Tis Thanks - Giving Time
With just two years for Diamond jubilee,
We Stanleyans meet once again this year;
Eight years had passed since Golden jubilee,
Our batch-mates join with kith and kin and dear!
We thank God first for His immense kindness,
He blessed our lives in much strange ways so far;
We thank Him for His enormous fondness
for us, all doctors without any bar!
Our life on earth was great enough, we think;
We had our days of woes and quarrels, mirth;
Life gave us experiences fit to ink;
We thank our parents for this useful birth!
We thank our teachers who moulded our clay
to take on challenges in life always;
We thank our friends for love we couldn’t repay,
and neighbours who helped us to spend our days!
Our life on earth was worth living life-time!
We thank the stars for giving us the chance;
Our labour paid off well and made us prime;
We still can work and pray and sing and dance!
Our hearts go out to those unfortunate,
Who could not see the light of world, unborn!
We thank our patients who with pleasure wait
to seek our consultation from each morn!
Their gladness knew no bounds when we could heal;
Our hearts were very sad when we could not;
Nevertheless, it was life’s game and deal;
We can’t describe the satisfaction got!
We thank the Maker who healed all the sick;
Our roles were small when lives returned, though gone;
We were just candle-wax; God was lit-wick!
We had to melt to light the world, though dawn!
We thank our students who became our peers;
We thank our nation for giving us fame;
We thank our college for making us seers;
We thank all souls who helped attain our aim!
We thank the day for affording this meet;
Our joy is great to speak to batch-mates old;
With evergreen memories and love, we greet!
Our achievements were far better than gold!
We are not scared of death and have no fear
as life was fine, and eyes have become dim!
We know our day to leave this earth is near,
for Maker calls us mortals to meet Him!

Evergreen Memoirs: ‘I Batch, Silver Jubilee Meet’
Those were the days of toil, turmoil;
Those were the years of learning joy;
Those were the times of challenges;
Those were moments, we can’t forget!
Those were the happiest days in life;
Those were the times of great resolve;
Those were the years we loved the most;
Those were the dreams that came so true!
Our Management was great from start;
Our teachers taught ‘medical art’;
Our college then looked not so vast;
Oh, how we miss the life that’s past!
And we were just a little batch!
We turned out to be ‘prized a catch’!
Our college life can’t come again;
Our teachers put us in right lane.
We did not have much capital;
We did not have own hospital;
We saw few patients in the ward;
Nevertheless, we worked just hard.
And God had blessed us for His part!
We smile and laugh with good a heart;
We love our teachers who taught us;
They shared their knowledge without fuss!
God, bless our Doctor Teachers dear!
’Tis nice to see them still, so near;
They sacrificed in nobler ways;
God grant them health and peaceful days!

IRT PMCians' Alumni Meet, Perundurai,24th March,2012
This day is one memorable
To all who made it to this meet;
We join colleagues to enable,
Enquiry, foster ties and greet.
We're here to see our old campus,
And talk to teachers, friends, so dear;
We're back to see the greenery,
And walk the lanes with joyful tear!
Our college days were good indeed,
But could have been a bit better;
Yet, we can't live always with greed:
Be content in spirit, letter!
Just when we thought our college days
Were blissful to our hearts and souls,
Time tolled the bell to part our ways,
To take new roads, attaining goals!
The life we led was glorious;
We know we cannot have it back;
Sometimes, we were too furious,
And put our hopes on Lady Luck.
Today, we've come with kith and kin
To boast about our college days;
It had its failures, mirth, woes, win,
That gave us each a smiling face.
We miss those days really much;
Those were most pleasurable and best;
Each moment had a magic touch,
That brought sheer joy to our small nest!
We thank our teachers and stalwarts;
We thank God for mercy showered;
We thank the many unsung hearts,
Who helped us bud, blossom, flowered!
Today, we are all well in health;
We look for brighter days ahead;
We also dream to earn more wealth,
But we must always keep our head!
True joy is when we give others;
Let's make this world a better place;
Let's care with love our sick brothers,
And glorify the human race!
God chose us do the healing stuff;
We are the luckiest of men;
Let's make our patients smile and laugh,
This world, a haven and heaven!

