To Jyothi Basu – A Loving Tribute: The ‘Lamp’ is dead: Its light will always stay!
The ‘Lamp’ that lit the homes of myriad souls,
Who toiled, tilled, slogged as Indians proud, galore,
And stayed as guiding light achieving goals,
Has lost its oil and wick, and burns no more!
It stood as beacon for numerous souls,
Who flocked to him for wisdom that they sought,
And always got much more than they had thought;
The Lamp is gone but light it shone will stay!
The doyen worked his way uphill in life;
He stood beside all workers in their strife;
He was a perfect man, so rarely found,
He could have become mountain but stayed mound!
‘Hats off’ to leaders great who simple stay,
And lead unselfishly for others, way;
Who hold on party-men a trance-like sway,
Who lived for good principles every day!
The Lamp had burned for others sake for long;
Its light remains in hearts of myriad souls;
His glorious work will stay alive by song;
The man of mettle, heart of steel hadn’t holes!
No wonder, leaders praise him all sky-high!
His honest national service cannot die;
He left too big a void to be filled nigh;
His love for India is too great to vie!
‘God grant his soul eternal rest’, we pray!
May others follow his footsteps and way;
‘His example was golden’, people say;
He shines in hearts of many souls each day!
The ‘lamp’ is dead: Its light will always stay!
Dedicated in loving memory of the demised soul!

The Sea and Me
Light a lamp inside my home
so I may feel welcome from whence I roam.
For I have been gone for much too long.
I yearn to hear your sad sweet song.
The light of the lamp will say to me
that I have been missed too much by thee.
Such is the life of a man of the sea,
torn between work and his family.
I've missed the smell of food just cooked
and the taste of it and how it looked.
The time I've lost with you by my side
brings me all the tears I must hide.
The sea is my home away from you.
It's what I love. It's what I do.
But when I return from ventures on high
I know where my heart also does lie,
Between the sea and you, whom I love,
beneath the stars and the sky above.
Be patient my wife and pray for me
and keep the lamp lit so I may see
the warmth of the lamp that fills my heart
and keep it lit when I depart.
For the sea is calling and I must go
out where the waves and the wind doth blow.
Such is the life of this family of mine
as I sail the sea and they do pine.
God, grant them peace. Let the lamp stay lit.
For this life I love I cannot quit.

All Souls’ Day
The many ones I knew are hardly seen;
My friends, relatives are in scarce numbers;
Their memories are truly evergreen;
But death has put those souls in deep slumbers!
Most near and dear and loved ones are all gone;
This world looks empty but their graves abound;
They couldn’t be saints but sinned even alone;
Their cemeteries with time are hardly found!
Yet, most had left with venial sins galore;
In Purgatory, God cleanses souls by grace;
They need our prayers to be freed much more;
Like gold refined, souls enter Heaven’s haze!
But fiery love of God can change their roles;
The ones in mortal sins are nearer hell;
God’s mystic mercy could redeem such souls;
The living souls on earth can make them well!
All Souls’ Day comes once in a year for all;
Let’s empty Purgatory by praying hard;
Let’s fast to hasten Almighty God’s call;
Recite the rosary to stay on guard!
God, send your angels soon to fetch all souls;
Their sufferings are much more than on earth;
Let light perpetual shine upon dead souls;
Take them to Your Abode and grant them mirth!
Show mercy Lord, on every soul, we pray!
Let light divine annul the hellish spray;
Forgive them, Jesus Christ, we beg to say;
Ignore their trespasses on Judgment Day!

On All Souls Day, 2011
People throng the cemeteries
On ‘All Souls Day’,
Remembering their beloved ones,
Respects to pay!
All flower-decked and candle-lit,
Cemeteries stay;
Most relatives hear Requiem Mass,
Kneel down to pray!
They sing those famous songs of love
For near and dear;
Their emotions are stirred again,
Eyes filled with tear.
The separations are relived,
They burn incense;
Some weeks or years had rolled off fast,
Death stole souls since.
The agony to some was great,
With kith, kin lost;
They plead to God to show mercy
At any cost!
They call upon the saints that died
To intervene;
They cannot forget how they cried
With thoughts ev’rgreen!
The beggars line up to get alms,
And charity;
Most people dole out cash and kind,
Full of pity.
The prayers, masses, good deeds touch
The Most High’s heart;
When God’s love falls as rain-showers,
Then people part!
‘God, empty Purgatory, ’ they plead;
‘With light divine! ’
May faithful all departed rest! ’
From tracts, they read.

