Belov'd Dad
He lived an honest life always
And passed in poverty, his days;
He spoke for justice with brave face;
To God, he fixed his heart's, mind's gaze!
He lived a simple life on earth
And stood for all that was good, worth;
He knew the reasons for his birth
And did his duty with great mirth!
He left a void that couldn't be filled
And walked the path that was God-willed!

Raised Up By God
Friend, I was raised up by God, to walk with Him upon earth’s sod,
He raised me up from the dust, when He breathed life into all of us.
But, because of man’s sinful fall, I did not walk with The Lord at all,
I simply went about my sinful way, living only for myself day to day.
Although I did not walk with Him, He came to save me from my sin,
While upon that cross at Calvary, where Christ died for you and me.
That sin that lead my heart astray, had taken me down a darker way,
But it was God’s love, not His wrath, that lead me to a brighter path.
I simply lived a life of emptiness, as I lived in my own righteousness,
A life far removed from God above, and void of His Grace and Love.
And it took me to an empty plight, all shaded by the darkened night,
But He put me on a path that’s right, one filled with my Savior’s Light.
God then raised me up to New Life, one that is found in Jesus Christ,
The Lord, who had truly died for me, has now given me Life Eternally.
Christ who raised me from the dust, is the One in whom I put my trust,
And through the power of New Birth, will soon raise me from the earth.
I shall be raised by Christ my Lord, to then live with God forevermore,
Until then, God fills these earthly days, with His Power and His Praise,
To lead others on earth to new life, through the Power of Jesus Christ,
And when together we are raised, in Glory God will be forever praised.
A Good Old Man
"Children, you will soon lay me in the ground. Then you are to be cheerful, and drink some of this wine; for I have lived a joyful life before God all my days." (Life of Ernst Maurice Arndt. London. 1879. P. 38.)
The old man sate beside the fire,
His years fourscore and two,
His locks were thin and wintry-white,
But his eyes were bright and blue.
His children's children round him stood,
His face with joy did shine;
And he called for a glass, and placed on board
A pint of the ruby wine.
And he said, "Now list to me, brave boys:
I've lived a life, thank God!
Full of bright hours and happy days,
And soon beneath the sod
"Your hands must lay my head. This glass
I fill with thanks to Him
Who made my cup through fourscore years
With joy to overbrim.
"There might be clouds; but they have passed;
For this I surely knew,
Behind the clouds there dwelt a sun
And a dome of glorious blue.
"There might be frets; but not with me
Might fret and murmur dwell;
For God, I knew, was judge of all,
And still he judgeth well.
"Then fill the sparkling glass, brave boys,
And quaff the wine with me
His gift whence flows to men all light
And love and liberty!
"And keep a stout heart in your breast,
And trust in God, brave boys;
And march right forward without fear,
And evermore rejoice.
"And when you lay my head, brave boys,
Beneath the cool green sod,
Remember how I walked in strength
And joy before my God."

