Matthew Arnold

Consolation

Mist clogs the sunshine.
Smoky dwarf houses
Hem me round everywhere;
A vague dejection
Weighs down my soul.

Yet, while I languish,
Everywhere countless
Prospects unroll themselves,
And countless beings
Pass countless moods.

Far hence, in Asia,
On the smooth convent-roofs,
On the gilt terraces,
Of holy Lassa,
Bright shines the sun.

Grey time-worn marbles
Hold the pure Muses;
In their cool gallery,
By yellow Tiber,
They still look fair.

Strange unloved uproar
Shrills round their portal;
Yet not on Helicon
Kept they more cloudless
Their noble calm.

Through sun-proof alleys
In a lone, sand-hemm'd
City of Africa,
A blind, led beggar,
Age-bow'd, asks alms.

No bolder robber
Erst abode ambush'd
Deep in the sandy waste;
No clearer eyesight
Spied prey afar.

Saharan sand-winds
Sear'd his keen eyeballs;
Spent is the spoil he won.
For him the present
Holds only pain.

Two young, fair lovers,
Where the warm June-wind,
Fresh from the summer fields
Plays fondly round them,
Stand, tranced in joy.

With sweet, join'd voices,
And with eyes brimming:
'Ah,' they cry, 'Destiny,
Prolong the present!
Time, stand still here!'

The prompt stern Goddess
Shakes her head, frowning;
Time gives his hour-glass
Its due reversal;
Their hour is gone.

With weak indulgence
Did the just Goddess
Lengthen their happiness,
She lengthen'd also
Distress elsewhere.

The hour, whose happy
Unalloy'd moments
I would eternalise,
Ten thousand mourners
Well pleased see end.

The bleak, stern hour,
Whose severe moments
I would annihilate,
Is pass'd by others
In warmth, light, joy.

Time, so complain'd of,
Who to no one man
Shows partiality,
Brings round to all men
Some undimm'd hours.

Hourglass

The sand flows through, marks grain by rain
the minutes which won’t come again.
Moments of pain, moments of pleasure.
They record with equal measure.
They mark them with a steady flow
the sand above drips down below.
Then when the final grain has dropped
It does not mean that time has stopped.
It’s time to turn the hour glass
so that the grains may freely pass.
From up above again below.
Time will not stop if they don’t flow.
But if it did how would you know
without the sand to tell you so.

Rejoice

(jon anderson)
Rejoice forward out this feeling
Ten true summers long
We go round and round and round and round
Until we pick it up again
Time flies, on and on it goes
Thru the setting sun
Carry round and round and round and round
Until it comes to carry you home
Rejoice forward out this feeling
The white eagle soars
He goes round and round and round
Until the early winds of change
Dawns new light conquering timeless ease
Spread the harvest breeze
Let our hour of passion
Gently hold our heads on high with you
Gently hold our heads on high

Seen Through My Eyes 1371 Sandrine Bonnant after William Shakespeare Sonnet CIV

Seen through my eyes she never shall grow old,
As sweet she blossoms, mete she'll ever be,
Now fair among the fair, - their beauty, cold,
Defers to hers in depth and quality.
Rise and fall of seasons have I seen,
It's evident, though her Time's been defeated,
Nor shall decay add grey to sable sheen,
Ever round her Muses nine are seated.
But vain watch hands spin round each soundless hour.
On one no second thoughts shall spin awry,
No change - enchanted magic - still she'll flower!
Night turns to day, light's interplays defy
All aging grey, one tender beauty may
Trap fourth dimension interference play.

Los Flores de la Luna

No one in the world
Be quite like you
With honeysuckle eyes

Happiness and sad
Flow through my roots
Like time through sand

I have seen the
Ever blooming lotus,
To grace these lips
Life’s most humorous

Happiness and sad
Flow through my roots
Like time through sand

Above all others
You are a flower
Growing ever more
Vibrant hour by hour

Happiness and sad
Flow through my roots
Like time through sand

All flowers will fade
As beauty will too,
But a beautiful mind
Will always remain new

Happiness and sad
Flow through my roots
Like time through sand

Country Fair

We stood and watched the river flow
We were too young to really know
In the country fair
Oh, in the country fair
We laid out in the long green grass
And never thought that it would pass
In the country fair
In the country fair
On an old, on an old open day
On an old rainshine open day
In the country fair
In the cool night air
In sweet summer time
We counted pebbles in the sand
Sand like time slippin through our hand
In the country fair
In the country fair
On an old, on an old open day
On an old raintrack open day
In the country fair
In the cool night air
In sweet summer time
Hmmm mmmm
On an old open day
On an old
Pinecone open day

Round And Round And Round

round and round and round and round and round we go
trying so hard to get a hold of everyone here
we've got to show how much we love them all
we squeak with idiot fake surprise
flap our hands and flutter our eyes
and lap up all their stupid lies
we've got to love them all
and I really don't know why we do it like this
imitation smiles and how 'it's wonderful to be her
i'm really not sure what we're so scared we'll mis
so round and round and round and round and round we go
hanging on every shape they throw
it's strange the way we can't say no
until we love them all...
so we laugh at every stupid joke
and smoke and choke and point and poke
and gag on countless lines...
how much we love them all!
and I really don't know why we do it like this
imitation smiles and how 'it's wonderful to be her
i'm really not sure what we're so scared we'll mis
maybe it's the sex with the drugs and the fools
or maybe it's the promise of belief?
maybe it's the pleasure and the pain of the cruel
or maybe it's the promise of relief?
and I know that we've said it so many times
'once more and never again'
but however many times that we've said it before
once more is never the end...