All Soul’s Day
God, many are the souls that left the earth;
Lord, many were in sin while departing;
The cleansing of souls takes in Purgatory;
Have mercy God and take them to heaven!
Man is not perfect anytime since birth;
Sinfulness fills his heart and mind till death;
Always a prey to Satan’s ploys, he stays;
The purity of soul is something rare.
Show mercy on our brethren God, we pray;
They lived a life of struggles upon earth;
Let Requiem masses celebrated bring
Release of more souls earlier than due dates!
Let Light eternal shine upon those souls
Whose threads of life were severed by rude death;
Let hymns of pleas on behalf of faithful
Open the gate of heaven to them soon!
Let world remember ‘All Souls Day’ and pray
For deliverance of the faithful dead;
Let acts of alms-giving and good deeds too
Kindle the heart of God to set them free!

Lava Lamp
In the half light of the evening
I could almost see you glow, I can tell by the way you're moving,
Time may be right to let you know,
you've got a many coloured halo, the body of venus
a babe rainbow and if I come on any closer, I might fall into your silhouette
but the shape of things to come is constantly changing
so let it, so let it, so let it flow
lava lava lava lamp, lava lava lava lamp
indigo, violet and blue, can we meet where the edge is blur cause I am comin' atcha, like a bug eye heading for the burn
the truth is I can't stay away, no I wanna let you light my volcano
and maybe it's just my imagination, but you never know
because the shape of things to come is constantly changing
so let it, so let it, so let it flow
lava lava lava lamp, I'd love to turn you on
lava lava lava lamp, I'd love to turn you on
lava lava lava lamp, I'd love to turn you on
lava lava lava lamp, I'd love to turn you on
so let it, so let it, so let it ...
lava lava lava lamp, I'd love to turn you on
lava lava lava lamp, I'd love to turn you on
lava lava lava lamp, I'd love to turn you on
lava lava lava lamp, I'd love to turn you on

Thy Word
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
When I feel afraid,
And think Ive lost my way.
Still, youre there right beside me.
Nothing will I fear
As long as you are near;
Please be near me to the end.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
I will not forget
Your love for me and yet,
My heart forever is wandering.
Jesus by my guide,
And hold me to your side,
And I will love you to the end.
Nothing will I fear
As long as you are near;
Please be near me to the end.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
And a light unto my path.
Youre the light unto my path.

The Lamp of Poor Souls
[In many English churches before the Reformation there was kept a little lamp continually burning, called the Lamp of Poor Souls. People were reminded thereby to pray for the souls of those dead whose kinsfolk were too poor to pay for prayers and masses.]
Above my head the shields are stained with rust,
The wind has taken his spoil, the moth his part;
Dust of dead men beneath my knees, and dust,
Lord, in my heart.
Lay Thou the hand of faith upon my fears;
The priest has prayed, the silver bell has rung,
But not for him. O unforgotten tears,
He was so young!
Shine, little lamp, nor let thy light grow dim.
Into what vast, dread dreams, what lonely lands,
Into what griefs hath death delivered him,
Far from my hands?
Cradled is he, with half his prayers forgot.
I cannot learn the level way he goes.
He whom the harvest hath remembered not
Sleeps with the rose.
Shine, little lamp, fed with sweet oil of prayers.
Shine, little lamp, as God's own eyes may shine,
When He treads softly down His starry stairs
And whispers, "Thou art Mine."
Shine, little lamp, for love hath fed thy gleam.
Sleep, little soul, by God's own hands set free.
Cling to His arms and sleep, and sleeping, dream,
And dreaming, look for me.

