Sonnet: Never Give Up

Am I fighting against too many odds?
In all the world so vast, have I no friend?
Yet, death and problems come to commons/ lords;
I know this life on earth is not the end.

Could I dilute my principles too good?
Could I lower my ambitions in life?
Should I change over to a happier mood?
Could vices mitigate my earthly strife?

Unwavering must be courage on earth;
Troubles and joys are fleeting, impermanent;
Heaven is not for those without this birth;
To do good things, we need a divine bent.

Just like the sky that becomes clear and blue,
When purified, the soul too changes hue!

Sonnet: Living Wisely On Earth

I may remain a fool on earth altho’,
’Tis deliberately done you ought to know;
I can’t just live the way others want me,
For theirs isn’t the way to Eternity!

For money’s sake I can’t change my nature;
For transient joys, can I vices nurture?
The art of earthly life is to be good,
And search for God without losing one’s mood!

What if I gain the world losing my soul?
‘Do good and shame the devil’- is my goal;
This world I see is not a perfect one;
The sins we commit can sometimes us stun!

If happiness I can get on this earth,
Where is the need to seek the other Mirth?

Living Life on Earth

Laugh off your troubles all away;
Fears, known / unknown, night and day;
Live with much hope renewed, endless,
Lest turns life’s journey meaningless!

Vices and sin corrupt our life;
Be happy espoused or no wife;
Disease, penury all will strike,
Our earthly life, whenev’r they like.

By birth are we cast onto earth,
Where things perfect remain a dearth;
This world therefore can’t be heaven;
Earth is earth and heaven, Heaven.

Why bother man about stay then?
‘Take life as it comes”- men, women;
There isn’t a common way to live;
Our life’s our wealth that God did give.

Look for the writings on the wall;
We get up after every fall;
There is no time to sulk or muse;
On each depends, life’s use/ mis-use!

Why blame the Potter for the pot?
To be earthen-ware is our lot;
Let us adorn His earthly hall;
He expects not the same from all.

Let us then serve for what we are;
Death lurks so near and yet seems far;
Our duty done to Almighty,
We leave earth for eternity!

Our Ephemeral Life on Earth

Like how the heavens open bringing rain,
God’s blessings will too shower, once again,
In His own time and in His divine ways,
And make our life on earth happier in pace!

A little strife can make our face sullen;
A little suffering can life, dullen;
A little wait is all God wants of us;
A little patience brings us endless bliss!

Why should we fret and fume and cry in haste?
Why should we call our life a total waste?
All things on earth are transient in type;
Our joys in life bestow on us some hype.

This earth and heaven shall all pass away,
And come will Jesus Christ on Judgment Day;
A new heaven and earth, He will usher,
Rewarding righteous souls in great measure.

Why don’t we praise the Lord in times of strife?
Why shouldn’t we thank Him for our unique life?
Why do we grumble, mumble, murmur then?
Our life on earth is meant to gain heaven!

Good Friendship

In friendship lies, life’s beauty prime –
A bond that stands the test of time,
And withstands every change of clime.

Good friendship makes life worth living;
Than taking, life is in giving –
The crux of friendship, worth telling!

Our earthly life would be a bore,
Without good friendship at its core:
That takes each person to the fore!

Though parents care for their children,
And relatives for kith and kin,
Yet, friends usher on earth, heaven!

Happy the ones, who have good friends!
Their worries in life, almost ends:
In need, good friend always attends.

And without friends, life could be sad,
And make all events, pretty bad,
And turn some persons, almost mad!

Good friends are rarely found in life,
And help you timely in your strife –
Some turning husband or your wife!

Nurture good friendship if you can;
Essential are friends good, man:
Those add spice to your earth’s life-span.

Sonnet: We Shan’t Be Selfish

Not single friend but many foes have I,
In life, though vast be world in which I live;
All seem to lead this live so selfishly,
And not a moment for others, they give.

And yet, they want all things to happen well,
Throughout their lives and God to be their Friend;
But ego leads them finally to Hell;
Their earthly road leading to a dead-end.

Some correct lives as early as they can;
Some do it in the eleventh hour of life;
Some take the risk of mercy from God’s pan;
Some sacrifice their life, living in strife.

Our earthly toil is rent paid for Heaven!
In God’s Abode will stay afree good men.

