it is wiser for government, politicians, parties
those can't address key issues of people
to seek re-election

None of the Above (Political)
I've listened to their speeches.
Read their termite riddled planks.
They're unlikely to dethrone Barrack-
A pity, Mitt is no tom Hanks.
They are out of touch with women,
unsympathetic to the poor.
They're still fighting social issues
that were decided years before.
For a party of small government,
They sure have a lot to say
about Sex in America
among the unwed and the gay.
The Democrats, by contrast,
Hit all the right social notes;
Indeed, they will say anything
if it will buy them votes.
Then, when we hit the fiscal cliff,
The Obamas living large,
I'm sure he'll find some Bush to blame
as long as he's in charge.
Election Day is coming soon,
Both parties seek my love.
Alas, my favorite candidate
is None of the Above.

NO NEED TO VOTE Apr 8th,2011
Canadians should have compulsory voting or be fined,
Otherwise they may as well be retarded, deaf, dumb and blind,
Because our politicians avoid issues that should be up front,
Binding referendums and death-with-dignity to be blunt.
It’s law in the state of Oregon, Washington and Switzerland,
But for some reason; here in Canada it is strictly banned,
Doctor assisted suicide banned by appointed Supreme Court,
And they are not elected so they need no one’s support.
And we are having an election about no issues that count,
Though politicians are all excited to no small amount,
They seem to think that they will never come face to face with death,
As they run here and there and they are almost out of breath.

The So Called Honorable
For to cling to power or for need of power on most policies they disagree
Between the Government and their Opposition there's does not seem much difference to me
Those out of power verbally attack those in power that is how it's been for years
Who wins or loses the Election should not be cause for joy or tears.
Who is in or out of power I for one do not care
That they do not bring change to my life for the good I am all too aware
Democracy is the best form of Government by many we are told
But the workings of Parliament has not changed from the long gone days of old.
Of the praises of Democratically Elected Governments many feel happy to sing
But in Parliament that Parliamentarians obliged to vote with their own parties does not seem a democratic thing
And that the Party or Parties elected by the majority of the voters makes decisions for everyone
Is hardly true democracy when all is said and done.
The hierarchy refer to Parliamentarins as the honorable a title he or she for life does keep
But such a title for most Politicians makes the word honor seem cheap
Like dysfunctional adolescents in Parliament every day
Supposed to be honorable men and women behave in a most immature way.

Dignity As An Election Issue Oct 5th,2012
The Sue Rodriguez syndrome may eventually haunt us all,
As we get closer to death and certainly not having a ball,
Because death with dignity is completely forbidden here,
The doctor, who assisted you, could go to jail and disappear.
And the government can't change it because this is Supreme Court stuff,
They may try it in Quebec but this could be legally rough,
But I admire them for having the guts - the only province to try,
As, without death with dignity, we all get in a lineup to die.
Unfortunately our politicians tend to hide about this,
Never mention that some people have it, such as the Swiss,
But our isolated politicians are in Ottawa very far away,
They want nothing to change and please no election issue or day.

People are so docile right now. It is almost as if good government means when the politicians lie to us for our own good, for the public good, and bad government is when politicians lie for their own selfish interests.

Canadian Forbidden Issues Nov 6th,2012
Canadian binding referendums are completely forbidden,
Our peaceful politicians don't want to be overridden,
Just like death-with-dignity issues - we're going nowhere,
Ottawa aristocrats wont allow it so we don't stand a prayer.
And we don't have set date elections so no one knows for sure,
Because politicians can cause these issues to be obscure,
And bought media moguls concentrate on different stuff,
As if other issues are more important and that's enough.
You can't vote for a senator so these issues too stay vague,
Therefore death-with-dignity has to be avoided like the plague,
And you don't have to vote at all so you can just stay home,
Or take a vacation or buy a new car with lots of shiny chrome.

The Lust For Power Is An Addiction
The lust for power is an addiction the Government their own praises do sing
And rubbish their main opposition as to Government they try to cling
The voters bombarded with propaganda right up until election day
The true fact of all politicians is they seldom do mean what they say
The winners take all of the glory and the winners they do celebrate
The prize it is great and worth lying for that's how they feel those who wish to rule the State
The lust for power is an addiction and not a harmless addiction 'twould seem
Without such power some people feel worthless and suffer of low self esteem
Some people become so power hungry that power to their egos is fuel
They feel it is their right to Govern that they have been born to rule
The Opposition as bad as the Government they too want power in the worst way
Any respect to their political opponents they have no desire for to pay
It is all about power and their egos power to them is the best thing of all
Their pride to them is all that matter though pride it can come before a fall.

POLITICIANS AND DEATH Mar 24th,2011
I’m concerned about my own eventual future death,
And the lack of political concern about my last breath,
They couldn’t care less, when or where or how we die,
This couldn’t happen to them because it doesn’t apply.
It’s all because Death With Dignity is illegal here,
Therefore our pompous politicians barely look and leer,
But I’ve got news for them; they too will eventually die,
It may even be slow, long and painful amid their loud cries.
Therefore our eventual Death With Dignity should be discussed,
And why do our politicians view this subject with disgust?
We’re having an election but parties wont talk about this,
Some states have it: Oregon, Washington and or course the Swiss.

