The Pilot Who Never Came Back

The mist was rolling in clouds, opaque
As I hurried along the line,
Looking for A3-22
The Mirage of Lieutenant Devine,
There wasn't much hope of flying time
If the weather didn't improve,
But I still had an Instrument Pre-Flight
‘Just in case, ' said the Duty Crew.

‘You never know with Devine, ' they said,
‘He'd fly in a howling gale,
At the first swift burst of sunlight, he'll
Be sitting right here on your tail,
Trying to give you the hurry-ups
As you strap him into the seat,
A bit of a caution is Jack Devine…'
‘A pain in the arse, ' said Skeet.

Skeet was the Armament Fitter that
I found under 22,
Fitting the Matra Missile there,
And a sidewinder, or two.
‘Where the hell is he going, this
Is more than a training run! '
‘He's going on out to the firing range
Out there, past Avalon! '

Devine appeared in the mist, while
Taking the pitot covers off,
I pulled all the undercarriage pins
As he gave me the hurry-up,
‘I'm going the moment the mist has cleared,
So do what you have to do! '
I climbed in, ran up the gyro's
Checked out the auto-pilot, too.

He wouldn't wait for a moment
So I threaded his lanyards through,
Pulled out the Martin-Baker pin
And held it out for his view,
He sat on the live ejection seat
Took whiffs of the oxygen,
And sat impatient, drumming his feet
‘Til a little bit after ten.

I stood by the guy on the battery cart
To wait for the mist to clear,
The pilot gave thumbs up for a start
We could finally disappear,
We watched him heading off down the strip
With a roar like an avatar,
And headed on back to the duty hut,
‘He'll be back in less than an hour! '

We grabbed a coffee, an hour went by,
But still no sign of Devine,
The Gunny had given a meaningful look,
He was cutting it more than fine,
He wasn't fitted with dropp tanks, so
An hour was all that he'd got,
We phoned the guys in the tower, and asked,
‘Is he overdue, or what? '

It was then that A3-22
Came screaming over the strip,
Smoke was streaming out of its tail,
Black as a coal mine pit,
He turned and landed, the fire trucks
Were waiting to put it out,
A pool of kerosine lay in the tail,
As Devine came tumbling out.

His face was thunderous, back in the hut
Where he signed the duty log,
But he kept his visor firmly shut,
Then turned, and he just stalked off,
I didn't see him again, but heard
He'd tried to report us all,
He blamed the erks for the whole damn works,
Said the engine nearly stalled.

He left the following morning for
Another Miracle flight,
We didn't go out to look for him
‘Til the day turned into night,
We never discovered his plane at all,
It's missing still, at sea,
But his wife was down in the hospital,
And that was what interested me.

She'd been admitted with cuts and scrapes
And scratches down to her feet,
They said that she was hysterical,
Was babbling in white heat,
‘I haven't a clue who that pilot was
Dressed in my husband's clothes,
But it wasn't my Jack Devine, ' she said,
‘And I think that a wife would know! '

She said he'd taken her there by force,
And raked her body with claws,
He'd bitten her shoulder ‘til it bled,
She couldn't fathom the cause.
He'd looked like her husband, walking in,
But then his body had changed,
‘He looked like he had a scaly skin
And his face was rearranged! '

The last that I heard of Jean Devine
Was in June, the following year,
She'd gone to deliver her baby
But was shaking in dread, and fear,
They told her that it had been stillborn
And refused to show her its face,
Or the tiny body scales it had,
Unknown to the human race!

