Sonnet: Keep Your Promises
When promises are made, keep them will you?
If not, never make promises that all;
Your words uttered must be carried out too;
Foolish-statements can bring on one’s downfall!
All words spoken must be done with great care;
A smooth-tongued man cannot go on for long;
One can’t allow the nails to grow but pare!
The tongue can curse or sing a soothing song!
Why think one thought and do another thing?
’Tis best to be as frank as you can be;
All sugared-words cannot results good bring;
It is wise to speak with care whole-heartedly.
Honor must one, the promises one makes;
Ingredients decide the cake, one bakes!

Sad Promises That You Said
i thought i felt your arms cup around me
but it was just the soft embrace
of my favorite stuffed animal
you laid some inches away
and the physical contact
and all the promises were at a minimal
you told me that you loved me
then you deceived me
told me that you wanted me
then you avoided me
your distance was cute
but now it's annoying

I know somebody that says things
without thinking about it
and without caring
about the impact of words.
Where words are at times innocent,
it can be deadly
and at times it’s impossible,
to make things
that has been said undone.
Words can make people,
can inspire, cheer on,
bring gladness,
but just like that
words can break people
and cause great unhappiness.
It’s wise to care about every word
and to protect your mouth

Promises
Promises are comfort to a fool.
And I'm that fool.
In our many years of existence we have all had the leading role of being that fool.
Onto promises.......
I have numerous Oscar's for I know I play that role oh so well.
I wondered why do I fall victim to this.
The purpose of a promise was never to break it
BUT.....
If it is broken it becomes a lie.
I wondered why do I fall victim to promises.
It is maybe because I'm a Promise Keeper.
I am an addict for promises.
I could never stay away from it.
Never stop believe in it.
A promise is equivalent to 'say what you mean' and 'mean what you say'.
So when a promise is made to me it is align with the saying,
'It's like taking candy from a baby'.
Not naive for I know never to believe in Promises.
Optimistic, maybe.
I always believe in promises.
WHY? ?
Because when I make them I do my best to keep them no matter the circumstances.
Promises are my Opium.
But I must say most of the promises made to me were kept.
But as for now, , , I'm getting the bad side effects.
