Love's Season

Nay, never ask, beloved, oh, why so late?
Nor marvel I could see yet love thee not,
Love's secrets lie within the book of fate,
Uncyphered and untaught.

The self-same star shines in its lofty sphere,
The poet sees and sees a hundred times,
Before from silvery cloud emerging clear,
'Tis wooed in deathless rhymes.

The self-same melody, unseized, ignored,
May float for years in the composer's brain,
One day he careless strikes his harp's chord,
To find a godlike strain.

And countless suns rise o'er the summer sea,
Before that rosy glow the painter caught,
Transferred to canvas, for all time to be
The fadeless dawn of thought.

So soul by soul for years may dwell alone,
Yet side by side; no mortal tongue can tell
How word or smile or look doth make them one.
Therein love's miracle.

For Your Love

All the gold in all the world
Is nothing to possess
If all the things that it can bring
Cant add up to one ounce of your happiness
And for your love
I would do anything
Just to see the smile upon your face
For your love
I would go anywhere
Just you tell me and Ill be right there
A diamond that shines
Like a star in the sky
Is nothing to behold
For miniscule is any light
If it cant like you brighten up my soul
And for your love
I would do anything
Just to see the smile upon your face
For your love
I would go anywhere
Just you tell me and Ill be right there
I could have never fathomed this
Such joy, love and tenderness
That you give to me
For the love I feel inside
Its so wonderful I cant hide
And I glow, I glow
With just the thought of you
I do, I do, I do, I do, I do, I do
And for your love
I would do anything
Just to see the smile upon your face
For your love
I would go anywhere
Just you tell me and Ill be right there

An Old Memory

How sweet the music sounded
That summer long ago,
When you were by my side, love,
To list its gentle flow.

I saw your eyes a-shining,
I felt your rippling hair,
I kissed your pearly cheek, love,
And had no thought of care.

And gay or sad the music,
With subtle charm replete;
I found in after years, love
'Twas you that made it sweet.

For standing where we heard it,
I hear again the strain;
It wakes my heart, but thrills it
With sad, mysterious pain.

It pulses not so joyous
As when you stood with me,
And hand in hand we listened
To that low melody.

Oh, could the years turn back, love!
Oh, could events be changed
To what they were that time, love,
Before we were estranged;

Wert thou once more a maiden
Whose smile was gold to me;
Were I once more the lover
Whose word was life to thee,--

O God! could all be altered,
The pain, the grief, the strife,
And wert thou--as thou shouldst be--
My true and loyal wife!

But all my tears are idle,
And all my wishes vain.
What once you were to me, love,
You may not be again.

For I, alas! like others,
Have missed my dearest aim.
I asked for love. Oh, mockery!
Fate comes to me with fame!

Caught Somewhere In Time

If you had the time to lose
An open mind and time to choose
Would you care to take a look
Or can you read me like a book
Time is always on my side
Time is always on my side
Can I tempt you come with me
Be devil may care fulfill your dream
If I said Id take you there
Would you go would you be scared
Time is always on my side
Time is always on my side
Dont be afraid youre safe with me
Safe as any soul can be...
Honestly... just let yourself go
Caught somewhere in time
Caught somewhere in time
Caught somewhere in time... oh oh
Like a wolf in sheeps clothing
You try to hide your deepest sins
Of all the things that youve done wrong
And I know where you belong
Time is always on my side
Time is always on my side
Make an offer you cant refuse
Youve only got your soul to lose...
Eternally... just let yourself go
Caught now in two minds!

Side By Side

Maurice white, wayne vaughn & wanda vaughn
One year ago, love was touch and go
Time made me see, solved the mystery
Taught me that love and time
Will change your mind and make it right
Bring your darkness to the light
My hearts sings in the night
My love I bring to you
With this lovin I dedicate to you
For believing in me, I will make you mine
Side by side, for love we waited
Side by side, were dedicated
Side by side, now we can make it
Side by side, we gonna shake it on down
Get down, get down , get down, get down,
Tonight
I can hardly wait, to pick you up at eight
For this rendezvous, candlelight and you
It took ma a long time, to see it clear
That love will last, for many years
Dreams can come true
So I bring my heart to you
With this lovin I dedicate to you
For believing in me, I will make you mine
Side by side, for love we waited
Side by side, were dedicated
Side by side, now we can make it
Side by side, we gonna shake it on down
Get down, get down , get down, get down,
Tonight
We finally found our sunny day
And your love lights up the way
So, I thank you today, for
You believed in me

The Bridegroom Of Cana

'There was a marriage in Cana of Galilee. . . . And both Jesus was called, and His disciples, to the marriage.'