II ALUMNI MEET OF PMCians,2012 - A Gist
What seniors told their junior medicos:
The second Alumni meet at PMC
had drawn a sizable crowd of seniors;
Some came from ev'n abroad to take part in
the get-together arranged hurriedly.
They couldn't believe their eyes when they all met;
It was a dream come true for all of them;
It was the labour sheer of '06 batch;
Hats off to those who made the meet happen.
Thanks to the Dean, VP and medicos!
It was a pleasant meet with kith and kin;
It was all joy to meet colleagues that day;
It was a day of mixed emotions!
All shared some precious moments of their lives;
They owed their present status to teachers;
They were so proud of their Alma Mater;
They loved their college which made them doctors.
Recounting happy reminiscences,
The earliest students burnt the midnight oil;
It was worthwhile for they were settled now;
They shared truths of past mischief, valour, love!
Advising juniors, they just sang and danced;
They praised their life at PMC as ‘great'!
It was a family experience priceless;
It was something not found elsewhere till date!
It didn't matter if you sat in last bench;
It didn't matter if you faced enquires;
It didn't matter if you had failed sometimes;
To be a PMCian mattered much!
Success or failure lies in each one's hand;
Failures need not upset a medico;
‘A little ragging helped a lot in life'!
Hard-work and perseverance bore fruits sure.
Life was to live, enjoying each moment;
Life was to help and share with those in need;
Life was not pomp and show but facts thread-bare;
Life was not life where selfishness prevailed!
Today PMCians were doing fine!
They love the noble profession they chose;
Worrying can't solve all problems in one's life;
Each winter brings a spring verdure, lively!
Prepare for future well ahead in life;
Take life as it comes on to you in time;
The family-front is important as well;
The early labour will give later bliss!
Nothing like under-graduate friends in life!
Such friendship lasts a life-time and stays true;
The energy of youth remains so full;
One's college-life was etched in heart in gold!
Alumni Meets were good for young and old;
It helps to boost your sagging spirits up;
But some must do the spade-work for the joy;
PMCians were doing more than fine!
One's ambitions need not stay mediocre;
Will-pow'r helps climb peaks of glory and fame;
Lead earthly life as best as best can be;
Make others happy and get happiness!
Lovingly dedicated by the Dean Dr.A.Celestine Raj Manohar M.D.,

IRT School Of Nursing Alma Mater Song
Of School of Nursing, IRT,
We students are ready
To serve the sick and dying ones:
Patients who flock to us.
Today we all are poised to sing
And dance with joy and fly,
Like nightingales upon the tree
Of planet earth’s one life.
We are now trained quite pretty well,
Eager to serve the sick;
The time has come to toll the bell,
And burn life’s candle’s wick!
The years had passed off rather fast;
The life we spent was great;
We carry memories of past,
Ev’rgreen in mind’s, heart’s slate.
The campus green with foliage,
And birds of every kind;
And pea-fowls filled up our life’s page,
Snakes, scorpions we find.
The classrooms were both warm and cold;
Yet, teachers taught us well;
Their words were lettered in pure gold;
Our future work will tell.
Today, we take our steps outside
The campus that we loved;
With God and wisdom us beside,
We buds are well-flowered!
A noble cause, awaits us all –
To care for patients sick;
Glad that we heard Florence’s call,
We move ahead to prick!
We thank our nursing teachers who
Worked hard to change our fate;
We thank the doctors who shared too,
Their knowledge until date.
We thank our parents who stood by
Our problems in our life;
We thank the Maker, Almighty,
Who helped us face all strife.
A golden future awaits us!
There’s lots of work to do;
Life will award rewards and bliss;
We bid ‘Adieu’ to you.

Sonnet: To Dear Invinciblz on Teacher's Day
Just few months from now on, life sure will change;
Your learning as a medico may end;
Your doctor's training starts in newer range;
Your medical degree, you must defend!
So, put your theory learnt to practice soon;
Your patients serve to give you bed-side ken;
Time spent in library will turn your boon;
Remember, you're elite men and women!
Your professional knowledge must go sky-high!
Your labour shouldn't reduce in any way;
Awaits a world of competition, nigh;
Life's enjoyment ought to be kept at bay!
You aim for excellence in treating sick;
Experience is throughout life, a pick!

