Old Age

The seas are quiet when the winds give o'er;
So calm are we when passions are no more.
For then we know how vain it was to boast
Of fleeting things, so certain to be lost.
Clouds of affection from our younger eyes
Conceal that emptiness which age descries.

The soul's dark cottage, batter'd and decay'd,
Lets in new light through chinks that Time hath made:
Stronger by weakness, wiser men become
As they draw near to their eternal home.
Leaving the old, both worlds at once they view
That stand upon the threshold of the new.

Of the Last Verses in the Book

When we for age could neither read nor write,
The subject made us able to indite.
The soul, with nobler resolutions deckt,
The body stooping, does herself erect:
No mortal parts are requisite to raise
Her, that unbodied can her Maker praise.

The seas are quiet, when the winds give o'er,
So calm are we, when passions are no more:
For then we know how vain it was to boast
Of fleeting things, so certain to be lost.
Clouds of affection from our younger eyes
Conceal that emptiness, which age descries.

The soul's dark cottage, batter'd and decay'd,
Lets in new light through chinks that time has made;
Stronger by weakness, wiser men become
As they draw near to their eternal home:
Leaving the old, both worlds at once they view,

Earth's Eternity

Man, Earth's poor shadow! talks of Earth's decay:
But hath it nothing of eternal kin?
No majesty that shall not pass away?
No soul of greatness springing up within?
Thought marks without hoar shadows of sublime,
Pictures of power, which if not doomed to win
Eternity, stand laughing at old Time
For ages: in the grand ancestral line
Of things eternal, mounting to divine,
I read Magnificence where ages pay
Worship like conquered foes to the Apennine,
Because they could not conquer. There sits Day
Too high for Night to come at--mountains shine,
Outpeering Time, too lofty for decay.

The Ocean To Cynthia

But stay, my thoughts, make end, give fortune way ;
Harsh is the voice of woe and sorrow's sound ;
Complaints cure not, and tears do but allay
Griefs for a time, which after more abound.

To seek for moisture in the Arabian sand
Is but a loss of labor and of rest ;
The links which time did break of hearty bands

Words cannot knit, or wailings make anew.
Seek not the sun in clouds when it is set.
On highest mountains, where those cedars grew,
Against whose banks the troubled ocean beat,

And were the marks to find thy hopëd port,
Into a soil far off themselves remove ;
On Sestos' shore, Leander's late resort,
Hero hath left no lamp to guide her love.

Thou lookest for light in vain, and storms arise;
She sleeps thy death that erst thy danger sighed;
Strive then no more, bow down thy weary eyes,
Eyes which to all these woes thy heart have guided.

She is gone, she is lost, she is found, she is ever fair;
Sorrow draws weakly where love draws not too;
Woe's cries sound nothing, but only in love's ear.
Do then by dying what life cannot do.
Unfold thy flocks and leave them to the fields,
To feed on hills or dales, where likes them best,
Of what the summer or the springtime yields,
For love and time hath given thee leave to rest.

Thy heart which was their fold, now in decay
By often storms and winter's many blasts,
All torn and rent becomes misfortune's prey;
False hope, my shepherd's staff, now age hath brast.

My pipe, which love's own hand gave my desire
To sing her praises and my woe upon,
Despair hath often threatened to the fire,
As vain to keep now all the rest are gone.

Thus home I draw, as death's long night draws on;
Yet every foot, old thoughts turn back mine eyes;
Constraint me guides, as old age draws a stone
Against the hill, which over-weighty lies

For feeble arms or wasted strength to move:
My steps are backward, gazing on my loss,
My mind's affection and my soul's sole love,
Not mixed with fancy's chaff or fortune's dross.

To God I leave it, who first gave it me,
And I her gave, and she returned again,
As it was hers; so let His mercies be
Of my last comforts the essential mean.

But be it so or not, the effects are past;
Her love hath end; my woe must ever last.

Lost Guide

Lost Guide

Between two worlds, between two side
I don't know which is wrong, And which is all right…
I don't know anything; I am a lost, lost guide…
Something covers my eyes, I can't see any light
Just the dark, the cold, the damn side….
I can't hear any voice, It is so quiet…..
I feel lost, I am lost, lost guide….

