Tsunami In Japan,2011
My daughter’s hand had slipped away!
My hand was empty in a trice;
Sea-water took her in a flash;
It happened all so suddenly!
There was no time to think or act;
The water toppled houses, roads;
Cars, ships and planes were found afloat;
Nothing could stop the sea invade!
I woke to find that I’m alive!
No more was my daughter with me;
Oh, what terrible tragedy!
Was living thus, worthy for me?
All land was under sea-water!
Most houses were mere planks of wood;
The muddy rubble filled the place;
Just corpses, carcasses met us.
Was it a dream of horror then?
No, it was all reality!
The sea ravaged the coastal land;
The city was erased from the map!
A Tsunami had struck Japan!
It was the worst over decades;
The toll of lives was rising high!
Did God forsake and abandon?
I had been saved by miracle;
The Tsunami came despite God?
Why Nature’s fury hit mankind?
Yes, none can tell and none will ev’r!
‘May all souls lost, rest in peace!
May the quake and Tsunami cease! ’

The Flood
The water flows to any place,
Flooding the land en way;
Submerging roads, bridges and fields,
Filling the wells and lakes;
It spares no one and humans too,
Neither the beasts nor trees;
Carrying the garbage and rubbish
And the entire sewage of state;
Whole villages have been cut off;
Many have been marooned;
Shelterless and starving in the cold;
Some clutch on to pieces of wood;
And stay alive for some more time,
Afraid to lose their hold;
There’s no water to even drink;
The people are all stark-naked;
And all they see is sea-water,
No food is in sight for many miles;
Oh, what havoc, the storm has wrought
On a state so poor!
So many fishermen are lost;
And many must have died;
Perched atop trees dangerously,
Birds too have not been spared;
They have lost their nests in trees;
And eggs and young ones as well;
The rain is pouring incessantly;
None can escape its brunt;
The state is cut into ‘islets’,
With corpses, carcasses afloat;
The air is filled by malodor;
The stench unfit to breathe;
Many human lives have lost in flood,
The place is diseases-prone;
Should nature be so unkind
To human beings on earth?
Help seems to come at a snail’s speed;
Thousands were swept alive;
No one knows the numbers lost;
A pall of gloom covers;
Will the flood-waters ever recede?
Will the sun dry up the land?
Lakhs of houses have been washed off;
God help the poor victims!

Japanese Tsunami,2011
The sea has turned angry again!
A strong quake hit the Japanese Isles;
The sea-water has gone over-land,
And caused enormous loss of lives!
Three lakhs have been rendered homeless;
Many had stayed upon the roads;
The cold made life so difficult!
The island has shifted eight feet!
The giant waves tossed ships, trains, cars;
Whole houses wrecked moved i n its wake;
Bridges and roads have been destroyed;
Some saved were standing on roof-tops!
Some families have been wiped out1
Death took many by great surprise;
Many are traumatised and ill;
A few minutes had made life hell!
Some nuke reactors developed blasts;
Many were buried in debris;
The shock is far too worse to bear;
None can console the victims’ hearts.
The landscape is all sea-watered;
The loss in yen is staggering;
Was it the work of devils all?
Was it a punishment from God?
The land has gone dark ever since;
Fires had broken out elsewhere;
Many have gone missing since then;
The island saw worst tragedy!
Must human beings turn divine?
Must people keep God’s Code stead-fast?
Does God remind man’s futile ways?
Is it a sign of end of world?
But why this heavy toll of lives?
And why is Nature furious?
A pall of gloom has clothed the land;
No words can tell the woes of men!
The world readies to help Japan;
The holocaust must open hearts;
When Nature strikes with brute a force,
Men turn lame ducks, unarmed but harmed!
Pray that the lost souls rest in peace!
May God provide the healing touch;
The world must save the Japanese Isles;
Let love of brethren change its fate!
Man cannot win against Nature!
Man needs God’s protection much more;
Man needs to pray to God a lot;
MAN SHAN’T FORGET THE NEED FOR GOD!

