In Mind

There's in my mind a woman
of innocence, unadorned but

fair-featured and smelling of
apples or grass. She wears

a utopian smock or shift, her hair
is light brown and smooth, and she

is kind and very clean without
ostentation-

but she has
no imagination

And there's a
turbulent moon-ridden girl

or old woman, or both,
dressed in opals and rags, feathers

and torn taffeta,
who knows strange songs

but she is not kind.

My Kind Of Woman - My Kind Of Man (feat. Patty Loveless)

You don't need diamonds or big fancy cars
You say you're happy right where you are
We're bound together by a little gold band
You're my kind of woman
Oh, you're my kind of man
Oh, living without you is my only fear
You still drive me crazy when I hold you near
My boudy trembles with the touch of your hand
You're my kind of woman
Oh, you're my kind of man
chorus:
You're my kind of woman
You're my kind of man
A match made in heaven
By God's gentle hands
I'll love you forever
Together we'll stand
You're my kind of woman
You're my kind of man
(repeat chorus)
You're my kind of woman
And you're my kind of man

Strange Kind Of Women

There once was a woman, a strange kind of woman
The kind that gets written down in history
Her name was Nancy, her face was nothing fancy
She left a trail of happiness and misery
I loved her, everybody loved her
She loved everyone and gave them good return
I tried to take her, I even tried to break her
She said, I ain't for takin', won't you ever learn
I want you, I need you, I gotta be near you
I spent my money as I took my turn
I want you, I need you, I gotta be near you
Ooh, I got a strange kind of woman
She looks like a raver, but I could never please her
On Wednesday mornings, boy, you can't go far
I couldn't get her, but things got better, she said
Saturday nights from now on, baby, you're my star
I want you, I need you, I gotta be near you
I spent my money as I took my turn
I want you, I need you, I gotta be near you
Ooh, I got a strange kind of woman
Ooh, my soul, I love you
I want you, I need you, I gotta be near you
I spent my money as I took my turn
I want you, I need you, I gotta be near you
Ooh, I got a strange kind of woman
She finally said she loved me, I wed her in a hurry
And no more callers and I glow with pride
I'm dreaming, I feel like screaming
I won my woman just before she died
I want you, I need you, I gotta be near you
I spent my money as I took my turn
I want you, I need you, I gotta be near you
Ooh, I had a strange kind of woman

Her Kind

have gone out, a possessed witch,
haunting the black air, braver at night;
dreaming evil, I have done my hitch
over the plain houses, light by light:
lonely thing, twelve-fingered, out of mind.
A woman like that is not a woman, quite.
I have been her kind.

I have found the warm caves in the woods,
filled them with skillets, carvings, shelves,
closets, silks, innumerable goods;
fixed the suppers for the worms and the elves:
whining, rearranging the disaligned.
A woman like that is misunderstood.
I have been her kind.

I have ridden in your cart, driver,
waved my nude arms at villages going by,
learning the last bright routes, survivor
where your flames still bite my thigh
and my ribs crack where your wheels wind.
A woman like that is not ashamed to die.
I have been her kind.

Strange Kind Of A Woman

I want you, I need you, I gotta be near you
I spent my money as I took my turn
I want you, I need you, ha ha ha
Ooh, I had a strange kind of woman, yeah
She was so fat
She was the worst thing youve ever seen
Ooh, my soul, I love you, baby
- hey, thank you, thank you.

Not That Kind Of Girl

Im not that kind of girl who thinks I can change the world
With just a simple twirl of my hair
Ill never break your heart, tear your soul apart
With just a simple spark from my stare
Wont go playing with your insides
Take your wallet for its big size
Wont be suckered in by those foolish games
1:

Oh, oh, Im not that kind of girl
Oh, oh, Im not that kind of girl
Oh, oh, Im not that kind of girl
Oh, oh, Im not that kind of girl
Im not that of girl who think you can rule my world
With just a simple wave of your hand
So dont you push me down, or start to play around
Cause when you see me frown, just beware
Dont go playing with my insides
Tell me stories, tell me big lies
Wont be taken in by those silly games
Repeat 1

Come on, come on
Yo, tell me vc, what kind of girl are you?
Let me know
Im not the kind of girl to make you lose your mind
I wanna be the kind of girl youll never leave behind
Youre gonna take it, never fake it, you know youll see
That Im just the kind of girl I always wanted to be
Im not that kind of girl, Im not that kind of girl
Im not that kind of girl
I like your kind of girl, I like that kind of girl
I like your kind of girl
Im not that kind of girl
I like your kind of girl, I like all kinds of girls
I like your kind of girl
Im not that kind of girl

Am I The Kind Of Girl Who Could Be Your Boyfriend?