Isn't anyone come to me?
Show me the way of me?
Let me see the shinny light….?
Set me free from those dark nights?

There is no one can show me my side
So I'll stay alone and contain my fight
The fight between the dark and the light
Nothing will be all right….

In our days there is no more guide
No one here knows the right
We banned from seeing light
We all lost, lost guides.

Ye believe in God--believe also in Me

He in heaven who ever liveth,
Thus hath spoken: 'Not to you
Give I, as the vain world giveth,
Fleeting things and worthless too;
But my peace, serene, unfading,
Round your earthly steps shall shine;
All your heav'nward way pervading
With a stream of light divine.

'Be not troubled, sad, or cheerless;
Trust in me, and trust in God-
He shall lead you calm and fearless,
Through life's dark and varied road:
He shall bring you to the mansion
Where the spirit, blest and free,
Revels in its own expansion-
Trust in God, and trust in me.'

The Last Song of Sappho

SOUND on, thou dark unslumbering sea!
My dirge is in thy moan;
My spirit finds response in thee,
To its own ceaseless cry-'Alone, alone !'

Yet send me back one other word,
Ye tones that never cease !
Oh ! let your secret caves be stirr'd,
And say, dark waters! will ye give me peace?

Away! my weary soul hath sought
In vain one echoing sigh,
One answer to consuming thought
In human hearts-and will the wave reply ?

Sound on, thou dark, unslumbering sea!
Sound in thy scorn and pride !
I ask not, alien world, from thee,
What my own kindred earth hath still denied.

And yet I loved that earth so well,
With all its lovely things!
-Was it for this the death-wind fell
On my rich lyre, and quench'd its living strings?

-Let them lie silent at my feet !
Since broken even as they,
The heart whose music made them sweet,
Hath pour'd on desert-sands its wealth away.

Yet glory's light hath touch'd my name,
The laurel-wreath is mine-
-With a lone heart, a weary frame-
O restless deep ! I come to make them thine !

Give to that crown, that burning crown,
Place in thy darkest hold!
Bury my anguish, my renown,
With hidden wrecks, lost gems, and wasted gold.

Thou sea-bird on the billow's crest,
Thou hast thy love, thy home;
They wait thee in the quiet nest,
And I, the unsought, unwatch'd-for-I too come!

I, with this winged nature fraught,
These visions wildly free,
This boundless love, this fiery thought-
Alone I come-oh ! give me peace, dark sea!

In The Dark...

In the dark I stand alone
In the dark I think this is my home

I think of you in the dark
I think of our possible love in the dark

I believe in you to lead me to the dark light
So here I am in the dark as I await

In the dark I stand alone

For every tear I shed, you take a piece of light
With every piece of light you own my soul

I love this, but will you ever return my love

In the dark I stand alone

Even the hurt can not keep me away
I still fight to be in you veins

In the dark I stand alone
In the dark I think of you as home

Emptiness Descends

I've lost him in the clouds
gone from my view,
And however deep I seek
I can't pursue,
This man who was my love
someone so true,
So very much my refuge
my rendezvous.
Such emptiness descends
my world is blue!

If I could fly up high
would he be there,
Looking down with eyes
that show his care,
Remembering the times
we used to share,
There isn't anyone
who can compare,
Such emptiness descends
he's gone elsewhere.

But I will hold him here
within my soul,
And cherish all we had
so I feel whole,
He'll always be with me
and will console,
This hurting heart of mine
which all condole.
Such emptiness descends
what is my role!

I'm out there on my own
I must last through,
For without his hand to guide
I've no value,
To finding my way alone
I have no clue,
Where will I go from here,
what will ensue.
Such emptiness descends
on my debut!

Mothers Day2007

She hath my heart, she is my mum.
She hath my heart, she is my only, she is my one.
She hath my heart, though rough winds may blow.
She hath my heart, still her love will flow, her love will always show.
She hath my heart, I thank my lucky stars.
She hath my heart and i have hers.
She hath my heart, i long for her presence.
She hath my heart, her name is essence.
She hath my heart and forever she will.
Lifetimes will come and go, i will love her still
She hath my heart, this fact i cant conceal
Our bond is like sentiment you just cant kill
She hath my heart in times of sorrow.
She hath my heart, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
She hath my heart, my voice will sing.
She hath my heart, she makes the bell in my heart ring.
She hath my heart, in times of trouble.
She wont stumble no i will not let her crumble.
She hath my heart in each and every way
And my love for her grows with each day
She hath my heart for we were once one.
She hath my heart, the heart of the boy inside the man
I hath her heart, the heart we once shared.
Though separated in body the hearts still paired.
She hath my heart i need her near.
She hath my heart my mama dear
She hath my heart and she already knows
In a world of thorny bushes she stands out like rose
She hath my heart for she is always by my side
When the sun sets she is my light, she is my guide.

