The Ventriloquist

An angry roar from the cheaper seats
Had followed them both outside,
Out of the rear, by the actor’s door
They looked for a place to hide,
Lord Jimmy’s coat had seen better days,
His shoes were muddy and dull,
And Bodger’s hat was crushed and dismayed
As he held it close to his skull!

‘Look what you’ve brought us to, sir, ’ he said,
Flapping his wooden jaw,
‘Out in the cold on a Saturday night;
It never does rain, but it pours! ’
Jimmy had tucked him right under his arm
And kept to the brickworks wall,
The shadows were long on the Old Kent Road
As the rain had begun to fall!

‘Oh Great! ’ the Bodger had spat in the dark,
As he scraped his head on a brick,
Taking a layer of varnish off,
And making him feel quite sick!
‘It’s cold and wet, and my head will swell
If the rain gets into my wood…’
‘If you don’t shut up, I’ll brain you first!
Let that be understood! ’

So off they marched, on into the night
To look for a place to sleep,
A laundry, stables, a bed of straw,
A station, hotel, or keep.
The rain set in as a drizzle out there
And soaked to the skin and bone,
Soaked through their coats to the varnish and wood
If the truth of the case be known.

‘I told you that ‘Bodger’s’ a lousy name,
You know you can’t mention a ‘B’,
The audience knew you were moving your lips,
Every ‘b’, every ‘v’, every ‘p’.’
‘You think you’re so smart, ’ Lord Jimmy replied,
‘I’m sick of you flapping your jaw,
If you can do better…’ - he stopped and he sighed,
His gaze cast down to the floor.

They walked and they walked through Bermondsey
Where the might of the Thames still flows,
While Bodger had wriggled his eyebrows once,
And sniffed through his dripping red nose.
‘I hope that you’re planning to dry me out,
My clothes are starting to shrink! ’
‘I’ll turn you into a scarecrow, then;
They’ll be laughing at that, I think! ’

The Dummy had flung him about at that,
And clocked Jimmy under the jaw,
Who fell in a heap like a worthless rat,
While Bodger stood tall, and swore,
He kicked and he rolled him over the bank
And into the swirling Thames,
The universe spun at the horror he’d done,
They’d always been known as ‘friends’.

Lord Jimmy just floated out under a bridge,
His face to the evening sky,
A look of surprise on the lids of his eyes
As his overcoat drifted by,
His body of walnut, his fingers of pine
And his head, finely chiselled in teak,
While Bodger awoke in the skin of a bloke,
Broke his heart for the rest of the week!

Top Jimmy

Some friends of mine, just the other night,
Went to hear this cool cat blow.
The say he sang so good that the roof fell in,
And they didnt even stop the show.
They dont remember the place, but they remember the face,
And now everybody wanna go.
Chorus:
Top jimmy cooks, top jimmy swings.
Hes got the look. top jimmy, hes the king.
Jimmy on the television, famous people laughing with him,
Jimmy on the news at five.
Jimmy on the radio and even on the video,
That baddest cat alive.
Driving all the women crazy, only want jimmy-baby,
Love it when he rolls his eyes.
Chorus
(guitar solo)
Juke-joint jimmy is the latest thing,
Hes got the sound that everybody digs.

Sally Maclennane

Well jimmy played harmonica in the pub where I was born
He played it from the night time to the peaceful early morn
He soothed the souls of psychos and the men who had the horn
And they all looked very happy in the morning
Now jimmy didnt like his place in this world of ours
Where the elephant man broke strong mens necks
When hed had too many powers
So sad to see the grieving of the people that hes leaving
And he took the road for God knows in the morning
We walked him to the station in the rain
We kissed him as we put him on the train
And we sang him a song of times long gone
Though we knew that wed be seeing him again
(far away) sad to say I must be on my way
So buy me beer and whiskey cause Im going far away (far away)
Id like to think of me returning when I can
To the greatest little boozer and to sally maclennane
The years passed by the times had changed I grew to be a man
I learned to love the virtues of sweet sally maclennane
I took the jeers and drank the beers and crawled back home at dawn
And ended up a barman in the morning
I played the pump and took the hump and watered whiskey down
I talked of whores and horses to the men who drank the brown
I heard them say that jimmys making money far away
And some people left for heaven without warning
We walked him to the station in the rain
We kissed him as we put him on the train
And we sang him a song of times long gone
Though we knew that wed be seeing him again
(far away) sad to say I must be on my way
So buy me beer and whiskey cause Im going far away (far away)
Id like to think of me returning when I can
To the greatest little boozer and to sally maclennane
When jimmy came back home he was surprised that they were gone
He asked me all the details of the train that they went on
Some people they are scared to croak but jimmy drank until he choked
And he took the road for heaven in the morning
We walked him to the station in the rain
We kissed him as we put him on the train
And we sang him a song of times long gone
Though we knew that wed be seeing him again
(far away) sad to say I must be on my way

