell,
Everybodys goin crazy, youre the last to know.
Cant explain it, still a joke to me,
Maybe Im naive, cause its so plain to see.
Its right in front of your face, man.
Its right in front of your face, man.
Played like hell, whoa!
Played like hell, whoa!

Oh The Poems And More Poems

OH THE POEMS AND THE MORE POEMS

Oh the poems and the more poems
The wonderful poems I am writing all the time
God has given me this gift
And when I wait in the right way
And when I listen to myself properly
The poems come in ways I could never have thought of or imagined before
They come as mysteries as gifts as surprises
As wonderful to me as perhaps to you their possible readers
Oh the poems and the more poems
The wonderful poems God has given me
And the light of this day and so many other days, also.

I'm Watching You (A Mutant Romance)

Well it's ten o'clock
Jewel Jewel, and it's time to see you
Scan around the block
Oh, you Jewel in the monitor screen
I can usually find you near 42nd and 8th
A whore in a doorway (yeah)
I think I've found you Jewel, wit my T.V. beam
You know it's funny, the light in the night,
does something to your face
And the way you look, reminds me of a girl I used to want
in Junior High
The smile on your lips, and the shape of your hips,
excites me, and it makes me want to touch you
You're a whore for sure, but that's O.K.
Because I'm nothing, just another dirty spy with a T.V. eye
I can't stand it when you find a man, I wonder what he's sayin'
Does he tell you about his wife and kids at home?
Is he like me?
The one whose watching you in the night, in the night
Watching you in the night, in the night, in the night
Well you're back on the street, and I can love you
As a man can love a woman
and you know I'm here, but you think of me as a steel
machine
But, I'm watching you, all night
And, I'm watching you, all night long
I'm watching you, all night
I'm watching you, all night long
I'm watching you, all night ........

Ships Of The Night

Poems pass
in the night also.
Port starboard lights
burn bright also.

Poems pass stirred
hear wave slap night gongs?
Have you not heard
their salty soft saline songs?

Poems pass plotted
in navigated narrows; of lapping passage night.
Have you not heard
their soft spoken saline songs; by glow of candle light?

Poems pass navigated
in natant night also.
Daily cares contested
at last laid low below.

Poems pass
in shadow seamed night.
Poems pass
in nuptial nocturnal night flight.

Has not herald heard
silver shimmering saline songs?
Poems pass like flight of bird
as eternal endless night sails on.

If I Can Go On Writing Poems

IF I CAN GO ON WRITING POEMS

If I can go on writing poems
I will be happy-

If I cannot go on
I will lose something of myself-

I wonder how long I will be able to go on
Days? Years? How long exactly?

I write happily now
A poem I know I can post-
Without that I might be less happy about it-

If I can go on writing poems
This will be a sign I still have hope in life-

When I am stopped or stop
Will it mean I am finished
As a person also?

The Only Dreams I Have In Writing Now Are Poems

THE ONLY DREAMS I HAVE IN WRITING NOW ARE POEMS

The only dreams I have in writing now are poems
Poems and more poems-
I write them in the morning and in the evening
At all times of day
Whenever I can make them come to me
They calm me and make me rest
They bring a sense that I am still alive
They justify me an amuse me
They give me hope
The only dreams I have now are poems
And poems keep me alive
As long as they can.

Always The Poems In Me

Always the poems in me-
Saying themselves over and over
Returning to lines learned long ago
Or lines learned with more difficulty in old age-

Always the poems in me-
While my own poems written
And forgotten
As if only
Poems of a single occasion
The time of their writing-

Always the poems in me-
The poems which others will have in them after me
Poems not my own.

The Writing Of Many Poems

THE WRITING OF MANY POEMS

The writing of many poems
Has not been a weariness of the flesh
It has been by and large- a happiness-

What will happen to the Poems
Is another matter-

But the writing of them
Has given me life.

All Night Long

We get up early and we work all day
We put our time in cause we like to stay up
All night long
We keep on grinnin till the weekend comes
Just a pinch between your cheek and gum
All night long, all night long
Start in the morning and get the job done
Take care of busness and we have some fun
All night long, all night long
We like a long neck and a good old song
Turn it up and then we sing along
Sing along
Were all stayin up all night long
All night long
All night long
All night long
All night long

Tonight Is The Night

writing the burning away
finally I feel I can say things are okay
the darkness is gone once more
high on pedestal are the gods
looking down upon us with envy
for we can feel whats isn't internally real
so fragile eyes
so much love in disguise
a soul wound up so tight
tonight is the night
listen to me a as i speak
I'm writing the burning away
I'm sorry for the delay
i should have said so much so long ago
it too late but still it must be said
cause its all in my heart and
its time it takes the lead
its time to bury the greed
and humility just pure honesty
I loved you
even as you went left I went right
still things must be set right
tonight is the night
writing the burning away
i wish i could stay
but passion is igniting the desire
I look to you and admire
so strong is the temptation of going another constellation
god how much aggravation can come from instincts so right
tonight is the night
tonight is the night
ohhh the night baby the night
were making things alright
tonight is the night
writing the burning away
this is a risky game we play
but in the end I'm not afraid
I'm the knight so brave
I better behave for i know things can wait
slowly this road i shall take
the closer i get to the moons gate
the less I feel the hate
the hole is gone at the break of this dawn
a winter set so perfect
falling to the lust i just might
tonight is the night the night we make things alright

My Poems Are Poems Of The Light Of The Day

MY POEMS ARE POEMS OF THE LIGHT OF THE DAY

My poems are poems of the light of the day
The poems of the night are for others-
When the night comes
I hide and wait in silence
Until the day comes-
My poems are poems of the light of the day
And I dare not bring the poems of the night within them.