Globe in Chaos (A Kyrielle)
The righteous stay in immense gloom;
More evil minds are seen to bloom!
The modern world has gone more gay;
Usher a new earth, God, I pray.
More heinous crimes reach ears and eyes;
The innocent, victims of vice;
More souls from God have gone astray;
Usher a new earth, God, I pray.
The kinds of sins have grown galore;
The shame is less though hearts are sore;
More devils roam the world each day;
Usher a new earth, God, I pray.
A world of lucre has surfaced;
The young and old keep all amazed;
Yet, God is not their Light and way;
Usher a new earth, God, I pray.
More gadgets rule most fields these days;
More people walk with masked a face;
For sins, all men must surely pay;
Usher a new earth, God, I pray.
Ethics and morals seem all dead;
More children stay abused, misled;
God’s codes are broken every day;
Usher a new earth, God, I pray.

A Tribute to a Man of God- Bro. Dr. DGS Dhinakaran
A man who went to commit suicide,
Was picked by God to save sinners from hell,
Miraculously until ripe-old age;
God took him to His bosom after this.
The man of God had read the Bible well;
He prayed to God with fervor all his life,
Until the Holy Spirit entered him,
And changed his life of poverty and strife.
The man of God became Evangelist;
He quoted Scriptures to all suffering souls,
Explaining God’s message to all who thirst
For truth and Light and Way of Jesus Christ.
He talked to God and gained wisdom to guide
The many souls, who thronged to him for help;
God saw his love for fellowmen on earth,
And exalted his spiritual life.
The man of God had preached the Word of God
To human beings, right across the globe,
Performing miracles and healing sick,
Consoling all who begged of him to pray.
With time, he uttered prophecies as well;
He sowed the seeds of love and brotherhood;
He sang a lot of hymns right from his heart,
In praise of God and thanked Him for his lot.
Oh, what a holy life, it turned to be!
The Holy Spirit blessed his family;
He lamented to God for others’ sake;
Well-pleased, God took him to Elysium’s Lake!
The world had lost a fragrant flower great;
The void cannot be filled except by God;
The pot had served His Potter’s every wish;
He turned ‘Fisher of men and not of fish! ’
He’s gone to see his loving Angeline-
His only daughter who preceded him;
From heaven, he’ll direct his kith and kin,
In saving mankind from all grievous sin.
The noble soul is now in God’s Abode;
He’ll plead to God to shake the world of men;
The modern world has people with big sins;
He’ll tell the Maker what the righteous need.
The ways of God are glorious and strange;
He enters hearts of souls who welcome change;
The works of God are mighty in its range;
The man of God will bring His divine change.

Sonnet: God TV’s Tenth Birthday
A charismatic couple rings in souls;
Their aim to bring Jesus to homes turns true;
They deliver the Bible through ‘Sky-holes’!
A billion souls, Holy Spirit will woo.
Their dream divine is almost realized;
A global seed was sowed for Christ’s message;
Most human beings now look devilized;
God TV is a golden history page!
The Holy Scripture touches hearts anew;
The Word of God will do great miracles;
Minds, bodies, souls will heal in divine view;
Freed will be souls from devils’ tentacles.
This is God TV’s real, short story;
Glory to God and Wendy and Rory.

All Soul's Day
They throng the tombs of near and dear,
To pray for souls in Purgatory;
They offer masses, light candles,
And place flowers on cemetery.
They visit tombs of orphans, friends,
And hear Requiem masses this day;
They give alms, singing hymns for dead,
Pleading for God's mercy and pray.
No soul is sinless on dying;
The soul must be freed off all sins;
The venial sins forgotten need
To be dumped in Purgatory's bins!
We ought to pray for all the dead,
Our kith and kin and strangers too;
The dead cannot do more penance,
And earn the grace of God on own!
November is the month to pray
To God to grant eternal rest,
For all awaiting Judgment's Day,
And help them pass the final Test!
Let light perpetual shine on souls
In Purgatory, where they are cleansed;
Pardon them Lord and release them;
Permit them to enter Heaven!