Sure Got Cold After The Rain Fell

Album: Sharp Dressed Men: A Tribute To ZZ Top
(Billy F. Gibbons)
Rain fell this mornin',
Made me feel so bad
On account of my baby
Walked off with another man.
Like takin' eyesight from the blind man
And money from the poor
That woman took my lovin'
And walked on out that door
And it sure got cold after the rain fell
Not from the sky, from my eye
--- Instrumental ---
Somebody tell me
Makes a man feel this way
Like a river without water,
Like night without day
And it sure got cold after the rain fell
Not from the sky, from my eye
--- Instrumental ---
Started early in the mornin'
You hear that rain to fall
With thunderbolts and lightning
The wind begins to call
Your worry's superficial
'Cause you slept on through the night
But stormy weather keeps you wond'rin'
If ev'rything's all right
And it sure got cold after the rain fell
Not from the sky, but from my eye
Not from the sky, Lord from my eye
--- Instrumental ---
After the rain fell
And it sure got cold after the rain fell
And it sure got cold after the rain fell
After the rain fell
And it sure got cold...

The Lord of Misrule

In the London of James
We ran wild in the parks,
Assaulted the toffs,
Ruled the streets after dark,
We slit many noses,
Ungirdled each wench,
And lifted their kirtles on
Many a park bench.

They called us the Mohocks
We rambled each street,
Tipped many a chair
On its side in the street,
Caused mayhem and riot
And ran with the sword,
Put pastors to pleas
On their knees to the Lord!

When Christmas, it came in
A quiver of white,
We’d shiver, and wander
The streets every night,
While citizens revelled,
Stayed home, rich and poor,
Heaped coals at the hearth,
Locked and bolted each door.

‘The fun has gone out of it, ’
Grumbled Long Will,
‘There’s no head to punch,
And no Doxie to spill,
The streets are quite empty
And quiet as the tomb,
There’ll be no glad rioting
This night, or soon! ’

So Bodger and Catchpenny,
Long Will and Gull,
Stood frowning at Patrick
Who scratched at his skull,
‘This time of the season
They’re playing the fool,
So let us join in with
The Lord of Misrule! ’

They stood up, delighted
And mad as a coot,
They capered and cantered
And Will played the flute,
Gull got him a Tabor and
Beat it with glee,
Destroyed all the silence
In disharmony!

While Patrick broke in to
An old Players Shoppe,
For Motley and nightsticks,
A barrel of Hock,
Then came out all dressed
As the veriest fool,
And bowed to us gently,
The Lord of Misrule!

We swaggered on down to the
Church in the Dell,
While Patrick had jangled
The hat with its bell,
Then led our procession
In riot, alas,
Right down to the altar
In time for High Mass.

The preacher looked grim
As he halted his prayer,
The whole congregation
Sat just as they were,
They knew of the Mohocks
And not one would rise,
At risk of the beating
They saw in our eyes.

The church was so ancient,
Lay under the Moon,
And barely three candles
Were lighting the gloom,
The tombs of Crusaders
Lay hallowed in there,
Each corner a knight,
And his lady, so fair!

So Patrick went up to
The altar, the fool,
Said: ‘I am your master,
The Lord of Misrule!
And you will go down
In your penance to me,
Or preacher, you’ll hang
From the mistletoe tree! ’

The preacher, he blustered,
The preacher, he fell,
The people, they scattered
Like hounds before hell,
The church was soon empty
And grim in the dark,
Then Gull became nervous –
‘It’s only a lark! ’

The doors slammed behind us
The candles went out,
The Crusader banners cast
Shadows of doubt,
And then came a creaking
Of time and old sin,
And something was moving
That shouldn’t have been!

The knights on their headstones
Had lurched to their feet,
Came lumbering on from
Their centuries sleep,
With shields at the ready and
Swords in the air,
They swung at our revels
Through Catchpenny’s hair.

I watched as poor Bodger
Was cleft at the front,
Before his head toppled,
Fell into the font,
While Will caught a thrust
From the next knight behind,
That sliced through his ribcage
And shattered his spine.