Sonnet: Just Think Awhile, Man

Tho’ Hercules or Samson, one must die!
And leave the world after God-granted time;
But there aren’t many things in which we vie;
Each one must try to make his life sublime.

Our strength will fail us one day while on earth;
Our beauty cannot stay as such for long;
We can’t maintain forev’r a youthful girth;
Some day surely it ends our earthly-song!

Yet, happy is the man with peace of mind,
And happier is he still whose heart is pure;
And happiest is the soul of man unsinned;
A place in Heaven, God will us ensure.

Why waste life-time in things of earthly mould?
Our Shepherd Good wants us back in His fold.

Don’t Weep For Me

Please don’t mourn as I depart, for that is when my life will start.
No longer will I be facing death, I’ll be breathing Heaven’s breath.
Please don’t weep, don’t weep for me, I’ll be at home in Eternity.
I had actually died in Christ, down on earth when I had my life.
Life on this earth began for me, a pilgrim’s journey into Eternity.

When on earth I am no more, I will be in Heaven forevermore.
Finally with my Savior who died, to live for eternity by His side.
This earthly life is temporal friend, with a beginning and an end.
However, my death is not my end, for that is when I shall ascend,
To a majestic place above the sky, to reign with my Lord on high.

Unlike this earthly life my friend, a life in Heaven will have no end.
It begins for me a whole new life, spent forever with Jesus Christ.
My mortal body racked with pain, becomes immortal so I can reign,
And reign forever by Christ’s side, in a new body that’ll be glorified.
Friend, in just a moment I will change, never again to be the same.

When I ascend through that sky, Christ will indeed wipe every eye.
Friend there is no need to fear, for Christ will indeed dry every tear.
Death for me is life you see, so please my friend, don’t weep for me.
So when I die don’t mourn for me, for I will begin my life in eternity.
Just be certain you know The Lord, and I will see you again for sure.

Happy Marriage Anniversary, Dear Spouse!

Nineteen years of married life,
Despite many kinds of strife,
And problems almost so rife –
Yet, happy husband and his wife!

The key to success is hard-work,
Good understanding ’tween spouses,
And loving, obeying children –
A boon to marriage upon earth.

With God as guide, always beside,
And blessings coming from heaven,
Years pass peacefully, very fast –
The morrow can’t be worrisome!

The difference is in each one’s hands;
It doesn’t require magic wands;
A marriage between man, woman
Is always made by heaven’s nod!

Just put your faith in mighty God,
And do your duty despite odds;
Go by your conscience without pause;
Our earthly life has divine cause!

Sonnet- Make Thine Life Happy

Who says he knows all things he ought to know
With clarity, for futuristic needs?
Who says he neither has a friend or foe
Or affirms he has done only good deeds?

No Man on earth exists who is all wise;
To no one Nature gives not good advice;
Perfect is no one or without a vice;
Despite its problems all, life is quite nice.

Happy's the man, who contented life leads
And does his duty as per conscience;
Who from Nature, her immense secrets feeds,
And learns about God more even with Science.
Our life on earth is too ephemeral,
After death only it turns eternal.

Sonnet: Our Earthly Love Ain’t Divine

Let not our minds with unknown fears be filled;
Let not our hearts seek love that never fails;
Let not our endeavors be ever killed,
Till soul sinfree and Heavenwards, sets sails.

All things, we seek on earth are transient;
All things we leave back here after our death;
Our soul's return, He seeks, Omniscient;
Yet, only after our one, earthly birth.

The love on earth is not the ultimate;
The love of Heaven is always ideal;
We leave behind, joy, sorrow, love and hate;
The love of God, God's love are ones real.
On earth, we can't see love that is divine;
No vine-yard's press can make us Heaven's wine.

Looking Forward To Tomorrow

Many things that demand our concern will shortly my friend be gone,
While in the fire they shall burn our life in Eternity shall go on.
The things upon this earth are fleeting, along with our earthly life,
And in the clouds at our meeting, Christ will end our earthly strife.

For the many things in this world are indeed very temporal my friend,
And in the message that we herald, we look eagerly towards the end.
We look beyond the present time and this world that we now live in,
For by God’s own design, the end is when our new life shall begin.

We live in hope this present day as we look forward towards tomorrow,
For this present world in many ways brings upon us all many sorrows.
And after the earth is purged of sin, by The Lord’s cleansing fire,
Then a new world will begin where righteousness will be man’s desire.