Vigilant
To pluck more men from the fire, on this day, is my heart’s desire,
To lead men to the light of Truth, so they won’t see God’s reproof,
Not a small rebuke my friend, as eternal darkness will be their end,
In those eternal flames of wrath, should they stay the present path.
I know this day my Redeemer lives, while new life to men He gives,
To all who call on Jesus Christ, God shall give to them Eternal Life.
All who’ve been deceived by men, who by God, stand condemned,
Must be reached with salvation, that comes from God’s Revelation.
Holding forth the Word of God, to spare men from God’s iron Rod,
The judging rod of God’s own Son, to judge the heart of everyone,
According to His Word we herald, not to some, but to all the world,
For when Christ returns again, His Judgment shall fall upon all men.
We need to reach men’s hearts, before the soul from earth departs,
Reach all men for Christ our Lord, helping the stray, to be restored,
Back, to The Rock of all Ages, through the Holy Scripture’s pages,
Where we find the only True Light, to lead lost souls from the night.
By The Savior I have been sent, with the Gospel, and to be vigilant,
To reach souls, as time is short, and soon all souls, Christ will sort,
And all men in the Book of Life, will enter eternity with Jesus Christ,
But, souls of those missing names, will be cast into eternal flames.
Almighty’s Ways are Incredible
The ways of Almighty are strange,
And mysterious, miraculous;
No human mind can understand
The timing of the things, He does.
Yet, God has plans for all of us,
And executes them so deftly;
The world is surprised by God’s works,
And how He goes about His job.
God raises righteous persons to
High positions in earthly life,
That gives them contentment so great,
The world cannot but stay amazed!
God heals the wounds of hearts and minds,
Removing indelible scars;
God gives peace lasting for lifetime
To lives, who plead and pray to Him.
God arranges such mighty things
That man’s efforts cannot achieve;
God builds the homes of upright souls
On rock, and blesses them amply!
The man of wisdom trusts in God;
The foolish man believes in self;
Mere human strength will fail most times;
God’s grace is needed for success!
So, trust in God and ask of Him;
God is ever-ready to help;
His heart of love is eager to
Listen to pleas of frantic souls!

Thirty Days Later…
Full thirty days have rolled off silently,
Since mother died and left this world for good;
A star upon the earth, ‘STELLA’ had lived,
And did far better things that she ev’r could!
Our home looks empty without mom and dad!
The separation is too much to bear;
Nevertheless, we feel quite happy, glad:
Our parents both are gone to be with God!
Our mom has gone to sleep and rest awhile;
And she will rise when Jesus comes again;
The Lord will take her to Heaven, His home,
Where bliss prevails eternally for souls.
May mother’s soul peacefully rest for now;
And let perpetual light shine upon her;
‘Stella’, the star is heaven-bound for sure;
Let’s pray for God’s mercy on Final Day!
Dedicated by her children, grand-children and relatives
In loving memory of a most beloved soul,

On the Deaths of Thomas Carlyle and George Eliot: Sonnets
TWO SOULS diverse out of our human sight
Pass, followed one with love and each with wonder:
The stormy sophist with his mouth of thunder,
Clothed with loud words and mantled in the might
Of darkness and magnificence of night;
And one whose eye could smite the night in sunder,
Searching if light or no light were thereunder,
And found in love of loving-kindness light.
Duty divine and Thought with eyes of fire
Still following Righteousness with deep desire
Shone sole and stern before her and above,
Sure stars and sole to steer by; but more sweet
Shone lower the loveliest lamp for earthly feet,
The light of little children, and their love.

Fire Keepers
Keep the fire burning
That's been kindled in you soul
For the fire burns the dross away
And brings forth precious gold
Shine the light the fire brings
To the darkness in the land
For the Light is the Light of the world
And the darkness flees at His command
Keep the fire of praise ablaze
To combat life's malaise
For the Lord's fire is in Zion
An Inhabiter of our praise
Take your lamp where the fire burns
Bring oil most precious and true
For the oil causes the lamp to burn
All the dark night through
Seek the Giver of unchanging fire
From Whom all blessings flow
For you know not what the day may hold
And tomorrow is not your own.