VEIL thine eyes, O belovéd, my spouse,
Turn them away,
Lest in their light my life withdrawn
Dies as a star, as a star in the day,
As a dream in the dawn.

Slenderly hang the olive leaves
Sighing apart;
The rose and silver doves in the eaves
With a murmur of music bind our house.
Honey and wine in thy words are stored,
Thy lips are bright as the edge of a sword
That hath found my heart,
That hath found my heart.

Sweet, I have waked from a dream of thee,–
And of Him.
He who came when the songs were done.
From the net of thy smiles my heart went free
And the golden lure of thy love grew dim.
I turned to them asking, 'Who is He,
Royal and sad, who comes to the feast
And sits Him down in the place of the least?'
And they said, 'He is Jesus, the carpenter's son.'

Hear how my harp on a single string
Murmurs of love.
Down in the fields the thrushes sing
And the lark is lost in the light above,
Lost in the infinite, glowing whole,
As I in thy soul,
As I in thy soul.

Love, I am fain for thy glowing grace
As the pool for the star, as the rain for the rill.
Turn to me, trust to me, mirror me
As the star in the pool, as the cloud in the sea.
Love, I looked awhile in His face
And was still.

The shaft of the dawn strikes clear and sharp;
Hush, my harp.
Hush my harp, for the day is begun,
And the lifting, shimmering flight of the swallow
Breaks in a curve on the brink of morn,
Over the sycamores, over the corn,
Cling to me, cleave to me, prison me
As the mote in the flame, as the shell in the sea,
For the winds of the dawn say, 'Follow, follow
Jesus Bar-Joseph, the carpenter's son.'

Do Not Go So Far

My beloved,
my love,
do not go so far,
so far,
beyond the
reach of my dreams
wherein
holding your heart in mine
write our names
entwined
on each passing cloud
and
in a state of soul embrace
smile
at the vanity of time.

My beloved,
my love,
do not go so far
so far
beyond the
reach of my dreams
wherein
leaning on the edge of horizon
weave
the beautiful blanket of togetherness
and
borrowing colors from the rainbow
paint it the color of
love.

My beloved,
my love,
do not go so far
so far
beyond the
spam of my arms
wherein
love is not just an emotion
or desires untamed or wild.
where
togetherness is not mere possession of bodies
mortal with each passing tide.
and
your just being there
illuminates
my mind
my soul
my life

My beloved,
my love,
do not go so far.

You're Forvever In Her Dreams

She stands in the sun
Wading though the ripples
That cascade into time

Her arms out stretched
Searching for love
She smiles as she sees
A possibility

Her heart beats fast
As she tastes
The heart felt
Emotions that beat
Inside your heart

And her laughter
Touches your being
Your soul
It embraces
The love
That only you know

Then with a sudden shock
A taste of reality
She starts to tremble
As she sees your fears
Tastes your despair

You doubt her love
You doubt her soul
How can she be?
What you think
Is your soul

You deny what you see
You deny what you know
She shatters in two
Like a broken sphere

From a broken
Shattered dream
She rises to the norm
From the darkness
We claim lays
Dormant in our souls

Like a flower she burst
Like a rippling effect
She shines onto thee
Her love, her energy

Tears trickle down
Upon her tear streaked cheeks
She knows in her heart
How much she loves
You so

She lets go of your heart
She lets go of her dreams
She cry's in the night
You're for ever
In her dreams

A World Of Love

I was so lonely before you my love.
I had forty years of loneliness drowning my soul.
Forty years of loneliness from tears never cried.
Tears collected from forty years of bitter salt life.
Tears uncried formed an ocean of bitter salt tears.
Bitter salt tears can drown or pickle a weaker soul.
I have waited for you for forty years my love.
The first miracle was the miracle of my first meeting you.

When angels stood among us; during the miracle; of dancing with you.
Since then I have beheld; an incredible transformation; miracle my love.
Since then you have turned; tsunami divided an ocean; of bitter salt tears.
Transfiguration brine sea; into the sweetest of chilled; summer red wine.
Through the miracle of love; the world will be drunk; on spiritual love.
Who would have ever thought; that a flood of love; would come to rein.

A second flood that would save; wash clean an entire world.
A flood of love that would wash; clean all sins of earth world.
Washed clean slowly over gospel time; suddenly as waters of life
gather turn barren wastes; parched deserts into fertile lands of love.

