Why Poets?
When a poem is read
A reader's home is entered
Where dwells a kindred spirit
You laugh…you cry
You groan and you sigh
You feel and taste and hear it
We bring tears to eyes
Smiles to lips…
Memories to mind
We make you think
With pen and ink
And open minds once blind
That music is a source of joy
Of that, of course there is
No doubt
But words and phrases
Ink on pages, of that
We'd ne'er do without
It's a gift given to very few
In truth, this game
of words and phrases
Of measurable worth?
Of real value none?
Of real time and of real places?
So why the need for you and me?
What place have we…Poets,
In grand schemes, of things and matters?
…It's because….
We give wings to words
That soar like birds
And oftimes leave your heart
…in tatters…

I read another poet I could not understand
I READ ANOTHER POET I COULD NOT UNDERSTAND
I read another poet I could not understand
The metaphors racing one after the other
The eternal thoughts taking on a new particular dress
Words and more words
Lines and more lines
Rushing toward meaning and beauty.
And in it all my simple not understanding,
My waiting to hear words that would return to me-
My understanding
That only by my own effort
By my reading again and again
By my willing to believe
Could I make another poet real.
But do I want another poet to be real
When I am a question,
And when there are already others real for me also?
Oh selfish little man oh poor poor reader-
Write your poem alone again
As if no one but you will ever be able to write
The poems which are real.

Psycho
I told you time and time again
that we would meet just as friends
and now i just can't seem to get my story through
if i'd known all about this then
i wouldn't have said the things I said
im left now with a problem
what to do
cuz i can't seem to tell her
exactly the way i feel
i can't seem to find the words to show what i know is real
and if she calls me on the phone
wont you tell her im not home
just say ive gone so very far away
if she asks when ill return
tell her that you have not learned
and that i might have plans to stay
cuz i can't seem to tell her
exactly the way i feel i
can't seem to find the words to show what i know is real
i can't seem to tell her
exactly the way i feel
i can't seem to find the words to show what i know is real
here she comes again
this time surrounded by her friends
do i pretend that i dont see her or say hi
she asks me if im free
i said i would if it was up to me
and pray she sees the truth behind my lie
cuz i can't seem to tell her
exactly the way i feel
i can't seem to find the words to show what i know is real
i can't seem to tell her
exactly the way i feel
i can't seem to find the words to show what i know is real

Real Love
How to say love?
How to see love?
or to seize love?
saying love u out of your lips
not the way to say love
say i love u in your heart
whom u love then they can hear
with their hearts
if u sees in your eyes
u still never see the real love
but with open heart
and open mind
if u accept the real light
then u can see the beauty
the beauty of be love
and to be in a real love
in every where
in every time
u can seize the real love
when u let the devotee to fly
and to shine
like the sun of the noon
like the moon
fade the darks of night
like the birds of the north
coming back to their home
from south
u can say in every word
the real love
u can see in every where
the real love
and reveal
the real love
in your soul
the real love
the
real
love
at the end
is a dream
of real woman
and the deeds
of real man.

More Than Words
Saying I love you
Is not the words I want to hear from you
Its not that I want you
Not to say, but if you only knew
How easy it would be to show me how you feel
More than words is all you have to do to make it real
Then you wouldnt have to say that you love me
Cos Id already know
What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldnt make things new
Just by saying I love you
More than words
Now Ive tried to talk to you and make you understand
All you have to do is close your eyes
And just reach out your hands and touch me
Hold me close dont ever let me go
More than words is all I ever needed you to show
Then you wouldnt have to say that you love me
Cos Id already know
What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away

Who Is Now Reading This?
count yourself blessed
if you are reading this?
you are the rare few
who actually read others' poetry
nobody is serious about other people's life anyway
poetry reading is being noosy
an orphan in an alleyway
tries to look for a
home sweet home
count yourself doubled blessed
if you fully understand any poem
for poets write for themselves
if a poet says he writes for others
he is probably a liar
after money probably
count yourself blessed for having learnt this
for among the millions of poets
there are poets in lost alleys
trying to find a piece of themselves
the lane that runs to treasures of heart and mind
verses springing from the sanctity of the soul
many slip on the make belief lane
throwing words, phrases helter skelter
a child that tries to plant fiction in non fiction
offering honorable readers
a half baked cake nobody would take
the heaven sounds out the genius though
each of his word gets you revved up
each of the words offers a
a spectacle into real sights, sounds, tastes
and smells
the honorable readers know the fakes
from the real - just so instinctively
real words never lie
the diamond detector never fails