Trusting In Protective Modern Sea Walls
modern Japan trusting in God science
trusting in protective modern sea walls
but modern sea walls too low are built
built to height of smaller 1960 tsunami
walls failed to protect new coastal towns
in Japan's destructive recent huge tsunami
sweeping way communities once built right
to sea water's edge trusting in sea walls built
designed built after deadly small 1960 tsunami
ignoring hundreds of ancient tsunami markers
stone tsunami warnings hundreds dot coastline
'If an earthquake comes, beware of tsunamis'
modern Japan this time heed ancient wisdom
ancestors in earlier generations left warnings
'Octopus Grounds' are places sea life washed
up by tsunami gives warnings naming temples
after powerful tsunami waves gives warnings
stone markers warned of danger to coastal lives
'Always be prepared for unexpected tsunamis.
Choose life over your possessions and valuables.'
people trusting in protective modern sea walls
did not listen after earthquake people went back
to their homes to collect valuables all got caught
in choosing possessions riches lives were lost

The Hate That Destroys The World
when hate arrives with silent fury like a
tsunami,
so many lives are broken
so many houses are buried beneath
the muddy waters
have pity for the little girl
who was playing with her doll
when your gigantic waves
buried her alive,
that little boy was climbing the apple tree
to gather the ripe ones
mothers were frying bacon in the kitchen
as fathers went to work all day
in the ceramics factory
it was your hate that washed and buried them
all alive
and now
when you are at peace on
a subsiding fury
what do you have to see?
an island of debris
a long line of hungry people waiting for food and water
slippery roads
muddy feet
an open ground without shelter
lost dogs roaming the streets
an island that is warped in time in utter
distress
a sudden loneliness
the whole world watches
with horror and pity
inside you is another world full of guilt
what your hate has destroyed
you can never pay...

Earthquake
We just had long long shakes
Magnitude (only) 4, the tv said
But at the south they had it hard
As big as 8.4!
Earthquake stopped but I'm still shaking, aah! !
Alone, trying to remember what to do
If there is hate inside my heart
sure to be for that:
I HATE EARTHQUAKES! !
Relax! have to stop my shake?
I am ok, husband and daughter too
I have to stop my shake and pray
To think of others
For lives not to be lost
Please people of Japan!
Quick! To a safe place
In time to get
Away from the tsunami waves!
Tv says will be 6m high!
I am ok, still shake a bit, but pray
For ones who had it hard!
Please! All Gods of all worlds!
Take anything you want
Just don't let people die!
I wrote this minutes after the earthquake, trying to relax, (I am alway scared of earthquakes) when I cliked go, found out the internet was gone and so the phone, but so far this was the only trouble that we had.
..How could anybody guess what happened? So many people gone.. Why? ! ! We had tsunami warnings! !
Now, like the whole world, I watch results of pain and rivers of tears I let run but only when alone.. when people are around I smile and say: It's going to be ok..

Tsunami
I got some bad news from my granddaughter today
That one of her friends who had moved to JAPAN
With her family- “died in that tsunami.”
She was only ten years of age
And would always speak with my
Grand daughter on her face book page.
Now this young life has been taken away
And for her and all lives lost, we do pray.
First they had an earthquake - one of the
Strongest ever recorded at 9.0 on the scale
Which created the tsunami with over
thirty foot waves, sending possibly thousands
To an early watery grave.
it seems like with each disaster
There is a miracle after.
A four month old baby was found alive
They’re still trying to figure out
How it survived.
Then a seventy year old lady
Somehow came thru
How did she make it? What did she do?
They also found a man in a crushed
House eight days later.
Now you tell me - what can be greater!
they are finding many more alive
But in the process, so many have died.
So for these miracles that we now see
They Will go into the pages of history.
How many more signs must be shown
Before we open our eyes to what humanity
Is doing and to what god created.
Must everything we know become devastated.
So to my granddaughters friend JENNIFER VEGA
You have gone to meet our maker.
But as so many who have gone before
You’ll be there to open our door.
You’ll be there with a grin
Ready to welcome us in.
But why has mankind allowed us
To get to a point of no return
With so many screaming, and their
Voices can’t be heard.
I guess mankind will never learn
And in our hearts these tragedies
Will forever burn.

Send Down The Rain
The world is ending gradually on us,
But who can stop it from all the disasters around us?
There is fire here and there is war over there,
There is flood over here and there is Tsunami over there!
And people are being killed in many ways;
But who can stop the actions of nature?
This is like the secret code in 'Louis' Theory 6-5-6';
And we need to correct out history to move on in life!
But who will send down the rain to stop this fire?
Look at Japan and the situatons to the nuclear reactors! !
With fire-fighters pumping out enough water to cool down the overheated reactors;
But we need the heavy down pour from the heavens to help solve this matter,
For the land of Fukushima now looks like the end of the world.
Send down the rain!
For we need the rain to help stop these reactors from a major nuclear disaster! !
But the Tsunami came and the earth quaked,
With fire, snow and the burning of the forest and the oil refineries!
And of the many missing dead bodies not accounted for,
But who can stop the actions of nature?