Then Gull I heard scream as
I raced for the door,
Flew in at the vestry
And hid on the floor,
The Preacher was nowhere,
He’d fled from the scene,
The moment the knights had
Creaked up from their dream!

When morning broke early
I slunk through the dawn,
Went back to my lodgings
And tried to get warm,
For outside the church, on the
Cross, like a fool,
And hanging in chains was
The Lord of Misrule!

Shadow & Jimmy

Shadow and jimmy were always yesterdays news
Jimmys a bowler, shadow rents out his green bowling shoes
Late friday night when the bars are all shuttered and dark
He shadows back jimmy to the lot in the lost trailer park
For shadow and jimmy all the weekends end up the same
If its saturday night, then it must be the hockey game
After cold beer and barbecued ribs the night is complete
With wrestling stories and elegant bones
That are tired of walking and on their way home
Chorus
And they talk about the women
And they look at the girls
Theyll never know the ways of the world
Theyve got a mouthful of much obliged
And a handful of gimme
And the love for each other
Of shadow and jimmy
For shadow and jimmy now the story is told
Theres nothing to hold on to and no one to hold
Men without women are like fish without
Water to swim in
With their eyes bugging out
They flop on the beach
And look up at the girls
Who are just out of reach

Jimmy Gillum

I was raised up on the west side of town
That's where I met Jimmy Gillum
Baddest man around
He'd rather fight than eat
Mister That's no lie
If you cross him up smile and wave goodbye
Bad bad Jimmy baddest man alive
He was dynamite in a small pack
His fuse was short
He didn't cut no slack
Oh that Jimmy Gillum was a bad cat
Chorus:
Talk about trouble
You talk about mean
Jimmy was the baddest cat I've ever seen
You talk about trouble
Should've been his name
Jimmy never pulled a punch
He was a fightin' machine
Yeah he was he was a fightin' machine
Now I recall one night at the Sugar Bowl
That's a honky tonk where Jimmy goes
Yeah the One Percent were burnin' up the stage
In walk Jimmy in a drunken daze
Ready to fight son in the worst way
So I ran for cover behind the stage
Bottles started flyin' I began to pray
Please oh Lord don't let him look my way
Chorus:
It's been years since I saw Jimmy last
When I pulled into a jiffy the other day
Just to get some gas
I heard this guy screamin' next to me
Turn on this pump you dirty s.o.b.
To my surprise it was Jimmy alive and well
Jumped in my car and took off fast
Knew in a minute he'd be kickin' ass
Oh that Jimmy Gillum was a bad cat
Chorus:
Yea he was talk about trouble, talk about trouble
Yeaaaaoooowwww talk about trouble
Yea that boy was bad to the bone talk about trouble
Play it boys sound good
Us Gillums never die we just fade away
Ummmmm trouble boy

Jimmy

Jimmy
It started out with a few misfortunes
His daddy ran off with some broad from the motown
When momma said we're leavin tomorrow
Jimmy already had his things together
So many days of thinking of the past
The girl he left behind and hangin out in the
free streets
Somehow Jimmy had survived his reflections
The broken glass in his hands, a noose before him
Said he did it before
He's gonna do it again
Give him a fix and a bottle and he won't complain
Until he's blue in the face
Jimmy's the leader of a losin' race
Hey Jimmy did you learn your lesson
You always know what you were missin'
Hey Jimmy did you solve the problem
Just a kid with no direction
Some people say it was fright that drove him
But Jimmy knows who's really scared of difference
The whipping boy won't take his beating
It only left them alone to their thinking
Of how he knew what they could never know
And he would live and learn to be himself
through his mistakes
Watch and laugh, pretend they were okay
Waiting for things to change is just another day
Said he did it before
He's gonna do it again
Give him a fix or a bottle and he won't complain
Until he's blue in the face
Jimmy's the leader of a losing race
Hey Jimmy did you learn your lesson
You always knew what you were missin'
Hey Jimmy did you solve the problem
Just a kid with no direction
Hey Jimmy don't you walk away
We'll look at life according to me
You're my life support auto biography
Hey Jimmy take a look inside
Let's take a chance, enjoy the ride
Impressions don't die
No one knew your story
Hey Jimmy did you learn you lesson
You always knew what you were missin' (Jimmy)
Hey Jimmy did you solve the problem
Just a kid with no direction (Jimmy)
Hey Jimmy did you learn your lesson
You always knew what you were missin' (Jimmy)
Hey Jimmy did you solve the problem

