Early Morning Call

I rose at this a.m. and caught the phone
Its brittle ring,
I picked it up, I held it to my ear!
The static on the line was like
Some ancient offering,
But deep and dark and empty, like desire!

And then your voice, it rang down from past ages
Snapped your name,
When like a whip it crackled through the line,
Your voice then conjured clearings where
The crow cawed at the dawn,
And rattled windows shuttered in my mind.

Your call was brief, then gone; but I sat still,
As still as stone,
For the wasteland of the past had filled my well,
Where the trees had dripped at dawn
While the clearing echoed ‘Gone! ’
And tears of crystal shattered where they fell.

There is nothing I can do, life has come and gone
And you
Keep your feelings locked in shackles and in chain,
But if you should call again
I’ll be out, and wandering
On pathways new, where ‘love’ is just a name.

If The Phone Doesnt Ring Its Me

If the phone doesnt ring its me
1985
The time spent writing about the intensity involved in trying to
Keep love together is short; but the endless research can kill you.
There are oceans of feelings between us
Currents that take us and sweep us away
Thats why we seldom have seen us
In the light of a cold hard day
Lots of new friends with the same old answers
Open your eyes
You might see
If our lives were that simple
Wed live in the past
If the phone doesnt ring
Its me
If the phone doesnt ring
Youll know that its me
Ill be out in the eye of the storm
If the phone doesnt ring
You know that Ill be
Where someone can make me feel warm
Its too bad we cant turn
And live in the past
If the phone doesnt ring
Its me
Ive had good days and bad days
And goin half mad days
I try to let go but youre still on my mind
Ive lost all the old ways
Im searchin for new plays
Puttin it all on the line
Lots of new friends with the same old problems
Open your eyes you might see
If our lives were that simple
Wed live in the past
If the phone doesnt ring
Its me
If the phone doesnt ring
Youll know that its me
Ill be out in the eye of the storm
If the phone doesnt ring
You know that Ill be
Where someone can make me feel warm
Its too bad we cant turn
And live in the past
If the phone doesnt ring
Its me
Its me, its me
Its me, its me
Its me, its me
Its me, its me
If it takes all the future
Well live through the past
If the phone doesnt ring
Its me

Welcome 2 The Dawn (acoustic Version)

When the things U know are right are far from what they seem
When the past becomes future and time becomes a dream
When the light of God is the only thing in life that will redeem
Welcome, welcome 2 the dawn
Welcome 2 the dawn
Well, yeah ha!
When the voice U hear commands U 2 entertain the absurd
And when U do the action unlocks the apocalypse, oh, that U've heard of
When the day lies before U seems the darkest in a word
Welcome, welcome 2 the dawn (Oh yes)
Welcome 2 the dawn
Every piece a puzzle and every name a clue (K A R M A {x4})
Every choice U make is karma so be careful what U do
(Welcome)
Welcome, welcome 2 the dawn
Welcome 2 the dawn
Thank U

Nite Line

Calling on the nite line
Waking me up
Calling on the nite line
(calling on the nite line)
Cant get enough
Calling on the nite line
(calling on the nite line)
Whisper in my ear
Sending through the fire line
(calling on the nite line)
What Id like to hear
Every night about midnight
The call comes through
You turn it on the nite line
cause you know just what to do
And Ill be waiting
(Ill be waiting)
By the phone
(by the phone) alone.
Calling on the nite line
Waking me up
(call me, baby)
Calling on the nite line - hee!
Cant get enough
(call me, darling)
Calling on the nite line - hee!
Whisper in my ear - aow!
Sending through the fire line
What Id like to hear
Make it person-to-person
Make it heart-to-heart
Darling, your communication
Is sending up sparks
Ill be waiting
(Ill be waiting)
By the phone
(by the phone)
Why dont you give me a call?
(calling on the nite line
Getting me up)
I wanna call
(calling on the nite line
Cant get enough)
Why dont you call me, baby? hee!
Call me on the nite line!
(call me, darling!)
Whisper in my ear
(wont you call me, baby!) hee!
Sending through the fire line
What Id like to hear - oo!
(call me on the nite line)
(call me on the nite line)
(call me on the nite line)
(call me on the nite line) oo!
Calling on the nite line
Waking me up - oh!
Calling on the nite line - hee!
Cant get enough
(call me, baby!)
Calling on the nite line
Whisper in my ear
Sending through the fire line
What Id like to hear
Calling on the nite line
Getting me up - oh!
Call me on the nite line - hee!
Cant get enough
(call me, baby!)
Calling on the nite line
Whisper in my ear
Sending through the fire line
What Id like to hear
(repeat and fade out)

