I learned in the last few years that it's really unhappy and really unsustainable to try and base your well being on something as arbitrary as record sale and critical acclaim and the interests of the public. All of those things are so fickle. So my approach now to music is I want to make records that I love, and I hope that other people love them, then that's OK.

When it all started, record companies - and there were many of them, and this was a good thing - were run by people who loved records, people like Ahmet Ertegun, who ran Atlantic Records, who were record collectors. They got in it because they loved music.

Love For Sale (extended Mix)
I was born in a house with the television always on
Guess I grew up too fast
And I forgot my name
We're in cities at night and we got time on our hands.
So leave the driving to us.
And it's the real thing.
And you're rolling
In the blender
With me.
And I can love you
Like a color
TV.
Now love is here
C'mon and try it
I got love for sale
Got love for sale
And now love is here
C'mon and try it
Got love for sale,
Got love for sale.
You can put your lipstick all over my designer jeans.
I'll be a video for you.
If you turn my dial.
You can cash my check if you go down to the bank
You get two for one
For a limited time.
Push my button...
The toast pops up
Love and money
Gettin' all
Mixed up
And now love is here
C'mon and try it.
I got love for sale
Got love for sale
Love is here
C'mon and try it
I got love for sale

Love for sale.
Appetizing, young love for sale.
Love thats fresh and still unspoiled. love thats only slighty soiled.
Love for sale.
Who will buy?
Who will like to sample my supply?
Whos prepared to pay the price for a trip to paradise?
Love for sale.
Let the poets pipe of love in their childish way.
I know every type of love better far than they.
If you want the thrill of love Ive been through the midl of love.
Old love. new love. every love, but true love.
Love for sale.
Appetizing young love for sale.
If you want to buy my wares, follow me and climb the stairs.
Love for sale.

Blackheart Records being 25 years old represents staying power and the fact that we weren't able to get a record out through conventional means, so we had to create this record company to put out our records if we wanted to be a band that had records to give out to their fans.

Love For Sale
When the only sound in the empty street,
Is the heavy tread of the heavy feet
That belong to a lonesome cop
I open shop.
When the moon so long has been gazing down
On the wayward ways of this wayward town.
That her smile becomes a smirk,
I go to work.
Love for sale,
Appetising young love for sale.
Love thats fresh and still unspoiled,
Love thats only slightly soiled,
Love for sale.

I think some people record songs and make records a certain way to cater to radio. If you're born to make commercial music that's cool. But if you're born to not make commercial records, maybe you're meant to cater to another market.

One Bright Day
One bright day the people together
one bright day the people together
one bright day the people together
one bright day the people together
There will be celebrations around the nations
love without no care
there will be singing, plenty swining
live witout that fear
One bright day the people together
one bright day the people together
yes it was one bright day
yes it is one bright day
There is music, you choose it, love it,love it
hear this music, don't loose it, love it,love it
One bright day the people together
one bright day the people together
Hey, unnuh see the one bright day, South Africa free
Believe me, one bright day, drugs free country
Make it to the one bright day
a said the struggle to the one bright day
struggle to the one bright day
struggle to the one bright day
Make it to the two bright days
make it to thre-------ooh
lord, the people got together
the people got together
So there can be, many, many, years and years and years

Her...
I can never get my mind off her,
I wonder if she'd mind if i'd,
make her my own,
and never let her go,
hug her tight,
treat her right,
act all polite,
take her on a date,
make sure i'm never late,
kiss her on her lips,
talk about our kids,
Make her feel like princess,
living in a castle,
hope that is not too much hassle,
But i am so blessed,
hope i can be the best,
hold you tight,
have your BR3A$t,
on my chest,
pass the test,
NOW YOUR MINE!

Cheap Shot
Well the record company's goin' out of business
They price the records too damn high
And the boys in the band could use some assistance
Well the record company's goin' out of business
They price the records too damn high
And the boys in the band could use some assistance
Get a daytime job just to get by
Well the P.D.'s they won't play the record
They're too worried about that book
And the D.J's they all hate the song
But they're in love with the hook
Chorus
So na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
I bet you've heard this song before
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
Take your cocaine and hit the door
Well folk rock, punk rock, power pop music
Turned out to be the latest trends
And ther ain't no more progressive music
The business has put it to an end
Ol' "Rolling Stone" has gathered some moss
No they ain't what they used to be
They try to look like "Look" with their political pages
And advertising all over T.V.

When I did the record, I was coming off a time when my contract had been sold and the music industry had changed a lot. I didn't understand how to make records for big labels. I was waiting for a new kind of record label to emerge.

Nothin' New
Why is nothing ever new for long
And things go wrong in time
How come love is never new for long
We feel a change inside
Things no longer feel the way they did
People never care the way they did
Lovers never love the way they did
We've got to make it last
Got to fan the spark
People know that love is often cruel
But still they fall in love
I believe that only goes to prove
That love's what we dream of
Even if things can never be the way they were
But if you just hold on your luck might take a turn
We should put in practice
What we've learned
That love's the only way
We've got to make it stay
Life goes on
Nothing's ever new
Maybe different that before
You may not believe me
But nothing's ever