A Tribute to Our Beloved Mom, ‘STELLA’
(On The Occasion of her Sad Demise …)
Our mom is not alive anymore, oh!
She’s gone to be with God forever, so;
She had a sudden exit from the earth;
Nevertheless, it was a peaceful, death.
Last time I met her, she looked quite healthy;
She was already aged more than ninety;
Her talk and attitude had us impressed;
But in her heart of hearts, she was distressed.
She’d thought, her time had come to say ‘Good-bye’;
She lived as if she was ready to die;
She had prepared for this for quite a while;
She lived in fear of God but fearless style.
Her life was exemplary from the start;
She loved to live but knew she must depart;
She lived a simple life through sheer God’s will;
She kept her cool and wasn’t seriously ill.
We thank Thee God for taking her away!
We thank Thee for keeping her till this day;
To us, she looked so great, almost a Fay;
Her love, we children can never repay!
She looked after herself until the last;
She knew the present, future and the past;
She lived in high spirits, never downcast;
She walked and wrote and spoke so very fast.
We wondered if she was a living saint!
She was a workaholic all her life;
She was so smart in everything she did;
She kept her sanity until the end.
All children loved her very much by heart;
A tower of strength and good advice, she stayed;
She kept so calm in face of trying times;
She prayed the Holy rosary always!
She was the link to all our relatives;
She was beloved in all family circles;
She worked from dawn till dusk, until mid-night;
She was up in the morning ’fore the rest.
Oh, what a fine mother and wife, she was!
Oh, what a nice grand-mother, sibling too!
She was some kind of living library;
She consoled anyone who sought her aid.
Her will-power surprised us very much;
Her words of kindness had a magic touch;
She spoke effortlessly and heard our woes;
She loved all friends, strangers and even foes!
We feel so happy; yet, we want to cry!
We feel so sad but ecstatic as well;
We know our mother no more lives with us;
The loss is irreparable and true!
She left the world on Tuesday, St.Antony’s day!
That was the name of dad, her husband too;
She was so brave until the very last;
Today the earth’s star ‘Stella’ is heavened!
She was a lamp so bright atop life’s hill;
She lived by Word of God and by God’s will;
She served as example to all around;
Her life was founded upon holy ground!
She loved to serve the Almighty always;
She loved her children, husband, all her days;
Her love for God was firm and steadfast too;
For sake of God, her duties, she would do!
She’ll guide her children from her newer place;
In death, she wore a holy, smiling face;
She’s now a blessing for the human race;
Amongst women, she showed she was an ‘ace’!
Fondly dedicated to (late) Mrs. Stella Antoniswamy, CBE
By all her children, grand-children and their spouses

Pro-life…
I thank my mother,
Who brought me forth
Into the world,
God made, so bold.
And my dear father,
For doing his worth,
To raise me up,
With love-filled cup.
I admire them
For such strong faith,
And duty-minds -
Both rare are finds.
I was their child eighth,
Of ten children!
God blessed them well;
Their work was swell.
But had they stopped with
Just one or two,
Like how some did:
Oh, God forbid!
What lovely parents
They turned to be,
And lived all life,
Despite much strife
If not for them both
What would I be?
-An abortus
Or dead fetus!
The love of Maker,
Good parents give
To children all,
When they are small
Such children bring them
Blessings from God,
And intense mirth,
Right here on earth.
I thank you parents;
I thank you God,
For gift of birth,
And lovely earth.
Just think of parents
Who do abort,
Against God’s will,
By their weak will.
Their life will be filled
With emptiness;
Their guilt and sins
Makes life non-sense.

Sorrow
I walked into the park and saw a young man sitting by a flower bed
I asked him why he looked so miserable and this is what he said,
“Sixty years ago I fell in love with a beautiful girl and now she has to die
I knew her time would come one day, but the years have just flashed by.
I knew that it was wrong to love her, but my heart ruled over my head.
I was there when she was born at home and I stood by her mother’s bed.
As the years passed I watched over her, and proposed when she was sixteen.
She was so young and beautiful then, and everyday we lived a dream.
She didn’t know that I was different and I just couldn’t bear to tell her so,
but she had suspicions as her hair greyed, and my age didn’t show.
And now my heart is breaking because I want to die and be with my wife,
without her my life isn’t worth living, and I no longer want this life.
For sixty years life has been wonderful for me and my only true love,
but soon I must take her up and leave her in the heavens above.
I don’t know how I’m going to take the woman I adore from my side.
I’m sorry for sharing my sorrow with you, ” and as he left he cried.

Sonnet: My Father
A man with ‘brains’ such, seldom have I seen!
A man sincere and honest to the core;
A man hard-working who had always been;
A man who helped but ill-will never bore.
A man so learned yet, did not have pride;
A man who feared the Lord and lived for Him;
A man so poor, no scooter did he drive;
A man who fought his life’s battles so grim.
A man who kept all thoughts of sin off mind;
A man who fought for social justice’s cause;
A man to principles good, he did bind;
A man who considered no man, his boss!
He lived a simple life for mankind’s cause;
Such was the kind of person, my dad was!