To Be Mooned

What a wonderful time it is...
Wth you at this hour.
To be mooned.
And gaze upon the stars.
As we lay on sand.
And underneath warm blankets.
Wishing to sip quickly...
On a glass of wine you get.
So I can again admire the placement of that 'zit'.
On your round and muscular,
Tight and luscious ass.

The House of the Life: Silent Noon

Your hands lie open in the long fresh grass, --
The finger-points look through like rosy blooms:
Your eyes smile peace. The pasture gleams and glooms
'Neath billowing skies that scatter and amass.
All round our nest, far as the eye can pass,
Are golden kingcup-fields with silver edge
Where the cow-parsley skirts the hawthorn-hedge.
'Tis visible silence, still as the hour-glass.

Deep in the sun-searched growths the dragon-fly
Hangs like a blue thread loosened from the sky: --
So this wing'd hour is dropt to us from above.
Oh! clasp we to our hearts, for deathless dower,
This close-companioned inarticulate hour
When twofold silence was the song of love.

Spinning Around Over You

Baby, tell me that my love ain't good
I don't treat you right
I don't do it like I should
You try to tell me that my heart ain't true
How would I waste my time doin' all I do for you ?
You ask me, baby, why you hesitate
That you just can't wait
But it takes the time it takes
Spinnin' round and round and round and
Spinnin' round and round and round and
Spinnin' round and round over you
You think I dissed you , so you pack your bags
You just kicked me 'round
You just through me out like trash
Now baby, babe, Im on my knees for you
Well I might be late but what you're gonna do ?
Spinnin' round and round and round and
Spinnin' round and round and round and
Spinnin' round and round over you
Baby, baby, gimme half a chance
I could treat you right
I'll give you good times and romance
'Cause baby, baby, I'm in love with you
You're my superstar
Tu es mon petit chouchou yeah
Spinnin' round and round and round
Spinnin' round and round and round
Spinnin' round and round over you

Til The Season Comes Around Again

til the season comes round again
(john jarvis, randy goodrum)
Come and gather round at the table
In the spirit of family and friends
And well all join hands and remember this moment
til the season comes round again
So let us smile for the picture
And well hold it as long as we can
May it carry us through should we ever get lonely
til the season comes round again
Bridge:
One night, holy and bright
Shining with love from our hearts
By a warm fire lets lift our hands high
And be thankful were here til this time next year
May the new year be blessed with good tidings
til the next time I see you again
If we must say goodbye let the spirit go with you
til the season comes round again
Repeat bridge
May the new year be blessed with good tidings
til the next time I see you again
And well all join hands and remember this moment
And well love and well laugh in the time that we have
til the season comes round again
til the season comes round again

You & I

Oh, you and i
The time we spent together ends too soon
Like sun sets to the moon
So breath my beautiful
I often find that Ive been losing time
Cos what you said last night
That play upon my mind
Like thoughts of
Chorus:
You and i
You and i
It goes round my head like a carousel
And round and round my mind
You and i
You and i
I know what to do when Im not with you
I fill my mind with thoughts of
You and i
You and i
A simple need of love is what you bring
It plays on my hearts strings
Songs of love to be loved
Got me thinking of
Our moments that are gone but will not fade
And we live to be replayed
In my mind overtime
Like thoughts of
(chorus)
Well I know well make mistakes
But thats just the chance we take
I hope youll never say
Cos Ill never say
Goodbye
Say goodbye
To you and I (you and I)
You and I (you are always on my mind)
It goes round my head like a carousel
And round and round my mind
You and I (you are always on my mind)
You and I (youve just got to give me a try)
I know what to do when Im not with you
I fill my mind with thoughts of
You and i
You and i

Scenes In London I - Piccadilly

THE sun is on the crowded street,
It kindles those old towers;
Where England's noblest memories meet,
Of old historic hours.

Vast, shadowy, dark, and indistinct,
Tradition's giant fane,
Whereto a thousand years are linked,
In one electric chain.

So stands it when the morning light
First steals upon the skies;
And shadow'd by the fallen night,
The sleeping city lies.

It stands with darkness round it cast,
Touched by the first cold shine;
Vast, vague, and mighty as the past,
Of which it is the shrine.

'Tis lovely when the moonlight falls
Around the sculptured stone
Giving a softness to the walls,
Like love that mourns the gone.

Then comes the gentlest influence
The human heart can know,
The mourning over those gone hence
To the still dust below.

The smoke, the noise, the dust of day,
Have vanished from the scene;
The pale lamps gleam with spirit ray
O'er the park's sweeping green.

Sad shining on her lonely path,
The moon's calm smile above,
Seems as it lulled life's toil and wrath
With universal love.

Past that still hour, and its pale moon,
The city is alive;
It is the busy hour of noon,
When man must seek and strive.

The pressure of our actual life
Is on the waking brow;
Labour and care, endurance, strife,
These are around him now.

How wonderful the common street,
Its tumult and its throng,
The hurrying of the thousand feet
That bear life's cares along.

How strongly is the present felt,
With such a scene beside;
All sounds in one vast murmur melt
The thunder of the tide.

All hurry on—none pause to look
Upon another's face:
The present is an open book
None read, yet all must trace.

The poor man hurries on his race,
His daily bread to find;
The rich man has yet wearier chase,
For pleasure's hard to bind.

All hurry, though it is to pass
For which they live so fast—
What doth the present but amass,
The wealth that makes the past.

The past is round us—those old spires
That glimmer o'er our head;
Not from the present is their fires,
Their light is from the dead.

But for the past, the present's powers
Were waste of toil and mind;
But for those long and glorious hours
Which leave themselves behind.