To a Teacher of Teachers (in Paediatrics)
I, your pupil know your worth;
I, a teacher know your girth;
I, a doctor know your birth
Gave doctor-teachers, mirth!
I, a colleague can world tell,
‘You had made your students swell;
You had taught indeed so well;
You had tolled the teaching-bell! ’
We, your students thank you Doc;
You were key to our world’s lock;
When we did your door ev’r knock,
You gave ken unmatched by clock!
You, a star in our life’s sky;
You were one no one could buy;
You had made our minds so high;
This is truth, whole truth, not lie!
You opened world of children;
You made Paediatrics, heaven;
You taught craft and art woven;
You now make us look even!
We thank you from depths of heart;
We are grateful for our start;
We know not the words to draft;
We hope you must never part!
“You were a doyen;
You were a giant;
You were so erudite
Teacher of Teachers! ”
May God grant you many years;
May God give you peace, not tears;
May God take away your fears;
May you live happy with dears!

Happy Diwali, 2011
I cannot wish with flowers,
For they belong to God;
I cannot wish with sweet foods,
For they are man-made all!
I cannot wish with rare gifts,
For they may not be apt;
I cannot wish with greetings,
For they are soon forgot!
I cannot wish with crackers,
For they make noise and smoke;
I cannot wish with clothes new,
For they can lose their charm!
But I can wish with words of love,
Those come straight from my heart;
Today, good won o’er evil;
Let’s share this truth by art!
Let light prevail o’er darkness,
And illumine this world;
Let love of human life spread,
And glorify the Lord!

Nostalgic Memories of Doctors
We met; we read and played in one college;
We were so lucky to be Stanleans!
Those were the pleasant days, we can’t forget;
The nostalgic memories are evergreen!
But that was more than four decades ago!
The 'flock that grazed the Stanley lawns' was big;
Today, the size has come down by a third;
Some wonderful souls have perished and gone.
The landscape seems so changed though earth remains;
Some trees are gone while others appear cut;
New ones are growing rather very fast!
The air is diff’rent but our thoughts are same.
We miss the ones who are not live today;
Some were stalwarts and doyens, teachers great;
Some sacrificed their lives for patients' sake,
While others taught their students to do feats.
To some life’s journey on earth is over;
To some, the road traveled nears to an end;
To some, their count-down seems to have begun;
Nevertheless, our life was something great.
Those days will never come back- we all know;
The thoughts of yester-years- we will cherish;
We live with hope renewed in years to come,
And do our duty until we vanish!
Today, our hearts have emotions mixed;
Anguish because some loved ones are no more;
And joy because many are living still,
And hope because some years more lie ahead.
This is the way our life on earth goes on;
We take new lanes but share a common aim;
Though some excelled the others in this race,
God knows how each one played the game of Life!
Today, the remnant members meet and pray,
'God give eternal rest to souls that left,
And some more useful years for those alive,
To serve the sick and dying, suff'ring, souls! '
We are the lucky survivors today!
Our past looks great; our future is more so;
We want to leave our footprints on Time's sands
-Indelible for progeny always!
We thank Thee Lord for all our happiness;
We thank Thee God for strength of heart and will;
We thank Thee Lord for blessings Thou didst give;
We thank Thee God for making us Doctors!

DR JOHN CELES as a Medical Teacher
A man came leaving his home-town, city,
In search of a good medical college,
To teach the poor students with piety,
While sacrificing his dreams and prestige!
He was a doctor and a teacher too;
He loved being a medical teacher;
He spent his life in teaching me and you,
His poetry was his special feature!
He loved his profession of healing, much;
He taught by heart and left never a doubt;
He liked the nurses with their tender touch;
He made each medico to bud and sprout!
The physician became the dean as well;
The place improved under his able care;
He tolls the ‘sincerity-and-truth bell'!
The art of healing was no more a scare!
He showed the world that conscience is prime;
Obedience and discipline are good;
Ethics and laws will find their place with time;
God helps the doctor heal as if He would!

Happy New Year, ’10
Sing a song with youthful joy;
New Year marches gallantly;
Bring the cheer of great rejoice;
Welcome it undauntedly!
Ring out old and ring in new;
Forget all the past years’ woes;
String the kite and fly it high;
This is how life on earth goes!
Dance a tune most gracefully;
Rhythms enchant minds and hearts;
Drink a peg to health of all;
Let the spirit do more feats.
Smile and laugh until you cry;
This day comes once annually;
Kiss those dear and embrace ones,
Who matter most in life earthly!
Speak words consoling others;
Talk to neighbors and brothers;
Let us be happy today;
A New Year comes once in a way!

Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa)
Not all on earth can get awards;
Not all deserving, get applause;
Not all afford to get rewards;
Few get honoured for great a cause!
But when a doctor gets honour,
For life-time work, a noble cause,
The fraternity thank donor,
For choosing him/her as the boss!
The joy of getting rare awards
May not long last in noble hearts;
But will be theme for mighty bards
To sing in praise of God and arts!
Great minds and hearts can never pause
To serve mankind in need, always!
No prize is worth a worthy cause;
A doctor’s service priceless, stays.

Admiration: On Your Retirement
The road appears to end for now,
But it is not the end of life;
’Tis time to think of resting more,
Avoiding travail and life’s strife.
The honest work that you had done,
Will stay in letters of gold etched,
Showing the world and even stun,
Keeping the young and old, bewitched!
Your labour done will get reward
From Almighty, the Master- God;
And when the time comes, you’ll be starred,
In heavenly skies, by the Lord.

Lamp-lighting By Nurses
By lamps, you light although daylight,
You light the world of darkened lives
Of ailing patients and dying,
Giving them hope of life quite bright!
The lamps you hold by hand today
Affirm your wish to toil always,
Relieving pain and sufferings
Of sick, diseased brethren all day!
Like ‘Lady with the lamp’ you show
Your heart has love and compassion
For mankind sick and afflicted;
To God, the Healer, you thus bow!
The lamps will show the world around
That nurses are a noble lot
Who sacrifice their lives and time
To make everybody’s health sound!
May nurses fill the world with cheer!
Like Nightingale, serve sick always;
Your work is more than gold, aye, dear!
Be bold but kind to human race!

To Mother Dear on Mother’s Day 2010
We miss you mother dear, it’s true!
You were alive just days ago;
You vanished like the morning dew;
You’re gone to be with God, we know!
The love and care, you gave us, mom,
We know we can never repay;
Your lullabies in ears still hum;
We wish we could meet you some day!
From dawn till dusk, you slogged for us;
Oh, what a fine mother, you’ve been!
You walked more than going by bus;
You showed us how to avoid sin.
Oh, mother dear! Oh, mother dear!
You were a star upon this earth;
You seem afar and yet so near;
We thank you God for mother’s birth!
By death, you are just gone awhile;
We’ll pray for you the rest of life;
You successfully ran your mile,
As God helped you confront all strife.
We pray, your soul must rest in peace;
May Blessed Virgin bless you dear;
We hope our painful days soon cease,
May God take off our ever fear!

Teacher’s Day,2011 in India
Remember all your teachers who taught you
in school and college, right from childhood days;
Revere your teachers in all things you do;
Pray God should keep them happy most, always!
They put their heart and soul to train us up;
They helped us drink ken with ease from life’s cup!
Remind yourself the toil that teachers gave;
If not for them, would we now well behave?
Recapitulate good things that teachers did;
Recollect moments ashamed, when you hid;
Realize the role each one of them well played;
Recognize their mettle, prowess, love, aid!
Recount their help they offered you in need;
Reflect on advice good, they tried to seed;
Refill your heart and mind with joy, O man!
Repay their kindness to them if you can.
What noble sacrifices teachers made!
Efforts to train us, students, will not fade;
Despite their hard-work, life gave them raw deal;
Our teachers made us wholesome and thus feel!
Dedicated to all my beloved teachers
who made me what I am, today!

Teacher’s Day in India
Teacher’s Day in India is today-
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birthday;
A great educationist, Indian;
A former President of our nation;
A teacher par excellence;
An exemplary role-model to all.
Let’s celebrate this day
In a special way,
By remembering our teachers,
Who’d taught us all these years.
A teacher is a tutor;
A teacher is a scholar;
A teacher is a special friend;
A guide and philosopher
In students’ lives- a Godsend!
Our teachers are great minds;
Our teachers are rare finds;
Their love and precept binds
As students’ life-years winds!
God bless our teachers (dears):
God give them healthy years;
God meet their wants sans fears,
And make them mighty seers.
Like parents, he/she rears;
God rank them as great peers;
But keep them free from tears,
When their life’s end nears.
Dedicated most respectfully to
all our beloved teachers