After I Knew
When I knew, I came to Him, led by God, not by my whim,
Led by The Spirit of God, and now by His Staff and Rod;
It is God’s Spirit, guiding me, on my path towards eternity,
Entering into my frame of dust, when in Him I put my trust.
I lived my life as I always had, believing I was far from bad,
Living on life’s straight path, never mindful of God’s Wrath,
And that I was basically good, as this is what I understood,
Until I met God’s Living Word, hearing Truth I’d never heard.
God had opened up my eyes, not a world, said to be wise,
Following the beliefs of men, I knew not, I was condemned,
And from God I was separated, not because me, He hated,
It was sin, passed on to me, from Adam’s fall, to humanity.
But, God didn’t leave us there, sending man, love and care,
To save this corrupted earth, providing man a spiritual birth;
God’s Sacrifice paid the cost, in redeeming all who are lost,
So although we’re sinful men, in His Son we are Born Again.
Seeing this, I then would know, to Christ’s Cross, I must go,
To accept what God did for me, to have New Life, Eternally,
This, religion taught me not, as pious words, leave out a lot,
Omitting much needed Truth, leading souls to face Reproof.

Back In Time
Last night; I went back in time
To see my wife if we never had met
I saw my ways, and my upcoming days
And my soul, was full of regret.
She wasn't there, but was in my prayer
As I surveyed the new life that I lived
And I walked alone, in my empty home
As my love for her I couldn't give.
I looked for her, and she couldn't be found
Last night when I went back in time,
So I searched her world, left nothing unfurled
But for her, nothing about her could I find.
So without me she took another path
Because then we had never met
But I stayed on that road, until I died old
Because no other woman in my heart would I let.
Then I had my thought when I awoke from my dream
And my woman she couldn't be found
So I closed my eyes and I sat down to cry
As my world was flipped upside down.
I remember now that she had left me
To be in the arms of another man
She was my love my life, my woman my wife
Now she's holding another mans heart and hand.
Why she left me; GOD will only know
But the love I felt once will never be mine,
I did nothing wrong, just loved her to strong,
Now again I wish, to go back in time.

I believe.
I believe that beauty lies within,
That life can still be lived it's not a sin,
That hearts though broken mend in different ways,
And tears still write the tune the piper plays.
I know that thoughts can make or break a mind,
And love is better seen than taken blind,
That feelings make the man as he grows old,
And secrets should remain just that, untold.
For duty that requires a soul of steel,
Can leave you void of all that life can deal,
So stand your ground be mindful of your task,
A life's not lived if it's behind a mask.

I Walked Last Night In A District I Lived In For Almost Twenty Years
I WALKED LAST NIGHT IN A DISTRICT I LIVED IN FOR ALMOST TWENTY YEARS
I walked last night in a district I lived in for almost twenty years
I came back after being away for a time
To visit an old and ailing friend
The streets were empty and lonely as they often were then-
I thought for the first time I understood how lonely the district itself is-
‘A lonely district’
I wondered how I managed to live there all those years
And how anyone still manages to live there-
I looked up at the sky and wrote in my mind a small poem of a kind I wrote many of in my years there
I remembered teachers and friends who had lived there
No longer of this district or any district on earth
I wondered how life goes and how from so many years so much life has been lived without having any place in my memory
I felt as empty inside as the district without
I did not have to wait long for the bus
And relieved inside it I put my heart to home
So many years had been lived there
I remembered taking my small children to the playground there
Now they thank G-d have children of their own
Oh the years go by and the life we have lived in them largely dies
Forever to be unknown again-
I put my heart and mind in a different direction
And began to do what I always do – not think of the district again
Life is this mystery and question we live through and never wholly possess even as we are experiencing it
How long before all will be gone for me
Including the district I live in now?

