Sonnet: Great Things Can Be Missed

So narrow’s gap between one’s love and lust!
So brittle’s line between world’s war and peace!
’Tis photo-finish ’tween second and first!
A trifle separates labor from ease!

So narrow’s zone ’tween contempt and friendship!
A hair’s breath decides human love from hate!
Narrow’s the gap ’tween stranger and sib-ship!
A trifle’s ’tween God’s providence and fate!

One mouth of air decides one’s life and death!
A wrong premise turns believer, atheist!
’Tween birth and death, ’tis hair-line in its breath!
The hand that saves can turn into a fist!

But wide’s the gap between Heaven and Hell;
You choose just one and hang onto it well!

Sonnet- Opposites

Between love, hate, it is an episode;
'Tween inebriety or not, 'Tis some gin;
'Tween obedience or not, 'tis the code;
Between Heav'n and hell, a mortal sin.

Between the thought and act, 'tis a trifle;
'Tween the kind and unkind word, a tongue's slip;
Between restraint, a trigger's pull of Rifle;
Between a brave act or cowardice, a whip.

Between great help or neglect, a moment;
Bewteen a friend or foe, an incident;
Between surgery or not, incision;
Between success or failure, decision.

Our earthly-stay is for a single time,
We’re free to ruin our soul or make sublime.

Sex Has Come Between Us

Ah, ah, ah
Sex has come between us
(come between us, come between us)
Sex has come between us
(come between us, come between us)
You were my best friend (best friend)
We've been through much together
And you have seen me (seen me)
In both good and bad weather
Someone had asked me
I'da said "Never!"
You kissed me and I kissed back
Boy and a girl, it's a natural fact
Sex has come between us
(come between us, come between us)
Sex has come between us
(come between us, tween, t-t-t-tween us)
Everything has changed
It's getting dull and strange
Sex has come between us
Okay
It was Sunday night (it was Sunday night)
You came over for coffee
And we stayed up all night (and we stayed up all night)
Getting closer just talking
Someone had asked me
And I'da said "No way!"
You touched me and I touched back
Girl and a boy in a natural act
Sex has come between us
(come between us, come between us)
Sex has come between us
(come between us, tween, t-t-t-tween us)
Everything has changed
It's getting dull and strange
Sex has come between us
You turn, turn me on
I never thought, thought you would
Is this a big, big mistake?
Or is this something good?
Sex has come between us
(come between us, come between us)
Sex has come between us
(come between us, tween, t-t-t-tween us)
Everything has changed
It's getting dull and strange
Sex has come between us
Everything has changed
It's pitiful and strange
How we rearrange
Sex..has come between us
Sex has come between us
(come between us, come between us)
Sex has come between us
(come between us, tween, t-t-t-tween us)
Everything has changed
It's getting dull and strange
Sex has come between us
You were my best friend

The Teacher

A Cross is slanting ‘tween two withered trees -

I saw him first in peace, amid a crowd
Of streets, nor dreamed him ever one of these,
So wistfully he mused, so shyly proud,
So chalk-besmeared he walked his weary pace.
A space went, - and on an early day
Within the trench, I saw a half-known face
Awake with wonder; a child-lived heart at play
With dreamed romance: a Drake-keen eye ashine
For newer worlds……A thunder tore the line!…..
A shell burst!….. He smiled as Sidney smiled-
And fell…..There came the crying of a child,
…..A wave of little hands…..a soft breeze

The cross is slanting ‘tween two withered trees.

