The Water Tower

I sit and stare at this empty page,
The wind howls long at the winter eaves,
The cloud is heavy, and black with rage
As squalls dance in through the myrtle leaves.

While deep inside in the cottage gloom
My love lies weary, cocooned in dreams,
I hear her cry in the darkened room
Call out one name from a nightmare scene.

‘Michelle, ’ she mutters, then groans aloud
I grit my teeth at the open door,
The wind it eddies in dust and leaves
And echoes long at the water tower.

‘Michelle, Michelle, ’ it grumbles and groans,
‘Michelle, ’ it whispers, then skips and howls;
My love rolls over in deepest sleep
While I keep watch through the early hours.

The storm comes in and the rain drives down,
Batters at windows and roof in vain,
The wires whine in a humming frown:
‘Michelle, Michelle, ’ is its one refrain.

And tears roll at my weathered cheek
The clock chimes five at the early hour,
Michelle once crawled from her bed, asleep,
And went to climb at the water tower.

Her hair was black as a raven’s coat
Her eyes set back in that tiny face,
Three winters long was her spell of dreams
Before she crept to that dreadful place.

Three winters long was our fairy child
Who lisped and chattered from heart to heart,
The cottage door had a faulty latch –
I’d always meant to replace that part.

But now, awake from her nest of dreams
I see my love at the open door,
I wait in hope, but her eyes are ice;
She’s staring out at the water tower.

Then I look down, and the page is full,
I’ve scribbled the words of an ancient rhyme,
Over and over and over again –
‘I’ll fix the latch when I get the time.’

And she goes back to her bed to cry
While I sit frozen beside the door,
The latch still rattles, the door’s ajar;
I’ve punched three holes in the water tower.

Michelle, little girl I need you baby more than the air I breathe
My love for you grows stronger babe
My words you must believe
Well I need to see you laugh again and I want to see you smile
Michelle, little girl I love you baby you're my only child
Michelle, little girl the pain for you is hurting me inside
At night I think of you sometimes I lean my head and cry
I need to see you laugh again and I want to see you smile
Michelle, little girl I love you baby you're my only child
Michelle, little girl I need you baby more than the air I breathe

The Book of Van den Braak

I stared at the book on the table
Where it lay on the weathered oak,
The cover so black and tarnished,
Tanned in leather through coils of smoke,
Its ancient layers had long been carved
As petals of some grim flower,
Where an evil mildew spread its mould
From the walls of that ancient tower.

The book was set like an altar piece
In that ancient, flagstoned hall,
Catching the feeble rays of light
Through cracks in the old stone wall,
I hastened to look away, but yet
It gripped me in its glare,
Like some old German Grimoire...
Though no title page was there!

I reached for the cover and opened it,
The leather creaked with age,
As it formed with its rotting petals
Into a rose around the page,
The smell of the mildew wafted up
And the chill was damp and stark,
There was nothing but evil in that tower,
In the book of Van den Braak.

I leant right over the book and saw
A woodcut of a lane,
The trees were grim in their winter coats
As the snow gave way to rain,
The mud was thick on the barren leaves
That were mulched from the Autumn's fall,
And I felt it squelch right under my feet
As the wind howled round the hall!

The tower was gone, I stood outside
In the rain and the brooding dark,
Walking along a windswept lane
In the book of Van den Braak,
I saw the light of a cottage there,
Set back in among the trees,
And a woman wailed on the painted step,
My own, my dear Louise!

I ran towards her, through a stream
That babbled beside the lane,
Louise was crying and wailing there,
She muttered: 'I'm not to blame! '
I must have seemed like a phantom there,
I waved, but she couldn't see,
She said, 'you shouldn't have killed him,
I just asked you to set me free! '

A man ran out from the cottage door,
His coat was covered in blood,
He ran his hands through his tangled hair
And fell, to kneel in the mud.
He took her into his arms and cried,
She clung, and called him Mark,
And then when he turned, I saw his face,
I knew him - Van den Braak!

I must have been quite invisible
In the pages of that book,
Or they were a couple of phantoms
Making love as I stood and shook,
I walked around to the cottage door
And peered in out of the rain,
I lay stone dead on the hearthstone there,
A bullet lodged in my brain.

In shock I turned, I saw the tower,
I ran with all my might,
Back to the Norman Keep and Moat,
Back through the surly night,
The eyes of demons had followed me
From high in the trees of the park,
But I was ready for come-what-may
At the hands of Van den Braak!