Hey Jimmy now your free

On The Road

My aunt lives over there
you said

and Jimmy looked
over the back

of the coal truck
to where you were pointing

and said
we must be far

from home then
if that’s where she lives

and you looked over
at the apartments

wondering if your aunt
was home or not

and the coal guy said
best keep your heads down boys

don’t want people wondering
what the heck you’re doing

in the back of a coal truck
and so you and Jimmy

got underneath
the tarpaulin

and the driver pulled away
to deliver more coal

and Jimmy said
if my old girl

knew I was here
she’d hit the roof

or worse
and you said

well it’s been an adventure
it got us out

of the block
and on the road

for a while
and when we get

back home
we best sneak

out of here
and hope to God

we ain’t covered
in that coal dust

all over out jeans
and tee-shirts and such

or we’ll be in for it
and outside

you could hear
the pitter patter of rain

on the tarpaulin
and imagined

you could hear
Jimmy’s mother’s

sharp angry voice
through the darkness calling.

Jimmy Sago, Jackaroo

If you want a situation, I'll just tell you the plan
To get on to a station, I am just your very man.
Pack up the old portmanteau, and label it Paroo,
With a name aristocratic—Jimmy Sago, Jackaroo.

When you get on to the station, of small things you'll make a fuss,
And in speaking of the station, mind, it's we, and ours, and us.
Boast of your grand connections and your rich relations, too
And your own great expectations, Jimmy Sago, Jackaroo.

They will send you out on horseback, the boundaries to ride
But run down a marsupial and rob him of his hide,
His scalp will fetch a shilling and his hide another two,
Which will help to fill your pockets, Jimmy Sago, Jackaroo.
Yes, to fill your empty pockets, Jimmy Sago, Jackaroo.

When the boss wants information, on the men you'll do a sneak,
And don a paper collar on your fifteen bob a week.
Then at the lamb-marking a boss they'll make of you.
Now that's the way to get on, Jimmy Sago, Jackaroo.

A squatter in the future I've no doubt you may be,
But if the banks once get you, they'll put you up a tree.
To see you humping bluey, I know, would never do,
'Twould mean good-bye to our new chum, Jimmy Sago, Jackaroo.
Yes, good-bye to our new chum, Jimmy Sago, Jackaroo.

Turn Around

Jimmy saw the sun chase away the night
It was a quarter past seven
His body warm like the morning light
Had to be in school by eleven

He told himself what they had done to him
That's why Jimmy never felt real sad
If only someone could have lent a hand
Things would have never turned out so bad

Who knows why black flies just live for one day
Who knows why
Hey turn around
It's time to wake up and go back to tell the story
Hey turn around
It's time to wake up and go back to tell the story now

Always sat alone in the back of the class
Because no one would take him
Today he stood in front of the rest
His hands were shaking

Who could have known what Jimmy thought
Never had a chance to speak his words out loud
The flies were burning in his head till
Jimmy let them all out

Who knows why black flies just live for one day
Who knows why

Hey turn around
It's time to wake up and go back to tell the story
Hey turn around
It's time to wake up and go back to tell the story now

It didn't pay to make fun of him
Too late to say

When The Night Comes Down

Jimmy got lost, in a schoolboy phase
You see the lines got crossed, at a young and tender age
He dropped out of school, and the new crowd hed meet
He left his broken home, for a new life, out on the street
See the young boys laugh, gettin high on a midnight run
Theyve got it all figure out, they dont need no help
From anyone
Jimmy never knew real love in his heart
No feelings remain
Somehow he knew hed never be a part
So alone with his pain
When the night comes down
Out there on the streets, so many sad, sad stories
When the night comes down
Theyre runnin out of hope, in this land of glory
Theyre runnin in the night
See the young boy cry, hes cryin out, all alone
And the hurt inside, hes gotta face it all on his own
And the church bells ring, and the lord is praised
But they aint got time for jimmy, on their holy, holy days
Jimmy never felt real love in his heart
No feelings remain
Somehow he knew hed never be a part
So alone with his pain
When the night comes down
Out there on the streets, so many sad, sad stories
When the night comes down
Theyre runnin out of hope, in this land of glory
When the night comes down
Its a cold hearted town, nothin but a battleground
And theyre runnin out of hope, ooh, when the night
Comes down
On this battleground
So many, so many sad, sad stories
You can see it every night
When the night comes down
See the young boy cry