Obituary of a Renowned Indian Surgeon
A noble soul has passed away from earth!
He touched the hearts of thousands since his birth;
He sowed the seeds of sympathy and love,
Akin to that, that flows from God above!
His life was one of devotion to work;
He lit the lives of those living in dark;
He brought back joy to some who had lost it;
He made their bodies unhealthy, most fit!
He served his God by serving his brethren;
He made the world around him like heaven;
He left his glory upon earth for now;
His glory waits in God’s city above!
Such souls are rare who live for others’ sake;
Such creatures come from Maker’s special make;
Such lives have made this world like paradise;
Their lives will stay forever like sunrise!
This surgeon’s knife now rests in others’ hands!
His fame and name has spread to many lands;
His trail was etched on exemplary sands;
He’s gone to join the Maker’s choicest bands!
His noble life will pave the way for more;
He chose to enter God-sent newer door;
His love for human beings formed life’s core;
His example was one unseen before!
Such flowers blossom rarely once a while,
Perfuming air that spreads beyond the mile;
Their beauty has to wither but in style,
Remaining on the pages of God’s file!
‘May his soul rest in peace, till time shall some day cease! ’

‘Your life to save lives’, you gave today;
May you on earth happily stay!
All thank you for your sacrifice;

Of mind, body, spirit, soul-wise.
You gave your time for others’ sake;
God will never you ev’r forsake;
You can eat and keep Life’s cake
That’s a medical profession’s make!
Love your work with all your heart;

Lo, This is Earthly Life!
A medico girl, young she was;
A brilliant Madurai lass;
While coming to her afternoon class,
She DIED by the road-side, alas!
A van had hit her directly;
She met her death most instantly;
With clavicle and fractured skull,
She was injured occipital;
And in the shatt’ring glass’ sounds,
She bled like hell and died at once!
She’as rushed to our hospital, altho’
She passed away in minutes, oh!
In a pool of blood, her head just lay;
To save her life, there was no way.
Doctors and students, rushed to see
Her corpse but stood just silently;
Fate had been so cruel to snatch
A life in teens from her dear batch!
Oh, what a shock, her batch-mates had!
The tragedy was indeed sad;
It was an accident! Alright,
At noon-time and in bright sunlight:
But had she escaped, she’d have been
A doctor with an extra sheen.
Yet, God didn’t give her one more chance
Or save her from Death’s noon-time dance!
A victim of a fatal game,
V. Dhanalakshmi was her name.
The silence was soon broken by
The laments of students near-by;
‘Dhana, we love you! ’- They all cried;
But in a trice, the girl had died.
‘Dana, don’t leave us! ’ they all wept;
But in the Lord, she happily slept.
They cried and cried till mid-night came;
They screamed all stunned- who was to blame?
Her class-mates sat round her weeping,
Until her parents came, leaping;
Too shocked for words, they looked like ghosts!
And cried aloud: all stood like posts.
All night, all wept, again, again;
All hearts were anguished and in pain;
‘Dhana’- she lay under a shroud;
I heard their cries all clear and loud.
And in the night, I heard one noise;
The birds all spoke in one strange voice-
‘DHANA, we love you, we love you.’
‘DHANA, we miss you, we’ll miss you.
And this is what the earth can give;
With life for life’s cause, let’s all live.

My Eightieth Birthday, Today!
Eighty years have gone away,
In a somewhat pleasant way;
God is Master, then, today,
And will be mine, come what may!
As a teacher, life was good;
Life was great in womanhood!
Life was best when in childhood;
Happy I'm, upright I stood!
Duty was my prime dear thing;
God was first in everything;
Joys and woes both, life did bring;
Yet, a happy song, I sing!
Earning wealth was not my aim;
Sharing knowledge brought me fame;
Being wife was just one game;
Dust was whence I truly came!
Kith and kin do always kiss;
Still some things did go amiss;
Husband is one soul, I miss;
Life was mostly joys and bliss!
I had not done something great;
I did just all do, till date;
I didn't trust in luck or fate;
I want heaven's narrow gate!
‘All seems well, ' I'm eighty aged;
Heart feels sometimes, old and caged;
Many battles I had waged;
Life didn't happen as I gauged!
God was friend to me these years;
I have hope in Him, not fears;
Though my earthly life now nears,
I must pray, until He hears!