But for now we press forward longing for that Eternal City up above,
And by the hand of The Lord, we are guided by His Grace and Love.
Being only our temporal place the things on earth will one day cease,
So as we seek His loving face God fills our heart with Eternal Peace.

For The Grace of God has appeared to teach us how to live each day,
With a heart of reverent fear, as we live in this present wicked age.
As we wait for our Blessed Lord who redeemed every single one of us,
We can all rest assured that He will deliver us from this wickedness.

Sonnet: Count on God

God is the best refuge for all in life;
Just count on Him; He surely can do things,
And mitigate our sufferings and strife,
And make the common men to look like kings.

Just trust in God and allow Him to deal,
With problems which we cannot hope to solve;
For God alone can wounds of heart/mind heal,
And complexities of our life resolve.

No one dare challenge pow’r of Almighty!
All live and lifeless things obey His words;
He’s the only path to Eternity,
The Good Shepherd on earth to many herds.

God’s wisdom to men chosen never fails;
There is a wind that drives life’s boat with sails.

Sonnet: Save your Soul

The greatest too one day crash down to earth;
The lowest ones have joys, grief much the same;
Just few have silver spoon in mouth at birth;
A peaceful, virtuous life must be our aim.

No monument on earth can fetch heaven;
No wax-figures in halls of fame will help;
Death makes all creatures, high and low even;
It does not matter if dogs bite or yelp!

The state of soul is primary to God;
All sinners must repent and make amends;
The Lord decides one’s celestial rewards;
To earthly wants, God always still attends.

No edifice, name, fame forever stands;
The good we do enlists us in God’s bands!

Christian Marriage

God made you two as man and wife,
And live as one in earthly life;
The two bodies are now one flesh;
In Jesus Christ, you dwell, refresh.

No one on earth can separate,
Two souls ‘en way’ to Heaven’s Gate;
The marriage vows you took ’fore Lord,
Come sanctified by Divine Word.

For, Matrimony- sacrament,
Was made by Christ, a monument;
Forever love must then prevail,
Whatever comes as strife, travail.

When Christ suffered for sins of ours,
And shed His blood by death on cross,
Our suffering on earth is naught;
In joy of after-life, we’re caught!

God helps us brave all storms in life,
And timely aids us in all strife;
In Him, our faith should grow always
Until we pass our earthly days!

Ne’er fear: for God ne’er will forsake
The souls who live for His own sake;
Nor will He ever abandon
His righteous ones, the least even.

Believe the Lord and all He says;
Success on earth too comes in days;
Prepare your soul with grace always;
A Christian true has won the race!

Not Works of Righteousness

It is not by works of righteousness, that from Hell, I am saved,
For I’m filled with wickedness, with a heart that is so depraved;
My salvation is by God’s Grace, and it’s all God’s Grace alone,
That I’m saved from that place, to enter Heaven, as God’s Own.

All believing that they are good, by their works, to enter above,
Must heed what’s understood, no one on earth is good enough,
For every earthly soul falls short, of God’s Perfect Glory above,
But, The Good News does report, that He saves us by His Love.

Holy God cannot strive with sin; the sin that’s tainted every soul;
From the very day that we begin, all are cursed from Adam’s fall,
That sin has separated all of us, from our Creator, Lord and God,
So our God sent His Son Jesus, down to the sinful earth we trod.

For the righteous He didn’t come, when to this earth He was sent,
But, He came that all, not just some, fallen sinners, would repent,
To turn from sin to God’s Son, the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Who had come to grant everyone, through New Birth, Eternal Life.

One belief, that’s worse than sad, for one’s entrance into Heaven,
Have your good outweigh your bad, which is only spiritual leaven,
For the single way to be assured, of your life in Heaven Eternally,
Is a sinner’s faith alone in The Lord, through The Cross of Calvary.

Sonnet: God Show Me My Way

Why should I tow the other people’s lines?
I have my own good principles to keep;
Why should I take to their exotic wines?
According to one’s deeds, each one must reap!

Why should I argue uselessly o’er things?
I must keep doing things all my way;
O let me take the good or bad life brings;
When I’m finished, let me call it a day.

Why should I copy other people’s ways?
O let me do all things in my own style;
And who knows, who lives, for how many days?
Let me never keep pending any file.

‘Tis God who judges every soul on Earth;
He only knows the reasons for each birth!