Then suddenly, I was in the tower,
Leaning over the book,
When Van den Braak called out that he
Was ready to take a look,
I'd brought the book with the tenants' rents
Of those that lived in the park,
But I stabbed him high in the rib cage there,
And cut his throat in the dark!

I went to his German Grimoire
Fell once more through the open page,
Went looking for my Louise, by now
In the white hot throes of rage,
She sat and wailed on the painted step
And muttered there in the dark...
'I didn't ask you to kill the man,
Just free me from Van den Braak! '

Michelle O

Michelle O...
Radiant and blessed.
Stunning in appearance,
With the glow of loveliness.

Strong and delightful...
A mother and wife,
Exuding intelligence that sparkles...
As if dew lifts with a freshness,
That comes with the dawn of sunlight!

Michelle O...
Representing at her best.
And clearly an asset held,
By her husband Barack.
Witness with approval with few who protest!

And others who are captivated,
By her honesty that leaves...
Impressions felt,
From her expressed directness left!

Michelle O...
Smartly dressed and fashioned for excellence,
Frank and brilliant with charm and charisma matched!
She is no one's eye candy.
Nor is she with wits detached.

A woman of grace,
And there unafraid to say what she means.
Without losing her dignity...
She's upfront with no masqueraded face.
Putting those looking for signs of weakness...
Demurely,
If need be...
In their respectful place!

Michelle O,
Has so much class.
Perhaps surpassing that shown,
By her mate who also radiates...
This sensation in demand.
And arriving at a time much needed.
To feed depleted imaginations.

Michelle

(LennonMcCartney)
Michelle, ma belle
These are words that go together well
My Michelle
Michelle, ma belle
Sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble
Tres bien ensemble
I love you, I love you, I love you
That's all I want to say
Until I find a way
I will say the only words I know that
You'll understand
Michelle, ma belle
Sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble
Tres bien ensemble
I need to, I need to, I need to
I need to make you see
Oh, what you mean to me
Until I do I'm hoping you will
Know what I mean
I love you
I want you, I want you, I want you
I think you know by now
I'll get to you somehow
Until I do I'm telling you so
You'll understand
Michelle, ma belle
Sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble
Tres bien ensemble
I will say the only words I know
That you'll understand, my Michelle

Weakness

My friend you came to be
Never thought you’d lift your hand to me
The anger that filled your eyes
Was it me whom you despised
A striking pain upon my cheek
It was you who made me weak
Cowardly it was of me
You would never set me free
That anger and rage
Words not on my page
I love you was not said
For that I had bled
Today I look back
I see what I lacked
Courage to say no
To get up and go

When The Welsh Of Wales Go Home

There’s a distant drift of tides
That pitch at your troubled stare
And songs of a deep Welsh valley
Howl out from your wild, grey hair;
Then you sit, bright-eyed at the moonlight,
And you cry, bright-eyed at dawn,
There is no rest for the weary
When the Welsh of Wales go home.

You ride that distant country
While your eyes are mad with grief,
And you search for the things you lost there
Or you search for a long dead thief;
I speak, but get no answer
I question, cajole, implore,
You nod with an ancient wisdom,
And wake at a cottage door.

You knock, but find it empty
The thatch lies thick on the floor,
The shutters are hanging open
The latch, long torn from the door,
The sounds of distant children
You sense in the wind and weeds;
All gone, as if in an instant,
All scattered, like burdock seeds.

All gone, the lives you left there
Were storms that passed in the trees,
A light on the far horizon
Is all you have left of these,
For soon, you’ll go to my father,
Where he went, so bitter, so far,
And the Wales of the Welsh will claim you
At the last ‘Nos da.’

The Thud Of Silence Was Like A Tsunami

What happened in London-town
Caused traditionalists to sport many a frown
Michelle Obama touched the queen
With bare arm around the royal beam

The thud of silence was like a tsunami
Heard from London to Miami
Never before in all times past
Have Londoners been quite so aghast

They even stalled their daily tea-time
Which they rarely miss in war or peace-time
Yet Prince Charles, the stalwart prince
Didn’t allow his royal feelings to evince

The Queen had never been touched before
Assuming one believes that English lore
But somehow or other she made it through
‘Cause she liked Michelle, her friend so new

The world kept turning in spite of it all
Shoppers still shopped at their local mall
When The Queen placed her arm around our Michelle
The Brits drank their tea, convinced all was well

