Intermission
Warm, wet, wrapped
in each other's
arms, legs,
still for a moment,
we rest,
a spider spent,
trapped in its web.

Sonnet: For a Spider
O spider, thou with legs so hairy
So innocent, ugly-cute and scary
As I ponder wonderingly
What you would have lived to see
But your life, cut short with tragic blow
Far from your sun’s warm native glow
In Sweden, trapped from tropic skies
Finding comfort in a shower, ‘til your demise
Smashed body streaking down the wall
No longer soft round fuzzy ball
Legs furry stuck to wall and book
Out of respect for the dead, I did not look
Closer at the slimy goo
Instead this sonnet I write for you.

I Wish
I wake up in the morning feeling happy,
You are laying next to me,
Your arms passionately wrapped around me,
My lips seeking for your tender kiss.
Your eyes and mine were connected,
In a magical and mysterious way,
My whole world is yours and you know it,
I am happy to be with you.
I wish i could rest in your arms,
I wish you could hold my hand,
And feel my heart next to yours,
I'll always be there for u my love.
What is this magic that connect us?
I can't describe it, no words would be enough,
If there existed a magic moment to live in this life,
I wish that i could share that moment with you.

I'm Coming To Get You
Take a good look at me
Do you like what you see
Am I mystery
Or do you remember me
I've come to win the game
I've come to make my claim
You'll take me home again
You're gonna remember me
You held me in your arms
You kept me safe and warm
You wrapped me up in charm
Then we said goodbye
Now I'm coming to get you
And you'd better believe me when I Say that
I'm not gonna let you go
'Cos the moment that we met I knew that that was that boy
From my point of view
I still imagine you
So fresh, so totally cool
I've got a good memory me
I can't forget that smile
You and your sense of style
I've traveled miles and miles
So you're gonna remember me
Oh you could say we failed
A hiccup in our tale
But that ship never sailed
When we said goodbye
So I'm coming to get you
And you'd better believe me when I Say that
I'm not gonna let you go
'Cos the moment that we met I knew that that was that boy
So hold me in your arms
and keep me safe and warm
Just wrap me up in charm
Never say goodbye
'Cos I'm coming to get you
And you'd better believe me when I Say that
I'm not gonna let you go
'Cos the moment that we met I knew that that was that boy

Spiderman
Spider man, spider man
Does whatever a spider can
Spins a web any size
Catches thieves just like flies
Look out!
There comes the spider man
Is he strong?
Listen, bud
Hes got radioactive blood
Can he swing from a thread?
Take a look overhead
Hey, there!
There goes the spider man
In the chill of the night
At the scene of a crime
Like a streak of light
He arrives just in time
Spider man, spider man
Friendly neighborhood spider man
Wealth and fame
Hes ignorant
Action is his reward
Look out!
Here comes the spider man
To him, lifes a big bang up
Whenever theres a hang up
Youll find the spider man.

Boris The Spider
Look, hes crawling up my wall
Black and hairy, very small
Now hes up above my head
Hanging by a little thread
Boris the spider
Boris the spider
Now hes dropped on to the floor
Heading for the bedroom door
Maybe hes as scared as me
Wheres he gone now, I cant see
Boris the spider
Boris the spider
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
There he is wrapped in a ball
Doesnt seem to move at all
Perhaps hes dead, Ill just make sure
Pick this book up off the floor
Boris the spider
Boris the spider
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Hes come to a sticky end
Dont think he will ever mend
Never more will he crawl round
Hes embedded in the ground

With All my Love From Buffalo...Her Rebuttal
on our wedding night
I buried myself into
your arms
you buried yourself
into mine
indifferent
to you now:
like the winds that blow
off Erie that form
the storms
that buries Buffalo
in the shroud
of winter
no Christmas
in Buffalo:
no warm feelings for the tide
we harden our hearts here
we carve them into grave markers
we fake our grief
our love is lost in the solstice.
when you buried the bullet
into your head because you wouldn't
bear the indifference of my love
it reflected our wedding night
or a winter storm
beautiful, but nothing I wanted to be
in the middle of.
my tears are only icicles
they reflected the church lights
nothing more.
so again, my dear, my fool
nothing lost, nothing spent.
hearts don't break in Buffalo
the streets that crack
when the permafrost leaks
between winter and winter
we patch with more rock
so as you are wrapped tight
in the arms of death or hell
think of me content to be wrapped
in another man's arms
you in your eternity
me here in mine

