Sonnet: Darkness amidst Light

When black clouds fill the sky, preventing light,
And darkness shrouds to mask all hope in life;
When day has darkened suddenly like night,
And normal life is thrown off gear by strife;

When Christmas joy is changed by newer grief,
And old year’s peace is threatened by new wars;
When common man gets no longer relief,
As corruption sky-rockets to the stars;

When terror acts disturb a tranquil state,
And Nature’s furies strike havoc on earth;
When unexpected verdicts change one’s fate,
And leaders good and wise appear a dearth;

The victims’ pleas and cries go to the Lord:
A better world is ushered in by God!

Oh, Stop the Wars, Man!

Oh, stop the wars, Man
Let peace prevail again;
Wars bring more death
And destruction, not peace;
Christmas is near-
The birthday of Jesus;
He brings both joy
And peace to good-willed men!

Oh, stop the wars, Man!
For, they are meaningless;
No nation should
Invade the other;
The blood of innocent lives lost
Cries out to God for revenge;
Violence begets
Violence always.

Oh, stop the wars, Man!
And stop the mad killings;
The air and soil
And water get polluted;
What colossal wastes
Of lives, money and materials!
Do leaders know
That wars boomerang?

Oh, stop the wars, Man!
Let nations live in peace;
Nature’s furies,
We must always face.
Use the money
To build the earth,
And help the poor.
Only then, God will bless
Your own country!

‘Wish You A Happy New Year 2008! ’

The storms of life are gone, perhaps;
The winds of change have blown over;
Black-clouds that loomed have cleared at last;
Our strife and woes are things of past!

The old year cruised off splendidly;
It brought more blessings than we thought;
The New Year’s Eve was not that good;
Nevertheless thank God, we should.

Let’s hope, the New Year brings more joys;
Let’s pray the world is fairer still;
Let’s put our minds and hearts and souls,
Performing gladly newer roles!

The God of love abandons none;
The Lord of Truth forsakes no one;
The caring God will meet our wants:
Let’s work better than even ants!

May peace prevail across the globe!
May innocents be never killed!
May poor curse not a man or God!
May God withold His angry rod!

Sonnet: Elections’ Aftermath!

The elections are over in some states;
The better parties have come back to pow’r;
Some corrupt ministers had sealed their fates;
The summer heat is lessened by cool show’r.

The sufferings of farmers ceased a bit;
Most lakes are full of water brought by rain;
Relief sighs come from teachers who’re hard-hit;
Government servants seem happy again.

Most people hope to live a peaceful life;
Their days of debts and eating rats are gone;
The leader now will help them out of strife;
The Rising Sun has brought a newer dawn!

Let’s thank the Lord who changed the state of things!
Let pride / revenge not fill the hearts of kings!

New Year 2008

As the old year fades
And the New Year comes,
Most hearts and minds
Emotional become.

But thank we must
The Almighty,
For all the good things
That had happened.

Let’s efface the thoughts
Of woes, grief and strife;
Let’s hope the New Year
Will fill in those gaps
With joys and ecstasies.

Let’s all resolve
To lead better lives
As the New Year arrives,
And thank the Lord.

Let’s be soul-wise;
Let’s give up vice;
Let’s heed advice
From people nice.

As New Year unfolds,
Let’s pray to God
To bestow cheer,
All through the New Year.

Sonnet: The Old Year

The old year passed off smoothly after all;
God blessed most nations rather profusely;
To many souls, God gave His clarion call;
He chose new leaders who would work truly!

God brought the rains on time and helped us farm;
He gave the sun to help harvest the crops;
He saved us from accidents and great harm;
He blessed the land like early morn dew-drops!

The year rolled off quite calmly from the start;
Most people heaved sighs of greater relief;
God’s mercy flowed in excess from His heart;
Let’s thank the Lord for strengthening our belief!

The Tsunami’s havoc has been undone;
Let peace prevail on earth without a gun.

Sonnet: Our Faith Saves Us

Whenever hope seems lost in earthly life,
Despair begins to seize the human heart,
And joys appear replaced by newer strife,
We want divine intercession to start!

Our faith should all the more be strengthened fast;
Desert all doubts of miracles on earth;
We must take heart from our glorious past;
Increase our pleas to God with prayers’ girth!

Victory cannot elude the brave and bold;
Success will smile our way ultimately;
God opens avenues surprising world;
Our life again is transformed so stately.