The Tiff

The Tiff.

All the games we play, I was busy when you called
had no time to speak to you
So when I rang you back you said you were busy
too and had no time to talk.

Then you will sit by the phone; wait for me to ring,
but hurt by your voice I will not ring before next day.
We will both have a bad night, angry and lonely.
So when I do ring you will say something sarcastic
and I will slam down the phone.

Sleepless night and tired days, something has to give.
So I pick up the phone tell you that I love you,
you say you love me too and the sun shines again.
Ah, the games we play, they call it love

Wishful Thinking

My mind is racing.
I can't slow it down.
It won't become normal
'til you're around.
I think past today.
I wait for tomorrow.
'Cause today is empty,
too much sorrow.

My wishful thinking
keeps me sane.
An unexpected phone call
eases my pain.
I hear your voice
and feel peace inside.
I express my feelings,
don't let them hide.

My mind is at rest
for the next few days.
It almost feels normal.
I'm not in a daze.
My future's unknown
so all I can do
is content myself
with thoughts of you.

Ring Ring

I was sitting by the phone
I was waiting all alone
Baby by myself I sit and wait and wonder about you
Its a dark and dreary night
Seems like nothings going right
Wont you tell me honey how can I go on here without you?
Yes Im down and feeling blue
And I dont know what to do, oh-oh
Ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?
Ring, ring, the happiest sound of them all
Ring, ring, I stare at the phone on the wall
And I sit all alone impatiently
Wont you please understand the need in me
So, ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?
So, ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?
You were here and now youre gone
Hey did I do something wrong?
I just cant believe that I could be so badly mistaken
Was it me or was it you?
Tell me, are we really through?
Wont you hear me cry and you will know that my heart is breaking
Please forgive and then forget
Or maybe darling better yet, oh-oh
Ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?
Ring, ring, the happiest sound of them all
Ring, ring, I stare at the phone on the wall
And I sit all alone impatiently
Wont you please understand the need in me
So, ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?
So, ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?
Oh-oh, ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?
So, ring, ring, why dont you give me a call?

Spanked

Heh!
Im all feed up, watchin tv
Some place to feast my eyes, oh
I always drift on commercials, yeah yeah
This one blew my mind, oh
Hey, tell me who youre gonna call, when you need that affection
You got to have it quick (got to have it quick)
There just aint no love line in her direction, oh
All you bad bad boys - call her up on the spank line, ah yeah
All you bad bad boys - call her up on the spank line, uh, whoa, aw
Three dollars, first minute, gosh, man, after that, it cost ya four
And shell be up for negotiations, if you call back for more
Now who youre gonna call when you need that special (special) little something
You can say what you like, its all confidential, oh
All you bad bad boys - call her up on the spank line, huh
All you bad bad boys - call her up on the spank line, whoa
(solo)
Hey!
All you bad bad boys - with your mind blown
All you bad bad boys - got one man horny, spanked
All you bad bad boys - call her up on the spank line, ah, hey
All you bad bad boys - call her up on the spank line, uh
All you bad bad boys - yeah, its a spank line, ha ha ha ha
All you bad bad boys - just call her up, call her up
One man horny, spanked
All you bad bad boys - one man horny, spanked, bad bad bad boys
All you bad bad boys - just call her up, its a spank line

Renda Writer - The Other Line

I saw a man
Fishing
Off the side of the pier

Fishing for a fish
And then...
His cell phone rang

He picked it up
And began talking

Cell phone in one hand
Fishing pole in the other

And then...
The tip of his pole
Started bending

He got a bite

And then...