So Many Poets

so many poets

so many poems

all popping up like mushrooms after the lightning and thunder

no one comes to see

no one comes to say the mushrooms are not so white not so good

so many poems

so many poets

the readers are few, the readers are lesser

but what can you do?

what do you expect?

well, i am just writing my diary, and i am the reader who reads it myself

to ease this pain,

to let myself know that with all my unrequited loves, i still dare to write

and exist.

and i don't really care.

so many poets

look at these poems

they all look and sound the same

It Is A Habit

writing poems
when you really write poems
everyday and every moment of your life
even when you're in the middle of your
bread and butter eating thing
or even when you are defecating
writing poems becomes a habit
even when you sleep even when you dream
writing poems becomes a part of your system
you eat poetry you vomit poetry
you digest poetry you poo poetry
you breathe poetry you sweat poetry
you love poetry and you live with your poetry
and at the end you die with poetry

and your epitaph says: here lies the poet,
choked with poetry.

Thank God For The Radio

(max d. barnes/robert john jones)
On the wrong end of the highway
When the long night has no end
When theres no one there beside me
til I hold you once again
Thank God for the radio
When Im on the road
When Im far from home
And feelin blue
Thank God for the radio
Playin all night long
Playin all the songs
That mean so much to me and you
Theres a song that we first danced to
And theres a song they played the night we met
And theres a song we first made love to
Thats a song Ill never forget
Thank God for the radio
When Im on the road
When Im far from home
And feelin blue
Thank God for the radio
Playin all night long
Playin all the songs
That mean so much to me and you
Playin all the songs
That mean so much to me and you
Thank God for the radio

This Night Is Done

Recording all the memories.
Writing another one down in the diary of jane.
A complementation of the mentally insane.
Riding the rails of this train.
Such a long train.
It goes on an on.
Someday, someway, I will look back and say wow that was me.
I was definitely kinda crazy.
I was a shaker and a heart breaker.
Getting down at a quarter after 9.
The party would continue all night long.
I would drink till the moon was gone.
Watching another rising dawn.
Settling down when the lights come on.
Sometime you need to give the body mind and soul a break.
Their is never enough time.
Can anyone else relate
An observation with two steps back.
So slow to react.
All the sensations have become numb.
The painless fun.
This night is done.

Because You Are Not Here

My poems have lost rhythm
Because you are not here!
My room is in a mess
Because you are not here!

My life seems like a nightmare
Because you are not here!
God is more close to me now
Because you are not here!

My night doesn’t seem to pass
Because you are not here!
All songs seem monotonous
Because you are not here!

No book of poems seems interesting
Because you are not here!
I don’t see the sky of dawn
For such a long time
Because you are not here!

A Child's Game

the games that you play
are the same games that i am playing

writing poems
watching movies
reading stories
reading poems
taking the night
out with not so
close friends
enjoying the
music at the bar
some beer and
some barbecue
a little laughter
some pretenses
some truths to
tell sometimes
going home late
and wanting some
sleep till noon,

what is it that i am doing?
i am hiding from misery
this program on pain reduction
this art of losing and finding
and losing till it hurts no more

these children games
of hide and seek
breaking up and
becoming friends again
in such a short
time

Donna's Story

I spend alot of time writing poems, telling my story
Most are kind of sad, doesn't offer much glory
My best friend is my paper and my pen
It brings me back to places I have been
Some hold sorrow, some hold cheer
Some hold memories, that are very dear
In some I write about great pain
But most of all, I don't write in vain
If one of my poems can touch your heart
Then, I consider my writing some kind of art
I would like to touch, the lives that have been hurt
Want everyone to know that they must stay alert
Pain and fear isn't a choice for many
In all my years, I've sure had plenty
So if my words can help you heal
Maybe my new life, you can feel
Don't pity me, because I've been made whole
I've taken back my life that other's stole!

Am Radio

The VCR and the DVD
There wasn't none of that crap
Back in 1970

We didn't know about
A world wide web

It was a whole different game being played
Back when I was a kid

You wanna get down
In a cool way?

Just picture yourself on a beautiful day

With the big bell bottoms
And groovy long hair
Justa walking in style
With a portable CD player

No
No...you would listen
To the music on
The AM radio

Yeah...you could hear the music
The AM radio

Flashback to '72
Another summer in the neighborhood
Hanging out with nothing to do

Sometimes
We'd go driving around
In my sister's Pinto
Cruisin' with the windows rolled down

We'd listen to the radio station
We were too damn poor
To buy the 8 track tapes

There wasn't any good time
To want to be inside
My mom would want to watch that TV all night

I'd be in bed with the radio on
I would listen to it all night long
Just to hear my favorite song

You'd have to wait
But you could hear it
On the AM radio

Yeah...you could hear the music
On the AM radio

I can still hear mama say
"Boy...Turn that radio down!"

Things changed back in '75
We were all growing up
On the in
And the outside
We got in trouble with the police man
We got busted
Getting high
In the back of my friend's van

I remember 1977
I started going to concerts
And I saw the Led Zeppelin
I got a guitar
On a Christmas day
I dreamed that Jimmy Page
Would come to Santa Monica
And teach me to play

There isn't any other place that I need to go
There isn't anything that I need to know
That I did not learn from the radio

Yeah when things get stupid
And I just don't know
Where to find my happy

I listen to the music
From the AM radio

(You could hear the music
On the AM radio)

(You could hear the music
On the AM radio)

I like pop and I like soul
I like rock
But I never liked disco

(On the AM radio)

We like pop...We like soul
We like to rock
But we never liked disco

(On the AM radio)

I never liked disco...no I never liked disco