Victory comes to those who trust in the Lord;
Nothing surpasses the kindness of God!

Bible Stories: Job (Chapter XVII)

Job Speaks On:

So broken is my spirit, Lord!
My lamp of life looks extinguished;
Their provocations mount high, God;
My eyes grow dim as I feel mocked;
My burial seems imminent!

Their minds to knowledge are darkened;
They cannot understand therefore.
Evil’s my lot, as they described;
My name to people is by-word;
I am their object of lesson.

Who will stand surety for me?
Grant me one who will pledge for me;
My eyes are blind with anguish, Lord;
My frame is just a shadow, God.

All upright men are astonished;
Yet, righteous hold on to his way;
Clean-handed ones improve in strength;
I find no wise man amidst you.

My earthly days are almost gone;
My plans seem finally all torn;
Such men can change to day, the night;
In darkness, they talk of bright light.

If my dwelling be nether world,
My couch in darkness is enshroud;
If ‘corruption’ be my father,
And maggots- my sister, mother!

About my hope, who does bother?
Where’s prosperity, my brother?
Will they come with me to nether?
To dust shall we go together?

Invoking God’s Help

God, break the bonds of evil men;
Annul their corrupt ties;
How long can common man suffer?
Should he, until he dies?

God, punish men who harm others
And steal and cheat the poor;
The beggars sleeping by road-side
Get killed and maimed each hour!

God, protect those who work for peace
And bring to end the wars;
The leaders who make blunders must
Be put behind the bars!

God, make the earth a better place
For men to live with joy;
No nation must threaten the next
Or subjugate by ploy!

God, reward men who labor hard
For righteousness in life;
Their honesty must give success
Despite their growing strife!

Sonnet: New Shepherds!

Alone, I live a life of solitude,
Although surrounded by many persons;
This world is one full of ingratitude,
Where people change their hearts for no reasons!

No soul I know on whom I can depend;
The few good people change in tune with times;
I struggle myself trying to defend;
The world has changed ahead of changing climes!

But I can see new Shepherds in limelight;
The Lord performs miracles through these souls;
Despite the looming darkness amidst light,
The Maker gives these men of God, new roles!

The Holy Spirit dwells and functions well,
In turning many souls, away from hell.

Sonnet: ‘Happy New Year,2010! ’

A Global Wish for 2010
Oh, let the New Year, two thousand and ten,
Afill the world with lasting peace and mirth,
And make the planet almost like heaven,
Where hope and harmony has its rebirth.

Oh, let the New Year keep hearts in good cheer,
Where every person ekes a useful life,
Afilled with happiness and without fear,
Combating challenges, despite the strife.

Oh, let the New Year fulfill dreams of all,
And bring a meaning to our earthly stay,
Where stemming corruption is clarion call,
And terrorism cannot have its way!

All people breathe the air of freedom, when,
Pray God ushers a Happy New Year, then.

Where is Peace?

Where is the peace within the mind?
Where is the peace within the heart?
Where is the peace within the home?
Where is the peace within the womb?
Where is the peace within the soul?

When leaders brag of peace that’s quite untrue;
And dialogues boast of progress in peace,
And regimes fall so suddenly by coup,
With world in chaos, can man live with ease?

Yes, warring leaders get prizes for peace!
The undeserving get rewarded fast;
They fan the flames of wars that never cease;
The righteous ones on earth can barely last!

The rosary can only give men peace;
The evil can’t escape God’s scourge / disease;
The wicked hearts will have to pay high fees,
When walking upon risky roads like geese.

When young girls turn mothers from early sex,
And lesbian, gay threaten social order,
Ev’n leaders are in political fix
And stay in good and bad twilight border!

When nations rich with lesser people kill
Their unborn babies, without any shame,
God makes their environs and soil quite ill,
For doing sins, without taking the blame!

The living God of life can’t bear such crimes,
As man takes advantage of His kindness;
He ushers forth changes in earthly climes,
And Nature pours her furies ruthlessly!

Just prayer buys God’s mercy immensely;
Just prayer can turn tides in man’s favor;
Just prayer brings to halt wars suddenly;
Just prayer gains God’s sympathy, waiver!

Let mankind offer prayers all the more!
Let fervent prayers heal God’s heart that’s sore!
Let man bring back God into his heart’s core;
Then God will open another new door!

India’s Sixtieth Independence Day!

Sixty years have rolled off
Since India turned afree;
But minds and hearts of people
Stays in malady!