NO DIRECTION ELECTION Apr 26th,2011
Our politicians are getting worked up about this election,
Each party, left or right, has their own agenda selection,
But no binding referendums or death with dignity here,
You see these are forbidden, silent issues that each party fears.
When the time comes to die and it will for both you and me,
Sometime in our futures and it’s not all that difficult to foresee,
The clock is ticking and eventually we will, all be dead,
Our politicians don’t notice this and still think they’re ahead.
For some strange reason, death with dignity is totally banned,
The appointed Supreme Court refused Sue Rodriquez’s demand,
No wonder so many Canadians refuse to even vote,
Where the abortion clinics are busy with death that they promote.

Our country was founded on a distrust of government. Our founding fathers gave power to the people to keep an eye on government. So when politicians say, Trust me, they're actually being very un-American.

Australian Federal Election 2001
All I see are two ageing power hungry men squabbling for the lion's share
And who will win Howard or Beazley? don't ask me I don't care
The Labor party and the Coalition seem very much the same to me
As neither of them have once promised for to combat poverty.
For the growing scourge of poverty they don't offer any cure
But then suppose not many votes in the favouring of the poor
And not many of the Homeless vote when it comes to polling day
But who could blame them for their apathy when they must live in such a way.
When I hear talk of budget surpluses by the major party politicians I feel cause for concern
For who will keep the budget in the black ought not be hard to discern
It's the working poor and the very poor who always suffer the most
And because of neglect for them the Government of their budget surplus boast.
Who will win the Federal Election that won't be worrying me
For whoever forms Government won't be combating poverty
They squabble for the lion's share and seek their own renown
And they only Govern for those at the top end of the Town.

Pearl, Merle And Earl And Politics
Pearl, a republican, finds it hard to change.
Merle, a democrat, as usual thinks Pearl is strange.
Earl, is independent minded and politically on the fence.
Pearl whines, “When I hear the liberal crowd, they’re just too loud.”
Merle snaps back, “Pearl, that’s no reason.
Would you vote for Mickey Mouse if he were quiet for a season? ”
Earl joins in, “I’d vote either way for anyone who didn’t say
Something stupid for a day.”
Pearl laments, “I’m worried about where our country’s going.”
Merle agrees, “All politicians argue while our problems keep growing.”
Earl declares, “We, the people, will demonstrate,
Until our government really starts to improve our fate.”
These senior members differ on many issues, but they’re closely bound…
In the belief that “It’s government for the people, not the other way around.”

Assisted Suicide
Why is death with dignity seldom mentioned in our land?
Is the mere mention of assisted suicide illegal and banned?
In Oregon, Washington and Switzerland; it’s already there,
So Canadian media or politicians should not scare.
Why is this one human right denied with all government might?
Though they have abortion clinics killing babies day and night,
And a federal or provincial election almost every year,
The subject of death with dignity is avoided with great fear.
It seems as though our politicians never think that they will die,
Is this stupidity or policy where they demand we comply,
And like binding referendums, it will never be discussed,
As they look at us, mere mortals, as though with complete disgust.

Australia's Federal Election 2007
November the twenty fourth is Australia's Election day the campaign for power begin
The winners govern for three years the prize is great to win
They have in them the lust for power they campaign for their own sake
The winners set to govern big egos are at stake.
Who wins or loses Government I can't say I much care
Since from the Election I don't stand to lose or gain of that much I'm aware
Big time politics can be a dirty game and smear politics is an in thing
On their opponents they rake the muck and their own praises they do sing.
Three right wing parties competing for power will not help those in poverty
A Nation without a Socialist Party seems a sad Nation to me
In a so called first World Country in big Cities homeless people on the street
Sleeping rough and searching rubbish bins for thrown out food to eat.
November the twenty fourth is Federal Election voting day and the days of cleanly fought campaigns is long gone
Twenty first century politics is a dirty game and the grab for power is on
The gap between the haves and the have nots is getting wider by the day
And whoever wins will not help the have nots and that seems sad to say.

Sue Rodriguez Forgotten Case Nov 3rd,2012
Sue Rodriguez Forgotten Case Nov 3rd,2012
By
James Bredin
The Sue Rodriguez case, seems to have been long forgotten,
Media moguls and politicians seem to think it was rotten,
She tried to get death with dignity but they refused,
Though appointed judges and politicians did not seem amused.
Because we the people are not allowed government control,
Few set-date elections, referendums or plebiscites on the whole,
No Senate or compulsory votes where death with dignity is banned,
Various religions and bought-politicians think this is grand.
The States of Oregon and Washington have had it for years,
People go to Switzerland to die and avoid the pain and tears,
While Ottawa politicians and aristocrats hide out up there,
Busy avoiding death with dignity and maybe saying a prayer.