The Spider
'OH, look at that great ugly spider!' said Ann;
And screaming, she brush'd it away with her fan;
''Tis a frightful black creature as ever can be,
I wish that it would not come crawling on me. '
'Indeed,' said her mother, 'I'll venture to say,
The poor thing will try to keep out of your way;
For after the fright, and the fall, and the pain,
It has much more occasion than you to complain.
'But why should you dread the poor insect, my dear?
If it hurt you, there'd be some excuse for your fear;
But its little black legs, as it hurried away,
Did but tickle your arm, as they went, I dare say.
'For them to fear us we must grant to be just,
Who in less than a moment can tread them to dust;
But certainly we have no cause for alarm;
For, were they to try, they could do us no harm.
'Now look! it has got to its home; do you see
What a delicate web it has spun in the tree?
Why here, my dear Ann, is a lesson for you:
Come learn from this spider what patience can do!
'And when at your business you're tempted to play,
Recollect what you see in this insect to-day,
Or else, to your shame, it may seem to be true,
That a poor little spider is wiser than you. '

Love, Salvation, And Goats!
she said...
'i still love you as a person,
but not as a man...'
he was silent for a long moment...
and then answered,
'when we go off to war,
do we cut the arms off our enemies,
and leave the legs?
do we cut the legs off,
and leave the arms?
do we pluck out one of their eyes,
and cut off one of their testicles?
do we rip out their tongues,
and demand that they speak? '
she shook her head, crying softly...
'then, declare war on me! '
he walked out, slamming the door,
to sleep with the goats.
while she knelt under a bare lightbulb...
praying for the salvation of his soul!

Sexy Ida (Part I)
Don't give your love to sexy Ida
'Cause she's the sister of a black widow spider
Don't try your love on sexy Ida
You might as well try it with some spider
She's got this long black hair, it's a hangin' on down her back
Long black pretty legs and she walks just like a cat
Hypnotic eyes and a stacked up love sack
She not only wants your love
She wants your life after that...don't do it
Don't give your love to sexy Ida
'Cause she's the sister of a black widow spider
Said you better not try it
Don't try your love on sexy Ida
You might as well try it with some spider
She's got a king sized bed with satin sheets of love
And you'll never wanna leave, no
The web of love she weaves...but I'll tell you
Don't give your love to sexy Ida
'Cause she's the sister of a black widow spider
You better not try it
Don't try your love on sexy Ida
You might as well try it with some spider
You gotta beware of sexy Ida
'Cause she tries to look so sweet and kind
But her looks can be deceivin'
'Cause her love is like strychnine
So don't give your love now
So don't give your love to sexy Ida
'Cause she's the sister of a black widow spider
Better not give your love to Ida
Don't try your love on sex Ida
You might as well try it with some spider
No, don't you give your love
Don't give your love to sexy Ida
'Cause she's the sister of a black widow spider...

Something From the Woman I Left Behind
1978,
the seventh anniversary of our marriage
we spent the night in a van,
on top of Brasstown Bald mountain.
He slipped a pistol under the mattress
and said we would be safe
from robbers.
Vandals wear many disguises
and the violated learns, eventually,
to recognize the mask.
2 a.m.,
wrapped in my own arms,
the scent of his whiskey on my neck,
bruises on bare trembling legs;
I stood naked before the moon.
In cold October air,
had to find my way back
to me.

It Was a Spider
With many legs and many acts,
But finally it was a spider!
OH yes, a spider is what you are because of your acts among us;
For you've persecuted many in the name of falsehood to gain your wealth;
But, the end comes and you will be judged.

White Spyder
wander slow
and your kisses chase
what must I do
if only for your warm embrace
for all maintain
must you conquer pain
and every little spider that crawled up inside her
is waiting for my phone call
and now I remind her
of every single liar
living for the killing stone
white spider
will you crawl
white spider
the end has past

Only That Which Gets Trapped
A spider weaving a web,
Isn't doing it without a purpose.
Only that which gets trapped in it,
Suddenly becomes conscious...
With an abundance of awareness,
Of being trapped after the fact.
And...
Regardless of one's faith and depth,
Professed.
Who would hold a venomous snake by its tail?
To prove what?
A stupidity is involved to prove it there,
And existing?