Who Is Now Reading This?
May-be one is now reading this who knows some wrong-doing of my past
life,
Or may-be a stranger is reading this who has secretly loved me,
Or may-be one who meets all my grand assumptions and egotisms with
derision,
Or may-be one who is puzzled at me.
As if I were not puzzled at myself!
Or as if I never deride myself! (O conscience-struck! O self-
convicted!)
Or as if I do not secretly love strangers! (O tenderly, a long time,
and never avow it ;)
Or as if I did not see, perfectly well, interior in myself, the stuff
of wrong-doing,
Or as if it could cease transpiring from me until it must cease.10

As I work with my words as medium
I want to be profound
Deep, deeper than what i
Can possible swim
But I have seen
The limitations
Of words as medium
Of my thoughts
How can I put the
Color red
Of an apple
In words
Or the scent
Of lavender
In syllables
Here you are
Reading me
And I do not want
To disappoint
You, my reader
I want to create
A world of sensations
For such is the
World of poetry
I have long wanted
You to feel
My sadness in
Letters
My loneliness
In a single
Letter
This
i
Or...... ............................... me...................................
I want you to listen
To me
In the hush of the wind
In syllables
I want you to
Read my joys
In my phrases
Sometimes
I have given
You sentences
stanzas
I want you to
Be at home
With my words
But these are
Just words
And I must
Have failed
In bringing
Back to life
Your senses
Hopelessly
They have long
been dead
words, words, words,
And
Even this whole
Poem
Is not enough
Let me try
Again
On some
Coming
Illustrations
Birds falling
Their wings clipped
Leaves blown
Detached from
Their stems
Trees threatened
About the news
Of the coming storms
Oh I am so sorry
Your senses are sleeping

The Real Poets
THE REAL POETS
The real poets are few in number and largely known by name
The rest of us are endless frustration in aspiration
Words upon words upon words
Dreams upon dreams upon dreams
Getting and going nowhere forever unheard
The real poets find their anthologized place
And we know them over and over and over again
The rest of us just appear this only once
If we appear at all
And our words and our hearts and our minds
Do not encompass and inspire the endless rereadings
Time and Time’s Wounds make again and again and again
We are once only always forever losts
Nothing will save us
These words too coming in the wake of a long night’s reading
Of the poems of others
Cannot sustain and redeem
Cannot be what they would be
Cannot help and cannot save
Me or you or anyone we love
Even as poetry.
God Who Knows All
And in the End Decides on Everything
Has made us smaller even than the Angels
And our place in the Divine Song
Is not as far as we know
Anywhere heard at all.
Goodbye world
We are going
We have done what we could
We have written and written and written
Oxymandias’ poet will remain
And we will not
The lone and desert sands will stretch away
When we are not even a single grain.

Pavers Of Life
I must make a trip to London
and walk on the pavers of life.
I must feel the death of the poets
that endured the mental strife
of not enough time to ink the page,
for death came early during that age.
I must feel their messages in my mind
and experience the force of words
coursing through my body, my soul
and in my heart like a thousand birds.
For I feel the call to reconnect
and praise these poets with respect.
For poets live in the hearts of men
and paint pictures over and again
with eloquent phrases one by one
filling their pages until they're done.
I must make a trip to London
from whence my journey had begun.

The First Poem
The first poem I ever read
is the first words I ever said.
The words I love you
written by this beauty's tongue
turned a heart rosy red from a somber blue
and made me burn for my heart was wrung.
The first poem I ever read
is the first poem I ever said.
On her poetic lips love words refined
and shaped a sonnet on her flesh defined
On those lips I read a poet's song
And knew it was there my lips belonged.
The first poem I ever read
is the first words I ever said.
I love you, I love you
What does it mean?
These words said, to start anew
something pure and something serene.
The first words I ever read
is the first words I ever said.
Those first words she whispered into my ear
And in my heart, her poem stood near
Those are the most beautiful words one ever said
I love you, I love you, will live till its dead.
The first poem I ever read
is the first words I ever said.
I read her lips, I love you, I love you..
now to sleep I go in love's sweet bed.

My Poet Time Travelers
I thought of it all day and well into the night
That for you a poem I would write.
What words can you use to describe a person
You’ve never seen.
Then a realization came into my mind
I’ve been writing them for a very long time.
Every time we write about GOD and his begotten son
The words flow freely and never left undone.
So it matters not if it is sight unseen
We write about everything- it’s a poets dream.
Poets go into worlds never traveled before
Seeking all that GOD has made
And come back with knowledge that they’ve gained.
Into the realms of mystery, love, excitement and fear
So that with you these words they could share.
They see the realities of today
The dreams of yesterdays
The future of tomorrows
And the pains and sorrows.
They are the time travelers of the mind
Their eyes are open - they are not blind.
So when you read what they write
It’s because of this time travelers insight.
So to my time traveling co-poets, this I must say
I am proud to have traveled this road with you
Into the minds of man, and writing
The stories that they all understand.