Am i the kind of girl who could be your boyfriend
Am i the kind of jill who could play with jacks
Am i the kind of girl who could be your boyfriend
The kind of screw that your toolbox lacks
Put on the shoes, come let's go bend the rules
We'll kiss and make up, showing them all
They're straight-laced fools
I'm the kind of girl who could be your boyfriend
Am i the kind of woman who could be your man
Let's twist it up
Let's fix it up
Let's bend it up
C'mon now
Let's send it on up
Am i the kind of girl who could be your boyfriend
Am i the kind of belle who could be your beau
Am i the kind of girl who could be your boyfriend
The kind of buck who could spend your dough
Tear up the ticket, who needs that show tonight
Tear up the ticket, i'll be the groom
And honey you'll be the bride in white
I'm the kind of girl who could be your boyfriend
Am i the kind of girl who could be your man
Let's twist it up
Let's send it up
Let's bend it up
C'mon now
Let's fix it up
La la la la la la la
Am i the kind of girl who could be your boyfriend
Am i the kind of girl who could be your man
Am i the kind of girl who could be your boyfriend
Am i the kind of girl who could be your man

Girl O' My Dreams

Here we go, 2 .. 1, 2, 3!
I want a woman like Marilyn Monroe
The kind of woman that'd never say no
The kind of woman that'd make U scream
"That's the girl o' my dreams!"
I want a woman that'll treat me right
Give me good lovin' all through the night
Take her on a date, she's my machine
That's the girl o' my dreams
CHORUS:
Oh, the girl o' my dreams
Oh, listen people, that's the girl o' my dreams
I want a woman like Lauren Bacall
Old and wrinkled but knows it all
Got all the little tricks that'll make me cream
That's the girl o' my dreams
I want a woman that'll wash my hair
Even wash my underwear
Always smilin', never mean
That's the girl o' my dreams
CHORUS
I would say that U're a chauvinist
No, I just got a lot of things that are on my list!
Yeah, if she couldn't hang, would U give her the fist?
No man, I'd sit her right down and give her a little kiss!
Oh, I need a woman like Lena Horne
Knowed she was funky since the day she was born
Lena's mama say "Doc, is it a girl?"
Doc say "And how!"
Lena smiled, slapped the doctor and said
"Sucker I'm runnin' things now!"
CHORUS

Black Eyed Girl

Once had a woman I used to watch her walk
Said I once had a woman I used to watch her talk
Yes I once had a woman in my heart in my mind
You know the kind
Once saw my woman with another man
Once saw my woman take a hold of his hand
Said I once saw my woman in my heart in my mind
Ooh Lord she was a mean kind
She was a good woman yeah
Nothing wrong with her
A little bit wild but all right
Now I'm older
I'm real good at tellin lies
But I'll never forget her no no
Even in my heart even in my mind
Black eyed girl of mine
She was a black eyed girl of mine
Shes so good
She's still free comin after you
yeah

Child Woman, Woman Child

Orbison/dees
Coo coo, thats you, wonder why I love you, you do voodoo, thunder clouds above you
Crazy, kooky, lazy spooky, oh what a clown, always around
And I have found youre a woman. child woman. woman child
Long legged woman when I see you walking you look good
Hey little woman when I hear you talking you sound good
Child woman, woman child youre driving me wild child woman woman child
Youre into my mind then youre out of my mind child woman
You wind and unwind my mind, time after time child woman ooh child woman, yeah child woman
Flying uptight, dont know where youre going, trying your kite when the wind is blowing
Funny lady, sunny, shady off to the fair, sun in your hair
Oh, youre aware youre a woman child woman, woman child
Strong minded woman when you start groovin you look fine
My kind of woman when you start movin you look fine
Child woman, woman child youre driving me wild child woman woman child
I dont see you there, I see you everywhere child woman
I dont even care -yes, I really do care child woman, ooh child woman,
Hey child woman child woman, woman child