Somebody Up There Likes Me

Let the lies go
Let...
Hes everybodys token, on everybodys wall
Blessing all the papers, thanking one and all
Hugging all the babies, kissing all the ladies
Knowing all that you think about from writing on the wall
Hes so divine, his soul shines
Breaks the night, sleep tight
His ever loving face smiles on the whole human race
He says Im somebody
Hes got his eye on your soul, his hand on your heart
He says dont hurry, baby
Somebody up there (somebody) likes me
Hes the savage son of the tv tube
Planets wrote the day was due
All the wisest men around
Predicted that a man was found
Who looked a lot like you and me, yeah
Everyone with sense could see
Nothing left his eye unmoved, he
Had the plan, he had to use
(somebody) hes so divine (oh oh) his soul shines
(somebody) breaks the night, sleep tight
(somebody up there, somebody)
His ever loving face (oh oh) smiles on the whole human race (somebody somebody somebody up there)
(somebody)
Hes got his eye on your soul, (oh oh) his hand on your heart
He says dont hurry, baby
Somebody up there (somebody)
Somebody plays my song in tune
Makes me, makes me, makes me stronger for you, babe
Was a way when we were young, that
Any man was judged by what hed done
But now you pick them on the screen (what they look like)
Where theyve been
Hes got his eye on your soul, his hand on your heart
He says (dont hurry, baby) dont hurry baby
Somebody up there (somebody) please go (oh oh)
And who are the people
That given time, please go (somebody somebody)
Tell me, can they hold you under their spell (oh oh)
Can they walk and hold you as well as a
Smile like valentino?
Could he sell you anything?
(somebody somebody)
Keep your eyes on your soul,(oh oh) keep your hand on your heart
(dont hurry me baby)
Dont hurry, baby
Somebody up there (somebody) likes me
(somebody, somebody, somebody)
(somebody, somebody, somebody, somebody, somebody, somebody)
Somebody (somebody) somebody (somebody) somebody (somebody, somebody)
Somebody (somebody) somebody (somebody) somebody (somebody, somebody)
Cant remember (somebody) peace so well
Oh, space to ramble, (somebody, somebody) space to boogie
Soul shine (ooh-ooh)
So divine
Somebody (ooh-ooh, somebody)
Soul shine (ooh-ooh)
So divine
Somebody (ooh-ooh)
Somebody, somebody, somebody
Yeah, get me man, place your man
Get me man, space your man
Get me man, space your man

So devine

Sea Of Heartbreak (feat. George Strait)

Jimmy:
The lights in the harbor
don't shine for me.
I'm like a lost ship
lost on the sea.
The sea of heartbreak,
lost love and loneliness,
memories of your caress,
so devine, I wish you were mine
again my dear.
I'm on a sea of tears
a sea of heartbreak.
George Strait:
How did I lose you?
Where did I fail?
Why did you leave me?
Always to sail.
The sea of heartbreak,
lost love and loneliness,
memories of your caress,
so devine, I wish you were mine
again my dear.
I'm on a sea of tears
a sea of heartbreak.
Both:
Oh what I'd give
to sail back to shore.
Back to your arms once more.
Jimmy:
So come to my rescue,
come here to me.
Both:
Take me and keep me
Jimmy:
away from this sea.
Both:
This sea of heartbreak,
lost love and loneliness,
memories of your caress,
so devine, I wish you were mine
again my dear.
I'm on a sea of tears
a sea of heartbreak.
This sea of heartbreak.

The beauty of nature

She was called forth by His devine voice,
created by the power of His speech.
she's the beauty of His devine work,
peacefull and lovely filled with bliss.

her beauty holds perfection,
her joy knows no detention.
the softness of her voice is highly felt,
we are mesmerized by her pleasant scent.

trees growing at the river side,
bliss flowing at the viewer's mind.
waters flowing at the river banks,
quenching the thirst from the drinker's heart.

animal moving together at homes and wild,
birds flying, feeling the beauty of the sky.
plants growing preserving life,
people living preserving plants.

the beauty of nature cannot be fully introspected,
for the beauty of her mystery is fully perfected
by that devine hand who cared for us with love
there is no gift as nature,
for she's our rise and fall.

Payback!

We'd flown on up from Townsville
To patrol the northern gulf,
It was just a routine flight, and we
Felt lazy, after lunch,
With a pale blue sky above us
And an azure sea below,
I just felt like turning turtle,
Napping out, while things were slow.

I remember that the Beatles came
Across the intercom,
Sang a song from Sergeant Peppers
Of some Lonely Hearts Club Band,
I was down there in the nose cone
Strapped and buckled to my seat,
Feeling warm and safe and cozy
In the tropics, in the heat.