Row Jimmy

Julie catch a rabbit by his hair
Come back steppin like to walk on air
Get back home where you belong
And dont you run off no more.
Dont hang your head, let the two time roll
Grass shack nailed to a pine wood floor
Ask the time baby I dont know
Come back later, gonna let it show.
I say row jimmy row, gonna get there, I dont know,
Seems a common way to go, get out and row, row, row, row, row.
Heres a half dollar if you dare
Double twist when you hit the air,
Look at julie down below,
The levee doin the do-pas-o.
I say row jimmy row, gonna get there, I dont know
Seems a common way to go, get out and row, row, row, row, row.
Broken heart dont feel so bad,
You aint got half of what you thought you had.
Rock you baby to and fro
Not too fast and not too slow.
I say row jimmy row, gonna get there, I dont know,
Seems a common way to go, get out and row, row, row, row, row.
Thats the way its been in town,
Ever since they tore the jukebox down.
Two bit piece dont buy no more,
Not so much as it done before.
I say row jimmy row, gonna get there I dont know
Seems a common way to go, get out and row, row, row, row, row.

It was a light coming down from the sky.

Whose saucer shaped light, put people uptight.
Leave blue green footprints that glow in the dark.
I hope they get home alright.

Won't you please take me along.
I won't do anything wrong.
Hey mr. spaceman,
Won't you please take me along for the ride.

Trick Bag

12:00 o' clock at night--you walk out the door.
You told me baby--you were going to the drug-store.
Well, in my mind, I knew you were lying;
The drug-store closed at a quarter to nine.
I say I saw you kissing Jimmy across the fence,
I heard you telling Jimmy I ain't got no sense.
The way you've been acting is such a drag;
You done put me in a trick-bag.
When I come home, start an argument,
Just to keep you from asking where my voodoo went.
Peep out the front door--I hear the back door slam.
I peek out of my window--somebody's taking it on the lam.
I say I saw you kissing Jimmy across the fence,
I heard you telling Jimmy I ain't got no sense.
The way you've been acting is such a drag;
You done put me in a trick-bag.
We had a fight, then you got mad;
Got on the telephone--called your mom and dad.
Dad said, "She's my daughter and I'm her pa,
And you ain't nothing but a son-in-law."
I say I saw you kissing Jimmy across the fence,
I heard you telling Jimmy I ain't got no sense.
The way you've been acting is such a drag;
You done put me in a trick-bag.
Yeah, yeah x4

From You......

an idea always comes from
all of you, a chat early this morning

the wind outside is cold and the rain has
not subsided it
the road is empty and the leaves scatter
there

jimmy is starting the engine of his motorcycle
his girlfriend met an accident last night

my window is open
since last night and some rain came in but i did not really mind it

i look at myself in the mirror in the bathroom after i have taken my bath
of hot water

my body is another wasted material
my face is like a sinking boat in the water
my eyes like a drowning child

time has judged me like an unforgiving father
to a prodigal son

i have freed myself from some shackles but i have never used
that freedom too well

there are stories of murder and regrets after
and they shall remain always ready to be told

Great Rain

Great rain great rain
I thought I heard you call my name
Great rain great rain
I thought I heard you call my name
I was standing in the station
Waving down an unmarked train
Theres a fire at the junction
Why do you do the things you do
Theres a fire at the junction
Why do you do the things you do
I was praying for mercy
And all he ever sent me was you
Jimmy bought the liquor
I bought the cups and ice
Jimmy bought the liquor
I bought the cups and ice
I tell you funny stories
Why cant you treat me nice
Great rain great rain
I thought I heard you call my name
Great rain great rain
I thought I heard you calling my name
I was standing by the river
Talking to a young mark twain.

Jimmy Neutron Theme

Jimmy Neutron Theme
Bowling For Soup
(Jimmy Neutron)
From here to the stars,
With my candy bars,
Rides a kid
With a knack
For inventions.
A super-powered mind,
A mechanical canine,
He rescues the day
From sure destruction.
He's gotta save the world
And get to school on time,
So many things to do
And not much time
So off the ground,
Up in the air,
Out into the atmoshpere,
Who can we count on?
Jimmy Neutron!
Who can we count on?
Jimmy Neutron!
Who can we count on?
Jimmy Neutron!
No matter where you are,
You know he can't be far,
Watching the world
Through x-ray vision
And whenever he's around,
Where adventure can be found,
You know that Jimmy Neutron's
On a mission
He's gotta save the world
And get to school on time,
So many things to do
And not much time
So off the ground,
Up in the air,
Out into the atmoshpere,
Who can we count on?
Jimmy Neutron!
Who can we count on?
Jimmy Neutron!
Who can we count on?
Jimmy Neutron!
Who can we count on?
Jimmy Neutron!
Who can we count on?
Jimmy Neutron!
Who can we count on?
It's Jimmy Neutron!