To The Rev. Dr. Thomas Amory, On Reading His Sermons On Daily Devotion, In Which that Duty Is Recommended And Assisted

TO cultivate in ev'ry noble mind
Habitual grace, and sentiments refin'd,
Thus while you strive to mend the human heart,
Thus while the heav'nly precepts you impart,
O may each bosom catch the sacred fire,
And youthful minds to Virtue's throne aspire!
When God's eternal ways you set in sight,
And Virtue shines in all her native light,
In vain would Vice her works in night conceal,
For Wisdom's eye pervades the sable veil.
Artists may paint the sun's effulgent rays,
But Amory's pen the brighter God displays:
While his great works in Amory's pages shine,
And while he proves his essence all divine,
The Atheist sure no more can boast aloud
Of chance, or nature, and exclude the God;
As if the clay without the potter's aid
Should rise in various forms, and shapes self-made,
Or worlds above with orb o'er orb profound
Self-mov'd could run the everlasting round.
It cannot be--unerring Wisdom guides
With eye propitious, and o'er all presides.
Still prosper, Amory! still may'st thou receive
The warmest blessings which a muse can give,
And when this transitory state is o'er,
When kingdoms fall, and fleeting Fame's no more,
May Amory triumph in immortal fame,
A nobler title, and superior name!

Hymn 120

Faith of things unseen.

Heb. 11

Faith is the brightest evidence
Of things beyond our sight,
Breaks through the clouds of flesh and sense,
And dwells in heav'nly light.

It sets times past in present view,
Brings distant prospects home,
Of things a thousand years ago,
Or thousand years to come.

By faith we know the worlds were made
By God's almighty word;
Abram, to unknown countries led,
By faith obeyed the Lord.

He sought a city fair and high,
Built by th' eternal hands,
And faith assures us, though we die,
That heav'nly building stands.

Farewell To Miss E. B.

(Written in her sixteenth year.)

Farewell, and whenever calm solitude's hour,
Shall silently spread its broad wings o'er your bower,
Oh! then gaze on yon planet, yon watch-fire divine,
And believe that my soul is there mingling with thine.

When the dark brow of evening is beaming with stars,
And yon crest of light clouds is the turban she wears,
When she walks forth in grandeur, the queen of the night,
Oh! then think that my spirit looks on with delight.

O'er the ocean of life our frail vessels are bounding,
And danger and death our dark pathway surrounding;
Destruction's bright meteors are dancing before,
And behind us the winds of adversity roar.

Oh! then come, let us light friendship's lamp on the wave,
If we're lost, it will shed its pure light o'er the grave,
Or 't will guide to the haven of Heaven at last,
And beam on when the voice of the trumpet hath past.

That Merciless Clock

Those hands never cease.
They batter body and mind
And seem to increase
Leaving wreckage behind.
They accelerate in every way,
Exacting ever more painful pay
For abuses of a younger day.

Constantly those arms flail greedily,
Consuming a little more of me.
Their march to the right seems wrong
Since it only hastens my end along.

That expressionless ever changing face
Moves with an increasing pace
Leaving me less and less space
Until my time encounters an eternal lock
Orchestrated by that merciless clock.