He said
To the person on the phone

'Let me call you back,
I've got someone on the other line'

Winter Of Discontent

The phone rang a day before Christmas a message I knew would come
but would not like to hear. Mother had died and there was a great haste
now before the festive season. Yet in my despair I picked up the phone
and rang her number in the hope it had all been a dreadful mistake…any
minute now she will answer be glad to hear my voice; and she would tell
me I’m susceptible to cold and remember to wear a scarf.
Fully awake I rushed to the airport, sorry fully booked till after Christmas.
“Please if there is a cancellation ring me.” The phone didn’t ring.
When I finally got there snow had covered flowers and her name was not
yet carved on a stone. This emptiness, this hole in my heart, I knew it had
to happen one day, but not now not ever. At her home they were busy
dividing her things. No I didn’t want anything only her reading glasses,
she had thought me how to read. A life had ended and for the first time in
my life I knew how it felt like to be alone under a cold Nordic sky.

Final Rest

Somewhere in the dessert
She sits alone
Totally unraveled
To strings of past desire
In antiscipation of an oasis
Peeking into the sand
She sees his face
Absolute reflection of her need
A bouquet of hues of longing
Turns softly into the here and now
Her fragile woven existance
Weaves love into tender feelings
But 'tis it just a tale she has
Penned in vain?
Her desire 'tis uncovered
Chillingly into the reality of an
Ice covered dawn
She is able to remember
A lovelier time
Brief yet gentle
When her young world danced
And laughed and her joy was
Everywhere
But in kneeling now
At this most sad hour
Her winter season of life
She ignites her tears
In effigy
A lost and smoke filled
Offering
To her lonely and broken
Destiny

Overwhelming Love

In the shower here I stand,
with tears falling down with every drip of water,
thinking of the worst things,
I'm missing you more than ever,
mind scrambled, filling with so many thoughts,
I'm just trying to comprehend everything at once.
Why? why, do I have such strong feelings for you..
In only a matter of days, I don't understand just yet.
Barely done getting dressed,
I hear a knock on my bedroom door,
as I open the door my mother stands there with a phone in one hand,
her not knowing who the person is, hands me the phone,
Puzzled, I answered questionably 'Hello? '
To my surprise a voice came to.. 'Why, Hello there beautiful'.
my mouth instantly dropped in disbelief,
I wondered..could this be? Is this really him?
To my relief it indeed was..
the person I fell for over the weekend, he was on the other line.
Tears of Joy, and happiness over ran my face,
and a giant bright smile quickly appeared.
Just hearing his voice made everything right in the world, yet again.

I Hear Your Voice

So many nights thought that I was doing fine
Thought that time had chased your picture from my mind
So many times thought my heart was finally strong
Now I find this heart of mine was so wrong
I thought Id finally learned to get on with my life
I hear your voice-(call)
Your voice (call)
Your voice (call)
The way it used to do
I feel my heart (fall)
I try to keep you off my mind
But every time I do, I hear your voice
So many days I thought that I could love again
But any fool in love would know thats all pretend
You always seem to find your way
Back in my dreams and I cant break free
Chorus
You know I tried so many times just to forget you
Ive tried to walk away from you
Oh girl, its just no use
I hear your voice (call)
Your voice (call)
Your voice (call)
Calling me.. calling me the way...
I feel my heart (fall)
I try to keep you off my mind
But every time I do,
I hear your voice
I hear your voice
I hear your voice