While down in Carpentaria
The water was sublime,
We'd flown this great expanse before
A hundred, thousand times
Looking out for those illegals,
Indonesian fishing boats,
Fishing in our charted waters,
Stealing fish from round our coast.

There were seven in the Neptune,
We were short on crew that day,
Just the Captain and co-pilot
And a Navigator, Ray,
The Rad-tech keeping cover
On the sonar, 'Jezebel',
The others taking turns on M.A.D.,
The stinger in the tail.

While I was the Observer, and
I should have been alert,
Keeping watch on the horizon,
There was nothing to report,
I could hear the others mumble
Through the sleepy afternoon,
Then a bell went off, the 'Snifter'
And it galvanized the crew.

The Captain ordered 'Sonar' and
We blasted off a buoy,
Flew on a dozen miles or so
Then dropped another toy,
The 'Jezebel' was chattering
And M.A.D. was cutting in,
Its Anomaly Detection showed
A fish - but made of tin.

I scanned to the horizon but
Saw nothing in my view,
Reported to the Captain, he
Barked orders to the crew,
The Rad-tech on the 'Jezebel'
Yelled, 'Whoopee - listen Bub,
I'm reading off a Russian code,
We've got ourselves a sub! '

I felt the nose begin to dip,
And roll toward the port,
It looked like we were going down
To check the Russian out,
When suddenly a water spout
Appeared from down below,
I yelled up through the intercom:
'Missile - Missile - Go! '

It only seemed a moment that
I braced myself, and then,
The nose-cone shattered, opened up
And left me hanging there,
The wind was like a howling gale
And took my breath away,
I hit the buckles, twisted round
And made for the crawlway.

They pulled me through the tunnel
Bleeding cuts across my face,
'What happened, are we going in? '
No-one was game to say,
The pilot pulled back on the stick
And took her round to port,
'The missile just glanced off us,
Or we wouldn't be here, Sport! '

I heard the Captain rage and swear
Across the intercom,
'That bastards got it coming, he
Won't know where it's coming from! '
We're not supposed to fire on them
The U.N. won't be chuffed,
But after that, I think he knows
That all the bets are off! '

The Neppy brought its nose around
And set off in pursuit,
We dropped two other sonar buoys,
The sub was heading out,
At just above a thousand feet
He said, 'Just let her rip! '
And dropped a dozen depth charges
On that Russian ship.

The water just erupted in
An agony of white,
A swirling burst of bubbles said
Our targeting was right,
And then a long, black shape had leapt
Nose first up from the sea,
We saw it had a broken back,
It sank there, instantly.

We limped our way to Katherine
And landed in the gloom,
A host of men in suits were there,
They shut us in a room,
Then all of us were made to sign
Some forms before we left,
Headed - 'The Official Secrets Act',
They scared us half to death.

I think that I can tell you now,
It's forty years this year,
That in the placid waters of
Gulf Carpentaria,
There lies a sunken, rusted wreck,
A Hammer-Sickle crest,
That took on a single Neptune there,
And well... you know the rest!

Die Romantic

You Look Fabulous In Your Dark Dress Tongiht
Your Black Lipstick Calling Me To You Like A Magic Spell
The Only Thing That You Disliked Is The Light
Tonight We'll Meet Our Master Satan and Reign In Hell

I Walk Up To You My Black Hair Covering My Dark Eyes
I'm Dressed In A Blood Staind Tuxedo
I've Already Put On My Black Eyeliner I'm Also Wearing My Red Tie
Where Not Fit For This Life Of Secrets and Incognito

We'll Drown This Poison With Cheap Wine
We'll Drink It From Our Cups Devine
Tonight We'll Die Romantic
Plus For This Murder Scene Where Fanatics

We'll Put The Poison On Our Lips and Kiss It Off
Soon The Nightmare People Call Life Will Be Over For Us
It'll First Start Off As Just A Light Cough
This Will Be A Slow Painful Death We'll Enjoy It This Won't Be Rushed

