Only Within The Looking Glass

This morning I came across a face that I’d not seen so fresh in years,
Smiling beyond the tears that kept him drowning, smiling beyond
The fear that keeps him frowning, it is only within the looking glass
That he defines himself towards expectation that otherwise he forgets
So merrily, that of the projection of persona he declares in every stride.

River Of Tears

Its three miles to the river
That would carry me away,
And two miles to the dusty street
That I saw you on today.
Its four miles to my lonely room
Where I will hide my face,
And about half a mile to the downtown bar
That I ran from in disgrace.
Lord, how long have I got to keep on running,
Seven hours, seven days or seven years?
All I know is, since youve been gone

The ending defines a moment of change
Loved ones left wondering whose to blame

The Clock

Recently you spoke about the condition
of the clock you’ve had for many years.
You said it wasn’t functioning properly
because of it’s age and worn out gears.

I understand you tried to get it mended,
but it was way beyond repair.
And now you miss its ticking,
and the time it used to bear.

I know that it’s of sentimental value,
and nothing could ever take its place,
but I’ve one that’s been unused for years,
and it comes with a smiling face.

When you’re ready for a replacement,
and you can face it without distress,
I’ll pop the smiling clock around to you,
it’ll bring good time and happiness.

The last few years have been my happiest. I'm happy in the years that most people are blue and sad and waiting to die. I don't feel that a bit. Smiling has a lot to do with it. You can just lift your spirits by smiling a little bit.