Isaac Watts

Psalm 12

The saint's safety and hope in evil times.

Lord, if thou dost not soon appear,
Virtue and truth will fly away;
A faithful man amongst us here
Will scarce be found, if thou delay.

The whole discourse, when neighbors meet,
Is filled with trifles loose and vain;
Their lips are flattery and deceit,
And their proud language is profane.

But lips that with deceit abound
Shall not maintain their triumph long;
The God of vengeance will confound
The flattering and blaspheming tongue.

"Yet shall our words be free," they cry;
"Our tongues shall be controlled by none:
Where is the Lord will ask us why?
Or say our lips are not our own?"

The Lord, who sees the poor oppressed,
And hears th' oppressor's haughty strain,
Will rise to give his children rest,
Nor shall they trust his word in vain.

Thy word, O Lord, though often tried,
Void of deceit shall still appear;
Not silver, sev'n times purified
From dross and mixture, shines so clear.

Thy grace shall in the darkest hour
Defend the holy soul from harm;
Though when the vilest men have power,
On every side will sinners swarm.

Urania's Lover.

O poet, thou art called to tread her ways,
Hers, mistress of the soul, Urania fair.
(Ah God! how fair, how all adorable,
But those who have wooed her can tell!)
All of thy nights and days,
All of thy light and air,
Hers only, so thy soul shall haply win
Grace in those eyes
That goddess-wise
Smile in that heaven man's highest have enter'd in.
Thou'rt called to Love's high hest, soul-wooer thou
Of the divinest beauty man may know —
Soul-wooer and soul-winner, so thy feet
Fail not nor falter, so earth's cheat
Clip not thy burning brow
With its chill wreath, and so
Darken the heavenly light within the brain;
But let thy forehead be
Starred with pure poesy,
So thou to her high mystery attain.
Thy love a Goddess and her heaven thy home!
By the ethereal beauty in those eyes,
O poet! bless the loss of all things here
So but thy soul in that fine sphere,
Beloved of her, may roam
No more with wandering cries —
At last may bow before her face, and be,
Though woman-born, divine,
When all of hers is thine,
And thou a star of God's ascendency.
Ah! through that heaven shall not the wonder trail
Of thy first worship, like a comet's hair
Leagues on leagues floating from the flying star?
Shall not thy first faint steps afar
Move like a being pale
Amid the glory there
Up to the voiceless beauty of her brow,
As thou dost see, as 'twere,
Thy whole life with her there —
See from that height the depth where thou art now?

You've Been In Love

(Released as B-side of 'I Wish It Would Rain Down' single, 1990)
You've been in love that little bit too long
You've been in love and I think that you know
You've been in love it's time to move on
You've been in love and it's starting to show
She's getting to used to your face, getting too used to your smile
She's saying the same things every morning before you leave her
You'd better run, find out what's going through her mind
You'd better look out, cos he's not far behind
You've been in love that little bit too long
You've been in love and I think that you know
You've been in love it's time to move on
You've been in love and it's starting to show
Suddenly she's trying to please you, you start to think she's acting strange
And after all these years she wears make-up in the morning
You'd better run, find out what's going through her mind
You'd better look out, cos he's not far behind
Did you really believe she's doing it all for you?
Oh, can't you see, there's somebody else
You never showed it, you should have known it
You've been in love, yeah you've been in love
You've been in love, yeah you've been in love
Going round singing all those love songs, songs you haven't heard for years
You're gonna have to ask her why she's so happy
You'd better run, find out what's going through her mind.
But it may be too late, and I know why
You've been in love that little bit too long
You've been in love and I think that you know
You've been in love it's time to move on
You've been in love and it's starting to show
You've been in love that little bit too long
You've been in love, I think that you know
You've been in love it's time to move on
You've been in love and it's starting to show
To show, show, you've been in love, oh oh
(I've got blisters on my fingers!)

Her Heart Is Like A Rainbow!

Yes, her heart is like a rainbow God set upon the sky,
For here we see such colours flow, like twinkles in each eye!
Resplendent smiles transmit such joy that viewers stare amazed!
That's why she's liked by every boy and by each man she's praised!
When love begins to weave its spell to catch you unawares,
There's just no way that you can tell despite a million prayers...
Love strikes you like a thunderbolt - then suddenly you're caught!
Your heart is racing like a colt! She fills your every thought!
You hang upon her every word - a doting devotee!
Romance is kindled, hopes are stirred and even poetry!
They say that true love conquers all! It's friendly all the time!
You'll not find out until you fall... Like rainbows, love's sublime!
True love has secrets all its own to teach us tenderness...
One smile can melt a heart of stone, its emptiness to bless!
That's why her smile has magic, too, that only lovers sense...
To channel upbeat thoughts to you and all who are her friends...
There is no star that shines above to match her majesty!
So speaks the heart that's filled with love and knows its mystery!
Somehow she changes everything! It's magic, so it is!
Or could it be just the hoping for one teeny-weeny kiss?