Right & Wrong

Stop everything
I think I hear the president
The pied piper of the tv screen
Is gonna make it simple
And hes got it all mapped out
And illustrated with cartoons
Too hard for clever folks to understand
Theyre more used to words like:
Ideology . . .
Theyre not talkin bout right and left
Theyre talkin bout
Right and wrong - do you know the difference
Right and wrong - do you know the difference
tween the right and the left and the east and the west
What you know and the things that youll never see
So what ya think
You like the yankees or the mets this year
And what about this latest war of words
And what about the commies
I saw the news last night
All illustrated with cartoons
So when they come with that opinion poll
They better not use words like
Ideology . . .
Or try to tell me bout the issues
Ideology . . .
Whose side are you on
Were talkin bout
Right and wrong - do you know the difference
Right and wrong - do you know the difference
tween the right and the left and the east and the west
What you know and the things that youll never see
Where are we?
Right and wrong - do you know the difference
Right and wrong - do you know the difference
tween the right and the left and the east and the west
What you know and the things that youll never see

With My Heart

The dawn of another morning
The dawn of an old longing
Long for your company

I once was passion on fire
But now a gun for hire
Cause something came tween you and me

I loved you with all I had
But you threw it all back
Threw it back in my face

But if you ever need somewhere
Somewhere where you needn't fear
You can come to my place

You can tear me up in pieces
Lay them out in the street
Each one would cry, every part

I don't care what you have done
You will always be the one
I love with my heart

I know that is stupid
After all that you did
But my heart wont let go

My head tells me to walk away
But my heart wants you to stay
Cause it loves you so

Tween my head and heart
They are worlds apart
But I know where I'll start

In spite of the strife and pain
I'll keep on though no gain
I'll love you with my heart

If one day you get broken
Please remember what I've spoken
Wherever you might be at

My arms are still open
To welcome you home
Cause I love you with my heart.

Buckaroo

I ain't a lookin' for a smart guy school guy
Some proud in-crowd decked-out necktie
I need a man who can tame a wild mustang
Knows the difference 'tween love and lust thang
Somebody who looks a whole lot like you
Buckaroo

Ain't interested in a yes 'mam yes man
I'll pass on the politically correct man
I'm set on fencin' in a desperado
Takes my breath away like Colorado
Who ain't afraid to walk a mile in my boots

The Shrouding of the Duchess of Malfi

Hark, now everything is still,
The screech-owl and the whistler shrill,
Call upon our dame aloud,
And bid her quickly don her shroud!
Much you had of land and rent;
Your length in clay's now competent:
A long war disturbed your mind;
Here your perfect peace is signed.
Of what is't fools make such vain keeping?
Sin their conception, their birth weeping,
Their life a general mist of error,
Their death a hideous storm of terror.
Strew your hair with powders sweet,
Don clean linen, bathe your feet,
And (the foul fiend more to check)
A crucifix let bless your neck:
'Tis now full tide 'tween night and day;
End your groan, and come away.

C` i` r` r` h` o` s` i` s`

The vintage Jeraboam was like ether, an aural fantacide;
Mercurial Mind......irascible to the drumming of its walls;
Time escapes 'tween the threads of numbness and coma;
The Human Liver...labours deep, be it sotted...be it sober,

Yet only by the finest line that crosses Breath with Death.

Ostensibly brain-froze, still your nerves sense the needles;
Elixur potentate....might as well be injected with profofol;
The events, the illusion....that mirage in your Dreamscape-
All pass, as the movement of the Rapid Eye draws closure,
For the Mind not be born to sustain abuse so great as this.

And you awake to find your flesh a deepest shade of ochre.

Sonnet: ’Tis Very Clear

What’s the conflict between God and my soul?
I know God is the Omnipotent One!
And being sin-free is my earthly goal;
To enter Heaven, isn’t something called fun!

What’s the confusion ’tween the right and wrong?
God gave each one conscience to sort this out;
Can uncleans’d sinners be, the saints among?
That pure souls only see God- there’s no doubt!

How can I serve devils and go to God?
One has to choose just one between the two:
Ignoring Heaven invites God’s just Rod!
You can’t serve devils and also God woo!