Spider-Man's Super Secret!
Now I'm in love what should I do,
Admit I'm Spider-Man?
Say I'm the guy in red and blue
And hope that she's a fan?
Or send boxed flowers wrapped in web,
No strings attached at all?
Or boast that I'm a great celeb
With wise-cracks that enthral?
Although it's cool to fly about,
My mask keeps me at bay...
And though my heart's so full of doubt,
I hope my feelings stay!
I see her smile, the world stands still...
She speaks and I go numb...
As if she stole my mind, my will
And I'm under her thumb!
I've got the strength of twenty men
Yet love makes me go weak!
Its power grows beyond my ken!
What makes her so unique?
To me, she is the only girl...
No other means so much!
I'm in her web! My heart's awhirl!
Love's so darned hard to budge!
To all the world I'm quite a catch -
All brave in red and blue...
Though Spider-Man is hard to match,
Should I say, 'I LOVE YOU! '?
If so, when is the moment right?
There's no escape from crime!
Love hurts just like a spider's bite!
Time after time after time...

Forever Mine
The room is dark, all alone am I.
Sitting here thinking of times gone by.
Remembering the past, the way things were.
A different time, when so much was unsure.
During these times, you came to my life.
Bringing happiness and laughter and love into sight.
Never such a feeling had I felt before.
Every moment spent with you, just left me wanting more.
More glances and stares, from your eyes so bright.
Eyes that see deep in my soul, making everything alright.
Wanting more kisses, from your soft lips so sweet.
Lips that make my legs weak and my heart skip a beat.
Wanting more time spent in your loving embrace.
Arms so strong and gentle, such a safe, loving place.
Wanting your warm touch, as you caress all of me.
Such a sensual feeling, setting my body so free.
Here we are, so many years more.
Not much has changed, I just want you even more.
Not a day goes by that I don't give thanks for you.
Every morning I think that our love is like new.
A new beginning. A fresh new start.
A new day to tell you what's deep in my heart.
You've made me feel loved, wanted and adored.
No one could possibly ever love me more.
And now here we are, loving each other from a far.
Waiting for the day, to awake in your arms.
To look upon your face, and deep in your eyes.
Knowing we'll never have to say our good byes.
Until that day comes just know this is true,
Everything I have to give, I have given to you.
I give you my heart, soul, body and mind.
And dream of the day you'll forever be mine.

Night Worker
A spider spun his web all night
and waited patiently.
A fly had circled all the morn
and buzzed there cautiously.
The spider watched and stayed so still.
No movement did he make.
And by and by the fly descended
and landed wide-awake.
He spotted the spider and tried his best
to escape the sticky trap.
The spider watched and slowly moved
and the fly with his handicap
became the bait inside the web
that the spider made at night.
The spider had his breakfast early
in the morning light.

Grey Day
When I get home its late at night,
Im black and bloody from my life,
I havent time to clean my hands,
Cuts will only sting me through my dreams.
Its well past midnight as I lie
In a semi-conscious state.
I dream of people fighting me
Without any reason I can see.
In the morning I awake,
My arms my legs my body aches,
The sky outside is wet and grey
So begins another weary day.
So begins another weary day.
After eating I go out,
People passing by me shout.
I cant stand this agony
Why dont they talk to me?
In the park I have to rest
I lie down and I do my best,
The rain is falling on my face
I wish I could sink without a trace.
In the morning I awake,
My arms my legs my body aches,
The sky outside is wet and grey,
So begins another weary day.
So begins another weary day.
In the park I have to rest
I lie down and I do my best,
The rain is falling on my face
I wish I could sink without a trace.
In the morning I awake,
My arms my legs my body aches,
The sky outside is wet and grey,
So begins another weary day.
So begins another weary day.

A Noiseless Patient Spider
there are creatures
that could take you
into another world
without having to move
even an inch
for instance, a giant spider web
between two trees
blobs of lights strewn all over
and that greyish black creature
its legs spread so uniformly
one wonders where it has acquired
such pristine skill
talk about discipline?
you can get it from the spider
that could for hours meditate on its net
legs angled so tidily
it would take years for a dancer
to perfect a similar show
and as you watch
you could feel it pull
the world into its realm,
reinforced quietness, stillness
that the spider zealously guards against
hour after hour it sits in meditation
and each hour adds intensity
to that rooted calmness
so that when it moves
with the arrival of a moth
it turns the world
with each of its steps
floating over its wondrous web
pulling us into another world
the world filled with that maze
of desires, rat race, survival quests