Water
‘Water, water, everywhere;
Mostly unfit to drink;
Rivers, lakes get polluted;
Nobody seems to care! ’
‘Fresh-water is scarcely found;
Most mouths, much land remains so parched;
Much water seems to go awaste;
Whither our earth is bound? ’
‘The glaciers, ice-caps are melting;
Gone down are water-tables;
Fresh-water is sold in bottles;
To where are we earthlings heading? ’

Our Lady of Health, Vailangkanni!
O Queen of Heaven, Star of Sea!
Our dear Annai Vailangkanni!
So many met a grave, watery!
Could you not stall the Tsunami?
A lady with her infant child,
Who wore stars for crown on her head,
Had appeared in a divine way,
When sailors prayed for help, that day!
The Portuguese promised to build
A church for her if she would quell
The stormy sea, threatening to kill;
And take them safe to shore God-willed!
They knelt and prayed to her with tears:
‘Mother of Jesus, take our fears;
O Spare our lives for ones all dear! ’
The Queen of Health did promptly hear.
The sea became all quiet, calm;
The ship was protected from harm;
The sailors landed on the shore
Where stood ajar, a church’s door!
Our lady with infant Jesus
Had saved their lives from Satan’s curse;
Their hearts with gratitude afilled;
By miracle, the sea was stilled!
They built a bigger church for her;
And hoisted flag of dear Mother;
The church wrought miracles with time,
As people flocked to her all clime.
O Queen of Heaven, Star of Sea!
Our dear Annai Vailangkanni!
How many died so easily!
Could you not stall the Tsunami?
Perhaps, if they had prayed to her,
She would have saved their lives, mother;
Yet, those inside the Church escaped,
As sea-water did not enter!
While many those around saw death,
Caught by the swirling killer waves,
With death and destruction galore,
The church was spared by miracle!
Pray for us, O Mother Mary!
With tears we say the Rosary;
Our lives at times do turn scary;
Our cross in life, Help us carry!

Looking for Water
Still the leaves are spinning 'round
Take my hand as we go down, and down, and down
Looking for water
Well, our light's gone in a New York minute
Don't know about you, but my heart's not in it
(Looking, looking, looking)
I'm looking for water
I'm looking for water
(Looking, looking, looking)
I can't breathe the air, can't raise a fact
'Cause all we've got left is a beat in the night, and I'm
(Looking for water)
Looking for water
(Looking for water)
(Looking, looking)
Take my hand as we go down, and down
Leave it all behind, nothing could be found
(I'm, looking for water)
I'm looking for water
(Looking for water)
(Looking, looking)
(I, looking for water)
Looking everywhere
(Looking for water)
Looking here and there
(I'm looking for water)
I'm looking for water
(Looking for water)
(Looking, looking)
I can't live in this cage, I can't eat this candy
The edge of the earth to the spin in my head
The look in your eyes and never means never
The dawn's early light, baby, dark is forever
(Looking, looking)
(Looking, looking)
(Looking for water)
(Looking, looking)
I
(Looking for water)
(Looking for water)
(Looking, looking)
I
(Looking for water)
(Looking for water)
(Looking, looking)
I
(Looking for water)
(Looking for watter)
Looking, looking)
I
(Looking for water)
(Looking for watter)
Looking, looking)
I
(Looking for water)
(Looking for watter)

My Childhood Reminiscences
My younger brother holds my hand;
We stand upon the edge of land;
We stand amidst the coastal rock,
And I am young; wearing a frock!
Our buddy Dog is with us too;
He sits so well like me and you;
We three are watching th’ mighty sea –
Awesome expanse of water free!
The waves are small and move freely;
Some giant ones too come, may be;
The sea appears so calm truly –
Cynosure of tranquility!
But life has not been thus always;
My brother has now changed his ways;
The dog had spent its earthly days;
‘Time, tide awaits no one’, - th’ adage says!
My life today is not happy;
Some things happen like Tsunami;
We can reset some things, may be;
But life can be at times stormy!
Our childhood days will not return;
Sometimes in dreams, we always yearn;
Wisdom in earthly life, we learn;
Some day, we all must become urn!
Yet, there’s no use in feeling sad;
The world can sometimes make us mad;
Excess of emotions is bad;
Let’s live life being always glad!
To die is earthling’s destiny;
Why fret and fume in mutiny?
Avoid in life ignominy;
Like sea-shore sands, man seems tiny!