Senses Working Overtime

Hey, hey,
The clouds are whey.
Theres straw for the donkeys,
And the innocents can all sleep safely,
All sleep safely.
My, my,
Sun is pie.
Theres fodder for the cannons,
And the guilty ones can all sleep safely,
All sleep safely.
And all the world is football-shaped
Its just for me to kick in space
And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste
And Ive got one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime
Trying to take this all in.
Ive got one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime
Trying to taste the difference
tween a lemon and a lime
Pain and the pleasure
And the church bells softly chime.
Hey hey,
Night fights day.
Theres food for the thinkers,
And the innocents can all live slowly,
All live slowly.
My, my,
The sky will cry
Jewels for the thirsty,
And the guilty ones can all die slowly ,
All die slowly.
And all the world is biscuit-shaped,
Its just for me to feed my face,
And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste,
And Ive got one, two, three, four, five,
Senses working overtime
Trying to take this all in.
Ive got one, two, three, four, five,
Senses working overtime
Trying to taste the difference,
tween a lemon and a lime,
Pain and the pleasure,
And the church bells softly chime,
And birds might fall from black skies,
And bullies might give you black eyes,
But to me its very, very beautiful
(englands glory!)
Beautiful
(a striking beauty!)
And all the world is football-shaped,
Its just for me to kick in space,
And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste,
And Ive got one, two, three, four, five,
Senses working overtime
Trying to take this all in
Ive got one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime
Trying to tell the difference
tween the goods and grime
Turds and treasure
And theres one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime
Trying to take this all in
Ive got one, two, three, four, five
Senses working overtime
Trying to taste the difference

Autumn's Doldrums

All things were naught but quiet…
Quiet as a babies breath
Not a meandering breeze
Nor dragonfly sneeze
Could pierce the Autumn's depth

Seasons caught …
twixt heat and cold
Juxtaposed, in deep repose
Seeming not to make so bold…
To decide ‘tween life and death

All things in a state of stasis
A thoughtful pause… (As it were)
When things with wings
And scaly things
And even things with fur

Seem to sink
into deep contemplation
As if to ponder, their fate…
In dark contempt…Or admiration
It matters not…It's much too late

For Mother Nature…once rested
Will release the breeze to the waiting trees
Will bid Jack Frost hello…
Then clothe them flimsy
With an air of whimsy

In raiment of crystal snow…

Trapped

I'm trapped

In a place so tiny I feel grimy just thinking about anything that's shiny
Don't mind me

I'm alone in a zone that was dead to the world long before I was unknown
Icicles on the bone

Melancholy's jollies peeling away feelings from the shadows I'm concealing
Revealing

Next to nothing I am something to hold on to like a schizophrenic mumbling
Slumping

In a sliver of a river 'tween the genius of a saint and psychosis of a sinner
And binger

Drunk and out to catch all the facts and the acts while my breath is doing laps
I'm trapped

Sonnet: God Loves Man Utmost

Of all His creatures, big and small, God made
Just man to walk upright and to reason;
‘tween good and bad and to do good, He bade;
To love Him deep regardless of season.

Of all His creatures, to man, He gave soul;
A dorsum flat to rest supine on earth;
To watch the Heavens and reset his goal;
To ponder why he got his unique birth.

Of all His creatures, Man, God loves utmost;
He made him pure and pure, He must return;
Heaven's the banquet, God, to man shall host,
Devils and evil souls in hell shall burn.
God so loved man, He gave His only son,
A cruciate death, His plan stays still half-done.

Here In My Heart

I feel a love that's so hard to bear
Won't you come kiss me and take this despair
Let the morning time dapple its light in your hair
Like warm running water in snow

But I fear a love of jealousy and pain
Lost in the race 'tween the foolish and vain
Come the morning time whistle and take you away
Where the sun always burns in the Winter

Oh... Here in my heart
Oh... Here in my heart

And I know that all I'm saying is wrong
Etched in the night-time and rhymed in a song
Come tomorrow I'll lighten up and drink to the ones
Who love without asking for loving

Don't forsake me

There Is Dew For The Flow'ret

There is dew for the flow'ret
And honey for the bee,
And bowers for the wild bird,
And love for you and me.
There are tears for the many
And pleasures for the few;
But let the world pass on, dear,
There's love for me and you.
There is care that will not leave us,
And pain that will not flee;
But on our hearth unalter'd
Sits Love—'tween you and me.
Our love it ne'er was reckon'd,
Yet good it is and true,
It's half the world to me, dear,
It's all the world to you.