Mr. Midnight

Rain on the roof and time on my hands
It sure seemed quit out there in radio land
They call me at the all-night station
Make their special dedications
And i do my best to play their request
When it's a desperate situation
This was a desperate situation
[chorus:]
I'm mr. midnight alone and blue
The brokenhearted call me up
When they don't know what else to do
Every song is a reminder of the love that they once knew
I'm mr. midnight can i play a song for you
"caller on the line could you please hold on?"
I recognized her voice the minute i picked up the phone
Should i tell her that it's me or leave it at a memory
Haven't been myself since the day she left
And i'm never gonna be
I'm forever gonna be
[repeat chorus]
Imagine my surprise when she spoke my name
She said, "could you tell him that i love him and i wish things could be the same."
Then a voice i never knew
Said, "honey, who you talking to?"
[repeat chorus]

A Night to Ponder

A Night to Ponder
By: Adam M. Snow

Alone I sat a night to ponder, in my chambers going yonder.
Alas! I pondered all is dreary, like the weeping reaper weary,
Like the ancient lore spoke unto me evermore,
Quoth a line, a verse from vital flame -
'A life to live, to live a dream' a secret to life, so it seems.
It is but that and nothing more, quoth the verse, the forgotten lore.
And so shall come the life's of some, alas! Mine shall be the dreadful: nevermore!
Alas! Mine shall be divine, echoes of sorrow reached across time for evermore.
It is but that and nothing more, quoth the verse, the forgotten lore.

Suddenly I came to remember the dawn of morning ember,
On a cold, cold November morn,
I rose from my chambers locked in shackles,
The feelings of betrayal, thoughts of hackles kept me sane.
I laughed and jest as I laid to rest,
Betrayed as the world could see.

I know of no reason why I darkened my season,
But it be sanctimonious, felonious my erroneous alone,
But I beseeched my demons, my own,
For melancholy is my one desire, cast out into a pit of fire.
To die and be reborn again and again,
Only to find myself dreaming of every sin.

But still I long for the forgotten lore,
A spoken truth now lies.
I pondered all the lore's of some, not knowing when the Dawn will come,
And so shall come the life's of some, alas! Mine shall be the dreadful: nevermore!

One Foot In

No need to call me friend
I understand what you meant back then
All your times into suspend
Between half-past seven to quarter-past ten
All you need in me to surpass
Negative energies that had you upset
My loving kept your heart in line
Standing on the border line

[Bridge]
All my time and you can have it all
(As long as I'm not home too late
we can even catch a movie it starts around 8)
But you're playing games don't think I'll come when you call
Coz I'll be occupied with something else

Amarelinha

Draw a pattern of
Rectangles
On the ground
And I will throw
A stone
Inside one of
The spaces

Then I hop
And hop
Avoiding this
Line and that
To retrieve
What stone I
Have thrown

In my life
Let us talk

About my life
Seriously
Now, I jump

From past
To present
To present
And past
And future in
A very confusing
Manner

And then
Time, this time
Line does not
Exist anymore

My life is that
Stone and you
Are one of those
Spaces
That rectangle
I jump in

And then we stop
This hopscotch
It is dark and we
Have to stop playing
We must go home
Now

Pain Of Existence Without.....

It was pain of existence without your phone calls.....
This pain was not related to time, as time moved on.....
but the pain remained, pain and more pain....
without a phone call from you........
Time started moving, but there was no phone call, , , , , ,
I was lost with the acute awareness of this great pain.....
pain and more pain......
I wish I could tell you how much your phone calls mean to me, , , , ,
what if we have not met, what if we have not seen each other
but dear your phone call is what makes me pull through my day....
your voice is a magic to me, it is music to my ears....
but dear you never called.... and the pain remains...
The pain reminds me of the wonderful times we had....
the long phone calls.... your voice, your silence, , your moans
all this was so wonderful, which meant so much to me....
but dear you never called........
come back and call me dear...... and tell me how much I mean to you
call me once my love........
I wait for your magic voice, for all wonderful things you tell me....
for all the beautiful moments over phone we had.......
I wait with great pain, pain and pain.....
Just to hear you..... or get a message from you
Your messages are my breakfast, my dinner, , , ,
I sleep thinking of you hearing you, reading you...
I wake up to read your message..........
But dear you never called you never messaged....
come back just once my love come back
I just want to tell how much I miss your voice.............