Sonnet: God Is Our Master And Guide
The work of God is strange in its outcome;
He knows the needs of every soul He made;
He hears our calls though He may look so dumb;
And guides all hearts to do the things He bade.
However much a man may slog in life,
Things cannot happen without God’s consent;
He tests each heart and soul with joys and strife;
The good on earth we do is Heaven’s rent.
God’s chosen souls can’t ever from Him veer,
From righteousness, if God wants them all near;
He knows the hearts even before we think;
He knows the song even before the ink.
All souls to God must finally comply;
Queries of God, We must someday reply.

0093The Soul's Wedding Chamber
Night falls, so gently, from the darkening sky,
soft calling us to leave all that the day
has shone upon; from universal light
to turn to homely private lamp, and seek
what evening's quiet brings our close-knit souls.
Then, love, as midnight calls us to our rest,
lay down the things of day, and mount the stair
to that so private chamber where our love
may seek the oneness in our otherness,
enjoy distinction in our single sight;
put out the light, lay down the he and she
to seek the god and goddess of sweet night.
Thus is the soul to God, and God to soul;
in loving dark unknowing, love known whole.

R.I.P. Dear Dad
It was this day, my father died,
A score and three years back;
One early morn, while he lay ill,
And children were around.
He had double pneumonia:
With diabetes too;
We could not do much about it,
With three children, doctors.
The sudden death anguished us all,
But he was pretty old;
The way he reared us still remains
A puzzle unraveled!
From humble beginnings, he rose
To be a learned man;
He taught and spoke in unmatched style
That put the world dumbfound!
A man of principles so good,
You hardly can find one;
God was his friend, despite all strife;
He kept his simple ways!
The love and care he showed were great;
He was so erudite;
His piety lit up his face
In everything he did!
Oh, what a father great, we lost -
A void that none could fill;
His life and work evergreen stays
In hearts of all children.
Our home is dark without this light,
Which is a star in sky;
He goads us all to follow him,
And reach celestial heights!
O God, we plead and cry and pray,
‘May his soul rest in peace';
He earned his heaven, while on earth,
A righteous soul did cease!

Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity
Is India Still Secular?
A nun was gang-raped in public;
A priest was beaten black and blue!
Half-naked, both were paraded;
While police-men stood near-by mute!
They burnt houses of Christians!
They torched the churches and killed some;
They reconverted quite a few;
‘Christians have no place in own land! ’
This was how Kandhamal returned
the love and charity of both;
They suffered for the sake of Christ!
Shame on a nation with such crimes!
Religions have sense of values;
But fanatics don’t have any;
Are not the Christians Indians too;
Why blame them for a Hindu’s death?
‘A little pencil in God’s hand’, -
in words of Mother Teresa –
are missionary sisters who serve
serve the poorest poor for Christ’s sake!
They see Christ in the poor they meet;
Like pencils they serve till worn out;
In white sarees with blue-border,
Their Foundress was Mother Teresa;
They offer smiles to distressed souls;
They caress people abandoned;
They console hearts filled with chaos;
The unwanted are made happy.
But Jesus touches any heart!
He turned Saul to Apostle Paul!
God’s-calling, no one can refuse;
All souls surrender to His love.
The ways of God are strange and queer!
God chooses anyone He wants;
He will not neglect souls that pray;
God’s rod is weapon powerful-most!
The country where Teresa slogged,
And won the Noble Prize for Peace
Has sadly ignored her sisters,
Who suffer ignominy much.
No one knows what one will become!
Religion is a transient thing –
The outer garb for every soul,
That must be pure to Heaven reach.
Why crush the flowers meant for God?
No man can win against God’s power;
Why ruin lives who serve the Lord?
God’s curse and wrath awaits such souls!
A priest or nun has made a vow –
His body, mind belongs to God;
He lives his life just for God’s sake;
His soul will surely reach heaven.
To be a Christian is God’s will!
A Christian is proud to be one;
He’ll give his life for Jesus’ sake;
His love for God, no one can steal!
