Pyramid

an alien tower
left by arcane builders

who command visceral gods
must first be mastered.

seven slow steps
to peak at crown,

steel spine
ascended,

illumination all around,
levity too,

but contraction
of human

gravity too great
quick descent

on spiral vortex
soon impels

Gates Of Steel

Twist away the gates of steel
Unlock the secret voice
Give in to ancient noise
Take a chance a brand new dance
Twist away the gates of steel
Twist away
Now twist and shout
The earth it moves too slow
But the earth is all we know
We pay to play the human way
Twist away the gates of steel
A man is real
Not made of steel
But the earth is all we know
We pay to play the human way
Twist away the gates of steel
The beginning was the end
Of everything now
The ape regards his tail
Hes stuck on it
Repeats until he fails
Half a goon and half a god
A mans not made of steel
Twist away
Now twist and shout
The earth it moves too slow
But the earth is all we know
We pay to play the human way
Twist away the gates of steel
A man is real thats how he feels

The Adventurer of God

They are solid steel, the rocks are built by gods,
Mountains and volcanoes are one, by gods.

Yet we see the lava flow and the abolishment,
To address them is to arrive at and abandon, by gods.

Any geographical feature on the map carries fascination,
One is adventured, one is fine with distortion, by gods.

The map is a remedy for the plain and ill, the happier,
Yellow streams and wooden forests are a distinction, by gods.

Let us laugh and be merry on this whole globe,
Let godliness reign supreme with this incantation, by gods.

The gods are lovable towards their kingdom,
The wishes of the valley are mine in slow-motion, by the gods.

^^Passionate tango^^

Unforgettable moments
Sensations and thrills
Seduction,
Passion,
Jealousy,
Domination
And possession
Mesmerizing the music
Synchronizing the steps
Illusion and reality
Seamlessly into a flowing
The man mirroring
And opposing the female steps
On time - tiempo
Slow - half tiempo
Sultry, passionate and elegant,
Sometimes
Dramatic and intense
Entering the visceral
Non-intellectual experience
Of the body
Where there are no words.

Within Minster Grounds I Tremble

A thousand dreams are lost it seems as petals in descent
Falling to the ground in forgetting of a world chasing golden chariots across an azure sky

To wonder why
To cry
To sigh
And to try for something greater
These are the things the shake our souls
And make us equal with our maker.

Within Minster grounds I tremble
Seeking a knowledge of myself
So that I alone may reassemble
All that I’ve left lost along my way.

Fairies gather here, leading young girls astray from the dance
They are the brides of slow decay, Pretty maids, lifeless dolls,
Parading cold stares, adorning themselves in the feathers of
Innocence when a look within the eye leaves trembling the lover of love.
The Willow Man is playing the pipes of midnight melody
Hecate, great mother, maiden, crone, grant me the power to rise
Grant me the power to stare into the eyes of my gods, my prophecy, my story fulfilled.

The moon is quilted by blanket clouds, they are gathering,
Soft and slow, small worlds they are gathering, and the
Boundaries between plains are shifting. The crossroad awaits,
There we are to choose, do we loose ourselves in dreams?
Or do we make real all that we feel we could?

The ashtray is overflowing, my bottles empty
My mind aflame with ideas arcane
Here within my shanty.

Still I sit and stare
And make as though I was never there
Here within my shanty
Playing with my hair.

Alternative Song For The Severd head In "The King Of The Great Clock Tower"

SADDLE and ride, I heard a man say,
Out of Ben Bulben and Knocknarea,
i{What says the Clock in the Great Clock Tower?}
All those tragic characters ride
But turn from Rosses' crawling tide,
The meet's upon the mountain-side.
i{A slow low note and an iron bell.}
What brought them there so far from their home.
Cuchulain that fought night long with the foam,
i{What says the Clock in the Great Clock Tower?}
Niamh that rode on it; lad and lass
That sat so still and played at the chess?
What but heroic wantonness?
i{A slow low note and an iron bell.}
Aleel, his Countess; Hanrahan
That seemed but a wild wenching man;
i{What says the Clock in the Great Clock Tower?}
And all alone comes riding there
The King that could make his people stare,
Because he had feathers instead of hair.
i{A slow low note and an iron bell.}

Who can weigh love?

Light. Lightness. Light-heartedness.
Who can measure their measureless weight?