We Finish The Battle Of Wine and Open Another One
All We Can Do Now Is Wait and Laugh About Are Soon To Be Bodies
Normally People Would Be Scared Of This Outcome Where Just Having Fun
Look At Us Enjoying Our Last Few Hours We're Being So Haughty

We'll Drown This Poison With Cheap Wine
We'll Drink It From Our Cups Devine
Tonight We'll Die Romantic
Plus For This Murder Scene Where Fanatics

We See The Sun Coming Up As We Began To Laugh At Each Other
This Will Be The Last Sunrise We'll Ever Get To See
Our Lips Now Covered In Blood Soon I'll Cease To Be The Big Brother
Now That It's Almost Time I Propose To You On One Knee

We'll Be Dead Lovers You Laugh and Say Yes
With Our Last Dying Breath We Give Each Other A Kiss
Soon We'll Be Six Feet Under Laid To Rest
It Happend Just How It Should've Just Like This

We'll Drown This Poison With Cheap Wine
We'll Drink It From Our Cups Devine
Tonight We'll Die Romantic
Plus For This Murder Scene Where Fanatics

The Spitfire

‘Scramble! '
‘Take the lead, Blue Leader, '
Spat the voice on the R/T,
While the ground crew pulled the chocks
Another plugged the battery,
Then the prop was turning over
And the Merlin roared to life
As the pilot, Michael Adams,
Kissed the picture of his wife!

They had only just been married
On a sudden 36,
They had just one night together
Then raced back to face the blitz,
She to work the board, the plotter,
He to fly, and do his best,
There were twelve of them together
Flying over Sheerness!

There were Dorniers and Junkers
Who were raiding from Beauvais,
There were Heinkel One-Elevens,
Also heading London's way,
Then the R/T sprang to life again
‘Blue Leader, change your course,
There are Stuka's bombing shipping
In the channel, off the coast! '

So the flight in V-formation
Turned to face the rabid Hun,
Climbed to 30,000 feet,
Were almost blinded by the sun,
But they ran into the Heinkels
And they peeled off and they dived,
And of thirty German bombers
Only seventeen survived.

Then the Messerschmitts arrived just like
A swarm of angry gnats,
And Michael had to loop and dive
To shake one off his back,
He pulled in close behind
A lagging Me 109,
Gave a seven second burst, and watched
The German hit the brine.

Jenny moved the counters as
Intelligence came in,
The Controller spoke in earnest
To the R/T microphone,
He relayed information
To the girls around the chart,
‘We've lost two Spits from Blue Flight,
Jimmy ‘D' and Peter Sparks! '

Then Jenny bit her lip to keep
Composed all through the day,
She dreaded that her husband's name
Be mentioned in that way,
She knew the odds were final
And that few of them survived,
Who took that burst of cannon shells,
Flipped over, burned and dived.

While out there in the universe
The everlasting sun,
Was busy flinging solar flares
At earth, as from a gun,
They magnetised the atmosphere
And swirled in colours bright,
Aurora Borealis
Also called ‘The Northern Lights! '

When Michael found his ammo done
He turned and left the fray,
He climbed and still he climbed
Until the Germans fell away,
He heard a voice start singing
In the silence all around,
It sounded like an angel
Or like Jenny, on the ground!

The daylight disappeared and he
Hung up there in his Spit,
The nose was in a climb, but it
Just floated, out of it,
The Merlin roared then sputtered
But it hung there in the air,
While swirls of brilliant colour
Tinged the atmosphere there!

While back at Biggin Hill the Spits
Returned about that time,
The crew expected ten, but when
They counted, there was nine.
‘It seems that Michael Adams
Has gone missing on the day,
Let's hope he's in the channel…'
Jenny wiped a tear away!

The years went flashing by her
And she visited her son,
And the grandson she adored
Who sat there playing with his gun,
But the paper lay there open
With a picture on page five,
Of a Spitfire that had landed,
And the pilot was alive!

