But, number one, I think traditional noir doesn't work in contemporary storytelling because we don't live in that world anymore.

So many of the sounds that contemporary composers were trying to create were to be found in the traditional musics of the world. That was encouraging but also little daunting to think that you had to work so hard to be new and yet it was old.

Three In Numer
We three in number
Doing together
The work with us
We three in number
Gather mangofruits
Count flying birds
We three in number
Looking the world
That is smiling
We three in number
Staying together
And in peace
And we can not live
minus one other.

Number One
Words & music: d. hall
Old girlfriend she come walkin down the street
When I saw her it was like seeing a stranger
But even if I try to work it up no emotions are there
Thats when I realise what you are to me
And how much I really care
Number one
Youre number one with me
Blast from the past say why dont you call me anymore
Its been too long and some nights I need you so.
But even if I tried to work it up no emotions are there
And I realised what you are to me
And how much I really care
Number one
Youre number one with me

The Lifer
The Lifer
Eye feel so sorry for someone that cares for only work and cannot have a little fun it seems so sad to me they cannot use the world to live or love but robot only seems to me a fate as worse as any death has come to those in work zones he looked for all the world a sad sad man when he said there is only work related things allowed on his bulletin board in the work zone land. He has helped me many times but now he told me with his eyes that eye am just a cipher in his life he died when he signed up for cash a lifer stuck upon the number given him when job was given name a number in the zone a lifeless thing a lifer come to stay how many gentle readers have the number or the name just like the lifer man the game is god the thing is done now no new information in the lifer zone allowed. No Soul.

The storytelling gift is innate: one has it or one doesn't. But style is at least partly a learned thing: one refines it by looking and listening and reading and practice - by work.

Dont Work No More...
'i'm sorry's'
don't fix broken heart's and
don't work anymore.
'oopsies'
don't dry tears and
don't work anymore.
'i'll be better next time'
are just a waste of time and
don't work anymore.
And 'i promise'
don't mean anything anymore.
NOTHING WORKS ANYMORE.

Written.
I will still love you
Until the stars doesn't
dress the heaven
Until the heaven doesn't
reflect by river
Until the river doesn't
reach the ocean
Until the ocean doesn't
touch the sand
Until the sand doesn't
unmake its number
Until the last number doesn't
unrevealed its name
Even if our name in one soul doesn't
be written

Face
She's got an iron will
She's gonna do what she thinks is right
I know she will
And as for me I'm not that silent
It's hard to live in a world this quiet
And if you want me to let you go
Well I think you should know
That I tried hard to live without you
But it doesn't work for me
And I tried not to think about you
But your in all my dreams
I can't stand living on my own
I can't stand staring into space
I hate that everything I see turns into your face
She left an empty house
Without a word, without a sound
Without a shout
And as for me I'm not that silent
It's hard to live in a world this quiet
And if you want me to let you go
Well I think you should know
That I tried hard to live without you
But it doesn't work for me
And I tried not to think about you
But your in all my dreams
I can't stand living on my own
I can't stand staring into space
I hate that everything I see turns into your face
My teary eyes have seen all I wanna see
Of the world
I tried hard to live without you
But it doesn't work for me
And I tried not to think about you
But your in all my dreams
I can't stand living on my own
I can't stand staring into space
I hate that everything I see turns into your face
Turns into your face

You Can't Make What Doesn't Work
You can't make what doesn't work,
For me exist.
If it is clear to me,
My life's just fine without it.
I want to say that,
You can't make what doesn't work...
For me exist.
When my happiness,
Doesn't depend on it.
I have my own beliefs,
That satisifies my every need.
The memories that I keep,
Reminds me how I stood...
Up on my own two feet.
No you can't make what doesn't work,
For me exist.
If with a faith I took risks,
And decided that my own life I would live.
I have my own beliefs,
That satisifies my every need.
The memories that I keep,
Reminds me how I got to stand up..
On my own two feet.
Oh...
You can't make what doesn't work,
For me exist.
If it is clear to me,
My life's just fine without it.
So, if it doesn't work for you,
Why do you wish to prove...
What it is that I do,
Is a waste of effort.
So, if it doesn't work for you,
Why do you wish to prove...
What it is that I do,
Is to me a disservice.
You can't make what doesn't work,
For me exist.
If it is clear to me,
My life's just fine without it.