Sonnet: Most Earthly Things Don't Last For Long!

There are some things we wished to have in life;
We tried our level-best to get them fast,
Despite our poverty, trials and strife;
But once acquired, they turned things of past!

There are some more, we could not get at all,
Despite our many struggles to procure;
But then, they turned like autumn leaves that fall;
And left us just the anguish to endure!

Nevertheless, all earthly things don't last;
Our soul carries the good and bad, we do;
Our evil done stealthily looks aghast;
The good we did becomes scarce, almost few!

All things of earth return to dust some day!
The state of soul decides after-life's way!

To my Wife dear, beloved in Christ…

Twenty years of married life have rolled off fast!
Our woes and trials are things of the past;
Our earthly problems, strife cannot long last;
The world of joys in store for us is vast!

The love you gave to me was memorable;
The care you gave us all was adorable;
The timely words you spoke were admirable;
The toil you gave for family – incomparable!

Life’s burden seems lighter when in Christ Lord;
We’ve learnt to live in piety, accord;
The Lord is our refuge and strength, fortress;
Let’s call to Him aloud when in distress.

Let love be bond between the spouses two;
Let fortitude be guide in things we do;
Let earthly life be Christ-centered in base;
Let heaven be our goal and dream always.

May God bestow His blessings on us dear!
Let’s work unceasingly and without fear;
Let peace prevail when end of life gets near;
Let grace of God become soul’s dress and gear!

Religion or Life

Religion I hate, Life I love; one’s from earth the other from above,
The Life I love is from God, while religion is from this earthly sod.
A religion of earth leads to death; Life from God is eternal breath,
New Life is given by Christ Jesus, as religion will only mislead us.

Religion, call it what you may, distorts Truth from God’s only way,
The way provided to all of us, who in God’s Word place their trust,
New Life from God, in His Son, regarding truth, is second to none,
For religion truthfully has no part, in truly changing a sinner’s heart.

Religion can make us feel good, creating a common brotherhood,
Filling life with religious stuff, but salvifically it doesn’t do enough.
It doesn’t reach the heart of men, inspiring them to be Born Again,
Through the Spirit of Jesus Christ, who alone offers men New Life.

Religion can fill a need on earth, but, eternally men need new birth,
We need to be born spiritually, to have new life with God eternally.
All religions on earth my friend, with the world will come to an end,
While all who have Life from God, will live beyond this earthly sod.

Religion comes in many forms, and around men’s ways conforms,
While God’s Only Way is higher, with Eternal Life being His desire,
Which will be granted to all of us, who, in His Son place their trust,
A Life far above all man’s ways, while giving to God eternal praise.

Personality

"Death is to us change, not consummation."
Heart of Midlothian.

A change! no, surely, not a change,
   The change must be before we die;
Death may confer a wider range,
   From pole to pole, from sea to sky,
It cannot make me new or strange
   To mine own Personality!

For what am I? -- this mortal flesh,
   These shrinking nerves, this feeble frame,
For ever racked with ailments fresh
   And scarce from day to day the same --
A fly within the spider's mesh,
   A moth that plays around the flame!

THIS is not I -- within such coil
   The immortal spirit rests awhile:
When this shall lie beneath the soil,
   Which its mere mortal parts defile,
THAT shall for ever live and foil
   Mortality, and pain, and guile.

Whatever Time may make of me
   Eternity must see me still
Clear from the dross of earth, and free
   From every stain of every ill;
Yet still, where-e'er -- what-e'er I be,
   Time's work Eternity must fill.

When all the worlds have ceased to roll,
   When the long light has ceased to quiver
When we have reached our final goal
   And stand beside the Living River,
This vital spark -- this loving soul,
   Must last for ever and for ever.

To choose what I must be is mine,
   Mine in these few and fleeting days,
I may be if I will, divine,
   Standing before God's throne in praise, --
Through all Eternity to shine
   In yonder Heaven's sapphire blaze.

Father, the soul that counts it gain
   To love Thee and Thy law on earth,
Unchanged but free from mortal stain,
   Increased in knowledge and in worth,
And purified from this world's pain,
   Shall find through Thee a second birth.

A change! no surely not a change!
   The change must be before we die;
Death may confer a wider range
   From world to world, from sky to sky,
It cannot make me new or strange
   To mine own Personality!