‘Yes, I saw that, ' murmured Duncan,
‘And his name is just like ours,
He's some nut who just flew in,
Said he's from out among the stars.'
Then the widow Jenny started
And she said: ‘It just can't be!
But why's a Spitfire landing here
In 1983? '

Black Gold

The Dad was dour, his face was sour
When he came home from the pit,
He looked like a furnace stoker but
That wasn't the half of it…
His fists were like a couple of hams
And he used the blighters, too,
The Mam would hear his foot on the step
And hurry to serve his stew.

She wore his bruises over her face,
Her arms and her legs and more,
I'd seen her body all over then
For I was coming-up four,
I'd watched the blood run down her leg
As she cleaned herself with a rag,
Whenever he'd come home roaring drunk,
Use Mam as a punching bag!

My sister Else was barely ten
When he made her work at the pit,
She struggled to push a cart of coal
Until she was almost sick.
The manager was a brutal man
With a knotted, leather strap,
If Else was slow or got vertigo
He'd lay it across her back!

I never heard Mam complain to him,
I guess that she didn't dare,
She'd rub some cream into Else's wounds
And run a brush through her hair.
‘It's hard, but you'll toughen up, my girl,
He said, as a sort of scold,
‘You'd better respect what we're mining here,
Just think of it as Black Gold! '

‘Think of it as Black Gold, ' he'd said…
(The sort that gets into your pores,
The dust that gives you a crippled lung
And your skin gets covered in sores.
The cough that's keeping the house awake
When everyone needs to sleep,
The sulphur smell round the chimney-piece
As you watch your mother weep!)

He dragged me out, and he took me in
When I was only eight,
He said, ‘Now look here, fella-me-lad,
It's time that you pulled your weight! '
They started me at tuppence a day
And sat me down in the shaft,
I had to open and close a trap
To help to create the draught.

The hours were long, the days were long
We worked a twelve hour shift,
It took me an hour to get to the face,
Clambering over the drift,
I didn't get time to go to school,
Still sign my name with an ‘x',
But I'm learning now at the Institute
Just to try for a little respect!

When I was ten, they sent me down
With a pick to the old coal face,
Where miners hammered and banged like hell
And they tried to make me race,
Poor Else, still pushing the trucks of coal,
Her back had formed in a hump,
The boys would whistle and jeer at her
For her legs were like two stumps.

New-fangled ships were coming in,
The ones of steel and steam,
‘It's only good for the working man, '
The Dad said: ‘Good for the team! '
But some of the stopes were caving in
The mine was in full retreat,
We'd pull what pillars of coal were left
And send them up to the street.

The Dad was working the furthest pitch
While Else sat crippled and old,
She'd ripped a tendon and looked quite lost
As she sat by a pillar of coal,
She waved me away to the further stope
And attacked the coal with a pick,
The pillar came suddenly crashing down
And the roof - it followed it!

I never saw Mam cry for The Dad,
She cried for our Else instead,
‘She never had much of a life at all,
I'm glad the old bugger's dead! '
Now the years have passed, and I understand
That The Dad was true to his kind,
He never had much of a chance at all
And he's buried, still in the mine!

Returning To Fairyland (Somewhere In Fantsayland)

As I gazed into the
distance. From out of
nowhere a tiny person
appeared. He called my
name over and over again.
Yaro, Yarro!
A name I remember from
childhood.

I was taken back to
another place in time.
To another love devine.
Days of laughter, romping
in the green meadows, lying
in his arms, kissing his
face so tenderly. Oh, face
of yesterday.

Suddenly this little fairy
took flight, landing on my
finger.Grabbed a hand full
of fairy dust, tossed it in
my eyes. I was temporarily
blinded.

As I opened my eyes, a garden
of beautiful roses appeared.
One rose more lovely than the
other. As I viewed the scene,
to my surprise, nestled in the
blossoms, sat the flowers of
my heart.My Red, white, pink,
yellow, and coral roses making
up my hearts bouquet.Waiting
for my return.

Sitting in the far distance,
I noticed a black rose, rare,
new and handsome. Could this
be my fairy man? The one I have
always searched for.

A wonderful gift from God,
the giver of joy filled with joy.
She's the ultimate source of happiness,
shining the light of love filled with goodness.