No More
Your laughter
Isn't funny
Doesn't make me smile
Anymore
You treat me like dirt
You've stepped on
In your new shoes
So you smiling
Doesn't make me the image
Anymore
I end up in tears
When you laugh
I'd rather laugh
When you cry
You don't make my heart skip a beat
Anymore
It's well and truely gone
Overboard
So far in the distance
That you'll never see my shadow
Again
There's no point in
'Loving you'
Anymore

Top Ten Reasons I Would Make a Lousy Poetry Critic
(Letterman style countdown)
Number Ten: Because I probably lack the skill to determine where another’s failings lie
Number Nine: Because I doubt that anyone else really has such infallible skill
Number Eight: Because I lack the desire to render negative opinions of another’s work
Number Seven: Because I question the true motives of any one who readily renders scathing critiques
Number Six: Because I believe in positive reinforcement rather than accentuating negatives
Number Five: Because I don’t wish to have any hand in discouraging or killing the dreams of other poets
Number Four: Because I believe that what people write is far more important than the skill they show in doing it.
Number Three: Because the majority of poetry derives from a warm heart and most criticism originates from cold indifferent intellect
Number Two: Because I know what it feels like to be on the other end of the equation
And the Number One reason I would make a lousy poetry critic:
Because, poetically speaking, I live in a glass house.

Green Pastures
(traditional/brian ahern)
Troubles and trials often betray those
On in the weary body to stray
But we shall walk beside the still waters
With the good shepherd leading the way
Those who have strayed were sought by the master
He who once gave his life for the sheep
Out on the mountain still he is searching
Bringing them in forever to keep
Going up home to live in green pastures
Where we shall live and die never more
Even the lord will be in that number
When we shall reach that heavenly shore
We will not heed the voice of the stranger
For he would lead us all to despair
Following on with jesus our savior
We shall all reach that country so fair
Going up home to live in green pastures
Where we shall live and die never more
Even the lord will be in that number
When we shall reach that heavenly shore

Love Don't Live Here Anymore
[Faith Evans]
1 you abandoned me
love don't live here anymore
just a vacancy
love don't live here anymore
when you lived inside of me
there was nothing i could conceive
that you wouldn't do for me
trouble seemed so far away
you changed that right away
[repeat 1]
oh oh
[Mary J Blige]
love don't live here anymore
just emptiness and memories of what we had before
you went away
found another place to stay another heart
[repeat 1]
oh oh oh
[Faith Evans]
through the windows of my eyes
everyone can see the loneliness inside of me
why did you have to go away
don't you know i miss you so
i need your love
[repeat 1]
[Mary J Blige]
[repeat 1]
[Both]
love don't live here
love don't live here anymore
love don't live here
love don't live here anymore
love don't live here
love don't live here anymore
love don't live here
love don't live here anymore

First, it doesn't surprise me that traditional music has experienced a kind of exhaustion in the 20th century - not forgetting that many musicians started to look outside the traditional structures of tonality.

She Doesnt Live Here Anymore
We grew up together, weve been here forever.
Barefoot in the summer, cold in stormy weather.
She taught me all there is, like magic and love,
Lots of forgotten words
But now, she doesnt live here anymore.
Shes off and shes gone, she doesnt live here anymore.
Im sorry thats all there is to it, Im sorry thats all
She dressed just like a painter, a female street picasso
And i, I will remember the heaven in her laughter.
And the scent of her sweet perfume when we made love
Under an august moon
But now, she doesnt live here anymore.
Shes off and shes gone, she doesnt live here anymore.
Shes gone since long, so long, she doesnt live here anymore.
She took off and left home, she doesnt live here anymore.
Im sorry thats all there is to it, Im sorry thats all. thats all.