A New Year's Message To Joseph Mazzini

Send the stars light, but send not love to me.
Shelley.

I

Out of the dawning heavens that hear
Young wings and feet of the new year
Move through their twilight, and shed round
Soft showers of sound,
Soothing the season with sweet rain,
If greeting come to make me fain,
What is it I can send again?

2

I know not if the year shall send
Tidings to usward as a friend,
And salutation, and such things
Bear on his wings
As the soul turns and thirsts unto
With hungering eyes and lips that sue
For that sweet food which makes all new.

3

I know not if his light shall be
Darkness, or else light verily:
I know but that it will not part
Heart's faith from heart,
Truth from the trust in truth, nor hope
From sight of days unscaled that ope
Beyond one poor year's horoscope.

4

That faith in love which love's self gives,
O master of my spirit, lives,
Having in presence unremoved
Thine head beloved,
The shadow of thee, the semitone
Of thy voice heard at heart and known,
The light of thee not set nor flown.

5

Seas, lands, and hours, can these divide
Love from love's service, side from side,
Though no sound pass nor breath be heard
Of one good word?
To send back words of trust to thee
Were to send wings to love, when he
With his own strong wings covers me.

6

Who shall teach singing to the spheres,
Or motion to the flight of years?
Let soul with soul keep hand in hand
And understand,
As in one same abiding-place
We keep one watch for one same face
To rise in some short sacred space.

7

And all space midway is but nought
To keep true heart from faithful thought,
As under twilight stars we wait
By Time's shut gate
Till the slow soundless hinges turn,
And through the depth of years that yearn
The face of the Republic burn.

I Never Stopped Loving You

From a distance I can see, the picture looks so clear to me --
Its a vantage point so few can hope to find,
And patience held the key, our love our only guarantee,
Our destiny to make it through the night
Through the tears and through the pain,
This house was built to stand the strain,
Through harder times I surely cant recall,
And crazy as it seems, through all we had were crazy dreams,
Those hungry years Ill miss the most of all --
*now at last, we fall together,
Weve been through it all together --
Ooh, I never stopped lovin you
When the money was short
And dreams were shattered
Faith in love was all
That pulled us through
I never stopped lovin you*
Ive stumbled on the way, so many nights love went astray --
At different times we each played separate fools,
But love became our pride, when once wed seen the other side --
Every highway led me back to you
Through the wind and through the rain,
This house was built to stand the strain
Though harder times I surely cant recall
( * repeat)
From a distance I can see, the picture looks so clear to me,
A vantage point that only love can find

We too shall Sleep

Not, not for thee,
Belovèd child, the burning grasp of life
Shall bruise the tender soul. The noise, and strife,
And clamor of midday thou shalt not see;
But wrapped for ever in thy quiet grave,
Too little to have known the earthly lot,
Time's clashing hosts above thine innocent head,
Wave upon wave,
Shall break, or pass as with an army's tread,
And harm thee not.

A few short years
We of the living flesh and restless brain
Shall plumb the deeps of life and know the strain,
The fleeting gleams of joy, the fruitless tears;
And then at last when all is touched and tried,
Our own immutable night shall fall, and deep
In the same silent plot, O little friend,
Side by thy side,
In peace that changeth not, nor knoweth end,
We too shall sleep.

Aching In My Heart

The aching in my heart
Like sweetest kiss of scent
From love's bouquet.
As I fly into Summer sky
Of blue.
Wearing white robes of cloud,
And the touch of you.
That gift from the sun,
The smile in your soul
Warms me.
With sweet embrace, you await.
Wearing the stars
As only your eyes can do.
The aching in my heart
That buzzes like the promise of Spring
Across field of dancing flower.
Conducted by the breeze.
Swaying in the twilight.
And waiting for the moon's late hour.
To light their canvas in blue.
What unknown chord
Love strikes within me.
You dance through every symphony unwritten.
Your beauty sings.
And you find me smitten.
Among forgotten rainbows,
Like silver raindrops
Crying on a window pane
I call in silence.
You thrill me and fill me
With the magic of a sunrise.
And the death of a sunset.
Waves
Only sweet goodbyes,
'Til tomorrows dawn whispers
We are both reborn.
I wait in eternity.
For your forever kiss.
Every night I hold you
In a dream
What bliss!
Where only you and I
Can play a part.
Will always exist
Within my aching heart.