Awesome
The awesome tiger walked close by, without a single clue,
For I was hidden, safe and dry and there my wonder grew.
This spectacle that few have seen and lived to tell the tale,
Was so majestic, so serene, perhaps an alpha male...
He strode this Earth as though a king, as if to be obeyed...
As if some tribute I should bring, his wrath to be outweighed.
As if the champion of the chase, instead of random chance,
His every move exuded grace, as if life were a dance.
His stripes were like Venetian blinds, like slit slats on his fur.
Up close, they were like warning signs, my death could soon occur.
My body, like a statue, stayed, immobile, locked in time...
The deadliest game I ever played was awesome, quite sublime.
He was the cat, I was the mouse... existing side-by-side.
The aim, of course, was just to browse. My eyes browsed open wide!
His body passed beyond my gaze, his tail swished left and right...
And with that parting of our ways, my heart filled with delight...
It was as if Death knew my name, yet couldn't claim me then!
I know I'll never be the same! Halleluyah... and... Amen!
The poem is based on the magnificent painting
by Stephen Gayford called 'Awesome'.

A New Pilgrimage: Sonnet XXV
And what brave life it was we lived that tide,
Lived, or essayed to live--for who shall say
Youth garners aught but its own dreams denied,
Or handles what it hoped for yesterday?
High prophets were we of the uncultured lay,
Supremely scorning all that to our pride
Seemed less than truth. Be truth the thing it may,
Our Goddess she, deformed but deified.
Prophets and poets of the Earth's last birth
Revealed in ugliness, a blind despair,
Only that we were young and of such worth
As still can thrive upon life's leanest fare,
And find in the world's turmoil its full quittance
Of joy denied, however poor the pittance.

Last Days In My Life
(3/7/12)
There were days in my life that I recall
When there was no hope left - no hope at all.
Then my thoughts wandered to CHRIST
And I felt that I was in paradise.
SAINT PETER was there to meet me at
Those pearly gates
And I knew I was there because I never lost faith
there were angels on both sides that lined
The path to his throne.
My family and friends were there, so I wasn't alone.
The choir of angels singing all in tune
And I knew my life didn't end too soon.
The path was filled with the brightest of lights
My oh my such a beautiful sight.
And the trumpets blared with the most beautiful sound
As the angels all gathered around.
I walked up the path as if I was floating on air
Because I left behind any worries and cares.
Although I felt a slight pain in my heart
Because I had left so many behind
But I knew that they would be fine.
The transition from being a mortal man
To being a guiding light, had made
My heart jump as it took to flight.
I could now help others more than ever before
For my lord had opened those doors.
Our souls become like lightning bugs that light up the sky
That's what we become you and I.
We light up the path for all others to see
As we greet friends and family.© L.Rams

light-Mystery
The light
Came closer
Walked right
Next to me
I walked with it
Sometimes,
Sometimes it
Walked with me
Into my life
Where I walked not
With it
And made me be
What I was not.
The light it entered in
And lived inside of me
I lived in it,
Sometimes,
Sometimes it
lived in me
When I lived not in it
And made me be
When I was not
I hold the light sometimes,
Sometimes the light holds me.
Until I am the light
I live in mystery.

Relax, Be Cool, My Dearest Brother!
You studied well
Throughout in school
And got your Diploma;
But duty first
Became your aim:
A job you had to join.
You went to work
When just a teen,
To help the family;
You labored hard
And earned degrees
In Evening-Colleges;
You ate mess-food
And shared a room
And sacrificed a lot;
You struggled much
’midst rivalry
And inched your life’s way up;
You prayed and sang
All night and day
And fought your temptations;
You wrote sad songs
And played guitar,
To vent your emotions;
You led a life
Exemplary
And walked in daddy’s path;
You suffered pangs
Of hunger, sex
Obeying parents/ Lord;
You walked to work
And back to home
To save a few rupees;
You helped others
Advising them,
Expecting no rewards;
You lived a life
Good-principled
Honest and just, righteous;
You washed your clothes
And ironed them
And marched so spick and span;
You polished shoes
With onions
And made them shine so much;
Your brassoed belt
And feathered-hat
Gave you a stately look;
Your days passed off
Away from home,
Away from family;
The years rolled by
With late marriage,
But God gave you a child.
You could not reach
The dizzy heights
In life or ev’n in dreams;
You could not use
Your talents great,
But led a humble life.
When now retired
Your problems irk
And threaten you ghost-like;
You shouldn’t give in
Or feel depressed
Or hopeless anytime;
The things you did
Were achievements,
Not all can ev’r perform;
Past successes
Should goad you forth
And make your future bright;
The God who stood
Always with you
Will guide you through travail;
Your days ahead
Will turn out well
Though problems could still come;
Remain cheerful
My brother dear,
You did so well till date;
Ignore the thoughts/
Fears, unreal:
Have trust in Jesus Christ;
The Holy Cross
Has borne our strife
And sins of all mankind;
No devils can
Ruin our soul
Or make our life wretched;
So, keep your calm
And forge ahead:
Miracles will happen;
The grace of God
Will usher peace
Of body, mind and soul.