On the kitchen scales, we balance
weight against weight; but how different
the substances - on the one scale,
iron weights with their iron discipline
maintain like monks and nuns their constancy;

on the other scale, perhaps fine flour,
poured as bakers recommend, from a height
to catch the air between the grains; a foretaste
of that greater levity that yeast will bring;

Lorenzo de’ Medici, praising publicly his tutor,
Marsilio Ficino, said of him, that one thing in him which he loved
was that in his speech, gravity was mixed with levity,
and levity, with gravity;

what then, of our substance? In the lightness
of our being, then how bright the light! And in
the dark and heavy days, what lightness of the light may lurk
in melancholia – a yeast of wisdom yet to act?

And then – there’s love…its golden weightiness
so full of light; and hammered out and spread,
the brighter then…oh, who can measure out
the lightness, brightness, of our joy? What golden scales
of justice, mercy, grace,
may weigh the shining of a shining face?

Battling The Builders

I have to admit that the Great Crested Newt
Is not that good looking and isn't too cute.
But when plans were unveiled for hundreds of homes
To be built on land where the said newts roamed,
Many local residents protested ‘This isn't right! '
And, against the builders, they began a long fight.

The newts lived in a meadow, next to a big pond:
To relocate them all, would have been so wrong.
Pound signs were what the builders were seeing,
But the Planning Committee considered the newts' well-being;
Of destroying the newts' habitat, they weren't big fans,
And so they rejected the building firm's plans.

The Great Crested Newts may be fairly small,
But they battled the builders, who towered so tall.
The newts and local residents won the day,
And they sent the team of builders on their way.
Now the threat of relocation is over and gone,
With their lives, the Great Crested Newts can carry on.

Fast Fandango

Exercise, both the love and
scourge of my life, in foolish
bravado I ascended the million
steps to the Union Buildings -
nearly choked to death in the
attempt to defy gravity by
marching smartly

In the end I struggled up at
a sedate rate gasping for air,
all visions of glory gone, once
at the top I saw all the lunch-
time joggers clutching water
bottles passing, I took the
descending road

This time gravity made me
dance a fast fandango down
into the city - I think exercise
should be kept for going to the
library, the Union Buildings with
its army of slim and trim joggers
is not my scene

I only want to be fit enough
to read my book without
falling over with fatigue...

Piles Of Half-shells

while watching and we all have
and all will
why do most deny it.
weather it is this or that.
climbing trees untill the
very tops
even if the vines
around it
take you out of your way
you feel it in the tree
right before.
even if the first few climbs
result in
and or catch you off guard.
tree or vine symbiotic
host or hostess
one or the other as the
fingers clutch
at each nook and cranny.
some times forcing an early
retirement.
and then some one, any one
perhaps even myself
seeing
the tightness
right over head we move up
towards it
as it opens and closes, back
and forth up and down.
open at the juncture of the half
shell
one appreciates,
the gravity of technique needed
to split them apart.
where equal and opposite each
contraction
makes gravity work for you
instead of against you.
and generally it doesn't take to long
for a pile of half-shells
to accumulate at the bottom
of each tree.
it is a simple matter of repacking
each parachute
that in their hast to retreat
left no room for discourse
and consequently
left a little pink around the rear.

An Hymn to Humanity

I.

Lo! for this dark terrestrial ball
Forsakes his azure-paved hall
A prince of heav'nly birth!
Divine Humanity behold,
What wonders rise, what charms unfold
At his descent to earth!

II.

The bosoms of the great and good
With wonder and delight he view'd,
And fix'd his empire there:
Him, close compressing to his breast,
The sire of gods and men address'd,
"My son, my heav'nly fair!

III.

"Descend to earth, there place thy throne;
"To succour man's afflicted son
"Each human heart inspire:
"To act in bounties unconfin'd
"Enlarge the close contracted mind,
"And fill it with thy fire."

IV.

Quick as the word, with swift career
He wings his course from star to star,
And leaves the bright abode.
The Virtue did his charms impart;
Their G-----! then thy raptur'd heart
Perceiv'd the rushing God:

V.

For when thy pitying eye did see
The languid muse in low degree,
Then, then at thy desire
Descended the celestial nine;
O'er me methought they deign'd to shine,
And deign'd to string my lyre.

VI.