Don't Tell the World that You're Waiting for Me

THREE summers have gone since the first time we met, love,
And still 'tis in vain that I ask thee to wed ;
I hear no reply but a gentle " Not yet, love,"
With a smile of your lip, and a shake of your head.
Ah ! how oft have I whispered, how oft have I sued thee,
And breathed my soul's question of " When shall it be ?"
You know, dear, how long and how truly I've wooed thee,
So don't tell the world that you're waiting for me.

I have fashioned a home, where the fairies might dwell, love,
I've planted the myrtle, the rose, and the vine ;
But the cottage to me is a mere hermit's cell, love,
And the bloom will be dull till the flowers are thine.
I've a ring of bright gold, which I gaze on when lonely,
And sigh with Hope's eloquence, " When will it be ?"
There needs but thy " Yes," love--one little word only,
So don't tell the world that you're waiting for me.

Two Sides

Well, theres two sides, to every situation
Yes, theres two sides, two interpretations
A laugh is a cry, hello means goodbye
Youre sayin something baby, I dont wanna buy
Well, theres two sides to every creation
You and me babe, were no revelation
Well, theres darkness in our light, and theres wrong in our right
Theres sorry babe, Im workin late tonight
Well, theres two sides, theres another side of me
Theres the one you think you live with, the one you never see
Its never really lived, but its never really died
Its never really made it but its tried
Well, theres two sides to every conversation
But with you babe, thats no consolation
Silence is golden, let me put you on hold
Danglin on your love line, baby, its growin old
Well, I dont know how to say it
Cause I never thought I could
God know Ive tried so many times
But theres two sides, theres another side of me
Theres the one you think you live with, the one you never see
Its never really lived, but its never really died
Its never really made it, but its tried
To every creation
Were no revelation
One sees the wrong, and one sees the right
The other side of me just caught a flight
Goodbye

I Must Be...

I must be for thee, all that I may-
If but hope do I, to start to repay
The debt owed you for my heart's exalt,
As you safely guard it, in your own's vault!

I must be for thee, all that you need,
For each and every want, I shall indeed
Make any and all effort, to make retort-
For the pleasure of your consort,
It is the least I may do, yet, still-
Remiss, if all your dreams do not fulfill!

I must be for thee, all that you are for me;
My heart's valiant protector, my love's verity-
Many may find love, though, ne'er as have I,
My soul's solitary compeer is now nigh!

Perchance, my beloved, I may not have word
For explication proper, yet this is assured-
I was meant for to become, and be, for thee,
All that you need for your soul's mate, to be;
I am the Sun, which gives rise at dusk, to your Moon;
You are the love, which for me, could ne'er come too soon!
You are the beauty, combined, from all that doth surround;
You are a wonderment which shall perpetually astound;
I am the mighty tree, shaped by your constant wind;
You are the awe-inspiring grace, that naught could portend!

Beautiful words have been combined, for many a year,
In attempt to capture my heart's exalt, and lend it to an ear!
Art has been fashioned, as a form of homage
Or to present to the world, one love's own visage!
Songs have been written, trying to capture the essence
Of same, yet still, words are bereft to define this pleasance!
Wars have been fought, since the dawn of time, in it's name-
Alas, there be victors, the delimitation is still the same!

Love is what makes all other emotions even possible,
Yet, its explication remains enigmatically implausible!
Still the same, the search for its capture shall continue,
In every way imaginable-forum, form, function and venue!

Though, for we two, all I may do is still endeavor, same-
For I am ever-captivated, and you are virtuously, to blame!
As stated many times previous and in ways, many,
Naught is there to draw compare to thee, nor shall, any!

Youth's Love

My soul saunters earth, searching for her
Arduously looking, my soul begins to stir
The ardent pot of amorous flu
Sick with love, pale white and blue
My soul weakens to every bubbling whim
Effortlessly emasculating my every bodily limb
Falling into hell, holding onto earth
Where her love dwell and doth give birth
To a new day, to a life of joy
Born a new man, as young as a boy
Where the years did fade into grayish dust
And my youthful smile, bloom into lustrous lust
I finally found her and she did find me
Youth and youth's love art we!
