Marina
At the marina in Hout Bay
expensive and fancy pleasure yachts were
lying on the surging swell
with water lapping at their bows
safe in a small harbour
and many times did I long
to be on one of those small ships,
to live such a pleasure filled life,
but it came to me how inconsequential
a live of wealth can be
as if my words, my reality
would loose all substance
while I witnessed fog sweeping in from the sea
blotting out each lovely drifting form
and still I had more horizons to explore,
had more words to write,
had more places to go
and things to experience,
as if my sails had to be set
into a world where storms rage
far from the sheltering

Joy and Pleasure
Now, joy is born of parents poor,
And pleasure of our richer kind;
Though pleasure's free, she cannot sing
As sweet a song as joy confined.
Pleasure's a Moth, that sleeps by day

The Prophet
Long ago a tall man told a tale of yesterday,
Searching for the truth to life and not for just a way.
Finding pleasure from this house his ears, they did obey;
In his life a moments pleasure, never to delay.
He was lost and in his trust he found a new meaning;
Seeing the things in diffrent lights his life was redeemed.
Words of peace will fill his mind and change his way of life;
Peaceful meetings with his heart have made him more alive.
Meeting wise old women on the cliffs of life itself;
Asking not for persnal meaning, more for just himself.
Soon well be as he proclaimed in a new way of living;
Take the things you need in life but remember the giving.
Prophesy within your mind and you will work it out;
Prophesy that some will die but only those who doubt.
Then youll never worry as somtimes you used to do;
Just remember when youre gone theres someone after you, you.