Can Afric's muse forgetful prove?
Or can such friendship fail to move
A tender human heart?
Immortal Friendship laurel-crown'd
The smiling Graces all surround
With ev'ry heav'nly Art.

Under sights

A terrorist was on top of
the tall white water tower
of the military camp
poisoning the drinking water,
or so we thought.

I was on guard as a roaming picket
and the radio cracked
and told me
to get the enemy
on top of the water tower
under sights.

Just more than a section
of other troops on guard
gathered with me
and we spread out
and circled the tower
and hit cover where we could.

For a moment the dark figure
look ominous where he stood
next to the steel ladder
in the darkness of that moonless night.

We were ready to shoot
and were instructed to wait,
just before a spotlight
almost made him jump
over the edge.

There was no terrorist
that looked down at us,
just a military cook
trying to take his own life.

One troop said
“lets help him
and get it over with”
and I could almost
feel him pull the trigger
but like steel my voice said
“stand down”
and a military psychiatrist
got him calm
while troops climbed the tower
and lowered him on a rope
and I wonder to this day
what left that soldier
totally out of hope?

Skeleton's

This house holds no secrets
Its tattle-tale bones
Rattle
A visage of truth
Nimble webbed echo's
Stair steps spiral
Ascent or descent
Access rooms
Each a memory
Unto themselves
Covered in dust
Engraved
Etched in stone
Over years of lore
Ah the rumors groan
The roof-indelible
Editor's pen blue
Is attached to a
Foundation
With a century's entire
Legacy's view

The Titanic

Forth flashed the serpent streak of steel,
Consummate crown of man's device;
Down crashed upon an immobile
And brainless barrier of ice.
Courage!
The grey gods shoot a laughing lip: -
Let not faith founder with the ship!

We reel before the blows of fate;
Our stout souls stagger at the shock.
Oh! there is Something ultimate
Fixed faster than the living rock.
Courage!
Catastrophe beyond belief
Harden our hearts to fear and grief!

The gods upon the Titans shower
Their high intolerable scorn;
But no god knoweth in what hour
A new Prometheus may be born.
Courage!
Man to his doom goes driving down;
A crown of thorns is still a crown!

No power of nature shall withstand
At last the spirit of mankind:
It is not built upon the sand;
It is not wastrel to the wind.
Courage!
Disaster and destruction tend
To taller triumph in the end.

Who trains Who? for friend Bob

My human thinks he’s training me.
A fault that’s common to the breed
Though he is learning gradually
So I pretend to let him lead.

It is great fun to see him try
to understand each new command
Although sometimes I wonder why
he is so slow to understand.

I haven’t had him very long
I must remember he’s a man
To try and rush him would be wrong.
I ‘m sure he does the best he can.

I take him for a walk each day
make sure he gets his exercise
I need to teach him not to stray.
He doesn’t seem to realise.

That I’m in charge he’s rather slow
but then of course he’s just a man
You can’t expect a man to know
as much as any canine can.

Steel Tormentor

(m - weikath, l - deris)
Headles
Pulling the machine down
Coming to the low sound
Feeling like a real man
Racing
Flashing fom down under
Flesh and blood and thunder
Trembling wheel in cold hand
Faster, much faster-
Wot a human speed disaster
Deeper, much deeper
On thru the void I caster
Im a steel tormentor
And I speed round evry curve
Im a mean inperator
Of my intimate machine
Turkey
Near to devastation
Losing all my patience
Cannot make this kit fly
Danger
Muscular contraction
Out for satisfaction
Mere intoxication
Nightride, its nightride now-
Try to catch my tail lights
So sad, Im so sad
But you wont ever suck my steel bride
Im a steel tormentor
And I speed round evry curve
Im a mean inperator
Of my intimate machine

Man still is just man

When man mastered
the horse and chariot,
and later build cars
to drive over the earth
it made him no god
over it
and still he lacked
the knowledge
of how to make
out of nothing and a void
sand, pebbles and rock.

When man felled a tree
and build a boat
to float on the river
and the sea
and later constructed ships
and submarines
and mastered the art of sailing
he still was just man
and storms, huge waves
and water could still kill him.

When man mastered the art
of flying by machines
and could travel in the sky,
planes could still dropp and crash
and man was still bound
by the laws of nature.

When man mastered fire, steam, fuel,
electricity and nuclear power
and could harness it
at his choice
and reached into space,
he still stayed human
and a spec in the universe.