A strong lion protecting her cub,
from the evil of the outside world.
A devine protector,
sent from above by the creator.

She's the great iroko tree,
spreading life to her branches in a wink.
She's the sun,
brightning the days of her sons.

I hail you! giver of joy
for spreading your light filled with love.
You have brought joy to my world,
life is felt by your devine touch.

I pray and long for the day when i bring joy to that face which has show me love since the begining of days.

Sonnet 10

Hold me closely my love!
I need you so ever near me.
You are all I ever dream of.
One day soon you will see.
Your body heat with mine,
Yes we meet once again.
The love you give how devine!
This feeling will never end.
Candle light burning tonight,
Those brown eyes I adore.
Such a beautiful delight.
I can't help but want more.
The pounding of my heart!
Yes! I wanted you from the start.

Second chance

It feels like its the first time..
It feels just like the first time..... I feel like I'm frozen in time
I feel that pure love devine.......

You wrapped your arms around me..
Your telling me this is your second chance..

You picked me up when I was broken.
You touched my heart and made whole again...

This time it feels I have forgotten about all the pain

It feels just like the first time..... I feel like I'm frozen in time. I feel that pure love devine......

You wrapped your arms around me..
Your telling me this is your second chance..

You picked me up when I was broken.
You touched my heart and made whole again...

Thinking of the past that is behind me, it makes me stronger..
Can I destroy those thoughts in my head? Those lies telling me your not whole again...........

It feels like its the first time..
It feels just like the first time..... I feel like I'm frozen in time
I feel that pure love devine.......

You wrapped your arms around me..
Your telling me this is your second chance..

Getting used to that fact that I need you. Never needed anyone before..

Halloween Quartet No 1 Graveyard Special

Standing at the bus stop waiting,
when the stranger asked.
“Has anyone seen the Graveyard Special?
I hope I haven’t missed it
or they won’t let me out next year.”
I shook my head and said. “Sorry, no.”
The stranger turned to me.
He wore a tuxedo, bow tie and patent polished shoes.
He looked like a dancer
and an odd smell rose around him
that of rotting decay.
“Been a nice night, hasn’t it.”
“Yes, but they forecast rain.”
“Been out with your girlfriend
and now catching the last bus home? ”
“No, I haven’t got one.”
A cloud passed across the moon
and the strangers face became partially visible
under the pale light of the moon.
A pale face with a sullen look
engraved with hard shadows.
“Going home? ” I asked,
“Yes, we are only allowed out once a year.”
“You live in an old people’s home? ”
“Something like that.” Returned a whispery reply.
A mist descended and swirled around us.
“My bus I can see it.”
The mist became thicker swallowing us up.
The brightly lit bus stopped,
its destination board read Graveyard Special.
The stranger got on and the bus doors shut.
Into the mist, it went to be swallowed up.
The mist then evaporated as quickly as it came.
My bus arrived and as I paid my ticket I remarked.
“I didn’t know the bus company
put on a special bus just for Halloween.”
The driver shook his head and said.
“They don’t, that bus is for the dead ones
who get out once a year.
I have been following it on its route
as it picks them up one by one
to take them back before
the first streaks of dawn appear in the sky.
It takes them back to the graveyard
for another year to stay.”
Getting my ticket, I sat
my hands trembling at the thought
that I had spoken to a ghost.

Bird food

I was sitting on a bale of hay
A blue jay flew my way

Robins did their bobbing worm stab
Into the still frozen ungiving earth

I saw her blue eyes in the carolina sky
They made me want to sprout wings and go fly

Where I flew was the nest I intended to fight for
I ruffuled my feathers to say nevermore for that piper on the shore

She gave me a glance and smiled to my dismay
For today the ground thawed and food was to stay