From A Happening At The Bayswater

Were I a bard or storyteller some great stories I could tell
Of the happenings at Bayswater in the Bayswater Hotel
You don't have to buy a ticket if you want to watch a fight
Just call to Hotel Bayswater there's one there most every night.

If you hate the sight of brawling Basy pub is not for you
Fellows disagree and fight there beat each other black and blue
They don't fight in there for purses not one half penny at stake
They just fight for love of fighting just for fight and fighting sake.

Last week's big fight was a ripper it turned out a super show
Hugh Murdoch and Jim 'Tiger' Ellis slugged it out hard toe to toe
Hughie Murdoch came out winning he laid Jimmy's colours low
But he failed to knockout Tiger the decision t.k.o.

Jimmy had a painful evening he was often on the floor
But he did not let his fans down he rose up and fought some more
He was cut his nose was bleeding 'next day he must have felt sore'
You can whip and cage a Tiger but you can't stop that tiger roar.

Jimmy took his beating sporting and that's not hard to understand
He's a man he doesn't hold grudges he shook Hughie Murdoch's hand
And that's why we like Jimmy Ellis we admire the man a lot
When he's finished with his fighting all forgiven and forgot.

Hughie is bigger than Jimmy and outweighed him pound for pound
But small Jimmy kept on battling did not yield an inch of ground
And though this time he lost the battle Jim did not let his fans down
Little Tiger Jimmy Ellis he has carved his own renown.

He's some character Jim Ellis he's been there and he's done that
And he is known throughout Australia from Queensland to Ballarat
When he's sober he's a top bloke good as one could wish to meet
But when he's drunk he turns to Tiger booze it changes him complete.

This one story from Bayswater from the Bayswater Hotel
And were I a bard or story writer I'd have many more to tell
But I am just a common drainer just an old fart my workmates say
And I push shovel for a living just to earn a living pay.

Lourdes 2006

Jimmy opened his suitcase in the room
at Lourdes and said Oh no there's molasses
all over the clothes and shoes and I've got

a whole week here and he sat down in a chair
his head in his hands saying What have I done?
What am I going to do for clothes now? you

went over and looked in and sure enough
the molasses were over his clothes and shoes.
What am I going to do? he said and you said

Leave it to me Jim I'll sort it and you went through
the clothes taking out the items untouched
by the molasses and set them aside on the bed

and then carried the suitcase of black sticky items
Into the washroom and there one by one you carefully
washed them through with soap and water until

they were clean and smelt of soap and fresh air
and all the while 94 year old Jim sat in a chair
watching with his eyes watery and jaw hung loose

seeing the black water run down the wide plughole
and once it was done you wrung the clothes out
like your mother used to do when you were a kid

and hung them out on the balcony on the small
clothesline and placed the washed out black shoes
by the outside wall to dry out in the hot afternoon

sun and Jimmy came over and stood on the balcony
with one hand on the rail and the other on his stick
looking over at the Pyrenees in the distance and he

said That was real good of you. I owe you big time
and you stood next to him feeling the hot afternoon
sun on your face and arms and felt good and you

said You owe me nothing Jim I just did what some
good guy would and his watery eyes swept over you
matching the French sky's watery afternoon blue.

I Wish It Would Rain

(randy travis/ ron avis)
Its the last thing I needed
On a star-filled night
The one who broke my heart
Comin into sight
Walkin hand-in-hand with the one who holds her now
I feel the hurt returning and if only somehow
I wish it would rain
I wish it would rain
Oh, lord
So she wont see
What shes doing to me
Come on, now, sky
Be a friend to these eyes
And I know that i
Cant hold back the pain
I wish it would rain
Its been too long now
To hurt me so bad
But the love that we shared
Was the best that Ive had
And my tear drops will fall when they go walkin by
Theres no place to turn
And no place to hide
I wish it would rain
I wish it would rain
Oh, lord
So she wont see
What shes doing to me
Come on, now, sky
Be a friend to these eyes
And I know that i
Cant hold back the pain
I wish it would rain
I know that i
Cant hold back the pain
I wish it would rain