Chauvinist

I’d never really comprehended such a mighty range of
Shapes and sizes down behind, it’s really rather strange:
The buttock muscle in a woman, overlaid with fat
Is actually such a focal point for men to want to pat

Or squeeze, and then to tease her if it’s eminently stout,
Or even risk a stay in clink to sting it with a clout!
After all, we men are tuned to be that way inclined –
And tho’ our needs are varied, girls, they’re all perverse of mind!

Best of all, our sacred dream: to see her shed her gown
When gliding to the shower for the ritual sponging down.
But then alas! With body lathered, oops! she drops the soap;
‘Please! ’ we beg her, ‘bend and bare! ’ But we can only hope!

I’m sure by now you get the picture – like a rule of thumb –
That men like me obsess all day about the fairer bum.

Beauty of A Woman

The beauty of a woman
is not in the clothes she wears,
the figure she carries,
or the way she combs her hair;

and...

The beauty of a woman
is not in a facial mole, but...
true beauty of a woman
is reflected in her soul.
The care that she gives, and...
the passion she shows; would be the...
beauty of a woman's character that grows.

Phenomenal Woman: A Lady with love.
Phenomenal Woman: An Angel above.
Phenomenal Woman: An Image of God.
Respectful, kind, and not of a facade.

A Poet with love; her age just a number,
this Woman of God would NEVER slumber.

Girl, Youll Be A Woman Soon

I love you so much, cant count all the ways
Id die for you girl, and all they can say is
Hes not your kind
They never get tired of puttin me down
And I never know when I come around
What Im gonna find
Dont let them make up your mind
Dont you know
Girl, youll be a woman soon
Please come take my hand
Girl, youll be a woman soon
Soon youll need a man
Ive been misunderstood for all of my life
But what theyre sayin, girl, just cuts like a knife
The guys no good
Well, I finally found what Ive been looking for
But if they get the chance, theyll end it for sure
Sure they would
Baby, Ive done all I could
Now its up to you
Girl, youll be a woman soon
Please come take my hand
Girl, youll be a woman soon
Soon youll need a man
Girl, youll be a woman soon
Please come take my hand
Girl, youll be a woman soon
Soon, but soon youll need a man

Kentucky Woman

Kentucky woman
She shines in her own kind of light
She looks at you once in a day
And whats wrong is alright
And I love her,
God knows I love her
Kentucky woman
She gets to know you
She gets to hold you
Kentucky woman
She aint the kind to turn
At the drop of her name
Well all the things she does
They turn you on just the same
And I love her,
God knows I love her
Kentucky woman
She gets to know you
She gets to hold you
Kentucky woman
I dont want much
The good lords earth beneath my feet
A gentle touch
Cause that one girl in life is sweet and good
There aint no doubt, Im talking about
Kentucky woman
She gets to know you
She gets to hold you
Kentucky woman
Kentucky woman she shines in her own kind of light
She looks at you once in a day
And whats wrong is alright
And I love her, yes I do, I love her

Woman In Black

I knew the moment
I walked through that door
I felt so close to a burning sensation
It got so warm
As I moved across the floor
My body aching with anticipation
I saw a dark silhouette, at the table
I tried to talk, but I was unable
She drew me in right under her spell
I was hypnotized by the sudden temptation
Of that woman in black, shes a mystery
Shes everything a woman should be
Woman in black, shes got a hold on me
Shes in control, she wont set me free
She is a woman
Shes not a girl anymore
The kind that stirs up a young mans imagination
Shes dressed to kill
And Im so ready to fall
Into her world full of strange fascination
I see that dark silhouette, at the table
I cant resist, my bodys not able
She draws me in, but she teaches me well
I never need any explanation
From that woman in black, shes a mystery
Shes everything a woman should be
I said, woman in black, got a hold on me
Shes in control, she wont set me free
Ooh, woman in black
Its too late now
I cant turn back
cause Im a fool for that woman
Woman in black
Ooh, ooh, woman in black
Ooh, that woman in black, shes a mystery
Shes everything a woman should be
That woman in black, shes got a hold on me
Shes in control, she wont set me free
Shes my mysterious mistress
But she leaves me so helpless
My woman in black
Shes a dark senorita
My woman in black
No sunday school teacher
My woman in black
Were keeping it a secret
We meet in the night
Were partners in silence
Strangers in daylight