Not all’s well with the nation;
Where is social justice?
And rampant is corruption,
Plaguing most sectors.

Some brethren poor are poorer;
Some leaders stay so rich;
And diseases are rife,
Making life black as pitch!

The politics is awful;
They waste a lot of sums;
The needs of poor are unmet;
So is the score at stumps!

And Nature has been furious
In unexpected ways;
Will not Indians soon wake up
And change their future days?

Who cares about the struggles
Our freedom-fighters faced?
With love and bonds of friendship,
No more our hearts seem based!

God, usher in anew times
And make all realize
That progress needs hard labor,
Peace and sacrifice!
‘Jai Hind! Jai Bharat! ’

Sonnet: 2012, New Year

At stroke of twelve midnight, New Year is born!
The world moves on in time to new a phase,
As history leaves with memories adorn;
Most nations brace themselves up for rat-race!

The old year’s failures must be made up fast;
Some newer strategies could bring success;
No wasteful brooding can undo the past;
Some leaders aim to do things by duress!

Yet, Nature’s furies tend to unnerve all;
More food and cash are needed for mouths new;
Unity seems to be the clarion call;
So planners think with depth to cast a view.

Though predictions and strategies could fail,
Yet, wisdom, labour help life’s ship to sail!

Sonnet: Wars Must Cease- Thou Shalt Not Kill!

If men keep killing fellow-men on earth
In wars that leaders start without reason,
God will deny through Nature any mirth,
And teach the human race, a good lesson!

What right has man to destroy human life?
God gave a soul to everyone by love;
He helps the human beings in all strife;
He cares for them forever from above!

All senseless killings ought to stop at once;
The wrath of God is more than Nature’s rage;
No lasting peace can be ushered by guns!
Each man must try to live akin a sage.

When sun, wind, rain can destroy man with ease,
All tendencies to kill by man must cease!

On the Eve of the New Year,2012

Whatev’r the old year had to say, it said!
Whatev’r the past year had to bring, it brought!
Whatev’r the past, let memories good stay;
Let strife that came, embolden hearts and minds!

The old year had its good and bad well-mixed;
Let’s hope the New Year brings more joy and smiles;
Let dreams unfulfilled become realities;
Let world brazen itself for newer feats!

Yet, sense of values must prevail in life;
A moralistic society must grow;
The youth today must make better adults;
World nations must have ties of love and peace!

Let carnal needs not supercede the soul’s!
Let human lives remain priceless, sacred;
Let leaders not waste wealth for vain glory;
Let God remain foremost in endeavours!

Let downtrodden receive more attention;
Let terrorism weeds be pulled by roots;
Let physically challenged get more aid;
Let love exchanges greet the human race!

Happy New Year,2006

Born is A New Year!
Gone is an old year;
Let’s add new cheer,
Live without fear.

Greet your neighbors;
Greet some strangers;
Greet all your friends;
And make amends.

’Tis never late
To change one’s fate;
Problems abate:
Wait for that date.

Forget past woes;
Forget chaos;
With hope, of course:
Thus, our life goes.

Abide in God;
Await His nod;
Avoid His rod,
And thank the Lord.

When God's with us,
There is no curse;
Walk without fuss;
He sure will bless.

Sonnet: Good-bye, My Friend!

‘Good-bye my friend’, I say, ‘Good-bye to you; ’
’Tis time I turned my boat from off your shore;
Our friendship stayed quite strangely pleasant too;
Now, I must leave to do things, many more.’

Great is the love that binds thick friends togeth’r;
Strange are situations rifting them apart;
Our friendship ought to stay on however,
Till from this planet, we both shall depart.

Disturb can none the moon when seeing earth;
Prevent can none the sun from sharing light;
Philosophers are in this world a dearth;
But still, the day must give way to the night.

Good-bye, my friend, for we are poles apart;
But let us hope we both do well our part!

Sonnet: When Death Comes Like a Thief…

Behind the veil of newer grief and tears,
God’s Will be done in every Christian’s life;
The love of God may take away few dears,
And tests us with great woes and added strife.

The ways of God are stranger than we think;
He takes some righteous who deserve heaven;
He wipes out evil souls whose sins may stink;
He ignores some for long, whose God’s demon.

Yet, when death strikes a person most holy,
The righteous pray in unison to God
To comfort members of his family,
All shocked by stricken grief that’s just but odd!

God’s ways surprise the wisest ones on earth;
His love of mankind never suffers dearth.