Let My Love Open The Door

Pete Townshend) (various dates)
The people keep repeatin'
The children follow along
Everybody keeps from changin'
And you could say you did enough...
Let my love open your door... (3x)
To your heart...
Let my love open the door (2x)
When everything feels all over
Everybody seems unkind
I'll give you a four-leaf clover
Take all worries out of your mind
Let my love open your door... (3x)
To your heart...
Let my love open the door...
To your heart...
Let my love open the door...
Have the only key to your heart...
I can stop you from fallin' apart
Tried to say in my own way...
Somebody give me the chance to say...
Let my love open your door...
It's all I'm lookin' for
And erase yourself from misery
There's only one thing that's gonna set you free...
When trouble really falls you...
Don't let it tie you down
Love can cure your problems
You're so lucky I'm around
Let my love open your door... (3x)
To your heart...
Let my love open the door...
To your heart...
Let my love open the door... (5x)
Oh...to your heart...
Oh...baby, I know I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said...
...I said, I said, I said, I said, I said, I said...
Oh...na na na...let my love open the door...
Let my love... (2x

The Unknown Boy

January 7th,2008 12: 00am-12: 45am
By: Michelle Peck

Your personality shines bright,
Like sitting in pure light.
When you smile,
It brings joy to my ears,
And makes my eyes go clear.
When I see your eyes,
It makes me cry because they are not mine.
I watch you play your sports,
And I see all kinds of sorts,
Or wonderful things I love.
Football season comes,
And I see you less and less,
My heart breaks in two,
Because of you.
Basketball season comes around,
And I might see you on the ground.
I see you more and more,
Because I see you in the mornings,
And at your games.
My heart isn’t broken,
Because I see you smoking,
The other team.
After you’re done I say,
“Good job” and keep wishing you were mine.
The way you choose your friends,
Makes my smile bend.
Without you,
I couldn’t write this poem to tell you,
How I feel about you.

The Night Visitor

Three times the knock it came to me
and opening up the door
I saw no person standing there
for help or succour plea.

I sat back down to lift the book
and Donne his Epicedes,
beside the embers I had sat,
three times again the sound.

My heart it stilled,
my heart it froze,
for no wind blew the cottage sky,
alone but lit by moon.

The sound again did slowly make,
was someone dead or going home?
for I with book and embers stood
afraid and now alone.

I stood and to the knock at once,
a soul upon my door,
for only wood could make that sound,
that I could hear again.

I slowly lifted up the latch,
and fearly opened up,
the door it let the ember glow
outside into the path.

I looked to see into the dark,
and there an Angel girl,
of long black hair,
and handsome form
did stand and beckon on.

Out into forest I was brought,
with hand and heart entwined.
We danced by pines,
and kissed by stars,
a garland she did make.

And oh! what night of reveries,
and oh! what night of care,
my youth returned again to make,
our love upon the carpet moss
alone lit by the moon.

And when awoke, I saw was gone,
the angel girl and joy,
I thought that I had dreamed
the scene beneath the single star.
But standing up I made my way
the cottage open door,
the fireside chair alone it kept
the poems for resting there.

And in the morning by the sun,
a light on pathway shone.
A garland made of pines and cones
lay there upon the step.

Let us not laugh at reveries
of love the heart can make,
the angel girl, she beckons
on to mossy carpet heart,
as lit by forest moon.

Chocolate Covered Gummy Bears

Chocolate covered gummy bears,
So deliciously sweet,
With their cute heads,
And tiny feet.
Different colors, tastes and shapes.

So deliciously sweet,
Chocolate and fruit flavors.
Don’t hold them so long
For if you do your hand becomes,
Gooey,
Brown,
Chocolaty
But don’t worry,
Just,
Go to the sink and wash it.
If you get mad,
They become a stress reliever.
Pull its head off,
Mash its head into another.
Stress is gone and they are still,
So deliciously sweet.
Yum!

It Was His Call

It was his call

That hero who nearly risked it all.

His country called him

The day our freedom was tested.

It was his call

A hero to us all.

He knew the stories

So many did not come home

He knew the sacrifice

Could be of his life

But he thought of his Savior

And the foundation of this country

And he remembered

The sacrifices of all

The heroes who had

Fought the battle.

Sometimes We Just Need to Let it Out

Talking to a friend with a form of Muscular Dystrophy today, shes been having a hard time of it so I told her I'd pray..

Sometimes all we need

Is a friend to talk to

A memory to share

It's important that

We have Someone who listens

Who understands

The friend that will

Listen without

Judgement

And without

Prejudice

Someone who will lift

A friend up in prayer

And reach out

When they are in pain.