So plentiful and fine
feathery and devine

sticky and sweet
smelling like mesquite in the new found heat

I ruffulled my feathers
Showed her my regal bald head

She gave me the bird
The one I never had seen before

It looked like a snipe
So I grabbed a pillow sheet so white

The night was dark with a sliver moon
My flashlight was working last June

I gave it a shake
As to ask if by mistake but captured a loon

If spring would bring Robin to me
Why are there beggars like sparrows

Together Forever Again

That exciting moment was finally here, we didn't have to wait any more
It's a girl I heard the doctor say, the joy in my heart cannot be described
We held each other close as we cried with joy till we realized it was quiet
As we turned to look at the doctors they were looking at us in a sad way
I'm sorry to tell you this but your daughter has a few problems in her body
She probably won't live to be but a few days old if she makes it that long
I'm so sorry, but you can hold her for as long as you would like to for now
They said she didn't have any eyes and she would never be able to see
She didn't have a brain so her body wouldn't be able to function properly
These were only a few of the problems that my daughter was born with
We only had the joy of having her in our life for about one month
Then the Lord took her home so that he could make her whole
I can't wait until the day when I see the miracles that were performed
And I'll feel that joy all over again just like the day that she was born
But this time we'll be together forever in eternity never to face any tears

The Stranger (story)

(story 03/14/11)

I saw a man coming down the road
Head held high, eyes were strong.
He stopped and asked of me
If he could have a bite to eat.

His clothes were all torn and tattered
I asked him what was the matter.
He looked at me and his eyes turned down
His face changed from a smile to a frown.

Hard times I have come across
I was let go by my boss
He said the times was making him downsize
And he had to let go of people to survive.
Everyone was doing the same
People losing their jobs was quite a shame.

Being a farmer who had hard times too
I knew exactly what he was going thru.
So I invited him inside to sit for a spell
For traveling these roads could really be hell.

He was given some soup to take
the chill out of his bones
And was told by the farmer that he wasn’t alone.
He was then given some dinner to eat
To this man it was quite a treat.

The farmer told him he could bathe and
stay the night - and if he wanted to leave
He could leave at first light.
He laid out some pajamas for him to wear
Even gave him some clean underwear.
The bed in the spare room was “ oh so nice”
And he slept peacefully throughout the night.
When he awoke there was breakfast on the table
Coffee, ham and eggs, and cream cheese on a bagel.
After having breakfast he felt like a new man
He looked for the farmer to shake his hand.
He thanked the farmer and asked him his name
He pointed to a wooden nameplate which said:
J. CHRISTHISSON- but some call me J.C.
He then told him he put a fresh set of clothes
On his backpack, turned around and didn’t look back.
So he put on his new clothes and out the door he went
Thinking that this man was heaven sent.
As he walked a mile down the road
He felt guilty that he didn’t thank him properly
For being so kind to a man in need.
He ran back to the farm house and knocked at the door
To be greeted by someone he had never saw.
“I am looking for the farmer who owns this place! ”
That would be me! What can I do for you?
He said: no! that can not be! It was a younger
Man, not as elderly with a beard and shoulder length hair.
He gave me dinner and invited me in, let me bathe
And to have a good nights sleep, then gave
Me these clothes and breakfast to eat.
I don’t see how here you could have stayed
When my wife and I were in another county far away.
But there has been stories going around
About someone helping people when their luck was down.
As he said that - the strangers back pack fell
to the ground, and he heard a clatter.
The man looked at him and asked what was the matter.
He opened his backpack and a wooden name plate fell to the ground
And broke in three- when he looked he could not believe what he saw.
The three parts said: J.CHRIST-HIS-SON
And a cross and rosary laid alongside with a note with one word.
HOPE
Now who could this man have been?

Tell Me

Tell me I wasn't true
Tell me I didn't believe in you
Tell me a moment I didn't share
Tell me when I acted like I didn't care
Tell me a moment with me that was hard to bear
Tell me when I was fake
Tell me the time we spent wasn't great
Tell me I wasn't a good friend
Tell me I wouldn't have your back until the end
Tell me I treated you like a child
Tell me a time I couldn't make you smile
Tell me a time I didn't miss you
Tell me I never kissed you
Tell me a time I used you
Tell me a time I abused you
Tell me you're not all I have
Tell me when I didn't speak on your behalf
Tell me when I didn't have your back
What I'm seeing I feel like you're telling me all of that