Hey Hey

Well, Ive seen some women
They put your soul on ice
They want a piece of the action
But they never let you roll the dice.
Thats the kind of woman
Bring a good man down
Thats the kind of woman
I dont want around
Hey hey.
I got a woman that dances
She knows how to jump and shout
Now she dont wanna use me
cause she knows how it wears me out.
Yeah, shes the woman
With the magic touch
She dont want to lose me
cause she loves me too much
Hey hey.
Hey hey, my woman looks good to me
Hey hey, my woman looks good to me.
Yeah, she knows how to please me
She knows how to set me free.
Get off of that couch
Turn off that m.t.v.
Get off of that couch
Turn off your m.t.v.
Hey hey, my woman looks good to me.

A Sunday Kind of Woman

I can only imagine for our worlds are far apart
How it would feel to hold this woman mouth to mouth heart to heart
I guess it's a good thing dreaming's free
What would a Sunday kind of woman
A Sunday kind of woman want an everyday man like me.
I've had lots of nightlife women you've seen one you've seen 'em all
And I wake up in the morning and I turn and face the wall
And long for someone special's company
But would a Sunday kind of woman
A Sunday kind of woman love an everyday man like me.
But would a Sunday kind of woman
A Sunday kind of woman love an everyday man like me.

He Sits Beside Her

when he sits beside her
she knows what she wants

him

and she pretends that she is just
nothing but a girl
whose hands are too tiny and so fragile
and he of course
will be tender & gentle to any kind of girl like

her

but she is more than a girl now
that
he must know
she knows where to touch him
what weak spot
and tell him
you are sitting beside this

woman

he takes a look some more
her eyes are are inviting
not innocent
he begins to see the eyes
of the woman
he made love before

she wears the smell of a beautiful
full-grown woman
ready for any sweet seclusion
or inclusion shall i say
a seduction just to be exact in some ways

this physical smell
of warm flesh and smooth skin and luscious lips
of a woman

now she looks at him again
a lingering stare
ready to take him in
only if she understands
the changes in her taking place in this moment

in such a magical moment he does not see the same little girl
whose hands he thought
are innocent

and so fragile
he understands fully the begging hands of time
now the fruit is ripe for the picking
the tree is waiting

Sestina

I have come, alas, to the great circle of shadow,
to the short day and to the whitening hills,
when the colour is all lost from the grass,
though my desire will not lose its green,
so rooted is it in this hardest stone,
that speaks and feels as though it were a woman.

And likewise this heaven-born woman
stays frozen, like the snow in shadow,
and is unmoved, or moved like a stone,
by the sweet season that warms all the hills,
and makes them alter from pure white to green,
so as to clothe them with the flowers and grass.

When her head wears a crown of grass
she draws the mind from any other woman,
because she blends her gold hair with the green
so well that Amor lingers in their shadow,
he who fastens me in these low hills,
more certainly than lime fastens stone.

Her beauty has more virtue than rare stone.
The wound she gives cannot be healed with grass,
since I have travelled, through the plains and hills,
to find my release from such a woman,
yet from her light had never a shadow
thrown on me, by hill, wall, or leaves’ green.

I have seen her walk all dressed in green,
so formed she would have sparked love in a stone,
that love I bear for her very shadow,
so that I wished her, in those fields of grass,
as much in love as ever yet was woman,
closed around by all the highest hills.

The rivers will flow upwards to the hills
before this wood, that is so soft and green,
takes fire, as might ever lovely woman,
for me, who would choose to sleep on stone,
all my life, and go eating grass,
only to gaze at where her clothes cast shadow.

Whenever the hills cast blackest shadow,
with her sweet green, the lovely woman
hides it, as a man hides stone in grass.