Real At The Time
Words and music by bob seger
I still remember how I fell for you
There wasnt one thing I would not do
I still recall the love in your eyes
Blue like the sky on a clear sunrise
And it was real at the time
Real at the time
I was yours you were mine
It was real at the time
You were a lioness tall and lean
You were the best thing Id ever seen
I heard a loneliness in your voice
I charged ahead I had no choice
Cause it felt real at the time
Real at the time
Like a mountain you climb
It felt real at the time
And babe you meant so much to me
I never will forget your face
I never will forget those nights
Those nights
Those nights
Lost in the pettiness and the fights
Lost in the battle for bragging rights
We were a couple of kindred souls
Fighting for childish things like control
But it was real at the time
Real at the time
Like the scene of a crime
It was real at the time
It was real at the time
I was yours you were mine
We got way out of line
But it was real at the time

Naughty Words!
Often words are but tiny turds of humor and of wit,
Flotsam in a poets mind…“Oh my, what junk, what shit! ”
Alas, it’s true at times words can form a perfect line,
“How wonderful, how clever” the words are so sublime
When all is said 'n done, its truth that’s clear 'n real,
By writing what we see 'n hear...especially what we feel
Write on poets!
There be no rules that we must heed or follow
Drink in the gifts of words sweet chums...
But don’t forget to swallow!

Angel
girl it's been so long
since i held you in my arms
so i picked up pen and paper
and decided to write you a song
things just ain't the same
since you took your love away
all i have is dark and lonely days
cause the sun don't shine my way
wish that i could find the words to say
to show you love is real
the words just can't express the way i feel
[chorus]
you're my angel
my sun up in the sky
we've been through hell and back together
why you wanna leave me now
only you can ease the pain i feel
and wipe my tears away
won't you fly back home and make me whole again
baby not a day goes bye
that i don't want to cry
when i think of what we had
how you walked out of my life
all i had was yours to take
till my heart you chose to break
still wish that i could make love to you
just one more time for old times sake
if only i could find the words to say
to show you love is real
the words just can't express the way i feel
[chorus]
you're my angel
my sun up in the sky
we've been through hell and back together
why you wanna leave me now
only you can ease the pain i feel
and wipe my tears away
won't you fly back home and make me feel whole again
come back home
come back home
cause without you here beside me
my house is not a home
only you can ease the pain i feel
and wipe my tears away
won't you fly back home and make me whole again
you're my angel
my sun up in the sky
we've been through hell and back together
why you wanna leave me now
only you can ease the pain i feel
and wipe my tears away
won't you fly back home and make me whole again
you're my angel
my sun up in the sky
we've been through hell and back together
why you wanna leave me now
only you can ease the pain i feel
and wipe my tears away
you've been gone too long so won't you come back home

Paradise
Let me tell you this
Your love I can't resist
I just start to fantasize
Every time I look into your eyes
I want to laugh and talk
And say the words you long to hear
I want to fill you up with so much love
The real world will just disappear
Chorus: let me take you to a place I call paradise
Hold you in my arms every day and night
Tell you all the things that I really feel
Show you that my love is for real
Let me take you to paradise
Take you to paradise
Let me be your guide
On a magic carpet ride
To a place where love is pure
And our passions can endure
I want you to close your eyes and realize
A world for two
I want you to hear me whisper in your ear
I want to make love to you
Let me take you to a place I call paradise
Hold you in my arms every day and night
Tell you all the things that I really feel
Show you that my love is for real
Let me take you to paradise
Take you to paradise
Do you want to go?
Don't? you want to know?
About a real love
Give me just some time
You'll like what you find
I know
It's so plain to me
We were meant to be
I want to show you baby
We'll unlock all of life's Mysteries
And realize how great our love can really be
Let me take you to paradise

Real
You sit in a garden
Locked away from the world
Find no reason to see your friends
Everything you need is here
But your eyes are open
Enough to see you said
All I read are memories
With a black line of love
You make me feel
Real
See the hand in front of your face
And see what is real and what is make believe
Would you run away to catch the ocean if it called you name ?
Everybody is looking for heaven on earth
And you believe to be bling
Your mind is the watchman at the gate
Faith is all you need
You make me feel

The Mood
I'll simply be out shopping,
or just going for a run,
when words and phrases hit me,
and a poem has begun.
Sentences and lots of words,
go running through my mind,
and i know if i dont write them down,
my thoughts leave me behind.
So quick hand me some paper!
Just please give me that pen!
If i do not write this down soon,
the words will go again.

Like So Many Poems I Read
LIKE SO MANY POEMS I READ
Like so many poems I read
These poems I am reading now
Are not poems to me.
They are too detached
Too abstract
Too up in the air.
I want to hear the words
Make a music of feeling
In my soul.
A poem must move me
If it is to be real.
Why then do I write these words
as if a poem?