Sonnet: The Old Year
The old year passed off smoothly after all;
God blessed most nations rather profusely;
To many souls, God gave His clarion call;
He chose new leaders who would work truly!
God brought the rains on time and helped us farm;
He gave the sun to help harvest the crops;
He saved us from accidents and great harm;
He blessed the land like early morn dew-drops!
The year rolled off quite calmly from the start;
Most people heaved sighs of greater relief;
God’s mercy flowed in excess from His heart;
Let’s thank the Lord for strengthening our belief!
The Tsunami’s havoc has been undone;
Let peace prevail on earth without a gun.

Oh, Stop the Wars, Man!
Oh, stop the wars, Man
Let peace prevail again;
Wars bring more death
And destruction, not peace;
Christmas is near-
The birthday of Jesus;
He brings both joy
And peace to good-willed men!
Oh, stop the wars, Man!
For, they are meaningless;
No nation should
Invade the other;
The blood of innocent lives lost
Cries out to God for revenge;
Violence begets
Violence always.
Oh, stop the wars, Man!
And stop the mad killings;
The air and soil
And water get polluted;
What colossal wastes
Of lives, money and materials!
Do leaders know
That wars boomerang?
Oh, stop the wars, Man!
Let nations live in peace;
Nature’s furies,
We must always face.
Use the money
To build the earth,
And help the poor.
Only then, God will bless
Your own country!

Did you know that the word ""tsunami,"" which is now being used worldwide, is a Japanese word? This is indicative of the extent to which Japan has been subject to frequent tsunami disasters in the past.

One Stone Marker Of Ancient Legend
in the coastal city of Kesennuma
one stone marker of ancient legend
warned of tsunami danger fables
'Always be prepared for unexpected tsunamis.
Choose life over your possessions and valuables.'
generations believe not unseen with own eyes
Tetsuko Takahashi seventy safe in her family
hillside house watched from her front
window fate of neighbours who had ignored
carved in stone tsunami wave warnings
Tetsuko Takahashi saw a ship swept
like a lost toy a half-mile helpless inland
crushing in path buildings family homes
her family lived in Kesennuma for generations
devastation now seen her legend eyes record
those people that experienced previous most

Hurricane Katrina 2005
Wind and water, sand mixed mud;
Blowing over New Orleans;
Bringing rain from bursting clouds;
Flooding States like ne’er before!
Peeling roofs and tearing roads;
Bringing bridges down by force;
Slamming cars and flooding streets;
Katrina’s the worst storm seen!
Breaking levees, ‘laking’ lands;
Houses submerged by the scores;
Washing corpses, known, unknown;
Rescue-teams can hardly cope!
People had no power, food;
Nor could leave to safer zones;
Caught ’midst swirling currents fast,
Some perished like ‘paper-boats’!
Water, water everywhere;
Unfit for quenching one’s thirst;
The living wish they were too dead;
‘Help is coming- God knows when’!
The swollen rivers flooded towns;
Razing buildings down with ease;
Neighborhoods vanished near shores;
What a ruthless Nature’s show!
A million have been affected;
Homes are flattened, bricks all strewn;
Pleas for help are unheard still;
The world remains deaf, blind and mute!

Fight Back, “The Land Of The Rising Sun”
A combined attack of a major earthquake and tsunami – for any other country it would have been a major blow
But the country in question is Japan, which is known for not letting any disaster make its morale low.
“The Land Of The Rising Sun”, Japan managed to stand up from the shambles of Hiroshima bombing
It is a strong-willed nation, for which fighting back a disaster with grit is not a new thing.
History bears the proof of the determination and courage that the Japanese community personifies
And there is hardly any doubt that the great country will overcome the present disaster with aplomb and ease.
The entire world’s sympathy, love and wishes are with you - our beloved Japanese friends, brothers and sisters
Fight back with your natural courage, by displaying for the umpteenth time the indomitable spirit of the Japanese mass.
Your ancestors faced Hiroshima bombing, and constructed a new Japan from the rubble of that devastation
Repeat that valour of your ancestors, and prove once again the resilience and buoyancy of your great nation.
(I wrote this poem on 14th March 2011 following the devastating Tsunami and earthquake in Japan that shook the world) .
Land Of The Living
i found myself
in another world
i found myself
alive and well
i am the vapor
i am the gas
you be the angel
of everything
this is the land of the living
this is the land of reprisal
this is the land of the living
the living
the living
i lost myself
too wide a plane
i opened up
i'm not the same
i am electric
made of wire
you be the match
i'll be the fire
this is the land of the living
this is the land of reprisal
this is the land of the living
the living
the living
the living
in myself i try for you
walk a thousand miles to get us through
airways
jet planes
safe landings
no branding
land
land
this is the land of the living
the land of reprisal
this is the land of the living
the land of survival
survival
land
land
this is the land of the living
the living
the living
the living