Estrella

Mystery voice whispering sound
Sound of silence, echoes the emptiness
Haunting in chamber of the darkness
Within a sanctuary of nothingness
Embraced, in a giant continent

Hushing the bright,
Parfum de paradise sprayed
Emancipate dusts to be in celestial arm
Touched in calm, with love, He made warm
Pure affection stirred into gravitational attraction
So that the love light can bind, gracing the space
After blowing dearly soul to the center of heart
New born arrived, radiated to the core bright
Wonder if the angels were busy that night
Delivering you a life, new born star to rise

In a far distance,
Reflecting serenade in our eyes
All candles in the sky, diamonds of the night
Letting the heartbeats twinkle, blinking the light
Inspired every single eye to brighten their hearts
As a single shine shimmering the beauty of dark

If other sparks enthrall your sight
My dear estrella, my star of the night
Dont say the light not by your side
Never a star gazing its own light
Truly my eyes witness your starlight

Lanterns of millions for you holding around
Orion smiles could be the brightest one
But dont shy little star, dear estrellita
Can be small, different color of shine
Lovely as you, forever irreplaceable yours
So stay twinkling muse, blinking on us,

Twinkling light, O my Dazzling star,
With other charming shines around you
This sweet night, let moon be our shepherd
Bright in our hands, share loves in the dark,
Surrounding the moon, Ringing with the clouds
Lets paint the glittering light to reach each other hearts
Drawing constellations where we will see our life be bolder
And we shall break the long silence echoes in this chamber
Looking the masterpiece painting, on the sky, calm all travelers
True direction, north to south guidance that never astray forever
O the beauty in each of you, such incomparable my dear star
As you were born with love in the place you are supposed to
If we losing one of the clues, will change the meaning of view

Beauty and night perfection
Never gone, by the rise of morning light
Awaking sun not denying our love for night
This red star only to fulfill the mission given
To remind life born in different unique light vision
As you not an ordinary star, my dear companion

Has reach for us time we born and beauty
Dont you only envy the others shine only
Denying the sparks you have within
Pretending as if we are not exist
Will only fading light in this continent
Where nothingness hiding in the darkness
Allow the sound of emptiness haunting us

So shine my dear estrella, my shining star
Forever shine us with love in our eyes

Worlds Apart

I hold you in my arms, thats when it starts
I seek faith in you kiss, and comfort in your heart
I taste the seed upon your lips, lay my tongue upon your scars
But when I look into your eyes, we stand worlds apart
Where the distant oceans sing, and rise to the plain
In this dry and troubled country your beauty remains
Down from the mountain roads where the highway rolls to dark
neath allahs blessed rain, we remain worlds apart
Sometimes the truth just aint enough
Or its too much in times like this
Lets throw the truth away, well find it in this kiss
In your skin upon my skin, in the beating of our hearts
May the living let us in, before the dead tear us apart
Well let blood build a bridge, over mountains draped in stars
Ill meet you on the ridge, between these worlds apart
Weve got this moment now to live, then its all dust dust and dark
Let love give what it gives
Lets let love give what it gives

My Dark Dreams

I'm in the dark
And I'm lost
In my mind, screaming
Through the empty
Space, filled with no light
All I hear is my echo

I listen and hear the echo
Of silent breaking through the dark
Nothingness that consumes any light
That I don't see, in this lost
Place of empty
Dreaming, in which I scream

Soon as it stops, the screaming
High painful cry, and the echo
Fades, leaving me again in the empty
Hallow thoughts of my dark
Sleep, and wander through my mind lost
Of what I had, it was my light

What I had was like a warm light
That held me from the bitter screaming
Of the cold, it found me when I was lost
It covered me like a blanket, and echoed
Through my soul, with it I was never in the dark
And never left empty

Now, in my sleep, I am empty
The warm blanket of hte light
No longer holds me, but exposes me to the dark
And painful piercing screams
Of my own voice echoing
In my nightmares of what I've lost

I am lost
In the emptiness
Of my own pain, that echoes
Through me, and all I want again is the light
For it I scream
In my dreams, but all I get in the dark

I dream of the dark and I'm lost
My screaming is only heard by the empty
Space in my mind, where light shined, but there is only echo.

Sonnet 11

Which are the clouds, and which the mountains? See,
They mix and melt together! Yon blue hill
Looks fleeting as the vapors which distill
Their dews upon its summit, while the free
And far-off clouds, now solid, dark, and still,
An aspect wear of calm eternity.
Each seems the other, as our fancies will --
The cloud a mount, the mount a cloud, and we
Gaze doubtfully. So everywhere on earth,
This foothold where we stand with slipping feet,
The unsubstantial and substantial meet,
And we are fooled until made wise by Time.
Is not the obvious lesson something worth,
Lady? or have I wov'n an idle rhyme?