My Heart Stood Still
I laughed at sweethearts
I met at schools
All indiscreet hearts
Seemed romantic fools
A house in Iceland
Was my heart's domain
I saw your eyes
Now castles rise in Spain!
I took one look at you
That's all I meant to do
And then my heart stood still
My feet could step and walk
My lips could move and talk
And yet my heart stood still
Though not a single word was spoken
I could tell you knew
That unfelt clasp of hands
Told me so well you knew
I never lived at all
Until the thrill of that moment when
My heart stood still
Though not a single word was spoken
I could tell you knew
That unfelt clasp of hands
Told me so well you knew
I never lived at all
Until the thrill of that moment when
My heart stood still
All that moment when
My heart stood still
My heart stood still
My heart stood still

Life Alone
How does one justify a life lived alone
How does one love if they have never been shown
A life lived alone is a life lived in vain
A life lived alone has very little to gain
Why would anyone choose to live this way
Why would anyone choose to be alone everyday
Is it living alone a shy reality to blame
Is it living alone yet another of societys shame
I stand here alone with a tear in my eye
I stand here alone and wish to understand why.

But a family life is filled with memories to treasure

I've Lived My Life
I've lived my life and I'm only eighteen
I left the country for the city thought I was smart but I was silly
I should have known I'd get in trouble being so green
I've lived my life and I'm only eighteen
I met a boy and learned to love him I would have done anything for him
I've loved him more than anything I've ever seen
I've lived my life and I'm only eighteen
Only eighteen but it's all over I ruined my life to please my lover
I made him happy he made me cry then said goodbye
I've lived my life and I'm only eighteen
Only eighteen but it's all over...
I've lived my life and I'm only eighteen

Ozzie Ona the Gentleman
There is a giving gentleman I just met,
he bought me a cheese omlet for breakfast.
At the Pelican in Lake Worth,
he is very friendly and down to Earth.
He was born in the valley of Quito,
it's in Ecuador I thought you should know.
His teeth are really shiny bright white,
he ate great vegetable giving him strong bones
and muscles filled with strength and mite.
He is quite an adventurer who has traveled a lot,
he's lived in California and in North Carolina he has a spot.
Yes, in North Carolina he has a German chalet,
in the mountains where the sky is clear not grey.
He also lived in New Jersey as a graphic designer,
he says his life is blessed, it couldn't be finer.
He's semi retired and lives with his Italian wife,
in a quite ocean town and has a great life.
He rides on his red scooter all over town,
that is where you can see him with a smile not a frown.
He says I look like a princess with pretty green eyes,
He says I look like royalty in disguise.
We both agree we were in a past life,
maybe two dolphins swimming having a great time.

What If
What if there were no heaven or hell
And the life we lived, no story to tell
What if hell was this time we had on earth
And it were to last just from dying to birth
What if heaven began when all pain stopped
And it was the end when all life dropped
The pure in heart would in harmony at the end
The evil in heart, would never have to bend
Life has been so kind to many and cruel to more
Some have had rainbows while others washed ashore
The hurricanes in life and sun shiny days
Have gotten mixed up, who knows who goes or stays
It's nice to think about the wonderful place up yonder
But just what if? Some of us will always ponder
Be kind to all man and show love till the last
You'll never know till the end, when we've all passed!