The Nile

Out of the unknown South,
Through the dark lands of drouth,
Far wanders ancient Nile in slumber gliding:
Clear-mirrored in his dream
The deeds that haunt his stream
Flash out and fade like stars in midnight sliding.
Long since, before the life of man
Rose from among the lives that creep,
With Time's own tide began
That still mysterious sleep,
Only to cease when Time shall reach the eternal deep.

From out his vision vast
The early gods have passed,
They waned and perished with the faith that made them;
The long phantasmal line
Of Pharaohs crowned divine
Are dust among the dust that once obeyed them.
Their land is one mute burial mound,
Save when across the drifted years
Some chant of hollow sound,
Some triumph blent with tears,
From Memnon's lips at dawn wakens the desert meres.

O Nile, and can it be
No memory dwells with thee
Of Grecian lore and the sweet Grecian singer?
The legions' iron tramp,
The Goths' wide-wandering camp,
Had these no fame that by thy shore might linger?
Nay, then must all be lost indeed,
Lost too the swift pursuing might
That cleft with passionate speed
Aboukir's tranquil night,
And shattered in mid-swoop the great world-eagle's flight.

Yet have there been on earth
Spirits of starry birth,
Whose splendour rushed to no eternal setting:
They over all endure,
Their course through all is sure,
The dark world's light is still of their begetting.
Though the long past forgotten lies,
Nile! in thy dream remember him,
Whose like no more shall rise
Above our twilight's rim,
Until the immortal dawn shall make all glories dim.

For this man was not great
By gold or kingly state,
Or the bright sword, or knowledge of earth's wonder;
But more than all his race
He saw life face to face,
And heard the still small voice above the thunder.
O river, while thy waters roll
By yonder vast deserted tomb,
There, where so clear a soul
So shone through gathering doom,
Thou and thy land shall keep the tale of lost Khartoum.

I Must Have Been Sleeping

'Where are you going, ' I heard her say
As the dream took me straight to the core,
We parked at the side of a very long road
And I got out the driver's door;
'I've never known that, ' I replied, and she sat
On her hands, with the pain of surprise,
'So what you've been saying has never been true! '
The tears rose up in her eyes!

'The road has been long, the road has been wide,
I never knew where I could turn.'
'I thought you were happy with me, ' she said;
There was nothing to say in return.
'I must have been sleeping for seventeen years, '
My voice sounded foreign and coarse,
But I couldn't handle the sighs and the lies,
Or the terrible sound of - 'divorce! '

I walked to the wood at the side of the road,
And followed the pathway around,
I couldn't look back now I'd made up my mind
Though I walked unfamiliar ground,
The clearing was quiet, the birds didn't sing,
A mountain rose up in my view,
I suddenly saw there was no going back
To the comfortable life that I knew.

I cast off my shackles and took a deep breath,
To breathe in both freedom and pride,
My strength was returning, and clearer my eye,
I walked with a bounce in my stride,
The years fell away, I was thirty again,
I stopped then, and sat on a stone,
For darkness was gathering there in the gloom
With that terrible feeling - alone!

I thought of the woman I'd left on the road,
Who'd always been faithful to me,
The tears that she'd shed for a love that was dead
Made me sad, and ashamed to be free,
I thought of the comfort she'd given me when
All my world started going insane,
She'd cooked and she'd cared, and she'd loved and she'd shared
And I'd given her nothing but pain.

I turned on the track, and I made my way back
But I couldn't see where I had been,
I stumbled through thickets and walked into trees
And I fell on my knees on the green.
'I am lost, I am lost, ' I cried into the night
Then I heard her voice, dim, by a tree
And woke to her stroking my face and my brow
As I cried… She was waiting for me!
